The short answer is if you did not explicitly set BeyondPod to use Reader nothing will change. If you have been enjoying some of the extra features provided by Google Reader, we are looking at many popular alternatives to replace them.

Extra features provided by Google Reader are NOT essential for BeyondPod’s operation – even without Reader, you can still subscribe to feeds (both text only, and podcasts), download episodes, schedule updates, play etc.

• Facelift of the user interface to match design style used in Jelly Bean tablets.

Backup files can be used to restore the same device or configure different device with the same feeds and settings. Backup and restore is accessible via Settings > Backup and Restore
• New redesigned "Add Feed" screen with better layout and support for recommended feeds, trending episodes, top publishers and popular podcasts for many countries.
• Improved "Feed Preview". When searching or browsing BeyondPod’s catalog, you can "preview" any episode in the feed before subscribing to it.
• When sharing fully downloaded episodes, BeyondPod can now attach the downloaded episode file as part of the share. This is useful if you want to "push" some of the downloaded files to a file synchronization service like DropBox, Google Drive etc. Attaching files is disabled by default and can be enabled in: Settings > Feed Content Settings > Attach episode files when sharing.
• Added support for EpisodeSync – ability to sync episode played positions (and optionally episode deletions) between devices. EpisodeSync is currently in BETA – If you want to participate in the EpisodeSync BETA, more information is available in EpisodeSync Help.

This is a beta of the TABLET VERSION of BeyondPod. The user interface is optimized for 7"…10" tablets and will not render correctly on devices with smaller screens.

• If you often get incorrect images for downloaded episodes, you can now force episodes to always use the Feed image instead. (uncheck "Use Episode Album Art" in Feed Content Settings).
• Added an improved way to detect and prevent the download of duplicate episodes. Any new feed you add from now on, will be analyzed on the first update and BeyondPod will pick the best way to detect duplicate episodes. You can manually switch any existing feed to use a different detection logic by going to the feed settings > More Settings > Duplicate Episode Detection. Keep in mind that changing the detection setting will delete the read/unread and download history for the feed – you will have to manually mark latest episodes as Read/Downloaded so they are not downloaded again the first time update the feed.
  (This change required a small upgrade to the BeyondPod database. If you want to downgrade to an earlier build, please make sure to follow the downgrade steps below.)
• To reduce unwanted data usage, if "Use Mobile Data" is turned off and you are on a mobile network, BeyondPod will now not show any network content (images, JavaScript etc.) in the Show Notes or Episode details screens.

• On the player screen, the playlist now opens directly over the album art providing a convenient access to your playback queue.

• When resuming playback after a longer (> 1 min) pause, BeyondPod can now replay the last 5..30 seconds of the episode (to help you remember the conversation context). The new setting is OFF by default and is located in Settings > Player Settings > Replay on Resume.
• Episodes screen, has a new "Not Played" filter option showing only episodes that were never played (never started).
• Added “Quick Play” (working title) commands. Quick Play will instantly play categories, feeds or episodes matching a search keyword. Quick Play can be started using Android Voice search (by saying for example “Listen to News” or “Listen to Science Friday”), by creating a (new) home screen shortcut or from a 3rd party application (like Tasker/Llama). More information on how to set it up is available here. Quick Play is currently an experimental feature so give it a try and let us know what you think.
• The font size of Episodes list is now configurable and uses the same setting as the Feed Content font size (Feed Content Settings > Font Size).
• Fixed a bug where if the played position on the player was manually moved (using the scrubber) but not played after moving, the new position was not saved.
• Added better integration with MX video player (free/paid from the Market) – When MX Player is used as external player, BeyondPod can now tell it to resume from specific position and get back the position where the user paused. This works (somewhat) reliably for downloaded episodes, but due to some MX player limitations they don’t support it for yet for streaming.
• Small change to better support of "You Tube" RSS feeds. Selecting an episode will now try to open it in the default YouTube player.

• "Automatic Playlist" option now works for both episodes of a single feed and category episodes. ("Automatic Playlist" builds a fresh playlist starting from the selected episode and includes all episodes after it in the order they are displayed. "Automatic Playlist" is OFF by default and can be enabled in: Menu > More > Settings > Playlist and Widget Settings > Automatic Playlist.)

Here is a brief list of changes in this beta:

• Episode titles can now be wrapped in multiple lines (so they are visible in their entirety). Title wrapping is OFF by default and can be enabled in: Menu > More > Settings > Feed Content Settings > Wrap Episode Titles. (This affects episode titles in both "Feed Content" and "Episode" views).
• Total duration of all episodes currently in the playlist is now (again) shown on the player title.
• When Feed Content is filtered by "My Episodes" or "Downloaded", episodes are now sorted using the local episode sort order set for that feed. (Feed specific episode sort order can be set using Menu > Sort on that screen, or globally for all feeds in BeyondPod’s General Settings > "Sort Local Episodes By")
• For consistency, "Optimized for Reading" setting (see TIP #10 in FAQ) is now also applied to episodes in "Episode" screen.
• You can now download episodes directly from the post content screen (the screen where you can swipe left/right between feed posts) by using Menu > Download. (This makes it convenient to "swipe" thru full episode notes and download only episodes that seem interesting.)
• "Archived" episodes are now considered as "read" only if they are completely played. They used to be considered always as "read" and therefore not showing when the feed was displaying "Unread Only" (causing some confusion).
• Couple of updates for the "enhanced" player notification on ICS devices (see TIP #15 in FAQ)  – fix for cases where for some feeds the notification did not have an album art, "Skip to End" button will be hidden if configured in the player settings, and the notification will be cleared less aggressively (should be only if the current episode is cleared)
• Fix for a bug where if a virtual feed has subfolders, episodes in the sub-folder were not using the feed specific sort order.

Finally, a couple of notes:

• For people that were using the Automatic Playlist generation of v2.0 (where when play an episode it automatically added the selected episode and subsequent episodes to the playlist) this can be turned back on using: Menu > More > Settings ? Playlist and Widget Settings > Automatic Playlist.
