“Alien Hunters” is the 2013 Science Curiosity Investigation Summer Camp theme.

8 am – noon, Monday – Friday, July 8 – 12, 2013
open to students in grades 3-6
$120 fee includes all project materials and daily mid-morning snacks
Participants will engage in fun, interactive investigations to stimulate curiosity, and encourage cooperative discovery and problem solving.

Camp projects, adventures and investigations will include such topics as:

Life In Extreme Environments
Timeline For Life On Earth
How To Recognize Life
Finding Another World With Alien Life

Registration is limited to 20 students, so register early.
Registration may be completed on-line at wku.edu/hardinplanetarium/ or you may register in person at the Hardin Planetarium or the Physics & Astronomy Office in TCCW 246.

Fountain Square 2nd Saturdays (This Saturday)

Second Saturday Street Fairs are held around Fountain Square Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every second Saturday beginning in April through September. There are inflatables and games for kids, horse and carriage rides, both for a modest fee. There is live music, face painting, balloon twisting, food vendors, product vendor booths and more, that will all combine for fun and excitement. Also look for sidewalk sales by merchants, all in a festive atmosphere that brings back memories of a bustling Downtown area.

I tend to forget Stockdales is in town. They do have a sale going on from May 8 to May 19th. Even 50% off on Summer Apparel. Here’s the flyer that came in yesterdays paper. They are more a farm supply store, but for things like work boots, bug spray and outdoor decorations they are another place to check out here in town.

Aldi’s can have some some great prices. To save they limit services such as limiting risk – they require a quarter deposit to use a cart and no credit cards. Aldi’s has minimal display set up in the store and looks more like a warehouse. Once in a while they have additional items such as this week they have garden gnomes on sale (After just reading the book How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack though, I might skip that one personally)
