Mom I swear I didnt drink,

2013-03-28T13:13:00.001-07:00

i swear i didnt drink mom
I went to a party Mom,
I remembered what you said.
U told me not to drink,
Mom, So I drank soda instead.

I really felt proud inside, Mom,
The way you said I would.
I didn't drink and drive, Mom,
Even though the others said I
should.

I know I did the right thing, Mom,
I know you are always right.
Now the party is finally ending,Mom,
As everyone is driving out of sight.

As I got into my car, Mom,
I knew I'd get home in one piece.
Because of the way you raised me,
So responsible and sweet.

I started to drive away, Mom,
But as I pulled out into the road,
The other car didn't see me, Mom,
And hit me like a load.:(

As I lay there on the pavement,
Mom,
I hear the policeman say,
"The other guy is drunk," Mom,
And now I'm the one who will pay.
I'm lying here dying, Mom....
I wish you'd get here soon.
How could this happen to me,
Mom?
My life just burst like a balloon.
There is blood all around me, Mom,
And most of it is mine.

I hear the medic say, Mom,
I'll die in a short time.
I just wanted to tell you, Mom,
I swear I didn't drink.

It was the others, Mom.
The others didn't think.
He was probably at the same party
as I.
The only difference is, he drank
And I will die.

Why do people drink, Mom?
It can ruin your whole life.
I'm feeling sharp pains now.
Pains just like a knife.

The guy who hit me is walking,
Mom,
And I don't think it's fair.
I'm lying here dying
And all he can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, Mom.
Tell Daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, Mom,
Put "GOOD BOY " on my grave.

Someone should have told him,
Mom,
Not to drink and drive. :'(
If only they had told him, Mom,
I would still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter, Mom.
I'm becoming very scared.
Please don't cry for me, Mom.
When I needed you, you were
always there.

I have one last question, Mom.
Before I say good bye.
I didn't drink and drive,
So why am I the one to die?
a poem by mike orman.

Top five regrets of dying

2012-08-12T11:54:00.000-07:00

A nurse has recorded the most common regrets of dying , and among the top ones is "I wish I hadn't worked so hard ". what would your biggest regret be if this was your last day of life?

Bronnie Ware, an Australian palliative nurse, who spent several years working in palliative care, caring for patients in the last 12 weeks of their lives, has recorded the top five regrets of the dying .

1. I wish i'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
This was the most common regret of all.when they realize their life is almost over and look back clearly on it,it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made , or not made. health brings a freedom very few realize, until they no longer have it.

2. I wish I hadent worked soo hard.
this came from every male patient that I nursed. they missed their childrens youth and their partners companionship. women also spoke of this regret, but as most were from an older generation, many of the female had not been breadwinners. All of he men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.

3. I wish i'd courage to express my feelings
Many peoples suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illness relation to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
Often they would not truly realize the full benefits of ole friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them dowm. many had became so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved . Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.
This is a surprisingly common one. many did not realize until the end that happiness is a choice. they had stayed stuck in old patterns and habbits. the so-called 'comfort'of familiarity overflowed in to their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content, when deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again.

this is really a something we need to know, so ve copied it from Susie stiener guardian.co.uk

Dream of my father

2012-03-17T08:48:00.002-07:00

In the village where I was born
the sun came like a curse
the land dried into fine powder
the wind blew the dust like clouds.
My father worked like an ant.
He said, ‘Earth is our mother.’
I had seen him grow potatoes, carrots, millet, maize and yam.
The land in my village was a miser it took more and gave less.
Once during the marriage season the harvest failed.
The field dried like a parched hroat,
fissures opened up
like wounds on the skin.
Frogs tanned to their small, drydeaths
people folded like monks and prayed.
My elder sister had to stay home,
the prince of her dreams never came, riding horses.
Mother melted like wax in the summer heat.
Father shrunk like a scarecrow
scratching the hard, baked soil.
All season, it never rained.
One evening, my father went to the woods
and never returned. ~~ekantipur.com nabin kumar chhetri~~

Pokhara city

2012-03-16T13:23:00.001-07:00

Pokhara is situated in the west of nepal.which is a widening of the Seti Gandaki valley. The Seti river is the main river flowing through the city, Seti and its tributaries have dug several canyons into the valley floor.Lekhnath municipality is situated in the east of pokhara, which is called the garden of lakes.
In this region the mountains rise very quickly and within 30 km, the elevation rises from 1,000 m to over 7,500 m. As a result of this sharp rise in altitude the area of Pokhara has one of the highest precipitation rates of the country . Even within the city there is a noticeable difference in rainfall between the south and the north of the city, the northern part of the city situated at the foothills of the mountains experiences proportionally higher amount of precipitation.
The lake shown in the picture is Fewa lake, which is the most popular lake of pokhara, among all the seven lakes.

Ancient art revived

2012-02-17T12:12:00.001-08:00

The direct descendant of renowned artist Kuber Singh Shakya whose works are all over Asia from Kathmandu to Ladakh, Tibet, and Bhutan, Rabindra Shakya comes from a family with a long line of artisans. His father, Rudra Raj Shakya, is also an artist known for his works on metal. Rabindra Shakya learnt repousse, art of embossing or pressing shapes into metal, from his father and is now passing all of his family knowledge to Mureen Drdak, the recipient of the 2011-2012 Fulbright Senior Scholar Award for Nepal. Together, Drdak and Shakya are holding an art exhibition titled The Prakriti Project: Eternal Visions- Contemporary Forms.
The Prakrti Project which was inaugurated on Feb 9 by Patricia Mahoney, the Deputy Chief of Mission Embassy of the United States of America, is exhibiting a total of 22 pieces of which 10 are by Drdak and 12 by Shakya. All 12 sculptures by Shakya are on sale and the prices range from NPR 50,000 to NPR 1,550,000. The price tag on five paintings by Drdak range from USD 1,250 to USD 12,500. The
exhibition displays copper repousse sculptures by Shakya which reflect Newar culture through and through. These repousses are created by
beating a sheet of copper metal to produce a 3D effect. The sculptures are painstakingly detailed and have an overwhelming effect.
The works by Drdak, on the other hand, are a blend of copper repousse and contemporary paintings on canvas and wood panels in line with ancient Newari art traditions. She has used plastic bags as her way of speaking against environmental degradation which is one of the major problems in Nepal and the Himalayas. Drdak has also used mineral particles in her work which gives her pieces a raw yet interesting finish. Revolving around her concept of nagas, her collection is dominated by black and
copper. Drdak’s works are a beautiful interpretation of Newar art and of what she has learnt from her teacher Rabindra Shakya in his workshop.
The artists hope that this exhibition will show people how wonderful this ancient form of copper repousse is. With Shakya’s detailed presentation of what Newar copper repousse is combined with Drdak’s version this method of art, shown in The Prakriti Project: Eternal Visions- Contemporary Forms will certainly be a success in its endeavors.
The Prakriti Project is being exhibited at the Siddhartha Art Gallery, Baber Mahal till February 26. Those interested in making a purchase can book the works on sale.

It’s all about the headline. It’s about getting your point across in the most direct way you can. These personal statements are very good example of this, in just a few lines I have to get my message of why I want do a degree in Journalism across to my prospective universities..
