Western Christians first celebrated Christmas on December 25 in 336, after Emperor Constantine had declared Christianity the empire's favored religion.
No one really knows when Christ was born.
The pagans celebrated Dec 25th as they worshipped the sun and the sun started to return and grant more sunshine during the day.
It does seem you need a holiday during this dark and depressing time of the year.

Bible burning was inaugurated in England by the destruction of copies of the Antwerp edition of Tyndales"s New Testament, at St. Paul's Cross London in 1527 followed by the burning of a second edition in 1530.

Theses were later translated into Greek, the oldest translation being known as the Septuagint of "Version of the Seventy" made at Alexandria , for the Alexadrian Library, by a company of seventy learned Jews under the patronage of Ptolemy Philadelphia around 285 BC.
The original order came from none other than Alexander the Great who when visiting Jerusalem in 332 BC learned of the prophecy in Daniel that predicted Grecia was to overthrow the Persian Kingdom.

This was the version in common use in Christ's time.

A theory can only be disproven not proven.
For example if I postulate that all cats are black, because I have only ever seen a black cat, there is no way for me to search the universe and prove my theory is correct.
However if just one person comes to me with a white cat my theory is destroyed.

And there are many holes in the evolution theory that disproves it.

"Evolution" mixes two things together, one real, one imaginary. Variation (microevolution) is the real part. The types of bird beaks, the colors of moths, leg sizes, etc. are variation. Each type and length of beak a finch can have is already in the gene pool and adaptive mechanisms of finches. Creationists have always agreed that there is variation within species. What evolutionists do not want you to know is that there are strict limits to variation that are never crossed, something every breeder of animals or plants is aware of. Whenever variation is pushed to extremes by selective breeding (to get the most milk from cows, sugar from beets, bristles on fruit flies, or any other characteristic), the line becomes sterile and dies out. And as one characteristic increases, others diminish. But evolutionists want you to believe that changes continue, merging gradually into new kinds of creatures.
