Smart Starter V2 main window

New : Click on New for creating a new workspace a new button occurs below the button "Start E-Sword with all modules".

(You can create 5 workspaces (new in V2) with a donatorID you can create unlimited number of workspaces)

LG: LG starts the last used workspace.

SLT: Single line tabbed if you select this e-Sword restarts in the single line tabbed mode.

Auto: if checked e-Sword will start automatically with Smart Starter. (new in V2)

(new in V2) Smart Starter V2 supports now resources located at C:\Users\Public\Documents\e-Sword

Smart Starter Plus workspace editor window.

The Workspace Editor gives you all what you need if you have a large collection of modules installed for biblestudy. Here you can configure with which modules e-Sword should start or you can lookup the details for modules or you can print out the details. All buttons in the worksspace editor have tooltips so you will easeliy learn how to work with the workspace editor (new in V2)

Smart Starter V2 is tested with Vista, Win 7, Win XP and E-sword 9.7.1.

So habe ich mir erlaubt, das NT dieser Übersetzung fertig zu stellen, ich hoffe daß ich damit nichts gegen Euch getan habe. Die Elberfelder gilt ja als gute Übersetzung - hier war ich aber doch erstaunt - die alte ist wesentlich besser und durchschlagender. Viele der Änderungen sind vollkommen sinnlos, aber das muß ich Euch sicherlich nicht erst erklären.Wenn man's mit der "Internet Elberfelder 1871"von Crosswire und anderen vergleicht, denkt man es ist eine andere Übersetzung.

ESS, Leander (Taufname: Johann Heinrich) van, kath. Bibelübersetzer, 15.2. 1772 in Warburg (Westfalen) als Sohn eines Kaufmanns, † 13.10. 1847 in Affolderbach (Odenwald). - E. wurde 1790 Novize in der Benediktinerabtei Marienmünster bei Paderborn, 1796 Priester, 1802 nach der Säkularisierung des Klosters Pfarrer in Schwalenberg (Lippe), 1812 Pfarrer, ao. Professor der Theologie und Mitdirektor des Schullehrerseminars in Marburg (Lahn). 1818 promovierte er zum Dr. theol., legte 1822 seine Ämter nieder und lebte seitdem als Privatgelehrter in Darmstadt, Alzey (Rheinhessen) und an anderen Orten. - E. sah in der Übersetzung der Bibel und ihrer Verbreitung unter dem katholischen Volk seine Lebensaufgabe. Mit seinem Vetter Karl van Eß übersetzte er aus dem Grundtext das Neue Testament, das 1807 in Braunschweig erschien, ungeheure Verbreitung fand (184228), am 19.12. 1821 auf den Index librorum prohibitorum kam, aber später von dem bischöflichen Ordinariat in Bruchsal und der Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultät in Tübingen empfohlen wurde. Es folgte in Sulzbach 1822 der erste und 1836 der zweite Teil der von ihm allein erarbeiteten Übersetzung des Alten Testaments. 1840 erschien in Sulzbach die von ihm in Verbindung mit seinem Freund und früheren Schüler Heinrich Joseph Wetzer besorgte Gesamtausgabe der Bibel in 3 Teilen. In seinem Bemühen um ihre Verbreitung wurde E. von der Britischen und Ausländischen Bibelgesellschaft in London unterstützt, deren Agent er bis 1829 war. Seine Bibelübersetzung wird noch heute, z. B. von der Württembergischen Bibelanstalt in Stuttgart, verbreitet. Trotz seiner Kritik an der Vulgata, seiner Rechtfertigung der gemischten Ehen und der Herausgabe von Predigten des Franz Volkmar Reinhard blieb Ess in seiner Gesinnung Katholik, auch wenn er sich immer mehr dem restaurierten Katholizismus entfremdete.

The Open English Bible is the anticipated end product of a project intended to create an English translation of the Bible that is under a licence enabling the maximum reuse, remixing and sharing without requiring the payment of royalties or the obtaining of permission from copyright holders; and a translation reflecting modern English usage and Biblical scholarship. The OEB is being formed by editing the public domain Twentieth Century New Testament, which was a new translation of the New Testament published in the early twentieth century, based on the Greek text of Westcott and Hort. As such, the OEB as a translation does not stand within the Tyndale tradition but has a separate tradition in a similar manner to the NIV and New English Bible

Bible Vigouroux 1902

Fulcran Grégoire Vigouroux (1837 - 1915) est un prêtre de la Compagnie des prêtres de Saint-Sulpice qui enseigna l'Écriture Sainte au Séminaire de Saint-Sulpice, puis à l'Institut catholique de Paris. Il est ensuite appelé à Rome pour devenir le secrétaire de la Commission pontificale pour les affaires bibliques. La Bible Vigouroux, (1ère édition en 1902) ou mieux "la Bible Glaire & Vigouroux", est la dernière grande édition française et catholique de la Vulgate, la seule approuvée par le Saint-Siège. Cette Bible, qui vise à l'exactitude littérale, avait pour objectif de donner une traduction encore plus satisfaisante des Écritures que celles jusqu’alors utilisées chez les catholiques, et pour cela l’Abbé Glaire, comme il l’explique dans son introduction, choisit “une rigoureuse littéralité” : « La Bible conserve mieux son admirable simplicité, sa noble concision, la richesse et la vivacité de ses images... tout le charme d’un style pittoresque, qui attache le lecteur sans jamais le fatiguer». « Une littéralité qui n’autorise point la licence criminelle d’introduire dans le texte des paraphrases qu’on devrait renvoyer dans les notes, pour ne point mêler ou substituer la pensée de l’homme à la pensée de Dieu ». Ainsi, cette Bible est un des plus purs chefs-d’oeuvre de la traduction biblique. un monument de conscience, de savoir et de respect. Publiée d’abord de 1871 à 1873, elle fut dans une 3ème édition, encore bien améliorée par F. Vigouroux (1890) avec des introductions, notes complémentaires et appendices. Nous avons donc ici la version la plus achevée, la meilleure donc, de la Bible selon la Vulgate en langue française.

The zefania xml bible markup language was updated. Now module creators are able to use element tags like "BIBLEBOOK" in lower case "biblebook" or even in an extrem short form "b". R. Zadok Kahn (Zadig ; 1839–1905), chief rabbi of France. Born in Mommenheim, Alsace, Kahn was the son of a village peddler. His mother was the daughter of Rabbi Isaac Weyl (Reb Eisik) of Wintzheim, whose father, Jacob Meyer, was a member of the Sanhedrin convened by Napoleon I and chief rabbi of the Lower Rhine department. Kahn was educated in a yeshivah at Strasbourg and from 1856 at the Ecole Rabbinique in Metz (later in Paris), from which he graduated in 1862. He then became director of the Talmud Torah, a preparatory school of the Ecole. In 1866 Kahn became assistant to Chief Rabbi Isidore Lazare of Paris, whom he succeeded in 1868.

He was also the editor of a French Bible translation known as the "Bible of the Rabbinate that is available now.

Bible de Saci (1759)

Louis-Isaac Lemaistre de Sacy (29 March 1613 – 4 January 1684), a priest of Port-Royal, was a theologian and French humanist. He is best known for his translation of the Bible the most widespread French Bible in the 18th century, also known as the Bible de Port-Royal.

De Sacy's is better known than previous translations and has been much reproduced. It was really the first translation of the bible accessible to the non-Latin speaking general public.

Characteristics of de Sacy's Bible

Some theologians criticized the translation of de Sacy as sometimes deviating from the letter of the original for no apparent reason. Others saw it as sober and elegant. As for explanations, they are at the time too encouraging the theories of Cornelius Jansen.

The Bible de Port-Royal was developed as a result of work carried out by logic Abbey de Port-Royal to Paris (see Port-Royal Logic). This logic was wanted to build exclusively on mathematics it was thought it could transpose the models in other fields of knowledge and the exercise of reason, therefore also in the field of training syntactic et grammatical of all statements of language, offering an ideal of rational language who wanted to reconcile the spirit of finesse and the spirit of geometry : the discourse par excellence.
