We are back to 10 am as we take on the team that is in third place. We should have a more full line up as I think Roberto is back from his Caribbean Cruise and Amsterdam Stag! Hopefully Jonny, Robert and Javier will be back this week too!!!

While we were short of the victory that we needed today, we played a good solid game and we all played decently throughout the game. Our leading goal scorer "Da Costa" had another great goal today and Jesse James Miller scored a powerful penalty shot. The other team played very well too and scored very good goals passing the ball several times before taking the shot. Whilst they played well they also received two red cards, one was blatant unsportsmanlike conduct as he lightly pushed our beloved goalkeeper "Lin." I think the other red was made up from two yellows. These were cast iron calls from the referee and the refs report will go to the league committee where they will decide whether the two players are suspended for one or two games and fined either $25 or $50 for their misconducts. While the ref seemed a bit whistle-happy, he made it known that he had his eyes on the play all the time and a nice touch of humor. What I found the funniest was how the ref warned Da Costa before the game had even started! He has already established a reputation with refs in the league. While Neil does not make the refs job any easier, they all seem to really enjoy giving him plenty of warnings. This ensures the cat and mouse relationship between the ref and Da Costa can never go unnoticed and definitely adds some spark and some fizz to the game.

Slowly but surly we are getting better as a team and getting more and more chances to score. I know I received at least two great balls from team mates that gave me excellent scoring opportunities. While we lost the match, it didn't seem all that bad as I know I enjoyed the game and it seemed like everyone else did too (if you did not enjoy it, let your voice be heard by leaving a comment below). Icing and resting my sore thigh has allowed me to babble on quite a bit here and produce some valuable written content for our blog. Watch out we have a whopping 6 registered readers for our email feed. oooh!

We survived a close match on Sunday that saw a few injured players. Fortunately no one our team suffered more than cut or bruise, but the other team were down at least one man due to injury. If we are not more careful, Bickford United may gain an unsavory reputation in the league that instigates aggression from the other team. While we are all playing to win, it is important to remember the real reason we are there - to have fun! We had at least one yellow, a penalty, a few fouls and I don't know how many warnings. If the Russian ref didn't have such a soft spot for Da Costa it could have been a much different result. We got the tie in the end and everyone played a good game.

I also wanted to mention the historical news from the English Premiership on sunday when Tottenham Hostspur defeated Wigan 9 - 1. Not only is the second biggest win in Premiership history, but Wigan fans were also issued a full refund being so blatantly embarrassed. Go on Spurs!

I have been wanting to write this blog post all week to congratulate us all on a fantastic game last Sunday, that lead to our first victory of the season. Our defense was solid and we were on the ball offensively too. I can say that Yuri sent several perfect balls my way for chances on goal. A corner kick from Yuri found the head of yours truly to put us on top. It was my first goal of the season and just wanted to mention that I will only do the robot dance again if I get hat trick!

We are also saying goodbye to Kobi this week as he heads back to his native Thailand. Kobi has been playing with us regularly over the summer and was one of the first on our team to score this season. Thanks for your efforts Kobi and all the best, I am sure you will keep up with the team via the blog and we look forward to some comments.

Hello fellas, our next game is against "Football Nation AM3W." Not sure where they got their name from but it does not matter. This should be our first win of the season. Correction this will be our first win of the season!

One thing that I think will help everyone out is to keep moving and running even when you don't have the ball. Keep running to find open space. Fast passing of the ball. Let's get the first goal and strike the Football Nation like lightning!

Bickford Review

Good game today guys, a close high scoring game that unfortunately for us lead to another loss. On the brighter side this was a much better game than the first, and we have began to realize plays that work in order to score goals, more importantly we played well as a team. Next game I (Perry) will playing defense with Neil Da Costa as we have too many strikers. I do not usually play defense but I will be sure to always be last man back and look forward to fellow strikers that are open to receive a good pass.

Next game we are playing the team that is top of the table but I think this could be our first win as we become more used to the indoor environment. If you check our team leaders you will see that Jonathan Rhodes is in the lead, Kobi and Arjun are yet to be added or some system error has occurred. Our next game is the day after Halloween and details are below:

New blog for a new season

Hi guys (and girl),

This our new blog that will allow us to stay up to date with latest team news as we gear up for our first regular season. The blog is created and managed by me, Perry, but anyone who is interested in posting and updating the blog let me know and I will grant you access.

As the season goes on I can include a table to show season standings, although we all know where on the table we will be...Number 1!!!
