Biegler Library Closure

In an effort to consolidate library collections and services, the Louis W. Biegler Library on IIT’s Rice Campus will close on Friday, May 17, 2013. The last day to pickup or drop off books at Biegler Library will be Friday, May 10, 2013. Students, faculty and staff will continue to have access to library services and resources through the Paul V. Galvin Library on Main Campus.

Engineers Day 2/23/13

The 29th annual Engineers Week Expo will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 on IIT’s Rice Campus. The expo is geared toward children in K-8th grade, however children and adults alike will enjoy this interactive event.

The library will be open 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM during the event.

Sharpen Your Research Skills

It’s never too early in the semester to improve your research skills. The library will be hosting a 30 minute class designed to help students learn how to do library research more effectively. All four classes listed below contain the same content, just choose one that fits your schedule. Topics include:

Finding books
Finding journals and articles
Using the databases
Classes will be held:

Monday, February 4 from 5:45 to 6:15

Tuesday, February 5 from 5:45 to 6:15

Wednesday, February 6 from 5:45 to 6:15

Thursday, February 7 from 5:45 to 6:15

No registration is necessary. We hope to see you there!

Biegler Library Will be Closed on 1/21/13

Biegler Library will be closed on Monday, January 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

The library will re-open on Tuesday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m.

Biegler Library Hours During Winter Break

Winter Break begins on December 10. Biegler Library will observe the following hours during the break:

Monday – Thursday 2:00pm – 7:00pm

Friday 9:00am – 2:00pm

Closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Biegler Library will close on Friday, December 21 and reopen on Wednesday, January 2.

Library materials may be returned at any time by leaving them in Biegler Library’s drop box located outside the main entrance to the Rice Campus.

The library will resume normal operating hours on Monday, January 14. Our daily hours and upcoming closures can be viewed on our Hours page.

Winter Break Borrowing Privileges

If you have not registered for Spring 2013 classes, but would like to borrow materials during the winter break, you must fill out the Semester Break Form.

Privileges granted through this form last until January 13, 2013.

Labor Day Weekend Hours

Biegler Library will be closed in observance of Labor Day from Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3. The library will resume normal hours on Tuesday, September 4.

Fourth of July Holiday Hours

In observance of Independence Day Biegler Library will close at noon on Tuesday, July 3 and reopen at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5.

Summer Reading

Did you know that Biegler Library has a fiction collection? If you have some more free time now that summer is here, stop by the library and take a look. The collection includes titles by authors such as Steve Berry, Dick Francis, John Grisham, Steve Martini, Brad Meltzer and Jennifer Weiner to name a few.
