Big Brother - Season 9 Finale Recap!

The moment is finally here – the last hour of season nine of Big Brother. Who will get the prize - frat boy Ryan and his droopy shorts, or “A-Balla”-scratcher Adam?

Personally, I don’t really care who wins tonight. I’m more interested in the evicted houseguests. Will Natalie talk in her pre-kindergarten diary room voice? How many mentions will we get that Sheila is a single mom? Most importantly, how sexy will my girl Chelsia look tonight?

We begin with Julie Chen in her trademark pose – left leg just in front of her right, holding cue cards but reading from a prompter. The only difference is there is an audience tonight, including one fool in the back with some sort of handwritten card attached to his head. Oh God, she’s high-fiving people.

Oh boy, we still get a recap, but now it’s of the whole show. But at least I get to see Chelsia walk in wearing a hot little black dress. Seriously, though, aren’t there other things they could use to fill these five minutes? Although I do like reliving the look on Allison’s face as she realizes the alarm wasn’t going to save her.

Oh boy, we get to vote for somebody tonight – favorite juror! God, please don’t let it be Sheila or Natalie. But first…we get to see Sheila’s entrance into the jury house. Instead of being in the house, though, the six have to come sit outside and babble nonsense while they wait.

Natalie hopes the last juror is Ryan. Josh doesn’t agree, but Natalie is still pissed at Ryan. Josh, though counters, that Adam always went with the majority, and “at least Ryan had a backbone”.

Ultimately, Natalie thinks it will be Sheila that they will be seeing, so Matt asks what if she’s the one who won HOH. Josh says she “cannot even get herself out of a wet paper bag”. At that very moment, Sheila walks in. After hugging everybody, Sheila tells them that Adam did “what he usually does” and screwed her over. What? Oh, according to her, the fact that Adam didn’t win the final HOH competition means he gave it up. Hmmmm. That was a pure guessing game.

It gets better – Sheila claims that Adam knew if he’d go to the final two with her that she’d get all the votes. The other six sit quietly after that remark. What a shock, though. Sheila wants Ryan to get all the money simply because Adam didn’t win. Well, bitch, why didn’t you step up and win a competition? Oh yeah, you’re scared of water because you once almost drowned, and moving things also frighten you.

They move on to how they’re going to vote. Sheila claims she’s in a “moral dilemma” with both of them, while Matt says he’s going to look at who was the most competitive, including “who outsmarted people the most”. Well, with this crew that wasn’t so tough to accomplish. Josh also says that he’s leaning towards Ryan because of the competition wins. Sheila claims that Adam could have won every competition but threw most of them. This goes back and forth for quite some time, but what’s shocking to me is that they’re making it look like we’re all wrong and that Ryan is going to win!

After commercials, we jump into the jury questions. Matt begins with the dreaded question about what he’s going to do with his money. Adam says a hundred grand will go to after-school programs, another “hundred G’s” will go to starting a business, and he babbles about cars and the like. Ryan, though, is a bit taken aback. He’s going to help his mom, and also do “something nice for Jen” (which causes a nice reaction from Chelsia), and he’ll “look” at putting some money to a charity. They all sort of chuckle at this response. “That was the worst answer ever”, says Joshuah.

Sharon brings out “Hoops” (well, not really) and asks why Ryan fed her a bunch of lies about carrying her to the end. She brings up the “look” he gave to Adam. Ryan claims he didn’t want her out of the house, and the he “fought for you all week”. He claims that the decision to keep Sheila was all Adam’s doing. “I wasn’t 100% sure what he was going to do.” Um, that’s quite a lie, Ryan.

My girl Chelsia asks why she should give Ryan the money when he’s going to propose to a person who called him out on national television as a racist. I don’t know what that has to do with anything, but she sure is cute when she’s angry. Oh boy, Ryan’s answer is “I am not a racist. You can ask any of my ‘boyz’ back home.” He still loves the girl to death, though, which Chelsia says was the “wrong answer”.

It’s now Joshuah’s turn, and he goes right at Adam with questions about Throwing competitions, and making Ryan do his dirty work. He admits that he threw the first competition to Ryan, but the last one was “mano to mano”. “I gave my best shot, and lost fairly to Ryan.” He gets a little heated when he goes on about how this game is “not just about competitions”. Josh then lectures him about yelling at a tv screen. Oh boy.

We move on to James, who congratulates them both and says he supports that they had to do whatever it takes to get to where they’re at. He asks Adam why he should get the money over Ryan, and why he should be in the final two over Sheila. “I got dealt a bum deal from when I walked in this door, and I turned that negativity into positivity…I overcame adversity, and took bad things and make them positive for myself.” He goes on to say that him and Sheila had a “50/50” shot at the end, and that he did a lot to bring her as far as she did.

Oh God, it’s time for “Chatty”. “I was supposed to be there with you, you suckers!” Ugh. Josh sneers, and corrects her that at this point there’s only two player left. She asks Adam if it’s true that he was working to get rid of her. He places the blame on the HOH of that week, Sheila, who as usual scowls. “I wasn’t plotting against you, Natalie. They were forcibly plotting you against us.” Sheila complains that he’s throwing her under the bus.

Natalie says he’s “partially telling the truth”, and moves on to Ryan’s part in her eviction. She bitches about how Ryan’s promise to take her to the final two, and since he was the vote that made it a tie why should she vote for him to get the money? “When I said that, Natalie, I did mean that…that was one of the hardest decisions I had to make.” Not a great answer, Ryan.

We conclude with Sheila, and she goes right after Adam. “I want to know why you lied to my face, right to my eyes, and said you were taking me to the end of this game.” Wait, Sheila, earlier you said Adam never looked people in the eye. She goes on about how SHE carried him “a long way”. He says that he was working with others to help her to get the final three, and that she had a fair shot to make it to the final two.

We end with final speeches, and Ryan admits that at times he didn’t always tell the truth. He goes on and on, but for the most part it’s as awful as a Sharon speech. Adam talks about how the decision is based on gameplay, personal relationships, and what they’re going to do with the money. He claims to have come out with something from everybody, which causes another of Josh’s great looks. Um, neither of these guys did very well. Josh complains about Adam’s attitude, which, obviously, Sheila agrees. They all pretty much say that they’re not sure how they’re going to vote…which creates more fake drama for what’s coming up later.

As noted on this site, Ryan and Adam were both pissed at almost everybody in the jury. Adam rants about how James and Chelsia were cool, and that Josh, Sheila, and Sharon were “psychopaths’.

It’s now time for the jury to come in, and boy my girl Chelsia looks hot in her black minidress! Why did they put her in the back so I can’t look at her legs?

After commercials, we go to the two boys in the house. Julie asks Adam how he felt about the jury questions, and he says it was “rough”. Ryan says it was “nervewracking”. After these great answers, we go right to the voting.

Matt goes first, and before voting he says he misses them both, and that they did a great job. “One of you two is taking me to Vegas”. Natalie goes next, and says she still loves them but is voting her “gut instinct”. Josh is warned that he only gets one statement, and he says he’s voting for the best competitor. Sharon says she based her decision on “who was the most loyal in the game”.

Sheila says that after the “roundtable, this is a very easy decision to make” and babbles about honesty and loyalty and trust. James says he hopes they “party away this money”. Good boy! Mmm, Chelsia ends the voting by saying she hopes they “hold your end of the deal”. I don’t know what that means, but damn!

Before we see the votes, though, the first six evicted contestants return to tell the jury what they may have missed. Julie begins by “calling out” Natalie. Oooh, could this be about the late-night escapades? No, it’s about playing both sides. She admits that this was the case, but her loyalty was to the boys. Uh oh, are they going to show it? Matt thinks so, but doesn’t want to say anything. Natalie claims that “karma” is the reason she’s out. Wait, they didn’t talk about it!

Julie turns to Jen, and the uncomfortable position she supposedly had in the house of seeing her boyfriend paired up with another woman. Jen says her feelings toward Allison have not changed after watching the show. “I don’t care for her. She thought she was a better match for my boyfriend than I was.” Allison says she has no hard feelings for Jen, and that they’re a good couple. Jen just shakes her head.

Ryan is then asked about Adam, and the footage of Adam whispering to Ryan is shown. Adam admits that he did it. “He knew! Come one.” Adam is then shown the footage of Josh crying on command. “Damn” is all he says. Everybody else laughs, and for some reason Julie announces the upcoming $25,000 jury prize.

It’s now time to count the votes. Matt’s vote goes to Adam, as does Natalie! Josh votes for Ryan, but Sharon goes for Adam. Sheila voted for Adam, who wins! He’s greeted at the door by a couple of buddies, and then the rest of the house. (It’s revealed later that both James and Chelsia also voted for Adam.)

When we return, Julie scolds Adam that he better do some good with that money. He immediately announces that $100,000 is going to the United Autism Foundation for after school programs. Before we go, though, Julie has to announce the winner of America’s Favorite Juror. Second place somehow went to Sheila (what?), but the winner is James!!! Wow, I bet Natalie is bummed about this!

Just a Few Hours Left - Who Is Going to Win?

So who is going to win? I know we've already had a thread asking this question, but after the stories surrounding the jury questions, I think it may be closer than we initially expected.

Here's how I think the votes will go:

Matt: He apparently asked the dreaded question about how the money will be spent, but I still think he'll vote for Ryan. I know some may think he'll hold a grudge because of the deal that sent Natalie packing, but he may look at that as great game play.

Chelsia: No question in my mind that my girl will vote for Adam.

Joshuah: There's no question that he hates both Ryan and Adam, but it seems that he spent most of the jury time berating Adam. So I think he's a vote for Ryan.

James: Both Ryan and Adam have praised the way James behaved in the jury meeting, but it should be obvious that the fact Adam gave James a chance to save himself will earn his vote.

Natalie: This is a tough call. She was obviously more hooked up with Ryan, but he was also responsible for her departure. Will Adam's whisper at her eviction gain her vote? I think so, but she could easily do the "Christian" thing and forgive Ryan.

Sharon: Another tough call. She's obviously pissed at Ryan, but is it enough to give her vote to Adam? I think so.

Sheila: Who can predict what this psycho will do? She carried everybody, you know, and in her mind it's a crime that she's not in the final. She's mad that Ryan didn't choose her over Adam, even though Ryan told her the night before it wasn't going to happen. But she's also pissed that Adam didn't win that final HOH so he could carry her. How is she going to survive as a 46 year-old single mom? I predict she goes with Adam, but I'd hate to have to rely on her as the deciding vote.

So I hate it at 5 - 2 in favor of Adam, but it could just as easily a 4 -3 win for Ryan. What do you think?

Day Three of Final Two - No Different Than Day One or Two

The feeds are so exciting - sleeping, eating, exercising, and continued talk about how ungrateful Josh, Sharon, and Sheila were in the jury questioning. While I'm no fan of that trio, did these two really believe this silly exercise was going to be all about patting those two on the back?

What makes me laugh is that Ryan now wishes he would have come up with a charity to answer the inevitable "what are you going to do with the money" question. I've said this before, but Survivor is to blame for this. It's nobody's business what either of them do with the money, and the votes should be based on their actions in the house and nothing else.

The Aftermath of the Jury Questioning

The jury questions weren't shown on the feeds, but it was the talk of the night afterwards. Apparently, the boys weren't too happy with Sharon (who claimed she brought out "Hoops" in sequester), Sheila, and Josh. I'm surprised Natalie wasn't included in that list.

Ugh, why even bother having BBAD? I know the game's over so there's no scheming or any reason for these people to do anything but lay around, but come on. Give us some reason to watch.

Maybe they should consider showing us some taped packages during these last few days. How about the best of BBAD? Certainly some people may want to relive the striptease episode, or a compilation of the "worst" of Natalie's crazy theories. Anything but two guys and two guinea pigs sleeping.

Jury Questioning Later Tonight.

The guys were just informed they would have the jury questioning.

Neither was expecting it since neither was a big 'fan' of Big Brother.

The questioning will last for up to four hours and begin at midnight - right after BBAD of course.

I would expect the questioning HGs to be drinking when they are questioning - they have been in the past.

Well well well.... I must admit I hadn't watched the feeds closely today but I did check in and mostly had them on with the sound off - our two guys haven't done much of anything today except eat, sleep and lay around.

I thought the jury questioning might take place today but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Perhaps they are filming the jurors thoughts about Ryan and Adam this evening at the jury house.

If I recall correctly the Jury questioning has taken place at night in the past and I also rememeber that some of the jury members sometimes have had a few drinks before they begin quizzing the final two.

Could Sheila Have Pulled An Upset?

Already people on this board and others are saying that Ryan made a dumb move in keeping Adam. Truthfully, his dumb move was the head gesture to Adam as Sharon was leaving the house. Let's ignore that for this discussion.

Everybody, including those in the house, has their own voting scenarios. I don't see it as so cut and dry. When it comes down to actually voting during the series finale, it's not always friendships and alliances that guide the votes.

So the head gesture is probably ensuring a victory for Adam, but if he kept Sheila instead of Adam I'm not so sure that he'd still have the votes to win. There is still the bias against Jen, and Ryan has created phony alliances with almost everybody in the house.

I could also see some people rewarding Sheila for simply managing to survive despite all of her bitching, poor gameplay, and other phobias and excuses. Yes, being a bad player could have possibly been an asset.

Thank God Ryan made sure that scenario doesn't indeed happen.

Big Brother - Season 9, Episode 32

Hi Kids!!! Here we are with the final regular episode of season nine of Big Brother. Who will be the final HOH? Will either Ryan or Adam keep Sheila? (I sure hope not.)

I must say that it’s weird to have recaps of stuff we saw less than 24 hours ago, but I guess they have to go through this charade. Ooooh, Julie told us about Ryan and Adam’s last second conversation. They really did have to give some sort of explanation as to why Sharon was evicted…but I still say that it’s a shame the most important discussion of the entire season was not shown on the network.

We jump right into the first HOH competition, and Sheila is immediately complaining that it’s cold. “That water was like ice water. It felt like there were cubes in it. I’m up there and I’m freezing cold, and I’m battling one of my biggest fears. I was in Hawaii one time, and I almost drowned. It just terrified me.” Yes, Sheila, you’re always the martyr.

At the same time, Adam and Ryan appear to be having a great time. Adam wants them to raise the platform some more, which pisses Sheila off. “Stop it.” “Stop what?” Adam asks. “What’s up, baby? You’re here in the house, baby. You were on your way out the frickin’ door.”

Yes, they are going to show the conversation! Or are they? The eviction is once again shown, and Sheila says “I was absolutely blown away when Adam decided to keep me. I really was prepared to walk out the door. This is the guy I got set up with on the first day in the house, and I hated him but he turned out to be my best friend.”

Adam and Ryan both explain that it was good moves for them. In Ryan’s case, he didn’t get any “blood on my hands”. For Adam, “I got out a strong threat, and it solidified the bond between Sheila and I.”

Ryan then explains the conversation they had right before last night’s live show. “Adam came to me with a different plan.” We see the beginning of this plan, with Adam praying. Adam explains that it came to him that “Sheila has not proven herself in the past mentally. Sharon has been on the verge of winning the last three HOH’s. She’s been a question off. So why go against her in two ‘mentals’ when I could go against Sheila. And in my eyes, Sheila will keep me even if she does win.”

Adam heads to the kitchen to talk to Ryan. At first, Ryan is adamant that they stick to the original plan, so Adam begins his pitch. “I was thinking, Sheila’s dumb and she’ll be out of here quick, dude.” Classy, baller! He goes on about how Sharon is due to win, and that Sheila will “get nervous and choke”. He promises to quit immediately after Sheila drops out.

Slowly, Ryan is beginning to agree that it may be a better move. Adam continues by bragging that “no way me and you are losing to a 46 year-old woman. It’s an old lady, dude.” Ryan says in the diary room that he believes Adam was being totally truthful, and that it would be an easier road to go through Sheila.

We jump ahead to the moments right after the eviction, and Sheila is bawling because she’s “getting closer and closer to the big prize”. Ryan asks from another room if Sheila thought she was going. “Yes.”

Wow, Sheila really is getting the good edit tonight. We get the acoustic guitar background, as she goes on about how she “would have never dreamt this in a million years. Wow, I made it this far. I so want to make it to the end with Adam.”

We go back (or ahead, I guess) to the HOH competition, and Adam is bragging there’s no way “this old lady” is beating them. Sheila continues to complain about how this situation is remind her of that incident in Hawaii (enough!), but she says she knows she has to keep hanging on.

Now it’s Ryan’s turn to taunt Sheila, which he says the two of them had agreed to do to get her out as quickly as possible. Again, Adam says he wants the platform raised. Sheila says she knows what they’re doing, but the fact that she’s gotten this far into the game is keeping her on the board. “I thought about my son, and I was not going to give up.” Ugh, excuse me while I go vomit.

We’re now a whole 36 minutes into the contest, and Sheila is complaining about hypothermia. Oh boy. Both Adam and Ryan look like they could go for hours. “I’m gonna drop”, she says, and does. “My whole body was freezing”, she explains. “My decision was to fall so that I’m not sick and I can play in the next competition.” That woman has more excuses than anybody I’ve ever seen on television.

Sheila heads into the house, and after a brief discussion Adam does as he promised. There’s no Natalie-ish 90 minute delay with these guys. Ryan says Adam’s move “proved to me that he is going to be truthful and loyal to me.” At the same time, Adam claims that this move is the best move he could make, as both Ryan and Sheila think he’s with them. “I really don’t care as long as one of them takes me to the final two.” (OMG, he actually looked and sounded like Natalie there.)

After commercials, we jump right into the second competition. Obviously, both Adam and Sheila want to win. As Sheila would say, “durrrrr”. This round involves a giant guinea pig wheel and a maze. Spinning the wheel, they have to release balls representing each of this season’s HOH’s, and place them in the correct order.

Adam says the toughest part of this competition is maintaining his balance, and one can’t go too fast. Sheila’s first words about this event is predictably that “it’s a frickin’ nightmare”. She has troubles with the guinea pig wheel, but she’s determined to prove that she “can win something in this game”.

The editors make it appears as if it was a close contest, although Sheila is now complaining that she’s getting dizzy because she “hates roller coaster rides, or anything in motion”. My God, does she have an excuse for everything? I want one of Julie’s questions to be what exactly is a competition that would be perfect for her? Ok, after Sheila’s struggles it no longer looks like the two are close. She does get on a roll, though (or so they want us to think), and completes the task. “Oh my god, what a nightmare!” We get it, Sheila.

After both competitors have finished, Ryan comes out to announce the times. Sheila’s time was 33:26, and Adam mumbles something to Sheila that I can’t comprehend. Adam’s time was 14:55, less than half of Sheila’s! Oh, I get it – he said something to make it sound to Sheila like his time was worse.

It’s now later in the evening, and Adam apologizes after Sheila babbles about how he “kicked her butt. My fate lies in your hands.” He tells her that he wants to take her to the end, and that he’s going to do anything he can to ensure that happens.

Ryan walks in, and Sheila walks out, and the two boys celebrate. “Did I map it out to a ‘t”?” But Adam mentions how he can’t believe he’s going to win $500,000, which pisses off Ryan. Oh boy, could he be keeping Sheila if he wins tonight? “Hey buddy, you don’t have this wrapped up. I think between Adam and I it’s going to be a tossup as to who gets votes from the jury house. I think I might stand a better chance with Sheila.” All three continue to babble about what will work best for them.

It’s now time for the live portion of the show, and Julie immediately asks Sheila about how it feels to be at the mercy of the boys. You can imagine what she babbles, especially when she goes on about how “Adam is starting to look really good to me right now.” Poor guy.

Julie moves on to how confident they’ll get votes from the jury. Ryan has a lot of things going against him, so he rates his chances as a “3”. Sheila mentions the fights she’s had in the house, but finally says she’d say a “4”. Adam’s cocky enough that he goes with the giant figure of…”5”.

We come back from commercials with jury house footage!!! Matt and Josh now act like they’re buds, and Natalie is bummed that she rarely gets any time with Matt. “Usually, whenever I go into a room that Matty’s at, he gets up and leaves.” Matt asks Josh and Chelsia if he seems miserable, and Chelsia says he does “you have been since she came”.

Natalie says her feelings for him go down whenever he’s “mean”. She tells Josh that “I can’t wait to get out of here so I’m around people that like me”. Hahahaha! Josh tells Matt that he’s been very hateful towards her, and Natalie points out that the people who hate her have treated her better than him.

She continues to rant as Sharon walks in. James has a stunned look on his face, and Natalie says she never expected to see her. Josh is also bummed, as he expected her to win. Matt is cocky because “Team Matty has won”. What? Watching the video, Matt notes that Sheila’s only move is to cry. Chelsia notes the eye contact between Adam and Ryan, and that it’s so obvious they’re working together. Matt says it was a “great move”. Sharon is now bummed after this is pointed out, and shows a tiny bit more emotion than she did during the actual eviction. Trust me, though, a tiny tiny bit.

It’s now HOH time, and as always it’s a question contest. Or, as Adam would say, it’s “mental”. The questions are about statements made by those in the jury house, and they have to complete the sentence. The first question is who Matt wishes he was nicer to, and both answer correctly that it was Natalie (which makes both of them laugh).

The next question regards my girl Chelsia, and her biggest regret in the house. Chelsia’s answer about her hometown paper reporting her “showmance”, and they both get it wrong. Josh’s question is next, and it is whom he thinks is the most deserving to win. Finally, they have different answers, and Ryan gets a point for guessing Josh.

It’s James’ turn, and they both guess that his relationship with Chelsia will end, which is correct. Natalie’s question is what is the best “showmance”, and again they both say she’d pick herself. They’re both wrong, which I must admit is surprising.

The final question, which involves Sharon, is about her biggest lie in the house. Ugh, they both answered that she never told a lie. That’s not true, as her biggest lie was that her back hurt in the HOH contest, which means that Ryan is the final HOH! Adam and Ryan shake hands as we go into commercial. Who will Ryan take with him?

Before he evicts, they do get final pleas. Adam stands up and babbles about “bro’s to the end, from the beginning”. Sheila says she doesn’t know what to say, but that she’s followed through with everything he’s said throughout the entire game. Of course, she’s bawling through the entire speech.

It’s now Ryan’s turn, and he says they both deserve to go with him. He tells Adam that his gameplay makes him more deserving to move on, and FINALLY Sheila is evicted…which makes her gasp in disbelief. Really, Sheila? You can’t be shocked. Even those of us who have seen how CBS has edited this episode hasn’t convinced us that evicting Adam was a possibility.

Ryan does give her some encouraging words as she quickly grabs her junk and leaves. Even Julie has to console her. Back in the house, Adam tells Ryan that he did the right thing, and they do their silly “bro-shake”.

Switching back to the She-bot, the Jen-bot asks her what she’s feeling right now. “I thought Adam was going to win this, and take me to the end.” She goes on about how a lot of their bickering was acting, but he really didn’t owe her anything, and (incredulously) “I thought I played a really good game”.

I have to give Julie some credit here, as she brings up the single mom issue and how the money could have changed her life. “You’re walking out of here with no money, but did you learn anything from this experience?” We hear for what I hope is the final time that this was the “toughest thing I’ve ever done”. She’s “really devastated right now” that she didn’t win. Oh god, now we hear how it’s her son’s birthday on Friday…and how she conquered her fear of water in that failed HOH competition. Oh man, it’s just too easy to laugh at her.

We conclude with the goodbye messages, and She-bot manages to stop crying for a couple of minutes. Ryan calls her the “mother of the house”, and that he has respect for how far she made it. Adam says the he misses her already (yeah, sure), and that he’s sorry. She finally smiles at the end of his speech. She tells Julie that she plans to continue to be friends with Adam.

The episode ends with a final meaningless conversation with the final two. Julie calls them the “ultimate ‘bro-mance””. Ugh. Adam says it feels like they’ve known each other since they were kids.

With that the show is over. See you on Sunday for the final!

Ryan got called to the diary room for last second instructions, so Sheila is going full-on to let Adam know that Ryan's not trustworthy. "Why do you owe him?"

Now Adam has been called in, and she's now campaigning to him. She appreciates him for listening to Adam in keeping her over Sharon.

Sheila's the last one to be called in (she sort of begged for it), and Adam is confirming for the last time that they're good.

In thirty minutes, we'll finally see who takes round three of the HOH competition, and who that person decides to take with them to Sunday's finale. Will it be Adam or Ryan, and will they pull off the ultimate swerve and take Sheila with them?

As you may expect, it's pretty quiet in these moments leading up to the show. Sheila is spending what should be her last minutes in the house doing what she does best - bitching about Adam. "Ryan is so glued to Adam's ass, I can't even talk to him. Ryan's been watching him like a friggin' hawk today."

Meanwhile Adam and Ryan are outside smoking. Unfortunately, the producers have no cameras on their last-minute planning.

Ryan and Adam have apparently told each other that if either of them takes Sheila they will give their vote to her for the money - in an effort to make sure they each take one-another to the final 2 no matter who wins the final HoH tonight.

I would imagine that about locks it up - both of them could easily lobby 3 votes (4 including theirs) for Sheila if either was not taken to the final two.

Big Brother - Season 9, Episode 30 Recap

Happy Replacements Reissue Tuesday! Ooops, wrong board. It’s a big day for me, though, as the band that has been the soundtrack of the second half of my life saw the first half of their catalog reissued today with thirty bonus tracks.

But that’s obviously not why I or anybody reading this is here tonight. It’s veto night on Big Brother, and I predict more than one big surprise in this episode.

After the beautiful recap of Natalie leaving, and Adam pissing off Ryan by tipping her off that he wasn’t the vote to evict her (and once again, Julie repeating the recap), we begin the episode. I love how they’re trying to make us think this is truly a live show, when it was actually taped last night.

I still have to laugh at Sheila’s grimace when Ryan says he kept Adam off the block because of the rough week they had last week. Doesn’t he know that Sheila has had it harder than anybody in this house? Actually, it’s been tougher on her than anybody in Big Brother history!

Sheila rushes off to cry. “I was overwhelmed, and then having to hear that lame frickin’ speech from Ryan. Lame! He’s got me between a rock and a hard place.” Sharon is proud because she’s been nominated five times in a row. Well, girlfriend, maybe the law of averages will finally catch up with you. “It’s definitely not the best place to be, but I was nominated because it’s not appropriate at this time for everybody to find out that Ryan and I are working together.”

Adam is happy to not be nominated, but “it’s still up in the air, man. Whoever wins the POV is voting somebody out. I’ll do whatever I gotta do to stay in this house another week.” He celebrates with Ryan, while Sharon goes into console Sheila. Sharon promises to get Sheila off the block, but Sheila says she needs to save herself. “Don’t worry about me.” Sharon says her goal is to make it to the final three with Ryan and Sheila because either of them will take her to the final two.

Ryan walks in and also tries to console Sheila. “You don’t understand. It’s not even about it. The block is just adding to my frickin’ stress in this house.” Oh boy. Ryan smartly walks out of the room, and Sheila whines that the men are running the house. Sharon just repeats, “it is going to be fine. I’m going to make sure we’re here for final three.”

Meanwhile, Ryan is telling Adam that it’s time for Sheila to be sent packing. “I’d rather go with Sharon and (have it) be harder”, Adam replies. Ryan suggests that Adam set up some deal with Sharon, but after Adam says he’s “bad” at making deals he offers to talk to her for him. In the diary room, Adam adds that at this point in the game he’ll do whatever it takes to get himself into the final two. “I’m not going to take a stand for somebody…at this point in the game because it would be stupid to do so.”

Ryan goes off to tell Sharon that Adam wants Sheila gone, and Sharon’s not happy. “If we can get him out, let’s get him out. If I win, put up Adam.” They go back and forth for a bit, but Sharon is adamant she wants Adam gone.

Before I go on, though, I have a question. Weren’t Sheila and Adam supposed to be shackled together right after the HOH meeting? Hasn’t CBS been promising us footage of that silliness? They haven’t been seen shackled yet, and these conversations were obviously after that. In fact, I believe everything we’ve seen so far has come after the veto competition, which has yet to be shown.

Anyway, Sheila is now asking Adam why she should trust him. “I got your back, man, no matter what anybody says. Period.” Sheila says she also has his back, which raises the question what good does that do? “I need to know that if you win POV, you’ll vote for me to stay here. Am I stupid? Am I a fool to put trust in you?” Ok, this is indeed before the POV, as Adam tells Sheila that it’s “crucial”, but all she can do is whine that she’s the one on the block and that he’s done so much that has pissed her off.

It’s now time for the shackles. Again, what us live feed viewers know is that they wore the shackles for a couple of hours, and then took them off for three more before being forced to reattach them. Adam complains that she “could be a little nice about things”, but Sheila says she doesn’t “feel like being nice right now”. She continues to bitch that this is the “ultimate loss in this game”, and also comments how he seems to be quite knowledgeable about these types of restraints. Come on, Sheila, just have fun with it.

Sharon does her annoying squeal, and Ryan laughs that this is the perfect torture for both of them. Adam immediately starts to annoy Sheila by yanking at their restraint. “Stop it!” Ugh. Adam continues to make the best of the situation, while Sheila does nothing but do what she does best. “I hate you.”

After commercials, we again see the shackled couple. Sheila gets up in her bra and panties and calls out for Sharon, who is upstairs with Ryan. “Her and Rye-Bread are scheming hard,” says Adam. Yes, she is, as Sharon says she can’t trust either of them, and their constant bickering reminds her of the relationship she has/had with Jacob. Yes, Sharon, again it’s all about you and Jacob. (Online viewers know how tedious these stories are.) She explains that “no matter how much they fight and bicker, they have a very strong bond, which is very dangerous in this game.” Sharon goes on to tell Ryan that he’ll tell him everything he wants to hear, but in the end he will screw Ryan to save Sheila.

At the same time, Sheila is telling Adam that she thinks he’s going to win, and that “we would do amazing stuff with this money. We are deserving. You and I both.” Adam agrees, while Sharon is also going on about how this is “the most important POV yet.”

Finally, Sheila and Adam are sent to the diary room to remove their restraints, and he also goes on about how annoying the past 24 hours have been. Sheila is now laughing, and even apologizes and says she loves him. “Not really.” Funny how they never mention the real reason she’s been so emotionally unstable – menstrual cramps.

It’s now time for the veto competition. Adam describes the entire set, which is based around race horses. A face and two matching clues must be placed on the horse, and the first one to correctly finish wins. There’s no real need to go on about what everybody says and does in this. Ryan admits that he’s become a “power whore”, Sheila says it is “crucial for her or Adam to win”, Adam says it’s “huge”, and Sharon says that the “worst case scenario” is for Adam or Sheila to win.

As one may expect, Sheila is immediately having trouble. She recalls Matt as being the person in the air in the one competition he won with Natalie. She does jump ahead at one point, or so the CBS editing shows us. Ryan jumps into the lead on the third horse, and goes on to win. Sheila says she’s “scared to death”, as always. Sharon says that Ryan must take her down so Adam doesn’t bounce her.

Again, it’s commercial time, and after we get back we see Ryan lecturing Adam that he’s got to be able to trust him. (I think this segment may be from a few days earlier when Ryan first won HOH.) “You’ve got to understand the trust issues I have with you.” Adam claims that if Ryan wants him to evict Sheila, he will do so. (Yes, this segment was from earlier, as evidenced by Ryan’s comment that he has “total control this week”.)

Now Adam comes to Sharon, and talks about how it sucks that he has to make a choice between her and Sheila. Sharon keeps repeating “I don’t know” until Adam notes that she would definitely take Ryan over him. “No, I wouldn’t.” Adam then makes her a deal. “I’ll keep you if you take me.” He tries to get her to shake on it, but she refuses because she wanted to talk to Ryan first. “What if you don’t tell nobody?”

Sharon runs upstairs to inform Ryan of this encounter. “He’s going to take her. I told you.” She implores Ryan to take her off the block. Well, the editing doesn’t really make it seem that way, but that is how it went down.

At the same time, Sheila goes to Adam and begs him to keep her over Sharon. “I need you to understand that I have your back in this game. If I win frickin’ HOH, you’re coming with me.” That’s a big “if”, Sheila. “I want to stay in this game, Baller.” Well, duh, who doesn’t?

It’s now Adam’s turn to head up to the HOH, and Ryan immediately confronts him about the deal with Sharon. “You trying to cut deals behind my back?” Adam stupidly denies even talking to her. While he somewhat accurately describes the conversation with Sharon, he lies when he says he didn’t offer a deal. Again, he says he has no qualms in giving Sheila the boot. “I don’t know what to believe, dude,” Adam says.

We now go back to Julie, and the inane talk with the final four. Too bad CBS didn’t show the viewers the most important conversation of the day that happened just minutes before this episode was taped. Julie begins with a stupid question to Ryan about the danger of “holding onto all this power”. Ryan says he’s not worried because it’s good for him. As Sheila would say, “durrrr”.

Sharon is congratulated for being the first person in BB history to be nominated for eviction five times in a row. She says she “honestly” doesn’t know why she’s managed to survive every week. Sheila is then asked about being shackled with Adam, and she goes on about how “the day we became singles was the best day of my life in this house, and when I realized that I was going to be shackled with him…made me want to run out the door.” Nice words, Sheila, for the man who in just moments can decide whether you stay or not. For his part, Adam says he “accepts her for what she is, take her or leave her. I’m stuck with her for another week…or maybe not”.

OMG, it’s finally time for the veto meeting. Ryan announces that he has “no need to change my nominations, nor any ulterior motives for changing them”. Sharon addresses the house first, and babbles the same speech she’s given for five straight weeks. Sheila basically just copies her, and hugs Sharon.

Adam stands up, and says it’s not an easy decision but he’s decided to evict Sharon. Sheila is more upset than Sharon (imagine that), so Sharon keeps repeating “it’s ok”. As we wait for the interview with Sharon, we see Sheila bawling. Ryan yells out at her, “did you think you were going?” “Yes,” she sobs.

Julie can’t believe that Sharon is handling her eviction so well. Sharon says she’s a “little” shocked, but “this is a game”. Oh Sharon, you just never run out of clichés. She thinks that Ryan ultimately had more faith in Adam than her, but that he maybe should have listened to her. After once again repeating the “if it’s my time to go” line, we get to the goodbye messages. Wow, nice play by Ryan in saying this wasn’t how he intended this to go. (Of course, these goodbye messages were taped before Ryan and Adam agreed that they should evict her.) Sheila tearfully says Sharon’s taught her a lot in this game and showed her what a “true Christian” is. We conclude with a question about Jacob, and Sharon says she’d like to try to make it work again. As Sheila would say, you think?

We conclude with the beginning of the first of three HOH competitions. As always, round one is an endurance competition. It’s called “Up a Creek”, and they have to balance themselves on a raft as water flows down the platform they’re sitting on. Yeah, I don’t think Sheila’s going to last long. Oh yeah, they also have a rain machine pouring more water on them, which begins as the show concludes.

See you tomorrow, when we see who becomes the final HOH. I’ve got some vintage Replacements to put on my Ipod.
