Crafting the best user experience (UX) is a primary goal when you want to build a great application. People love user-centric products that provide exceptional value and are easy to use with simple navigational interfaces. If you develop applications with such things in mind, you’ll surely make big.

Thus, UI/UX is not something that can be easily overlooked, and that is why it is important to understand trends in this domain. These UX trends are ageless in their impact, and it only makes sense to keep an eye on them to create the best apps with an excellent user experience.

In this article, we will discover the ongoing UX design trends that are smartly shaping the future of this domain and our everyday applications. Let’s begin with a peep at the future of these UX trends.

The Future of UX Trends

The powerful new-age technologies are turning out to be game-changers in defining the future of UX trends. Some of the prominent ones are:

AI revolution

AI has positively impacted many areas, and UX is one of them. With AI, businesses can create highly personalized marketing campaigns or product recommendations for their users. Moreover, guidance bots can also be created, which users can leverage to make their way through all your offerings and find the best ones for them. The AI revolution will continue to enhance the user experience across all industries.

Development of the Metaverse

The development of Metaverse is a UX trend that will continue to rise in the coming years. As more people realize the benefits of AR/VR applications, the Metaverse is going to grow. Metaverse offers businesses and customers a way to connect online and get the customer experience without being physically near.

User-friendly in broader aspects.

User-friendliness just does not end up being easy to use. In the future, this term will become broader and encompass things like accessibility support and other possible help for people with challenging needs. Catering to users with some limitations, like color blindness or hearing or partial visibility, the usability of the product increases, ultimately leading to agile business growth.

Businesses will take a step towards making their applications more friendly to such users by accommodating voice commands and accessibility updates on their apps.

Sophistication scrolling

Scrolling is done by customers when they are looking for items on your website or applications, and a good scrolling experience makes a big difference. Businesses will continue to use parallax scrolling effects to ensure smooth content rolling and transitions among elements on a website.

Extreme personalization of the user experience.

A personalized user experience goes a long way toward building a loyal customer base, and businesses are leveraging extreme personalization for many things. From marketing campaigns to product recommendations and customer support services, the extreme personalization of services is going to rise in the future. And this is the right time to invest in it to establish a one-on-one connection with your customers.

Knowing the future of UX trends, let’s discuss some of them that have huge potential to transform your site experience.

UX Trends to Look Out For

Immersive Reality

Immersive reality is one of the biggest leaps in customer experience that the world has seen in recent times. It augments the real-world elements into the virtual realms, taking the experience a notch higher.

Suppose you are someone who loves to shop in person. But due to some reasons, you cannot go to the store at the moment. With immersive reality solutions developed through AR/VR technologies, you can have the same in-person shopping experience without leaving home.

AR/VR and metaverse technologies are advancing at a rapid pace, enabling businesses across industries from entertainment to education, healthcare, real estate, & more to build high-quality immersive, real-life-like experiences. Leveraging it in their marketing strategies, they will be able to create positive brand emotions, boosting sales.

These AR/VR technologies are bridging the reality gap between the physical and virtual worlds, allowing businesses and customers to connect online and enhance user engagement. Apart from eCommerce strategies, immersive reality is also reshaping the gaming and travel industries by providing riveting experiences in the comfort of your home.

AI-powered Personalization

AI-powered hyper-personalization is another UX trend that will create remarkable experiences for all customers. If you are in an eCommerce business, you can adopt AI-powered personalization for product recommendations based on past purchases or as per the current products the user is checking out.

Additionally, suggesting customers intuitively based on customer behavior through AI algorithms reduces their extensive search time, enhances the site experience, & builds stronger individualistic connections, forming a loyal customer base that keeps coming back to your site. Such curated experiences will help businesses generate more sales.

Personalized chatbots and marketing campaigns also make a huge impact on your brand image among your customers. Marketing teams can leverage machine learning frameworks and techniques to uncover hidden patterns in your operational data and find the best target audience for each campaign, which results in better conversion rates.

Minimalist and Ethical Designs

Minimalism is an upcoming movement that is changing how the content on a website is assembled. Gone are the times when visitors wanted websites full of flashy things and clutter. Today, they are looking for websites that are clutter-free, less confusing, and aesthetic, with fewer elements that are easy to work with.

For instance, the workout apps for a purpose-driven experience. With categorized exercises, videos, routines, & a time tracker, they aim to help you exercise & use the app together without much complexity. Hence, minimalist designs are getting all the love, and if you build value-led digital solutions, you’ll be able to elevate your UX by many folds.

Moreover, following ethical designs significantly focuses on your diverse users, their preferences, personal data, privacy, & online safety. It promotes equality on the internet so that everyone can use apps and websites without being challenged in any way.

Voice-enabled Interfaces

With the growing adoption of voice-controlled devices like smart home controllers and personal digital assistants, voice-assisted user interfaces are also increasing. Companies are enabling voice-controlled features on their websites so that people can access the websites in a hands-free mode.

The best example here is that of Google. By providing users with their own local language-based voice search, they widen their user market & personalization. This also lays the foundation for the future of accessibility solutions, where people with physical challenges can access the internet without facing setbacks.

After getting an insight into these amazing UX trends, you might be ready to adopt them. But as a UX designer, you also need to focus on certain essential factors. So, let’s look at them next.

Essential Factors UX Designers Must Remember

Clear information hierarchy

As a user experience designer, your primary goal is to make information available to users so they can access it easily. By establishing a clear information hierarchy across interfaces, you can hint users to automatically understand information flow. This can be done by mapping an intuitive user journey through different typography and other graphical elements to segment elements on pages.

Responsive design

Nowadays, with a major portion of internet traffic emerging from mobile devices, it is essential to have a responsive design. A responsive design ensures your web pages are easily usable across devices and screen sizes, increasing interactions. Moreover, a responsive design can single-handedly elevate the user experience of any website if it is done correctly.

Contextual design

Context is important in crafting an excellent user experience for websites and applications. When you know how the application will be used, what the target audience of the application is, and what the goals of the application users are, you can create designs that promote achieving those goals easily.

Adaptability

Every UX designer should keep adaptability at the center while designing interfaces and experiences. No matter how innovative an experience is, it does not make sense if the users cannot adopt it. Hence, always create designs that are easy to adapt for all audiences of the application.

Consistency

Keeping a consistent design & performance across your web applications makes it easy to relate to a design, so customers can know their way around different pages. Moreover, consistency also helps in reusing components and colors that relate to your brand better.

Coming to an end, you have learned considerably about the potential & future of UX trends reshaping user experiences. It puts human experiences at the core of technology usage.

We also highlighted the important factors UX designers should keep in mind while designing experiences. So, use all this knowledge together and provide the best user experience to your customers for a failsafe future.

There’s a reason why storytelling is one of the oldest forms of communication in the world. It’s an incredibly effective way to convey a message and connect with people on an emotional level. In fact, studies have shown that storytelling can even change people’s perceptions and beliefs.

However, while storytelling is often thought of as a tool for personal relationships, it can also be an incredibly powerful tool for businesses. In B2B marketing, where building trust and establishing credibility are essential, storytelling can be a great way to connect with potential customers and clients.

In this article, we’re going to explore how storytelling can be used in B2B marketing to create more successful campaigns and build a stronger connection with your target audience.

What Makes Storytelling So Powerful?

There are a few key elements that make storytelling such a powerful communication tool. First, stories are easy to remember and repeat. They’re also more likely to stick with us than facts and figures. This is because stories tap into our emotions and create an emotional connection with the listener.

Second, stories help us make sense of the world around us. They provide context and meaning for the events that we experience. And finally, stories allow us to vicariously experience things that we wouldn’t be able to otherwise.

All of these elements come together to create a powerful way to communicate a message. When used correctly, storytelling can be an incredibly effective marketing tool.

The Importance of Storytelling in B2B Marketing

Beneath all the business jargon and technical details, every B2B company has a story to tell. And in today’s noisy marketplace, that story can be your most powerful asset.

Your customers don’t just want to know what you do; they want to know why you do it. They want to know your company’s history, mission, and the people behind it. Telling these stories will help you connect with your customers on a deeper level and build trust and credibility.

When done correctly, storytelling can be an extremely effective way to market your business. It can help you stand out from the competition, build strong customer relationships, and drive sales. If you’re not incorporating storytelling into your marketing strategy, you’re missing out on a powerful tool that can help your business succeed.

The Core Components of B2B Storytelling

While all stories share some common elements, six key components are critical when telling a story for business purposes.

Branding

Every story should be closely aligned with your brand. Your stories should reinforce your brand identity and help you build a strong, recognizable brand. To do this, you’ll need to be clear about what your brand stands for and make sure that all of your stories support those core values.

Knowledge of Your Target Market

It’s also essential to have a deep understanding of your target market. Who are you trying to reach with your story? What do they care about? What are their pain points? Answering these questions will help you craft a story that resonates with your audience and speaks to their needs.

Emotional Connections

As we mentioned, stories are likelier to stick with us when they create an emotional connection. So, when crafting your story, think about what emotions you want to evoke in your audience. Then, choose the feeling most closely aligned with your brand and ensure that your story elicits that response.

An Effective Narrative

All stories need a beginning, middle, and end. But compelling business stories also need a clear purpose. What is the point of your story? What do you want your audience to take away from it? Keep your story focused, and ensure that it has a solid narrative arc that leads to a specific conclusion.

Data Driven

While stories should be emotive, they also need to be based on reality. Use data to support your story and help your audience understand the magnitude of the problem that you’re solving. Data can be collected from various sources, including customer surveys, social media analytics, and Google Analytics.

Personalized

Finally, your story should be personalized to your audience. It should feel relevant and relatable to them. To do this, you might want to use first-person storytelling or share a customer testimonial. You can also try using humor or addressing a common pain point your target market experiences.

Practical Ways Businesses Can Use Storytelling In Their Marketing Campaigns

Now that we’ve gone over the basics of what makes a good business story, let’s look at four practical ways you can use storytelling in your marketing campaigns.

Customer Testimonials

One of the simplest and most effective ways to incorporate storytelling into your marketing is to showcase customer testimonials. Customer stories are a great way to build trust and credibility with potential customers. In addition, they provide social proof that your product or service can deliver on its promises.

To create a compelling customer testimonial, you’ll want to choose a satisfied customer willing to speak candidly about their experience. Then, you’ll want to interview them about their story. What problem were they facing before they found your product? How did your product help them solve that problem? What would they say to someone who is considering trying your product? Answering these questions will help you craft a strong customer story that will resonate with your target market.

Product Videos

Another great way to use storytelling in your video marketing campaigns is to create product videos. Product videos are a great way to showcase the features and benefits of your product in a relatable way. They can also be used to highlight customer testimonials or case studies.

When creating a product video, start by outlining the key points you want to communicate. Then, you’ll want to choose a format that will help you tell your story in an engaging way. You might want to use animation, live-action footage, or a mix of both. Once you’ve decided on a format, you’ll need to produce the video and promote it through your channels.

Social Media Stories

Social media video production and stories are a great way to connect with your audience on a more personal level. They’re also a great way to showcase your product or highlight customer testimonials. You can use social media stories to take your audience behind the scenes of your business or give them a sneak peek of new products or services.

In order to get the best results from a social media story, you’ll choose the platform that makes the most sense for your brand. Then, you’ll want to decide what type of content you want to share. Will you be sharing photos, videos, or both? Once you’ve decided on the format, you’ll need to produce and promote the content through your channels.

Blog Posts

You can also use storytelling in your blog posts to engage your readers and communicate your brand message. When writing a story-driven blog post, you’ll want to start by choosing a topic that will be of interest to your audience. Then, you’ll want to select a format that will help you tell your story in an engaging way. You might want to use a first-person narrative, customer testimonials, or case studies. Once you’ve decided on a format, you’ll need to write the blog post and promote it through your channels.

Let Storytelling Drive Your B2B Marketing Success

As you can see, there are many ways that you can use storytelling in your marketing campaigns. When done correctly, storytelling can be a powerful tool for engaging your audience and driving conversions. By following the tips outlined in this article, you can start using storytelling to get better campaign results and take your business to the next level.

A note from the editor: this guest post reminds us to keep things up-to-date when it comes to running a business. I experienced first hand the pain of my domain not properly renewing, and ended up losing a month of work. No bueno!

As in every niche of life, keeping things current and in order with your business is a task every owner has on their long, tedious to-do list. When it comes to maneuvering the flux of businesses, it seems like there are a million things to consider.

Is your licensing up to date?

Have you evaluated your bank for a better rate at another?

Are your taxes done? Expenses properly reported?

Shopped around for better insurance recently?

Even the smallest of issues can have impacts on your business. For instance, not keeping your domain updated.

Once you have decided to tackle your business checklist, why not double-back
to make sure you haven’t missed anything in the whirlwind of your busy life? While
you’re at it, make sure you add a few things.

The Legal Side

With so many legal matters to tend to in the business world, making sure
that you are properly covered is necessary. There are a multitude of resources to
help you learn how
to update articles of organization.

If you have recently married and changed your name, moved into a new
location, switched banks, or simply changed your phone number, that info needs updating.
Though you might get stuck reading a ton of fine print, it’s relatively quick
and simple to update stuff like this. Bonus, you get to check it off that long
list!

The Virtual Side

In this tech-savvy business age, keeping your website domain current is
mandatory. Your website is your main point of contact, and sometimes a hub of
customer interaction. It’s where the revenue for your business often
originates.

Changing your domain name isn’t always a walk in the park, but you can at
least make sure the email for your website is up to date and active, as well
any other contact information you have on display. Think about all of the
simple questions that your customer might have when visiting your platform.

They might ask things like:

“Where is this business located?”

“What are the hours of operation?”

“What is the business providing

“Where did this company originate?”

Keeping broad information up to date is just as important as the specifics.

Aside from basic information to keep current, all of your interactive
platforms should also be updated in waves, too. If products can be purchased
through your domain, double check your selection and purchasing process, and correct
any issues for maximum user-friendliness.

Customer feedback is of the utmost importance online, and in the era of
smartphones, society relies on the ease of purchasing via a touch of a button.

Don’t forget the technical applications you use as a business owner to boost
and keep track of your organization. If you advertise online, or through an
affiliate partner, double-check the guidelines and make sure your adverts are
up-to-date. It’s not only smart for profit purposes, it keeps your customers properly
informed.

Accounting and productivity applications are yet another techy branch that
needs to be taken seriously. Applications to track
and maintain productivity can truly help your business flourish current
and correct information is put into them each day, week, month, or quarter.

The Trendy Side

While updating licensure and contact information is a top priority, you
should never overlook the everyday content of your business. Staying up to date
means more than just making sure your address is current.

Trends are not permanent, and customers expect a flow from your business
that matches the fast pace of today’s world. Keeping your platforms
fed with purposeful information that connects to your end-user and
promotes healthy revenue is imperative as well.

It’s not just about your content, services, and products, either. Staying
current on workplace environments for your employees, including safety, health,
and workplace happiness is necessary.

Are your service/products or transportation up to par?

Are your employees happy?

All safety protocols up to code?

A thriving workplace environment boosts morale and, in return, boosts sales
and productivity.

Take the time to consider all aspects of your business as a whole. Your
business is a direct correlation to you, your ethics, and your drive. Wake up
every day with the intention to stay as current as possible. Not only will you provide
a fantastic customer experience, but you will keep your business thriving and
profiting.

A
note from the editor: since we recently celebrated international women’s day, I
thought a guest post about girls appropriate!

Education and Young
Girls in the Contemporary Era

Education is a big deal for youngsters regardless of their specific genders.
It can be a particularly big deal for the young women of the planet. That’s
because girls historically have not been given the same advantages as their
male counterparts have. In many countries, this still rings true.

This is precisely why it’s so critical to zero in on instilling the value of
rock-solid educations in girls. You should go above and beyond to talk to girls
about education and all of its opportunities. You should do so while they’re
impressionable and brimming with youth.

Waiting around to discuss education with the eager girls of the world is
pointless. It can even be destructive. It’s critical for parents, educators,
and the like to make sure that young girls grasp that solid educational
backgrounds can make their existences a lot more promising. Education can make
girls ready for achievements of all sorts. It can make them ready for an
existence that is fulfilling and enjoyable, too.

Speaking with Young
Girls About Education Matters

You shouldn’t hesitate to discuss all sorts of pertinent topics with young girls. Talk to them about high beta stocks and how they may influence matters. Talk to them about all sorts of fields and industries that may be suitable for their career routes as well.

It’s more critical than ever for girls who are young to grasp that the sky
is the limit for them. Girls can go into mathematics if they wish. They can
study and become engineers, brain surgeons, rocket scientists, lawyers and
beyond.

There are no career pathways that aren’t options for girls who are committed
and driven.

It’s also critical to talk about career avenues that are readily accessible
to girls. It’s just as critical to discuss educational approaches. Girls need
to understand that they have to take high school seriously. Thriving in high
school can open them up to all sorts of incredible institutions of higher
learning.

It can help to talk to girls in detail about undergraduate major programs
that may be strong fits for them. It can help to make sure that they understand
the ins and outs of graduate school as well. Some girls may opt to sign up for
law school for three years. Law school can be a logical choice for girls who
have majored in pre-law.

Girls need to have strong role models in their lives.

They need to consistently be in the company of adults who set outstanding
examples for them. If you’re an adult who has a solid educational background
under your belt, talk about it with the young girls who are around you day in
and day out.

If you’re an adult who has a career that makes you feel terrific about yourself, talk about it with them as well. You should aim to motivate young girls and prove to them that tenacity pays off when all is said and done.

Make a point to highlight girls’ skills and talents.

If an adult meets a young girl who has excellent mathematical abilities, he
should talk to her about pursing them. Girls get a lot out of receiving
positive feedback from the adults they admire. Positive reinforcement can go a
long way.

It’s crucial for you to make sure that young girls understand that they can do anything in the world. They’re exactly like boys in that their educational and career choices are in no way restricted in developed countries like America.

Girls can shine in math and deal with complex equations and formulas. They
can shine in languages and in grasping the fundamentals of word origins. You
should make sure that girls know that their brains are just as capable as any
other brain.

You can also talk to girls about the strength of recreational activities. Girls who pursue pastimes and hobbies are often able to tackle their educational journeys more smoothly. It can be terrific for girls to learn how to play the violin or the guitar. It can be amazing for girls to be able to learn how to speak diverse languages.

The sky is the limit when it comes to girls and moving ahead. A big world
awaits that is full of opportunities and advancements.

By Laura Gayle, Business Woman Guide

Like it or not, Game of Thrones has finally concluded. The ending may have been controversial, but there’s no question that the show and all its characters were a metaphor for contemporary society. Although the show was known for its sex and violence (as well as a few dragons), the machinations that went on alongside those sensationalistic scenes can offer insights into how to build followings and maintain popularity and power. Here are 6 strategies and lessons you can take away from Game of Thrones.

Expect Changes — and Surprises

You have to expect change, even if you can’t predict it. You also have to expect that, at some point, you’re going to get a surprise that nearly knocks you and your business off your feet.

Think of the Red Wedding (although any shocks you encounter hopefully won’t be that dire, or graphic) or the shocking destruction of King’s Landing. While you can’t predict exactly what will happen, you can do your best beforehand to make your business flexible enough to absorb any shocks to the system.

Plan for the Worst

On a related note, it’s much better to have a plan in place in case the worst happens — only to find you don’t need that plan because everything worked out swimmingly — than it is to assume things will generally go well, only to find they aren’t.

You don’t want to be seen as an overly negative person, but there’s an advantage to thinking ahead to the ways things could go wrong so you can get out in front of them. Imagine all the difficult situations you might need to prepare for and do so. In that case, the worst that can happen is you’ll find your preparations weren’t needed.

Keep Your Secrets

Along with not being able to predict everything that could happen, you also can’t predict who might turn on you. Hopefully your allies and partners are who they say they are. Nevertheless, it’s prudent to pay attention to any feelings that tell you something might not be right.

In any case, it makes sense to tighten your security measures and guard your secrets, like moving sensitive client and financial information to a secure cloud storage account, for example. News travels fast, in Westeros and in our world, but ravens can’t get into locked files.

Remember: Adversity Is Temporary

Over the course of the show, Cersei went from marrying the king to being pelted with food as she limped through the streets to sitting on the Iron Throne herself. It wasn’t exactly a picnic after that, of course, but it’s worth noting that the levels of adversity she experienced constantly fluctuated. There were times when it was horrendous and embarrassing, and others when things weren’t that dire and, in fact, were looking up.

Keep those shifting tides in mind as you work on your business. You’ll have your high points and your low points, but don’t get caught in the trap of thinking the low points will last forever. Be flexible enough to respond to your situation as it morphs: If your budget suddenly contracts and you need to cut costs, for example, consider moving to a city that’s less costly — like Phoenix, for instance, which boasts a low cost of living and 300 days of sun per year. Or if the bottom drops out of your market, be prepared with a different offering to narrow the gap.

Balance the Big Picture and the Details

You can get lost among the trees and not see the forest, to paraphrase the saying, but it’s dangerous to actually overlook the entire forest. Keep an eye on both the details and the big picture, and do what you can to keep them connected.

Jon Snow tried to downplay the conflicts between the Night’s Watch and the Wildlings, and it didn’t end well; yet, had he focused only on those conflicts, who knows how the battles with the White Walkers would have turned out? Follow his example and pay attention to the details of a project, but also keep an eye on the overall picture and goal — or, at least, seek the counsel of people whose perspectives complement and inform your own.

Watch What You Post

Who needs scribes when your internet usage is essentially a permanent record? To paraphrase the Greyjoy house words: “What is posted may never die.” That means what you post on social media, your blog, in someone’s comments, or elsewhere online will undoubtedly live on in an archive somewhere, even if you think the item is old and has been “lost.” Nope, it’s the internet. Be cautious about what you post. You don’t want anything to come back and haunt you, your reputation, or your business.

Whether you’re wearing chainmail or a blazer, your guidelines for achieving and maintaining the integrity of your organization are similar: Keep an eye on the forces around you as well as inside your own company; plan for the worst; and be vigilant. With or without dragons, you can rule your kingdom accordingly.

Business is built on providing the products and services that people need. So why do so many create marketing, branding, and content as if their customers are robots? We’ve all seen it, the stale tag lines, monotonous blogs filled with marketing links, and websites without a human face in sight. But customers crave information that is relevant, engaging, that helps them to move forward.

Imagine your business is a person having a conversation with someone over a drink. Is it going to talk endlessly about what it can do, how it got to where it is, why it’s great at what it does and then try to sell you some things from its pockets… or does this sound like someone is stuck on a terrible date with a narcissist? This is how customers judge your business.

In an age where people increasingly identify with brands that have local, community and social responsibility links, those self-important tactics are just no longer going to cut it. A recent UK study shows that 42% of people distrust brands because they feel they represent the establishment.

They believe they have too much power, are remote and are unreachable. PwC’s Global Consumer Insights Survey tells the same story, with people ranking ‘trust in brand’ as one of the top three things that most influences their decision as to who to buy from.

So, what can you do to ensure you and your business connect with your customer base on a deeper level? Here are 6 of the most effective ways to humanize your brand and start building those genuine relationships today.

Spark Conversations on Social Media

Where businesses used to use social media
channels to talk only about themselves and their products, many are wising up
to the importance of investing in related content. This is content that is not
directly about your business or its products and services, but about wider
issues in your industry.

For example, if your business provides
financial services, you could produce and promote content about micro-loans in
developing nations. If you sell language training packages, you could discuss
key moments in a culture’s history. If you’re an illustrator, talk about
artists you admire from the past and present. Not only does this practice
provide content that your followers will be interested in reading, it also
shows that you care about spreading knowledge within your industry and have a
genuine passion for your product and field.

Decide on a Brand Personality and Stay True to It

Managing your content and maintaining a
consistent brand personality can be hard work. Making sure your character
resonates across all your platforms requires good design built on a
well-thought-out concept.

If you think of your company as a person,
what kind of person would it be? Is it formal and serious, or fun and jokey? Is
it friendly, authoritative, or both? Once you’ve imagined a profile for your
business’s character, you can start being ‘on brand’ across all of your
platforms.

A good place to start is with your website since most of your other media will lead people back there. Choosing a good website builder, like this one, makes producing a design that reflects who you are all the more simple. Consider colors and graphics that suit your brand’s personality. Once you have this right, the content that you put into it will feel natural and personal, adding to its human quality.

Share User-Generated Content

If your main purpose in humanizing your
brand is to interact more with your customer base, then there is no better way
to do that than to share their content.

While this is not something that works well
for every business, it can be an invaluable tool for most. If you sell products
for ardent travellers, sharing images and stories of their adventures will not
only boost their trust in your company but also inspire your other followers to
get involved.

The more your customers feel comfortable
sending you content of how they are putting your products and services to use,
the more respect you will generate among their networks.

De-sanitize Your ‘About’ Page

The ‘About’ page of a company’s website can
be so dry you could have sworn you’d stumbled into a desert. People migrate to
this often overlooked web page to understand four key things: who you are, what
you do, how you got there and what you believe in.

It’s the last of the four that is often
neglected. It’s all well and good talking up your many qualifications,
professional accolades and all of those times you were promoted in previous
jobs, but people aren’t going to connect with your brand because of your CV. Consumers
increasingly prefer to buy from brands that reflect their own personal values.

Your ‘About’ page should contain the human
story of your business. Not just your successes, but your failures and
struggles. People connect to others more when they can see their faults and shared
pain acts as a kind of ‘social glue’ that promotes solidarity and togetherness.
Avoid discussing your promotions and instead discuss the events in your life
that motivated you to become the type of business that you are.

Do you invest in local people because you
grew up in the community in which you operate? Were you inspired to run a
carbon-neutral operation after that month you spent watching the sea lapping at
people’s houses in some beautiful South Pacific Island nation? These are the
stories your customers want to hear.

Share Some Content Just for Fun

Ever heard someone say the quickest way to
make a good impression is to make someone laugh? A surprising number of studies
support the idea that people build social bonds through laughter. Making
someone chuckle triggers a release of endorphins in the brain that instantly
endears them to the joke-maker, and this is true whether that is a person or an
entity like a company.

Using humor well on social media can have a big impact, but there is a fine balance between a bit of light fun and being the catalyst for a mass-cringe. No one likes that person who tries really hard to be funny all of the time.

If you’re sharing content for fun, make
sure you actually enjoy it yourself and that it doesn’t serve a more cynical
purpose. If you share something humorous for click-bait or as a thinly-veiled
marketing ploy, you’ll have undone all of the hard work you’ve been putting in
to coming across as a real person.

Talk Up Your Employees

Behind most brands, there are hard-working
staff putting in the hours to make everything work. And they can be, not only
one of your most important resources, but the best demonstration of your
brand’s humanity. After all, employees are people.

One way you can put a face on your business
is to showcase your employees through your content: in blogs, on your website
and across your social media channels. Have photos of your office interactions
on Instagram, announce thank yous and congratulation messages for your
employees on your Facebook page and interact with your staff on Twitter.

Your employees are bound to have colorful stories of how they reached you, or of other aspects of their lives, so share them. Run a regular ‘A story shared’ feature on different staff members, where they get to describe themselves and their backgrounds. And not just about their work for you, but for the sake of the story alone.

Demonstrate that your brand is driven by
dynamic people and your customers will find your business all the more
relatable.

Spending some time humanizing your brand is one of the most powerful marketing actions you could take in 2019. It has the power to permanently alter the way your customers feel about the transactions between you. Instead of feeling that they are giving you something, you’ll share in a two-way relationship, one that avoids that feeling of being exploited or tricked, and instead feels like a mutual partnership. It’s these positive social experiences that will keep your customers returning for more and help your business grow.

Over to You

What are some ways you humanize your brand?

Being the boss sounds enticing, but in retrospect, most entrepreneurs would agree that it’s not the glitz and glam you may have believed it to be. True, there are perks to owning a business.

You can work on something you’re passionate about, use your own visions, control the direction, and, if you succeed, you can also earn a decent living. Yet, to experience the positives of being an entrepreneur also means taking the good with the bad.

There are many hurdles you’ll have to jump over to achieve success.

You must develop your own formula for taking your ideas and turning them into a business that will benefit a large demographic while learning how to create a brand that can withstand the competition.

There are a lot of elements to this and falling off or missing one can mean the end of your business.

Learning to be prepared for those barriers may not prevent them from trying to block your path, but it can make them a lot easier to overcome. Below is some advice on how to beat the hurdles of being an entrepreneur.

Start Something You’re Passionate About

Obviously, you want your business to make money, but that cannot be the driving force behind why you start it. As you’ll soon find out, the first few years of owning your own business may not generate that much revenue.

That’s because you’ll need to invest into the company to make it a success. If you’re doing something just to make money, when you’re not making a cent, you’ll become uninspired to press on.

When there’s passion involved, however, it pushes you to heights you didn’t even know you could reach. So, think of ideas that tie to who you are and what would serve a higher purpose.

Always Have a Backup Plan

When ideas or decisions don’t work out as you had hoped, it’s important to be prepared. The time you waste crying over spilled milk could be used for pouring yourself another glass.

Do your research on common hurdles in starting a business and try to create a plan of action to prevent or minimize the blow to your company.

For example, poor cash flow management is one of the top reasons that businesses fail. How can you prevent this? By setting up an organized invoicing system and also being prepared for the worst.

If you were a trucking company owner and clients weren’t paying their invoices in a timely manner, you might look to service providers like TBS Factoring to help you out. They can provide you with the cash (minus rates and fees) from unpaid invoices so you can use that money to keep your business afloat.

Learn Something From Every Setback

During your entrepreneurial journey, there will be a lot of setbacks. As you learn to navigate these professional waters, you’ll make a lot of mistakes and ill-informed decisions that set you back a bit.

This is a natural part of the process, of learning what works and what doesn’t for your brand. When mistakes are made, acknowledge them and try to find the silver lining.

What wisdom can be gleaned from your mistakes? How can you prevent those mistakes from happening in the future?

It is often failure and disappointment that breeds success, so don’t become stagnated because of a mistake. Accept it, learn from it, and move on.

Surround Yourself with a Good Network

Anyone who has been successful in business has done so with the help of others. Surrounding yourself with positive, like-minded, business professionals can prove more valuable than any other business resource.

The right network, from mentors and business associates, to your staff and customers, can provide you with fresh advice and also be a lifeline when you’re going through difficult times. Be as social as you can and when you connect with good people, continue to cultivate those relationships.
