Bands come together in various ways, usually by chance meetings, Craigslist ads, or music class- but few can say their lineup was created after sharing the experience of playing in a backing band for one of the biggest bands in the world. The alternative rock band,Ocean Grove, will be self-releasing their new EP, Another Place To Stay, on June 21st. Most recently performing 2 sold-out shows in NY (Gramercy Theater) and LA (The Troubadour), the band will take the stage again in support of the release. Ocean Grove will be touring with He Is We.

After touring the globe and enjoying some of the greatest times of their lives, John Taylor (vocals/guitar), Ryan Liestman (keys/backing vocals), Greg Garbowsky (bass/backing vocals), Jack Lawless (drums) decided it was time to start their own project, one that would see them develop a truly unique rock n’ roll sound – Ocean Grove.

Once Ocean Grove finished their tour commitments, they were ready to record their first EP Little Record. In Spring 2010, they spent time in LA writing with various co-writers, but once recorded, the band knew the EP wasn’t the exact direction they had hoped to take. They packed up and went back to the East coast- to Ocean Grove, New Jersey.

There, the band shacked up in a beautiful Victorian home near the ocean to focus on a real and more rock n’ roll sound. After recording 14 songs in two weeks, Ocean Grove finally felt they had come into their own. The EP, Another Place to Stay, mixed by Paul Hager (Van Halen, Goo Goo Dolls, American Hi-Fi) and mastered by renowned recording studio, Sterling Sound (Adele, Green Day) is an EP filled with feel good songs pulling from their greatest influences such as The Beach Boys, Tom Petty, and Weezer. The inspiration for the EP came from years of experiences and all the little things life throws our way.

The band is proud of all their past accomplishments like having played with acts such as Stevie Wonder, Brad Paisely, Vince Gill and performing on over 50 television shows, but Ocean Grove is ready to continue something truly special and all their own, just like their bond as a band. With their new EP, and positive outlook on all that’s to come, they are ready for just about anything.

Another Place to Stay will be available on iTunes on June 21st.

NEW YORK. JUNE 2, 2011 - Vocalist Alex Young releases a new song “Something’s Coming” along with a haunting, “unplugged” video. An intentional departure from her sensational Pop videos “COLD” & “Government Name,” Young created this grassroots video as a resonant call-to-action for this generation and has plugged it all into www.somethingscoming.org as a springboard to action.

Young will be donating a portion of the profits from iTunes sales of the single to Global Giving and The Hunger Project, providing support for disaster relief in Japan and locally, where it is needed most. Both charities work towards bringing about worldwide change, calling upon humanitarians from every corner of the world to make a difference. For more information, please visit: www.globalgiving.org and www.thp.org.

“With all of the social, economic and environmental turmoil we are experiencing in the World today, I wanted to dedicate a song to that reality and through it generate a sense of human responsibility, connection and a call to action for changing our trajectory,” says Young.

In support of the release of her new single, Young has been hand-selected by a major fashion publication and SoHo House to perform at the elite club in NYC, Los Angeles, Miami, and Germany as part of a special promotion. Young will also be launching, “A Young Rose” (http://www.ayoungrose.com) free spirited fashion line in early Summer 2011 in collaboration with the Sofistafunk Skirt Company.

Alex truly unleashed her talent with the release of her 2010 single and music video for “Government Name” which was declared “a definite top song for the year – no question” by elite producer, Philip “Taj” Jackson. To watch the video for “Government Name”, visit: http://bit.ly/iO2ti4. Young is now poised to drop two hot new singles this summer 2011. The singer affirms, “Real dance in your room all night long music candy!”

With the help of Philip “Taj” Jackson (Rihanna, Janet Jackson) a two-time Grammy nominee and winner of the 2008 ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award, Young released her debut album, “Amazing.” The team of producers that worked with Young reads like a who’s who of industry heavyweights. The “Amazing” albumfeatures the contributions of multi-platinum producer, Amadeus Thompson (Trez Songz, 50 Cent, Danity Kane, Lil Wayne), Cuttfather (Ace of Base, Santana) and Jonas Jeberg (Pussycat Dolls, Kylie Minogue, Jordin Sparks). Young’s vocal talents and prolific nature were brought to the forefront with the result being a dynamic mix of sounds that range from ethereal new wave-inspired pop (“Broken Heart”) to romantic balladry (“Amazing”) to synth-driven club bangers (“COLD” and “Heart Stop”).

Through it all, Young’s message and hope for her music are identical to her bigger role as an inspiration for others. “I really want to make a mark as a pop artist in an active, positive light,” says the singer. “It really only takes one person, who’s inspiring, to ignite a revolution of change.”

There For Tomorrow’s sophomore album “The Verge,” produced by Michael Elvis Baskette (Incubus, Chevelle, Alter Bridge) symbolizes something much larger for the band than a new record. “The Verge” will describe the passion and intensity the band felt while recording their newest project and how it came together so honestly and organically. “Hunt was one of the songs that was really spurred off solely from what was happening melodically with my vocal. There was heavy attention paid to what was going on lyrically, so the musical make-up really reflects what I’m saying every step of the way. We’ve never really expressed this type of blunt frustration, but the slight aggression in every part of this song came so naturally. There’s a real sense of dissatisfaction in the song with how things are going on today within the world of music. Some may take the meaning and pertain it to social issues, some politics, but the interpretation is open for anyone to use as a tool in fighting back against opposing forces. It is a call out against all things illegitimate and superficial,” says front man Maika Maile.

“The Verge” is filled with the rawest material There For Tomorrow have put out to date- being a true testament to not second guessing yourself, or your work- something the band stands strongly for.

There For Tomorrow got their original start in high school, where many bands come and go, but forming in the younger years of their lives only bonded There For Tomorrow into a stronger unit. Maika Maile (vocals/guitar), Christian Climer (guitar/vocals), Jay Enriquez (bass/vocals) and Christopher Kamrada had experienced more together in their school days than most bands see in their whole careers.

Since their signing to Hopeless, There For Tomorrow released a self-titled EP in 2008 and their first full-length A Little Faster in 2009. After the EP’s release, they opened up on tour for Anberlin and went on to win the MTVU Woodie Award for Breakout Artist of the Year, beating out acts such as All Time Low and We the Kings.

They continued their avid momentum by playing on the 2009 Vans Warped Tour and the 2010 Take Action Tour. And not only is their national fan base growing, but their international as well- having toured in countries including Japan, the UK, Europe, and Australia for Soundwave Festival 2011. But in the midst of constant touring, the band was ready to record their next full length, and quite possibly their most important.

“The road has narrowed down so much for us from traveling the world and gaining experiences. We want our new album to really represent us and our passion- our mentality of where we’re going as a group and how we’ve changed,” says lead singer Maika Maile.

There For Tomorrow will be playing all dates on the 2011 Vans Warped Tour as well as 8-kickoff headlining shows. Their sophomore LP, “The Verge,” will be released on June 28, 2011. For a list of dates go to www.vanswarpedtour.com/dates

Safety Word Orange, they’re the band you should know and will know once their EP “Acceptance” hits shelves on June 14th. Just days before its release date we caught up with the band and got the 411 on the makings of the new album.

Sinister Girlz: Your new EP, “Acceptance”, will comes out on June 14th what can audiences expect from the record? (sound wise, lyrically, etc.)

Safety Word Orange: This EP has a little bit of everything. Sound wise, it doesn’t stray too much from the last record, On Your Mark, Get Set…, however; as a band I think its important to constantly continue to grow and make “new” music, so I feel as though we have progressed in that aspect. I think we all grew a lot as musicians in the time between our last EP and Acceptance. The EP is only four songs, so when we went into the studio we wanted each song to be able to stand on its own. We have a pumped song, and fun song, a slower jam, and then our single, Breathe, which is sort of a mix between the others in terms of sound. Lyrically, this record is pretty real. We aren’t sugar coating anything or singing about non-sense. Since last year when we put out, On Your Mark, we have all gone through a lot of struggles personally, and as a band. I think this record reflects just that. Audiences should expect a Safety Word Orange record with an extra dash of substance.

Waltham, MA – May 25, 2011 – Elsevier/Focal Press is proud to announce that they will be releasing filmmaking icon Lloyd Kaufman’s sixth book “Sell Your Own Damn Movie!” on June 16th. This is Mr. Kaufman’s fourth book in the “Your Own Damn Film School” series following “Make Your Own Damn Movie”, “Direct Your Own Damn Movie!” and “Produce Your Own Damn Movie!” The book will include a foreword by Stan Lee, the legendary co-creator of Spider-Man and Iron Man.

“Sell Your Own Damn Movie!” covers everything you need to do to get your finished film seen by ticket-buying movie-goers, festival-goers, web-viewers, DVD-buyers, spinoff merchandise-buyers, etc. around the world. Mr. Kaufman recounts his own front-line stories of how Troma Entertainment has successfully distributed movies for over 35 years. He devotes equal time in his book to insightful interviews with distribution pros. You will learn formulas for success from the distributors of mainstream studio releases like “Twilight” and “Paranormal Activity”, as well as from the distributors of revolutionary “no-distribution budget” movies such as “Sita Sings The Blues” and “Bomb It”. Filled with anecdotes both entertaining and informative, “Sell Your Own Damn Movie” is an engaging and educational guide to the many ways you can get your film out there, either through a distributor or all on your own.

Lloyd Kaufman is one of the very few genuine auteur filmmakers. He has written, produced, and directed more than 25 films, including “The Toxic Avenger”, “Terror Firmer”, “Tromeo and Juliet”, and “Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead”. Kaufman is president of the world-famous Troma Entertainment, the oldest and, arguably, the longest-running truly independent film studio in history. He is also the Chairman of the IFTA (Independent Film & Television Alliance), whose members produce more than 400 independent films and countless hours of television programming each year and generate more than $4 billion in distribution revenues annually.
