A common question amongst young entrepreneurs, " How to design my site for SEO?"

Find the perfect website hosting provider without breaking a sweat!

Rising sea levels pose a threat.

The rising sea levels won't affect everyone, right?

Wrong. Many would think that simply living a couple of hundred meters above sea level makes them safe, however, they would be wrong. Your living area may not get flooded but the water itself is the smallest part of the problem. Seas influence climate, which can change dramatically under new circumstances. We get most of our water from freshwater sources and they are also constantly degrading. So, in fact, everyone will feel the consequences of rising water levels.

How much exactly does the sea level rise?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GmeLmJBC6NI/SgF5mMSXQaI/AAAAAAAAAKU/1xN_bV899co/s320/3047060508_59c7fb4ac7.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="Cottesloe beach." />

This picture was taken on Cottesloe beach, western Australia. You can see a rough estimate of how much the water will move inland. People have been measuring sea levels during the twentieth century, and we can look back on that data. According to what our predecessors have gathered, sea levels have been rising 1.8 mm. per year during the last century. These days, scientists utilize satellites in order to research the ocean surfaces. Since 1993, sea levels rose for about 3.3 mm per year, that's twice as much as before.

Why do the sea levels rise?

Some think that this is a part of some kind of cycle. Truth is, we don't have enough information to confirm that. However, there is also solid evidence that the rise is occurring because of global warming. Research showed that more than ten years ago, sea levels rose because of water expanse due to warmth. These days, however, roughly 80% of the rise can be attributed to melting glaciers. According to research done by the GRACE mission, the Greenland ice sheet declines by 150 gigatons ( 150 billion tons) each year. Ice from Greenland and Antarctica causes a water level rise of 1 mm. per year.

In conclusion, not much is know about just how rising sea levels will affect our homes or, in a wider sense, our planet. The human race has never recorded such an experience so we'll have to wait and see.

Find the best host for your website or blog

Never has having your own website been as simple as today. The North Atlantic is believed to be the largest carbon dioxide absorber on the face of the Earth. The gas dissolves on the surface and slowly sinks to the bottom, staying there for roughly 1500 years. The North Atlantic has absorbed approximately 30 percent of all man-made carbon dioxide over the last 250 years. However, recent studies have shown us that the ocean's carbon dioxide absorption levels are decreasing. Scientists set out to find out why.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_GmeLmJBC6NI/Sd83N9TJgYI/AAAAAAAAAKM/XlSYHB42jXM/s320/689663_13969555.jpg" border="0" alt="Thanks to stock exchange."id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323033997507920258" />

Professor Helmuth Thomas wrote about this study in in Global Biogeochemical Cycles. Previous observations showed that the North Atlantic carbon uptake has decreased over 50 percent during the last 10 years. Dr. Thomas and his team proved that this phenomenon did not occur due to climate change caused by industrious activity. Instead, it is a part of a cycle, dubbed as the North Atlantic Oscillation. We should not worry, for during the next years an increase in carbon dioxide uptake might be noticed. The study brought useful results, as now scientists will be able to construct more accurate models and predict the carbon dioxide impact on our environment in the long run. But most importantly, we now know that not all climate changes are caused by man, some are parts of natural cycles, which we now know more about.

Feathers can make anything look good.

People have always used feathers to decorate their rooms, appliances, clothes and other things. This, averagely reaching a length of 11.4 millimeters, amphibian has until now evaded human sight. However, a german herpetologist Edgar Lehr and Swiss-Peruvian ecologist Alessandro Catenazzi managed to spot this unique frog during field work.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 199px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GmeLmJBC6NI/SdpUZnJVk3I/AAAAAAAAAJ8/ueM7sDI4eZo/s320/090406073551.jpg" border="0" alt="Credit to Alessandro Catenazzi"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321658708673270642" />

This picture, emphasizing the frog's size was taken by A. Catenazzi. This creature is obviously very well adapted to it's environment, as can be seen from it's size and brown camouflage. But what exactly is it's environment? That would be the the lowland rainforests of the Andes. This particular discovery was made in the Manu National park. The amphibian lives in altitudes above 3000 meters, a height where most species of animals are larger than in near sea-level areas. So this frog was quite a surprise. This discovery might encourage future explorers to delve deeper into the mysteries of rainforests.

Be insured.

In our times, everything can happen: flooding, fire due to electricity failure, car accidents, burglaries and many more things. Take a look at it's eyes and you'll see that, unlike other birds, it has a dark pupil surrounded by a white iris. However uncommon it is amongst birds, it is, in fact, how our eyes are made. Scientists believe that jackdaws are sensitive to human eye expressions, as they are an important means of communication between the birds themselves.

And researchers have the test results to prove it. The birds were presented with food. It took longer for the birds to get to their chow when the human was looking at it, instead of looking away. However, the birds only hesitated when the person observing them was unfamiliar, and thus a threat.

However similar they may seem, jackdaws are far from being like us. Further research proved that they do not respond to head movements and other bodily clues that we, humans, use in conversation with each other. The birds are unique, though, as even our closest relatives, chimpanzees, do not respond to eye movement as much as them.

DeSantis gun holsters - a fine choice.

Do you own a gun? This is where DeSantis Holsters come in.

During 2008 DeSantis became one of the largest holster manufacturers, offering quality merchandise at competitive prices. It is also the company that produces limited quantity John Wayne holsters and gun belts in honor of the great Western star. As you can imagine, this was quite a delicate task that had to be carried out with great dedication and precision.

If you need a gun holser, consider DeSantis.

Unique galaxies. Messier 104 - the Sombrero Galaxy.

Outer space is very different from the conditions in our own cozy atmosphere. Massive objects of incredible mass affect each other with gravitational force. Without friction, these objects engage in a never-ending dance around their larger counterparts. This leads to many interesting formations of galaxies, one that's worth particular attention is the so-called "Sombrero" galaxy.

It is called the Sombrero galaxy, because, quite obviously, it resembles a sombrero. But why does it have such a distinct form? Other galaxies are much more widespread, aren't they? Well, what you see is just a lot of cosmic dust and gas. Their temperature is low, so the gas is quite visible. Presumably, stars and planets form from these clouds of matter floating around in Messier 104. Besides, this galaxy has a lot more objects in it than others.

Sure, it looks cool, that's what we amateurs see. But this galaxy is of much interest to professional scientists alike. Every galaxy has an object of humongous mass in its center, that keeps all the solar systems inside and prevents them from flying out into all directions. The Sombrero galaxy is no exception. Or perhaps it is? In its center lies, what is called a Supermassive black hole. This was proven by observation, as researchers found out that for the stars to rotate that fast, an object of mass, equal to 1 billion Suns, has to exist.

All that and it's relatively close - 30 million light-years. It can be seen with an amateur telescope, in the Virgo constellation.

Dog - friend or foe?

Are dog bites dangerous to children?

Yes, by all means. We are used to dog as friendly, playful creatures, that keep you company, perhaps guard your home. Many dogs are seen as fitting playmates for little children, and it is indeed so. These animals have feelings, much like our own, towards younglings. They do feel the need or maybe even the responsibility of taking care of those, who can not take care of themselves, be it dogs or human children. However, as every animal (including humans) dogs can be quite unpredictable, and something that might not seem particularly important could very well set off the animal within them.

There has been a study recently, and it's results should concern dog owners all over the world. Apparently, dogs are more prone to attack during warmer months. Therefore, that is the time period when most dog bite injuries occur. It is unknown whether the injury percentage is higher because of children going out to play with their dogs more frequently in summer, or if it's because our four-legged friends become more irritable in warmer temperatures. No wonder, though, as wolves, whom dogs are descended from, are known to inhabit colder zones.

Regrettably, there is no easy solution to decrease the amount of dog bite injuries. One of the possible ways is to keep track of them, their previous history of aggression and what family are they in. Yet in the end, it all depends on you - the owner.

How to always buy only the best merchandice online.

If you are reading this, chances are you have already or are planning to buy something on the internet. Mostly everyone knows giant sites like amazon or ebay, but they only have limited variety in price. Buying from store websites can be a bit trickier, because you have to go through them one by one in order to find the best prices. If you are looking for the lowest prices, I suggest you try finding lowest prices via Shopwiki.com .

Other websites that list items for purchase might give priority to companies who paid a certain fee to get the best spots. With shopwiki, you can rest assured that it will find you the lowest prices no matter what. This website uses a system simlar to google's. They use "crawlers", which check every website and update the system with lowest prices. This also means that you can find almost every item offered by any shop for sale. And as if that wasn't enough, everything's presented in a nice, yet sometimes hard to understand, style.

At the homepage you get a nice list of categories. For this example, let's see babies and toddlers, because there are more young parents in the world now than ever. This opens yet another page, full of quite useful information. The so-called "guides" actually describe why and when should you buy the specific item. Pressing the hyperlinks will take you to the merchandise page with price and availability. Toys and games, might also be of interest to parents. You can find all sorts of games here, from video games to retro toys. If you want your child to enjoy what you might have experienced during your childhood, i would recommend looking at that.

To sum up, this is an essential site for modern internet. I mean, you should not spend hours upon hours in order to save some money. With shopwiki, lowest prices can be found in minutes, saving you a headache and some money

Inexpensive and reliable glasses.

You might have heard of Zenni Optical. Even i have already wrote a post or two about them. Even though, luckily, I don't need glasses myself. Yet. But if you ever had a shadow of doubt about Zenni optical, if you have ever wondered whether it's legitimate, what I'm about to present to you will erase all doubts. The New York Times team published an article about vision correction. Incidentally, Zenni Optical is mentioned as one of the recommended frame suppliers. If you're serious about buying glasses, you shouldn't miss out on this article.

Labeled "Seeing straight without breaking the bank" really describes the best thing about Zenni Optical - they offer quality merchandise at low prices. An appointment at the oculist, custom frames and lenses can add up to several hundreds of dollars. But you can have almost the same effect by simply buying a pair of inexpensive eyeglasses for those rare occasions you might need them, because let's face it - nobody wants to constantly wear glasses.

Take these glasses, for example. Today being 26th of February, the IPY is coming to an end. The major studies took two years, because of the need to cover both, the north and south poles. I recommend you read the press article at the IPY website and look around there in general if you're interested in the state of Earth's poles. But in short, it's pretty bad.

The global warming has taken it's toll from the arctic and antarctic regions. It has been reported that ice coverages have reached all-time lows in the recent years. The fresh water that enters the sea when ice melts will have an impact on wildlife and humans alike. Over the two years, 160 science projects have been performed using a total of 1.2 billion US dollars , assembled internationally. Here are the key discoveries:

The melting ice from both Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets is contributing greatly to sea level rise. In addition, the rate in which ice melts was found out to be higher that anyone expected and is still increasing.

The arctic sheet has also suffered. Ice, that is around the arctic circle all year-round, has apparently reached a minimum over the 30 year period of observation. There was also a lot more drifting ice than researchers had previously thought. Global warming has changed the vegetation in the arctic too.

With the melting of antarctic ice, and much more fresh water entering the Southern ocean, it's circulation could be affected, resulting in climate change.

It has been known that the frozen land of Siberia has much carbon-based material in it. If the temperatures rise, which they do, millions of cubic meter of methane will be released into the atmosphere, strengthening the effects of global warming.

The IPY studies have also uncovered interesting information about atmospheric issues. For instance, North Atlantic storms bring a lot of heat and moisture to the northern polar region.

Just under a 100 years ago, people have only reached the poles for the first time and now, we have to make sure they don't disappear off the map. Luckily there are large-scale projects like the IPY, which determine the problem, it's cause and most likely find a solution. But what i like most about this is cooperation. Each day we hear news about war, political unrest and various other forms of hostility and distrust. And now, when our planet is at stake, people put aside their differences and realize that we are all united by the piece of rock we're stuck on. And we have to protect it.

*Thanks to stock exchange for royalty-free pictures.

Where to find the best website hosts?

The cheapest and most reliable website hosting service provider list

Yes, you've heard it right. A carefully compiled list of only the best hand-picked web hosting providers. No longer will you have to search one by one in order to find that which best suits your needs. It's amazing that it has only been several decades since the internet was invented, let alone made approachable to the general public. And here, with the help of webhostingrating.com, you can quickly host your website for as little as 5 dollars per month, and make it accessible to millions of internet users worldwide.

If you're looking to establish your own website or blog, and need a host, I'd strongly recommend to consult with webhostrating. Take a look at their top 10 list and don't forget to read the reviews. It's also worth mentioning, that if you are looking for something particular, take a peek at the awards page, where hosts that are most advanced and satisfactory in a certain field are listed. And, of course, a list of other reliable providers that didn't make it to the top 10 is included.

So as you can see, finding a website host isn't as much of a hassle as it used to be, and having your own website these days is quite easy.

Our oceans are not soaking up as much CO2 as we'd like to.

The sea has always captured the imagination of all people. Neither has it shown mercy to the brave people that dared to traverse it and claimed many lives. Luckily, our oceans also claim a lot of carbon dioxide, helping keep the air we breathe fresh. Not as efficiently as we'd like, though.

<img styhttp://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=4403123634921275488#le="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:right;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GmeLmJBC6NI/SaLrFMus67I/AAAAAAAAAJE/yC0jdikVt1w/s200/1147417_96995036.jpg" border="0" alt="Thanks to stock exchange."id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306061785544846258" />

I assume we all know by now that too much carbon dioxide is hovering in our atmosphere, and the pollution levels continue to grow. But, man has to understand, that not everything is within his power. The various flora of our world soak up the carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. This process is know as photosynthesis. But did you know that most of the carbon dioxide is absorbed by oceans? Firstly, it is used by plankton for photosynthesis, and secondly, it simply dissolves in water as most gases should. Carbon dioxide molecules are heavier than water, so the gas slowly makes its way down to the depths. Add the dead fish and plankton to that, incredible pressure from the water above, and after millions of years of anaerobic decomposition, and you'll get oil!

The main point is that the deep seas are CO2-heavy. But thanks to the already undergoing climate changes, the winds above seas increase, thus causing considerable water mixture in the seas. That means that deep water comes up, bringing all the carbon dioxide with it. Although it will not exactly make it's way back to the atmosphere, the surface waters mix with the deep ones, thus the surface waters will have more carbon dioxide in them and less from the atmosphere can dissolve in them. This phenomenon actually decreased the absorbing capability of 0.5 Gigatonnes per year, to almost 10 times less, 0.05 Gt/y. (Research was conducted in the Southern ocean.)

The study has been conducted over a 10 year period, so the numbers really shouldn't lie. As you see, the ammount of carbon dioxide people produce is not as big as there is already circulating in nature, but that doesn't mean that we should cut down on emissions. After all, it may have been human pollution that caused the weather change. One event leads to another, so let's wait and see.

Telescope to scour the skies for earth-like planets.

The Kepler mission

Have you ever asked yourself whether there is life in the universe? You've most probably had. Or perhaps we are alone in the vastness of space? Well believe me, you're not the only one pondering about this. While we, simple citizens, are restricted to simply thinking, our researchers put millions of dollars into space research. One of the latest NASA's creations is the Kepler telescope.

Kepler's main mission is to identify planets that would seem to be habitable. Which means planets, that have a sign of water on them. And they should be of similar proximity to their star as Earth to Sun. These are the two main points, as the correct position may indicate a climate, also similar to Earth's. Which, in turn, could very well mean extraterrestrial life.

But Kepler will not be looking for life. Instead, the telescope will determine the frequency of Earth-like planets in space. Since no definite data can be collected at this distance, scientists will have to use simple logic in order to determine whether there is life elsewhere. If there are many Earth-like planets, the chances of life are higher, and the other way around.

And how exactly does the Kepler telescope work? As you know, the distances are far too great to actually see something particular. Well, the telescope is designed to notice changes of light, dimming, to be more exact. As the planets move around their star, they are bound to get between it and the telescope. Similarly to a solar eclipse. Even if we wouldn't know of the moon, when it would get in between and block all light, we would notice it. So when this eclipse happens in the observed solar system, Kepler will immediately notice it and determine the distance between the star and the planet.

However, the Kepler telescope will need to observe these planets for years to confirm their presence. The mission is set for 3.5 years. For more information and a launch date, visit the NASA Kepler homepage http://kepler.nasa.gov/. Space exploration continues!

See straight.

Salvino D'Amato gave us the possibility to fix our vision by wearing eyeglasses, Zenni Optical gives us a chance to get them for low prices.

Expensive glasses are a thing of the past, now, even prescription glasses don't cost that much. Just think about it. You don't have to worry about breaking your 200 dollar glasses anymore, because first, they won't cost two hundred dollars, and second, you can buy more, since they're cheaper. But the best thing is, they are also of high quality. And in our world, full of monitors, bright lights and other technologies, deteriorating eyesight is quite common. But now, you can send your relatives a whole box of glasses.

But it's not just about the price of the eyeglasses. Zenni Optical offers a wide assortment of all kinds of frames and lenses. They also offer some more complex glasses, like Photochromic ones.

But how does Zenni Optical keep the prices at such low levels? Let me refer you to a post, getting more in to detail here. But basically, it's really simple. They sell their glasses directly to you - the customer. That means without any middlemen and their fees. So if you need glasses, consider buying online, from Zenni Optical - they are a respectable company.

Competition in the space program.

Well, it seems that India has jumped into the bandwagon of space exploration. After all, India is a big country with a whole lot of inhabitants, and resources, so there's no surprise here. The Moon Impact Probe (MIP), landed on the moon last friday (November 15th, 2008) on the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru, who was the prime minister of India when the space program was initiated.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 218px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GmeLmJBC6NI/SSHG0lU_7JI/AAAAAAAAAIo/9wPq22P-XYI/s320/chandrayaan.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5269711645675875474" />

The MIP was launched from an Indian satellite, called Chandrayaan-1.Chandrayaan-1 left Earth on October 22nd. 2008. And a few days ago, it's load, the MIP, reached the Moon's surface. In addition, Chandrayaan-1 has a few more tools on board, like the Terrain Mapping Camera and Radiation Dose Monitor, which will be released towards the moon in a while.

So, with India becoming a space nation, more international cooperation can occur, hopefully bringing us further in to sapce.

Fire from the sky!

No, this is nothing biblical. It's about roof lights. You might never have seen one, if you live in the city center. They aren't popular amongst apartment houses, they're more of a private house thing. During sunny days, wouldn't you like to let some of the light in from outside? Well, you can't do that with a closed roof, you need Roof Lights! There are many types of them, and they serve many purposes. You can have round ones, oval ones, rectangular or triangular ones - all kinds! And you can look at them yourself at www.coxbp.com. And here are several functions, the roof lights they offer execute.

1) Light. The sun always shines above our heads, providing us with warmth and light. However, we do not always appreciate that, as we live under thick slabs of concrete and bricks. So why not get in touch with mother nature? Instead of burning the light bulb all day, get a roof light - the light will be much more pleasant and cheap! Free, actually! And it can't get any darker than the ceiling, which, let me remind you, lets in no light at all.

2) Warmth. As the roof light lets in sunlight, warmth also comes. Though you may not want it, I'd say it's acceptable at least. Roof lights are made from special glass, for this purpose. You wouldn't want cold coming in, would you? Come to think of it, I don't know whether roof lights are a good idea for a house in the northern parts. Sure, the glass is strong and waterproof, but tens of pounds of snow on it are bound to get the air pretty cold.

3) Visibility. Sure, this isn't much, but it sure is pleasant to see the blue skies from the comfort of your own home. And during rainy days, you could watch rain drops, falling on the glass. Or snow flakes, for that matter. And don't be afraid, the glass is surely strong enough to support the weight and pressure.

But what about some theoretical uses for roof lights? I assume you could make them into solar batteries, or rain water collectors - for that post-apocalyptic fan, that I'm sure you'd find inside yourself. So put some diversity in your home with roof lights!

Orange peel - saviour of the world?

Pollution is always in our heads. I don't mean to say that our heads are polluted, but we always think about the pollution of our environment. And if you don't - you're old-fashioned! Okay, I'm sorry - the real thing is much more serious than this. Pollutions of different ecosystems are way above the normal levels. But right now, I'd like to divert your attention to water. In a nutshell - water is important. It absorbs carbon dioxide, it houses many species of animals and plants, that are in one way or another important to us. Fish, for example, makes great food, while algae photosynthesize. However, various dyes make it harder and harder for sunlight to reach our plant friends. Every day, thousands of gallons of various dyes, used in our industry for things like printing paper, dyeing houses or cars or whatever that needs color, are dumped into the oceans. Scientist have been looking for ways to absorb these substances, without damaging the environment, that is, without chemicals. I find this ironic, you have to risk damaging the environment in order to save it. But luckily, natural materials can absorb the dyes quite well to. One of them being... an orange peel!!

Another point for nature! It seems that orange peel is quite capable of absorbing unwanted material from waste water. And it doesn't even require high temperatures. Sounds almost too good to be true, doesn't it? Theoretically, all is well, but putting it to practice might prove to be a problem. Just think about it, how will they amass the required amount of orange peels? Build separate containers for them? Glass, paper, orange peel.... Or a huge factory where everyone is peeling oranges. And where would the peeled oranges go then? To the market? Might work that way, but I can't think of anything else. Gathering them from the general public is impossible.

So, if you just happen to have an orange peel and are near some polluted water - you know what to do!

Recruitment Juice

If you have a business, chances are you do a lot of recruiting work. Sure, economies globally are weakening and more and more unemployed people are flocking the market, you'd think they would climb over each others heads to get that position. Sadly, that's not how it is... yet. And if you're serious about your business, you probably won't run around looking for people who might work for you. That's where recruiters come in! People, dedicated solely for finding you workers. There are several companies of recruiters, whom you may hire to do your work. But that's not what I'd like to tell you about right now. As the service receiver, you should be interested in how well the job can be done. People, who are not experienced at recruitment might not rise to the top. That's where recruitment training comes in. Now, it may seem simple - you answer a couple of calls, talk to a couple of people and have them sign up for the job, easy, right? Wrong! The human mind is complicated, and you may never know what the man on the other side of the cable is like. Over the time, recruiters have gathered experience on this sphere of work, that generally applies to all people. For example, part 3 in Recruitment Juice training modules. It's called Opening Calls With Impact. And boy, do you have to do that! What would you like more?
-Hello!
-H..hello..? Would ... what do you want?

Or this:
-Hel...
-GOOD DAY!! How are you? Wonderful day today, perfect for getting a job!! Right, sir?

Interaction and confidence make for a perfect conversation partner. And the whole Recruitment juice DVD series is full of useful tips like these.

I've just talked about part 2 of module 3. And the whole training session is 6 modules long! The guide is fun and serious at the same time, built by recruiters to recruiters. You can also look at the testimonials of their customers, which are several quite known companies. Put this guide into practice, and you've got a successful recruiter!

There goes natural selection!

A picture of the Earth

That's a fictional picture of Earth, and an another galaxy approaching very fast. Of course, for a galaxy to be seen at that distance, it would have to be either very small, or extremely big. But hey, that's science fiction. By the way, I've uploaded a 1280x1024 version online, and if you want, you can download it here. But, that aside, Earth is experiencing some difficulties.

50% of Earths species are facing a decline

One of the most important event in current science and ecology is extinction. During all the years of Earths existence, natural selection was the determinant factor of who lives and who doesn't. Now, all these years later, it seems that natural selection doesn't really play a part as big as before. The thing is that it takes much time for organisms to evolve and adapt, millions of years, in fact. They were managing nicely before humans arrived. The hunting and gathering primal humans didn't make a huge impact on nature, they were more like part of it themselves. It was not until the industrial ages, when humans separated from nature. You may disagree with me, but listen to this: CO2 is mostly produced by unnatural means (factories, cars), plastics are unnatural material and so on... Now, change the natural to man-made. It fits, huh? The way I see it, cars burn fuel, which is natural, it comes from the Earth. Everything comes from the Earth, so everything should be natural. But it's not. Another word, man-made, has risen. And now, man and nature are sort of competing. But the bad thing is, Earth can live without us, WE can't live without Earth. So we have to cope with it, to find a compromise. I have no idea on how to do that, except maybe to destroy half the worlds population, but that may be going too far. Besides, I'm sure mother nature is already planning how to do that.

Luckily, scientists are researching various populations of organisms, trying to find out what species are worth preserving. Incidentally, they found out that the species with the longest history are the most productive ones. I am talking about plants, of course. With the climate change, some species are failing to adapt so quickly and are becoming extinct. Less plants means less carbon dioxide is absorbed. That leaves less oxygen for us, and less food for herbivores. So, as you can see, a decline in the population of such a simple thing as grass, can directly affect even us, humans.

Our close friends, other mammals, are facing problems too. According to a recent survey by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a quarter of our beloved mammals, and that's 5,487 species, may soon be extinct. There are also 836 mammals that don't have enough information gathered about them to tell whether their numbers are declining or not. So take pictures - that may be the only way to show a panda to your grandchildren. Various factors such as fishing nets or pollution kill a thousand sea-mammals per day. Diseases also affect animals. 60% of Tasmanian devils were killed by a facial cancer, that is spread via physical contact.

What is that? A zebra? No, it's a subspecies of zebra, the Quagga. No wonder you've never seen one - they're extinct. And more than 44 thousand species of animals and plants will be too, if nothing is done about it.

But nature always found a way to come back at us. Hurricanes, earthquakes, droughts and floods alike - all have been plaguing humanity for ages. Organisms are also equipped with one powerful tool - mutation. A mutation can occur anytime. Natural evolution takes hundreds of generations, while mutation can only need one. And I think that in our wireless, ray-filled world, these mutations can occur more frequently. But we don't see fish tearing nets apart, or mammals living off thin air at -50 degrees... yet.

Old or young - everyone may need glasses.

As you may know, it is natural for older people's eyesight to weaken with time. Sadly, nowadays even young children may have weak sight. This may be caused by natural causes, like genetic diseases, or unnatural ones, for example staring too much at a TV screen at close range. But luckily, humans figured out how to "fix" their sight - wearing glasses. The first eyeglasses were invented way back in 1284, by an Italian Salvino D'Armate. They were a luxury back then, but they aren't now. You can even buy glasses online!

One particular company I'd like to mention is Zenni Optical. They sell prescription glasses online starting from only 8 dollars! You can clearly see the advantage of buying online here. If you were to buy glasses from a store, which acts as a middleman, as it bought the glasses from the manufacturer, you would not only pay the manufacturing price, but also the mark-up added by the reseller. But when purchasing online, you don't have to pay any middleman! Now, so that this post wouldn't be just a wall of text, here's a picture of a pair of their glasses, at a cost of 27.95$:
Pretty neat, huh? . Now, you're probably asking yourself "why would it be my best choice to buy from Zenni Optical?". I've got several answers for you. Firstly, they were recommended on Fox News and secondly, a popular radio show host, Clark Howard, recommended Zenni Optical on his radio show "The Clark Howard Show". And there is even website proof here

The company is legitimate, the client reviews are good, so I guess that makes Zenni Optical one of the top eyeglass providers online. And if you need some glasses, but want to buy them from the comfort of your own home, look them up!

Shift Happens

I was reading through blogs today, and one particular thing caught my attention. I found it on Nimbleit Squarespace and liked it. In fact, I liked it so much that I think it's more than worthy of being shared with you, my readers. So, without further ado, here it is:

Shift Happens
View SlideShare presentation or Upload your own. (tags: sociology future)

Boy does shift happen, eh? I mean, China and India have been noted as rising countries for some time, but the general interest went towards the USA. And like in a cheap Hollywood movie, a little critter has been growing down in the darkest corner. And now that the world noticed it, it's too late to stop it. I'm not saying that China should be stopped, by no means. But it's rapidly rising to the top spots. Wouldn't it be ironical if China surpassed the USA or Great Britain with English-speaking people? Anyway, this slideshow sure raised a lot of questions for me, I hope it had the same effect to you. Oh and, if you want to comment or give the author credit, here's where the slideshow is located
