This is Big Toe Buddha after Losing 80 lbs

This is Part 2. Here is Part 1

In a prior article. I examined the connection between human operating system errors and obesity. Here in Part 2, I will expand upon the concept of consciously Reprogramming the Human Operating System to improve health and fitness. Early on I recognized the importance of rewards in behavior modification as a form of operant conditioning.

When I began this part of my journey, it seemed reasonable that if I wanted to lose my fat stomach, I should focus on exercises that would impact the abdominal region. Exercises with stick twists (along with crunches and leg lifts) seemed like an obvious methodology. After a only a few days, I noticed that there was something sort of magical about the way using the stick made me feel. It straightens your back and really strains the abdominal muscles that are buried under layers of fat. In fact, I became so interested in exercise sticks that I started making a limited number of special sticks for my friends. You can check them out in our Spirit/Body Sculpting Stick Store.

The New-Humans Fitness Program is an extreme diet and exercise program that has done wonders for me, but is definitely not for everyone. Consult your physician or trainer before trying any "lose weight fast!" program.

A Life or Death Matter

There are two alternative motivations to adopt an overnight, permanent lifestyle change:

1. The first is an unexpected visit to the hospital emergency room due to serious, sudden illness or injury. This type of wake up call will certainly get your attention, at least it did mine! Learning that I was diabetic with toes in need of amputation certainly was the single-most significant catalyst in my life.

2. Or if you choose door number two; you can read the accounts written by me and other survivors, and if you are brave enough, try imagining that it's you that is going through the same trauma. Throw in some poignant moments, like lying in a hospital bed late at night watching your hear beat in real time on an ultrasound monitor, and you get the picture. Now that I have lost 80 pounds and completely cured my diabetes, I am sharing my experience with others. ("I Am Health"). And if my writing is good enough and your imagination is vivid enough, then maybe--just maybe--you will avoid experiencing your own crisis by consciously engaging in the concept of Reprogramming Your Operating System.

As soon as you recover from the medical crisis--or if you decide to reign in your imagination and say, "It will never happen to me," will you go back to beer, pizza, sodas and burgers? Or will you see behind the scenes of the corporate fast-food-alcohol-induced fantasy land where slim boys and girls chug big cans of Aussie beer and hot-chick models recommend a classy drink like Russian vodka, and you say to yourself "Never Again! I AM A NEW-HUMAN.COM."

The Zen of Sacrifice & Rewards

Generating "Reward Credits" offer the ticket to a New-Human life for any person no longer content with sitting around, procrastinating, and wishing....and doing nothing about getting fit. The premise is that by exerting more effort and making the proper decisions today (Reward Debits), you will enjoy the benefits tomorrow (Reward Debits).

But...and this is the key, you can also enjoy the Credits today even though they won't clear he bank until tomorrow.

" Nearly 65 percent of dieters return to their pre-dieting weight within three years, according to Gary Foster, Ph.D., clinical director of the Weight and Eating Disorders Program at the University of Pennsylvania." (Source)

Why? Because they didn't get enough Rewards to offset the Debit cost of the 'hard' decisions they needed to make about exercise and diet. The New-Humans Fitness Program is different is because it offers immediate Rewards--both spiritual and physical that keep you engaged and eager to participate. Here I will show you how a little discomfort, pain and denial can be converted from a negative into a positive experience.

Start Redeeming your Rewards Credits Now!

Keep reading to find out how

The Zen of Reprogramming Your Operating System

Reprogramming the Human Operating System is based upon a circular cause/effect viewpoint of time, i.e., what decisions we make and actions we take today not only affect tomorrow, but the future actually has a feedback effect upon us today.

The extra effort or hard decision about diet or exercise made this afternoon is a Reward Debit which is offset by a Reward Credit which will be redeemed tomorrow. But there is more, because the satisfaction of making that Reward Debit is also experienced today.

What you may not expect though is that the very activities you may think of as Debits today, will likely become less and less of a negative until they turn into a positive. For example, eating fruit daily may seem like a bit of a chore, but in time you will look forward to and savor every bite and wonder how you could have lived so long ignoring these self-contained morsels that come conveniently packed with nutrients, energy, vitamins and fiber. In the beginning, passing up a Big Mac and fries for an apple at lunch may seem to be a significant Debit, but as you experience the positive results of our strenuous exercise and diet program, you will very much look forward to that delicious apple at lunch time and doing the first stick twists in the morning.

Your Nearest Rewards Credit Redemption Center

....is located in the information processing system located between your ears. If your operating system has bugs, or is infected with the corporate food-alcohol virus, you will need to become the diligent reprogrammer of your own mind; delete the bugs and worms and perform an upgrade with your own set of health-promoting algorithms. No restart needed.

Redeeming a Reward Credit today for something that you will experience tomorrow is a way of Reprogramming your Operating System to feel pleasure in spite of any discomfort from today's workout or run. This applies to all of the New-Humans Fitness Program's exercise and diet recommendations..

Here is an example. Your task is to discover and modify your algorithm for hunger. Your biological program for satiation most likely is based upon stretch receptors in your stomach. Once they start firing signals back to your processor, you feel full. You likely also link the sensation of felling full with pleasure. However, fat deposition is caused by an excess of caloric intake, so if you fill your stomach to capacity, you may be exceeding your expenditure of calories and will get fat. Some carbonated drinks, like beer and soda additionally stretch your stomach to its capacity limit with CO2 gas. so a regular diet of beer and pizza will continue to stretch your stomach and receptors, with the results that you have to eat more and more to feel full. Your program is out of whack due to an error in the satiation algorithm's feedback loop.

The programming modification is straight forward. You only need to associate the Reward Debit of passing up a burger and fries with the feeling of gratitude and fulfillment that you will experience tomorrow. This Reward Credit will offset any temporary negative feelings, thoughts or experiences related to staying on your diet or exercise program (Reward Debit). For instance, some may find the strenuous New-Humans daily spinach diet boring and uninteresting. With reprogramming, it becomes a great source of dining pleasure which you will look forward to every evening. The same applies to daily exercise with the advantage that

dopamine levels are increased by exercise which is extremely pleasurable and

your spirit will have an opportunity to enjoy an opportunity to drop out into a creative space where you can engage in creative thinking accompanied by the rhythm of your mantra in sync with your breath cycle. In essence you will learn to connect to your spirit through your body

All you need to do is to make a few changes in your operating system program's satiation algorithm. For example, 'feeling full" equals "overeating." therefore as Big Toe Buddha says, "It is best to always be a little hungry."

The idea is to shine a light on the framework of your subconscious, bring it to the surface and modify it so that you can enjoy life to the fullest. It is better to give than receive, so give yourself a gift—save some fruit from dinner for tomorrow’s breakfast!

The Next Step: Guaranteed Rewards

As you reach another step towards enlightenment and if you should go ahead and eat all of the cereal and leave none for the next day, you will still have the reward of having enjoyed them at least once and that is a positive thought. This thinking is part of becoming enlightened, It demonstrates that it is entirely possible to Reprogram the Human Operating system and change negative algorithms into positive energy Instead of complaining about no cereal today, you will feel happy that you enjoyed it yesterday and you are complete. (added 12/03/12).

Stay Tuned...

The New-Humans Fitness Program incorporates high repetition/moderate weight workouts (for example bench pressing 70-75 lbs, fifteen times per set). You may be surprised about how effective a moderate to light weight, high-rep 90-minute program can be. Note that the New-Humans Fitness Program is an extreme diet and exercise program that has done wonders for me, but is definitely not for everyone. Consult your physician or trainer before trying any "lose weight fast!" program.

Here is an analysis of one of the three rotating exercise programs that I joyfully execute on a daily basis.

I was amazed to realize that in this single (one of three alternating) daily routines, I bench press over 13,200 pounds in a period of 80-90 minutes! This doesn't even include the energy expended for alternating the bench presses sets with sets of leg lifts, crunches, push ups and pull ups. This workout alone will total up to nearly 2 million pounds per year--and this is less than half of the workout routine.

Do I sweat a lot?
You bet!

Do I ever miss a workout?
Very seldom. At the most, I missed five workouts in the last year due to a camping trip.

Do I ever NOT want to workout?
No. Never! I have been on this daily program for over 19 months. Every night I look forward to my morning workout routine. As soon as my eyes open, I am excited to get up and get started. This is also a interruption-free time when I find inspiration for my projects and essays. It is a magnificent way to start the day. Make sure to have a notebook and pen handy to jot down new ideas.

Obesity = Operating System Error!

It wasn't always this way. When I belonged to gyms in San Diego and Honolulu, I shined-on many days when I "should" have been working out, but "didn't want to," or "didn't feel like it."

I was also easily tempted by good old American certified pepperoni pizza and the beer that made 'Bud wiser'. After all, if Big Time Athletes and hot rod NASCAR drivers could stuff their face and chug big mugs of beer on TV commercials, they must be OK right?

Not any more. I am not the least bit tempted to chow down junk food and I don't do it! Actually, I turn away from those TV commercials during the games and races. Not to avoid temptation, but the greasy burgers and chicken parts are completely unappetizing and sort of 'gruesome' to watch. But most importantly, I directly associate fried food and beer with becoming an obese diabetic and that is a very powerful negative stimulus. But from a student of marketing's point of view, it is fascinating what fantastic motivational gimmicks corporations will invent and ram down our throats, just to get our a slice of our paychecks. Forget the fact the obesity and diabetes are killing our friends and family. See my essays "Marketing is the Meaning of Life," "The Brainwashing of Society" and "Playing Chicken."

How I Regained Control of My Operating System Program

So what has changed? How did I take control of my program and fix the errors? I have undergone what to me personally is a wondrous metamorphosis--not only in my body but my spiritual being. I have essentially re-programmed my operating system.

This transformation wasn't planned (at least not be me) and only now can I see how my new attitude about my physical body and mind/spirit took place. Many of my methods are extreme, but keep in mind that I started at 245 lbs and am now down to 170, so extreme methods are being rewarded with extremely favorable results. Although I am sharing this with you here, please do what you think is right for yourself and well being. You should consults your physician before undertaking any of the diet, exercise, or motivational ideas presented on the New-Humans.com website.

This essay describes the realms that I am currently exploring Note that this is an ongoing learning experience--there always seems to be some new aspect of the spirit/body program to decode, update and upgrade.

The Zen of Rewards: Immediate Vs. Deferred Compensation

The New-Human Fitness Plan is based on stick twist exercises because I have found them to be incredibly effective way of sculpting away mid-section fat. Many fitness experts maintain that target-site-specific-body sculpting is not possible. In my essay, "Fast Twitch Fibers and Body Sculpting--are fitness enthusiasts missing out?". I argue that it is at least possible for the mid-section using stick twist exercises.

It straightens your back and really strains the abdominals that are buried under layers of fat. In fact, I became so interested in exercise sticks that I started making a limited number of special sticks for my friends. You can check them out in our
Spirit/Body Sculpting Stick Store. There are several essays and videos about stick exercises in the New-Humans Metamorphosis Club—no membership required. (link)

The point here is that I started feeling the results of the stick exercises after only a couple of days of workouts and that reinforcement encouraged me to carry on. It is a basic example of operant conditioning in which the effort of a task (in this case stick twisting) is matched by a reward (a slimmer waistline).

Another operant conditioning effect is the release of dopamine. “There is considerable evidence that dopamine participates in both reinforcement and aversive learning.” (Source) and that "Dopamine plays a major role in the brain system that is responsible for reward-driven learning. Every type of reward that has been studied increases the level of dopamine transmission in the brain..." (Source) After over a year and a half of daily workouts, my muscles seem to look forward to exercise, By being consistent, my circulatory and storage systems for the components that will fuel the workout are ready, on schedule and dependable. Doing the first and the last repetition of stick twists and weight lifting is extremely pleasurable. There is no pain, only a rush of good sensations. It is this feedback along with achieving measurable improvements every day, that make each workout a centerpiece of my life.

After I complete my workout, my day is a success—no matter what happens afterwards. I refer of this uplifting physical and mental state as the 'Zen of Rewards'. Even if life's demands are way out of sync and you have burdensome problems to solve, your workout and diet regimen will put you in a healthy, creative frame of mind to solve those very problems and worries.

Change your program mindset so that you go for a run or walk every day and workout in the gym because it feels good, not because you feel that you have to or will feel guilty if you don't. That is the big difference. The results you achieve provide will positive reinforcement. Feeling thin again is a wonderful experience.

The Zen of Repetition and Meditation: Workout Mantras

All of the exercises in the New-Humans Fitness Program are based upon low to moderate levels of exertion and high numbers of repetitions. Every exertion is matched by an intake of breath, every relaxation by an exhalation of breath. High reps keep your heart rate up and provide wholesome, aerobic training. But just as important, they offer an avenue to connect with and exercise your spirit. Workout mantras take your mind off your worries, stop the world and let your spirit breathe. Walking or jogging or stick twists can be superb forms of meditation as you consistently time as you sync your mantra with your exertion. Here is one of my favorites that I do daily when I jog at SeaCliff Beach in Aptos, CA.

The movement is smooth and continuous and the number of steps taken between exhales and inhales increases as you progress from walking to sprinting. The point is that you sync your mantra to your left or right foot and stay consistent. Exhales should be sharp and vigorous, while inhales are slow and relaxed allowing the lungs to expand naturally as much as possible, except when air must be sucked in during anaerobic sprints.

Action Mantra Breath

Left Step "Warm" Sharply Exhale
Right Step Silence Slowly Inhale

Left Step "Sun" Sharply Exhale
Right Step Silence Slowly Inhale

Left Step "Cool" Sharply Exhale
Right Step Silence Slowly Inhale

Left Step "Breeze" Sharply Exhale
Right Step Silence Slowly Inhale

...and start over

Soon you will find yourself sailing along in the warm sun and feeling the cool breeze on your face. New insights and ideas will form spontaneously. I carry a pen and slip of paper to write down the exceptionally inspirational thoughts.

The Zen of Control: Always Be a Little Hungry

How we become overweight is ultra simple, if you eat more calories than your burn, your operating system brain/CPU executes an algorithm that directs myriad chemical reactions that convert, transport and store excess food in lipid cells...and we put on the pounds. Our fat storage system is an evolutionary adaptation that allows us to survive periods when food is scarce. But those of us that are fortunate enough to have refrigeration and the ability to store our perishables no longer need to employ the same strategy as hibernating bears. Fat is remarkably heavy. After you have lost forty pounds, put a couple of 20 lb dumb bells in a back pack and tote it around for a day. That's the extra burden you used to carry 24/7. Lose a big chunk of fat and you will feel light as a feather.

Diet is the counterpoint to exercise. Diet involves not just selecting food items, but becoming conscious of their caloric content and matching calorie inputs vs. expenditures. You may have tried binge diets in the past but lost momentum and gave up and went back to stuffing your self or drinking six packs of beer. Like many people who have suffered with weight problems, I have gone on and off diet/exercise programs because they were either "too hard" or "no fun" and I eventually caved in to temptation. I have now been on the New-Humans Fitness Program for two years and I am absolutely convinced that I will stick with it through the Singularity when technological advances enable dramatic increases in human longevity.(link). How does the New-Humans Fitness Program differ from others that claim a miracle cure for obesity? The short answer is that it reprograms your operating system.

Caloric reduction has been associated with improved health and increased longevity in many organisms ranging from yeast to dogs and may apply to humans as well. Here I will share some tips on how I learned to say NO to stuffing myself. This is a key component of the behavior modification strategy that I am proposing, so please bear with me as I describe this mundane example. In the evening, I always have a bowl of organic granola cereal about an hour after my spinach salad. This cereal is healthy and delicious, especially with a fruit of the day, like slices of fresh plum, apple, banana, blueberries and raisins. You can buy this and other great cereals from Puritan's Pride (click image).

From Puritan's Website. "Organic Premium Banana Walnut Granola-12 oz-Bag Wait until you taste this Explosive banana and vanilla flavor combination-perfect to wake up to as well as a compelling accompaniment for many deserts. Whole rolled oats, sugar, expeller-pressed canola oil, walnuts, honey, rice syrup, banana chips with coconut oil, sugar and banana flavor, oat bran, rice crisp with sugar, salt and barley malt, coconut, banana and vanilla flavors. Sold In a convenient resealable granola pouch Whole rolled oats, sugar, expeller-pressed canola oil, walnuts, honey, rice syrup, banana chips with coconut oil, sugar and banana flavor, oat bran, rice crisp with sugar, salt and barley malt, coconut, banana and vanilla flavors."

It is extremely tasty and very healthy with vitamins, fiber and bulk for smooth digestive flow.. So tasty, that I feel a temptation to not only finish off the bowl a MOMENTARY urge to not only finish it off, but to go for a refill. Alas I do not because II have reprogrammed my algorithm for satiation to the effect that I consciously slow down my intake and savor each spoonful. When I have finished about 80% of the bowl, I stop eating and leave the rest for my morning breakfast. The urge to eat more is gone only seconds after I stash the bowl for tomorrow. I feel superb that I have managed my satiation program and that I have 'done the right thing'. Another example is during the morning I leave halves of apples, oranges or bananas for later in the day. I call this reprogramming "deferred compensation."

It is as if in the morning you can thank yourself for something done in the past, but feel the reward for doing so in the present. So you get a double bonus. First, you are pleased that you gave yourself a gift and second you are pleased that you didn't over-eat. Don't wait for the stretch receptors in the walls of your stomach to tell you that you are stuffed. Always stay a little hungry and reprogram your operating system to live in harmony with your physical body. I no longer have cravings for pizza and beer; no desire for anything but fruit, nuts and spinach salads, plus a daily protein milkshake made with prune and blueberry juice instead of milk, Available here direct from Amazon at a great price!

It's not like you can get fat just by touching or looking at food. You have to plan ahead to purchase and prepare it, then manually pick it up, put it in your mouth, chew and swallow. There are a lot of steps that have become automatic—so why consume food that is unhealthy and makes you fat? Think of sunny days at the farm when eating spinach, feel the breeze on the leaves, listen to the workers singing folk songs. Enjoy every bite. Be patient, eat right and exercise every day. Just get started. Try the stick twist exercises using my handmade New-Humans Exercise Stick.
My good friend and fishing buddy, Jack Hemingway, once shared with me advice he had received from his father, Ernest. The gist was that once a writer feels in control of his story and starts to see the plot unfold, its time to quit for the day.

I apply the same philosophy to my diet program. In the evenings I usually have a bowl of natural cereal with fruit of the moment. Just when I reach the ¾ mark and have experienced the first urges to go for a refill, I stop and leave the rest for breakfast.

In spite of missing the short term gratification, I am proud of myself for restraining the urge to stuff myself I like to always feel a little hungry...plus in the morning, I am thankful for the gift. I think that Ernest and Jack would approve.

Visit the New-Humans Metamorphosis Club for my exercise and diet recommendations.

The Spirit/Body Sculpting Stick is the cornerstone of my daily workout—yes I do stick twists 7 days a week and love every moment of my workout! I have combined daily stick twists, ab routines, and weight lifting to cut away 80 pounds of fat and feel great. In my article “Fast Twitch Fibers...", I examine how stick twists exercises work to trim belly fat and examine some of the reasons why stick twist methods may be so effective.

There are many exercise routines possible and I encourage you to experiment and make up your own.

The three primary ones that I use daily are demonstrated in this video.

Standing Vertical Twist

Seated Vertical Twist

Seated Horizontal Twist

[Note that I don’t personally do Standing Horizontal Twists because it feels uncomfortable to my lumbar vertebrae. But seated, I can easily pump away with no strain whatsoever.]

Big Toe Buddha’s Regimen

Each super set consists of fast-paced exercises with no rest breaks. This keeps the heart and breathing rates continuously elevated.

I recommend pointing your toes inward on both seated and standing stick twists and allow your heel to natural lift with each swing--sort of like running in place. Pull the stick down to your shoulder blades and continuously tense your abdominals.

A. Stick Twists--Abs

50 standing vertical cycles
100 seated cycles
50 standing cycles
50 sit ups, crunches and leg lifts

B. Weight Training (alternating daily routines for chest/abs, arms/abs and legs/abs)
60 reps

C. Stick Twists--Abs
50 standing vertical cycles
100 seated cycles
50 standing cycles
50 sit ups, crunches and leg lifts

Each superset (A through C) is repeated three times over a period of approximately 90 minutes with no rest longer than it takes to change equipment or positions. I also question the practice of rest intervals between workouts, instead I do the above routine, followed by Yoga--plus a 60 minute brisk run/walk seven days a week with fabulous results. The portable feature of my stick allows daily workouts anywhere. My “extreme” approach to sequencing and interval training and diet will be the subject of future essays.

Stick Twist Exercises Burn Fat Fast

You won’t believe how wonderful life can be when you don’t have to carry around two, 40 pound dumbbells everywhere you go. Walking is nearly effortless and you will get to wear all of your favorite clothes again!

The trick is to get started, get some results, then keep at it until you’ve taken control of your body. Diet is also a major factor. During the day, I feast on a variety of fruit and nuts, but every evening without fail, I eat a spinach, avocado, cucumber and tomato salad. I will devote future posts to the biology of fat and the connection of obesity to diabetes. Here is a good article on the benefits of eating spinach.

Spinach Is One of the Most Nutritious Foods Available

Low in calories and high in vitamins, spinach is one of the most nutrient-dense foods in existence. One cup of the leafy green vegetable contains far more than your daily requirements of vitamin K and vitamin A, almost all the manganese and folate your body needs and nearly 40 percent of your magnesium requirement. It is a good, very good or excellent source of more than 20 different measurable nutrients, including dietary fiber, calcium and protein. And yet, 1 cup has only 40 calories! Spinach is an excellent choice for nutrition without high calories. Read more.

In these two images of yours truly taken 2 years a part you can see that I have indeed metamorphosed from a fat caterpillar into a spider with muscles. I consider this to be the first step in my journey to becoming a New-Human. In addition to the miracle of losing 75 pounds of fat, I have begun to learn how to reprogram my CPU brain and see many things much differently than during my fat cat stage.

Like many others, my writing about personal events may also be a part of my healing journey. But I hope that some of you may avoid needless problems, many of which are, at least in part, due to corporate greed and meme manipulation.

On this journey, I will be seeking information about health and diet that is accurate and not spun by slick marketing mavens. Please feel free to join in my journey with comments, ideas, and suggestions. First...

...do any of these sound familiar?

“I know I should start getting in shape. I promise to start tomorrow.”

“I am so busy, I just have to eat whatever is fast and convenient.”

“I’ll skip today and go to the gym tomorrow. One more day can’t make any difference.”

“I do plan to quit drinking...”

...What If?

You could get up every morning and do exactly what your body needs and wants--not what your job or family or bank account needs or wants?

Sounds good until you think about it. Because you might already sense pangs of guilt that you are being selfish or insensitive because you put your health and dreams first, but if you are seriously overweight and/or have diabetes, your attitude may need some adjustment. In fact by taking care of yourself first, you will be doing your family, friends and job a favor by taking on a more self-centered, self-absorbed, self-concerned viewpoint on life and how precious and beautiful it is.

I was lucky when I hit the wall because I had a good friend and top flight medical gurus who put me back together physically, but it was I that took care of the mental and spiritual heavy lifting. Here I will share my findings to develop what I call the New-Humans Fitness Program. No matter how wealthy and powerful you are, you can’t buy a lean body (at least not yet), only sweat and self-determination lead the way--sweat through exercise and self-determination through diet and meditation.

Disclaimer: I am not a medical doctor nor do I practice medicine. Please consult your physician or a fitness expert before beginning any diet or exercise program. I am however, a biologist and my goal is to interpret into everyday common sense language and logical thinking, the overwhelming glut of information and self-help online resources on obesity and diabetes. I will retrace the same conceptual road map that I used to educate myself in order to make important decisions that literally changed my life. Please consult other web sources as well in case any of the publications I cite might have inaccurate Information. I welcome comments—especially if I have overlooked important medical or health advances.

In some cases, I will provide my own personal regimen—be warned in advance that my approach is very extreme and I am not recommending or suggesting that it may be suitable for anyone else. I think of it as part of my sharing my healing experience with others who may find a path that avoids DB and obesity all together, or help to fully recover as I did.

The New-Humans Fitness Program consists of four components:

1. space MY-SPACE!
2. time MY-TIME!
3. exercise/meditation MY-FLOW!
4. diet/meditation MY-DIET!

MY-FLOW! and MY-DIET! will be the subjects of many posts to come. In this essay, I will examine the two foundations of the New-Humans Fitness Program, space and time.

The first step is to establish MY-SPACE! for healing.

...MY-SPACE!

This should be a small, quiet, disturbance-free room or office which has been custom personalized by you. Here, I will share with you my first design for a hybrid office/gym that may give you some ideas to build your own space. We New-Humans are adaptable and creative, so it may take you some time and effort, but you will be able to set up your space at work or at home. And going to a gym is great if you really do go...that is.

But some of the gym rats may wonder about what’s up with all the stick twists you will be doing with your

(The Spirt/Body Sculpting Stick is available in the New-Humans Metamorphosis Club along with the Leg Mother Bench that Warms the Legs and the Heart):

But by far, the best manifestation of the New-Humans Fitness Program is when your office is both office and gym There are plenty of neat ways of stowing and arranging equipment so that the office fits into the gym and the gym fits into the office.

The advantage is privacy and solitude. Yes you could take an important business call if you had to, but just tell them you will call back in an hour. Having all of your handpicked equipment around you while you work is comforting and inspirational. I am lucky to work from home, so within a half our of getting up, I am working out. Every day...more about routine when we get to the exercise/mediation component.

All other intrusions should be eliminated. I have made a poster for you to stick on your door.

In other posts, The Brainwashing of Society and Playing Chicken, I assert that “strict, very determined, people are calling the shots on how most of us think and what we eat and drink. They are defining who we are. They have most of us brainwashed.”

So maybe that explains why our minds don’t always act like they are close partners with our bodies. Blame it on brainwashing that a sugar-sweet, fizzy beverage naturally seems to be the perfect companion for a juicy, greasy steer burger with steak fries--judging by the couples smiling faces as they wolf down and slurp while being taped by a pair of top-of-the-line HD cameras for a highly crafted, highly edited, highly conceived and very costly to produce and air video commercial carefully designed to urge you to get in your car and get one.

No mention whatsoever that in excess quantity, those soft drinks and sandwiches contain more caloric compounds and structural components than the body needs to reserve for future emergencies. It’s pretty basic. If there is insufficient calorie burning to match calorie intake, then we put on weight and we will have to let our belt out another inch...again...and Again...AND AGAIN!

In a future essay, I will explore the cellular aspects of obesity and diabetes and how ‘fattening foods” actually interfere with the exchange of biological information and alter the cell’s essential input/output systems.

If this seems extreme, good. Your life literally depends upon making serious changes....maybe not so extreme as mine, but the amazing thing about our bodies is that they are very willing and very able to make changes for the better. Why is it that our mind often overrides these instinctual healing programs? In my essay, Marketing is the Meaning of Life™, I noted that “knowledge is power and information is money, but marketing is the meaning of life because without advertising there would be no sex and without sex, no life—at least for us sapients.” And a great many of our bad habits, poor diet, lack of exercise are directly related to corporate marketing campaigns that put shareholder profit ahead of human sense and well-being.

We have great protein supplements available through Amazon.com in the New-Humans Metamorphosis Club.

...the Spirit part

The New-Humans Fitness Program exercises that I recommend are very simple and fun to do. They are all based upon breathing techniques and counting exercise repetitions is standard. In a quiet disturbance free environment, counting and breathing transport you into an altered state where new ideas spring into your mind like wild flowers blooming in time lapse. I keep my writer's notebook open and ready to make barely legible notes while I work out. This is a time to concentrate on the muscle dynamics of your body while letting your mind free to explore new thoughts and new channels of awareness.

Here are some images of my New-Humans hybrid office/gym/meditation chamber.
During Gym Phase
Weight exercises add muscle. The Spirt/Body Stick burns fat.

...a Healing Time

There are obviously many permutations that may impact the space/time decision. For example, some spaces may only be available at certain times and vise versus. Ideally, you will be able to pick both your MY-TIME! and your MY-SPACE! like I did. I start every day with a 75 minute gym workout followed by 20 minutes of yoga. Since I am self-employed and work alone, it is easy for me. But I have chosen to live this way to live this way. I like to start my day in my gym because I feel in my heart that after I finish my workout and meditation that no matter what happens later, my day is already a success! I worked out. Yeah! And I enjoyed every moment of it!

Why schedule interruptions may be detrimental. Note this is conjecture, but it seems logical that regularity and consistency should streamline metabolic pathways in that cells and tissues are able to prepare in advance to receive and exchange oxygen and nutrients and combust carbs for calories on a regular schedule. If our metabolic tank levels oscillate smoothly and with the intrinsic regularity of a circadian rhythm, then are fewer gridlocks at circulatory and cell membrane bottle necks.

Although, I workout and walk roughly the same amount of time every day, I alternate muscle groups daily thus giving some support for the idea of rest and recuperation. But when Danica Patrick, NASCAR driver, said in a too personal interview that she planned to take two weeks off from her workouts then I guessed that she was going to face the same mind game as all the rest of us on why this is a good idea and when will we actually go back to the gym.

All this rest time to me is dead wrong if it leads to turning into a couch potato, pizza inhaling, beer drinker. I would rather work out every day and vary the muscle groups and not have to endure the mental torture of deciding, rationalizing, and guilt tripping about whether I workout as the excuses pour in and the weight pours on.. I just do. Everyday. And love it!

It is very important to set up and take advantage of your MY-TIME! Call it a gift which you deserve and will defend, not only for yourself, but your family, friends and job. My best creativity takes place in the morning when I am in MY TIME!

Lots more to come.

LONGevitation is of no interest if long life brings prolonged pain, incoherence or incapacitation.

So if you and I want to markedly increase our life span, it is obvious that we need to take better care of our incredible biological information systems.

It is possible, and likely, that at some stage in human evolution, our bodies may be partial or complete artificial constructs. New-Humans may eventually even metamorphosize into digital beings with nearly infinite longevity, but to get there we have to not only survive but prosper health-wise. As Spock says, “Live Long and Prosper.”

Disclaimer, although my title is Dr. I am a biologist, not an MD. The journey that I describe and the extreme measures that I take on a daily basis, could turn your life around too, or not. Therefore, I urge you to consult a qualified physician before undertaking any of the mental and physical programs which I describe. Seriously! You have been warned.

Everything about the human body, its evolution, its physiology, and its longevity has a basis in information. Whether we and the matter of our universe consist of information or whether matter and ourselves may only be described by information is a topic of debate among cosmologists and cosmogonists. Suffice to say, when things go right, the information is flowing from our DNA to our brains, muscles, and bones in a proper fashion. Errors or blockages in the flow of our bio-information causes both mental and physical disturbances. Think of disease as an error message on our CPU. If the program is corrupted, as mine was, then any number of serious manifestations may develop.

The good news for me is that I am beginning to be able to rewrite my program. So far the results have exceeded my wildest expectations. Not one of the extreme exercise and diet measures that I do daily are troublesome or unappealing to me. In fact, I look forward to every positive, productive procedure that I follow beginning as soon as I arise in the morning. I feel no sacrifice. I feel no loss. I feel wonderful!

Overcoming Excuses and Rationalizations

If a person doesn’t want to do something, then it is likely that they will find a ready excuse—some sort of rationalization—that relieves the mental stress of not doing what they know to be the right thing to do (like assigning exercise and diet to Number One Priority).

Do any of these sound familiar? I well know all of these excuses.

I don’t have time to go to the gym today. I’ll go tomorrow.

I don’t have time to walk, I have a job and have to go to work.

My shoulders hurt. I can’t workout.

I am too tired to go the gym or on a walk.

I know that fast food is bad for me, but I don’t have time to go home or to a healthy (expensive) establishment

I love beer and am into sports. Every televised game I see coaches and players pitching beer. I have been told that beer is actually a food. How can it be bad for me?

There are so many smart, fancy people drinking wine with lunch and dinner. It must be OK.

I now know that alcohol is bad for me, I just need to get through this ____________(day, project, disaster, month, year) then I will quit drinking

I promise that when I go to my neighborhood bar tonight, I am only going to have one drink!

The Bottom Line

Alcohol consumption in any form and in any amount will kill you--or turn you into a brain dead zombie. It is a dangerous chemical that is a waste product of single celled yeast organisms. Even the yeast die under prolonged exposure to alcohol! Why in the Hell would we want to consume waste products anyway?

Consumption of alcohol also affects our judgment, facilitating all sorts of negative behavior. Our biological information systems are thrown a monkey wrench.

Eating processed foods will make us obese and will kill us. Saturated fatty acids and trans fats interfere with the openings in the cell membrane through which insulin transports glucose into the cell. Without glucose, cell mitochondria are unable to function and glucose builds up in the blood stream causing diabetes.

Eating animal tissue soaked with hormones will shorten our lives and is not needed in spite of what the Kentucky colonel says about the quality of the meals it sells made of dead birds.

Not exercising STRENUOUSLY EVERY DAY will make us obese and kill us.

STOP CONSUMING ALCOHOL. If we buy the immense corporate marketing pitch that red wine has some health benefits, then get those benefits by taking Resveratol supplements from Ray Kurzweil's longevity company, Ray & Terry's.

One of the purposes of this blog is to bring to light the
incredible power that marketing has upon society and the environment and to
analyze what forces are at work behind the scenes—where BIG Co’s fight tooth
and nail for our patronage

For example, how about the sideways logic of the TV
commercial for a major chicken chain that makes a joke about cows entreating
people to eat chicken, not beef. This
spot has been extensively aired, therefore it and must get the Chick Co’s the
ROI they demand...but how the viewers are supposed to reconcile the premise
that cows are special and chickens are not.

Obviously this
commercial is suppose to arouse some sort of empathy with the plight of cattle
and encourage viewers to substitute chicken for beef.

The cast of cows are portrayed as:

sentient--they
     can read and write

determined—they
had to organize their skydive performance

athletic—they
are expert parachutists with smooth landings

juvenile—they
have misspelled words on their banners

The irony of course is that the Chick Co is not encouraging
viewers to eat fruits, grains and vegetables, but another type of animal. Does the life a chicken not count as much as
that of a cow? If a cow counts, why not
a chicken?

Can a chicken feel love?
Many parrot owners will tell you that their birds love them. But if parrots tasted good, would people
savor parrot wings and thighs—no love lost?

And if hungry,
breast-loving consumers have been programmed to believe that chickens are dumb,
they might want to check out this video!

...go with the flow...flow with the Kaw

The Brainwashing of Society by Big Toe Buddha

Strict, very determined, people are
calling the shots on how most of us think and what we eat. They are defining who we are. They have most of us brainwashed.

Ethics—Corporate Style

Corporations face the same survival
imperative as biological systems in that they must comply with the law of
natural selection. Only the fittest
survive. And like parasitic organisms,
corporations characteristically avoid killing their hosts to prolong the
essential sustenance that the host provides--money.

Although the individuals that work
for corporations may hold high personal ethical standards, the survival of the
corporation is paramount. As
individuals join, serve and depart, they are soon replaced by new
employees. Profit generation is the
primary selection pressure on corporations and company men and women compete
with one another for monetary and rewards and accomplishment kudos. Shareholders demand fast returns on their
investment and corporate marketing is the key mandate of company officers.

The problem with corporations is
that they have no soul. The people that
work for them may, but the corporation only obeys the law of natural selection
and survival of the fittest. Of course,
there are notable exceptions of corporations doing good deeds, but this often takes
the form of promotional image advertising in the guise of generous
philanthropy.

Just look at the curve pitched to
consumers by big oil corps widely known to be polluters who suddenly claim to
be “green” businesses. Or beverage
producers that portray “responsible drinking...or burger chains touting the
quality of animal flesh sandwiched in tasty starch and French fries soaked in
artificial fatty acids.

Cattle have no feelings...they are
only delicious menu items.

There is a national chain TV
commercial where a rancher on horseback describes the furry, four-legged gentle
animals in the background as number One BEEF!
Then he shovels down a burger perched on the back of his truck.

No closeups of sad cow eyes, no back
story on how the burger he is eating was related to its kin that just walked
by, no thankfulness even to justify taking their life for food when that food
is not necessary. Humans function just
fine on plants alone.

The killing of animals to provide
food that we do not need is whitewashed by carefully designed TV commercials. It is likely that your tasty burger is
loaded with hormones and herbicides and pesticides and will eventually kill
you....but slowly because the corporate rancher needs to have you unconsciously
and enormously addicted to the taste and texture of the dead cow meat, hiding
the pain that cow felt when it was killed so you could chew it up and excrete
it.

Yet the big fast food Co's sell 25 billion dead cow sandwiches a year to Americans and no one thinks that
this used be a living animal that sensed fear and pain—they are merely a
factory processed food product. And we
accept this desensitization as just the way things are and bury any empathetic
feelings that our burger component once had a heart and a tail.

Some may counter that our species is
an omnivore and has consumed animals for millions of years. This is
true. You should eat whatever
you feel good about. The point is that
Big BEEF and Big BEER will do whatever they can to keep you addicted to their
products—like burgers, French fries, and beer.

Beer Bellies

Meanwhile people keep getting fatter
and fatter—in spite of the manifold dangers of obesity. No matter how light, or lite, beer is
fattening. We need to understand that
alcoholism is hugely epidemic because it is grossly underestimated—purposely
because it suits the BigALC Co's and indirectly because addicts are extremely
good at hiding their alcohol intake.

Viewers of sports are inundated with
pitches by coaches featured in national TV beer commercials touting the happy
feeling of a belly full of beer. So the
players must think, “How bad can alcohol be bad for you. The coach drinks it?” Look at all the happy people getting
plastered in the “before” scene and see how it compares with the “after party”
shot—not aired of course.

The reality is that once a person
becomes addicted to alcohol—even if they believe that they control their
drinking—they are now a valued, long-term, “consumer” for alcohol makers who
will do everything to make them feel better about their addiction by showing
attractive people toasting in their finery—not the drunk skunks they become by
closing time.

The sober market masters are in
control and they herd and massage the herd of human cattle into a dependable
purchaser of their extremely addictive drugs which they camouflage just like
Coke did with cocaine using sugar syrup.
Beer TV commercials even brag about their special line of yeast to produce
what they call a byproduct, but which is really, a waste product of
yeast fermentation.

Only by entirely abstaining from
alcohol will you rid it from not only your digestive and excretory system, but
from all of the cells of your body that have adjusted to work around or survive
the effects of lethal alcohol—the metabolic waste product of a yeast cell.

(Basically,
in aerobic conditions, yeast cells go through many steps and reduce sugar
completely through oxidation. But in
the anaerobic conditions in which fermentation takes place, yeast cells
incompletely digest sugar producing alcohol and CO2. Eventually, alcohol kills the yeast when it
reaches a certain level.)

Bottle
of wine, fruit of the vine. When you
gonna let me get sober?

As
to the widely purported cardio benefits of red wine....this is another
marketing coup. You should drink red
wine every day to promote your circulation.
Right. This feeds into the
acceptability of alcohol consumption—wear your finery and sip wine from a
crystal glass and you will be in great shape...or you could simply take a
Reversatol tab and avoid the alcohol trap entirely.

Getting Ripped--Legally

The energy drink Co's are masters at deception and
manipulation. If your fellow workers
competing for higher wages and status are consuming daily does of expensive
energy shot drinks, you may feel threatened because you may be less competitive
You will be self-pressured to consume them as well in order to match your associate’s
boosted productivity and stamina.
Eventually, it may catch up with them.

Is it a conspiracy?
Do CEOs plot to control information?
Hell Yes! What can we do?

     free of their control

I am pleased to report that I have consumed my
