Robert Lindsay's Source: Bigfoots Use Tools And Fire

Our large brains, our upright posture and two-legged gait, our ability to use tools and fire, these are a few of the features that separate humans from the apes. What does it say about Bigfoot if it possesses these same attributes?

Tim Fasano recently said in an interview that Bigfoot can't possibly be human if it doesn't use tools or fire. Fasano could be forced to change his position if what Robert Lindsay is saying about Bigfoot comes to light:

A source has informed us that Bigfoots do use tools, and they even steal tools from humans to use. For instance, they will and do steal knives. What they do with them, I have no idea. The source said in one case, they stole an altimeter. What they are going to do with that, if anything, I have no idea.

This person also said that they know fire, but they don’t want to use it because it’s a giveaway. He said that they do use it underground though, and Bigfoots live underground a lot. As I mentioned previously, the Bigfoots in the Josephine Long story ~1880 near Harrison Lake, British Colombia had fire in their cave. This person also said that Bigfoots will not steal guns, even if they are out in the open waiting to be stolen. For some reason, they don’t want anything to do with them.

This person feels that Bigfoots are prehistoric men like Neandertals or Java Man.

“They never went extinct,” they said. “They just switched to the nocturnal niche.”

Robert Lindsay: The Ketchum Paper Is Due To Be Published At The End Of February [Bigfoot DNA]

Dr. Melba Ketchum tells us the paper will be published when it's done. No specific date or time frame had ever been released from her camp. Based on information from a source, Lindsay believes the Ketchum Report is on the brink of publication:

We are finally able to give a date for the publication date of the Ketchum DNA paper. According to the Ketchum camp, the paper is due to be published at the end of February. That is one month from now. A news conference will be held at that time. But Ketchum has given publication dates many times before, and all of those have been wrong. But this one is after the paper was already accepted for publication (around December 31), so it’s likely to be more accurate.

If that news isn't enough for you, Lindsay has another tidbit: There will be more than one Ketchum DNA paper.

Shazam! So, what do you mean there will be more than one paper Lindsay?

Lindsay:

We have now learned that Ketchum will write not one but at least several DNA papers about this data. This is very interesting news. So the upcoming paper will not be the last word on this data from Ketchum.

On the other hand, I have problems with this to the extent that data about the materials used in the study may be locked down from release to the media for a long time even after the publication of this paper. For instance, after publication of this paper, I would assume that all data about the materials used in the study could be released.

However, if the material is then to be used on new studies, it may be embargoed again under the Ingelfinger Rule. All of the NDA’s, etc. so far have been done for a variety of reasons, but one of the reasons behind Ketchum’s secrecy is the Ingelfinger Rule.

However, the rule frequently allows a certain amount of release of data, so her paranoia doesn’t make much sense under an adherence to that rule. What the reasons are for it then, I am not sure. Anyway, it just prevents mostly her from releasing data to the media, and doesn’t prevent her from releasing data to fellow scientists say at a presentation. For instance, she is not supposed to do media interviews about the study before it is published.

Now, people like me can run pretty much any report we want about an unpublished study, but revealing the study results in detail would be pretty snarky and would almost constitute prior release under Ingelfinger. In the case of the Ketchum study, that would mean if we released actual DNA sequences or technical findings.

During the Alaska episode of Only America with Larry The Cable Guy, YouTube user Bigfootinvestigation spotted a strange figure lurking in the background while Larry is shown quartering a moose with Palmer Alaska football team players.

FB/FB made some closeup enhancements of the figure in the video and noticed the familiar Bigfoot tree peeking behavior:

Man In Habersham, GA Woke Up To See Possible Bigfoot Tearing Up The Side Of His House [Video]

On January 29, 2012, at 1 o'clock in the morning, Ben in Habersham, GA, woke up to the sound of his dogs barking and growling. He went outside, and in the flashlight, saw what seemed to be a huge man tearing up the side of his house, breaking his window.

Ben said he went inside to grab his 9mm and came back out to fire a shot into the direction of the creature, towards the back of his house. The creature ran off into the woods and left a trail of trash. Ben says the creature looked almost like a person and he's pretty sure it wasn't a bear. However, when police arrived, they told him it was probably a bear.

In the morning, Ben discovered some claw marks, a broken window, and a bullet hole in the side of his house. Fortunately for him, the bullet didn't hit the hot water heater inside.

Cliff Barackman Says He Felt A Bit Bad For Debunking Jeff Patterson's (Squatchmaster) Bigfoot Video

In last night's Ohio episode of Finding Bigfoot, one of the investigations was focused on Jeff Patterson's Bigfoot footage. The film shows a dark, upright figure walking through shallow snow to a tree. It then grabs the tree and starts shaking it back and forth until the video clip ends. According to Cliff Barackman, the footage clearly shows either a Bigfoot or a human.

During the investigation, Bobo proved that the creature in the video was much shorter than him, and the tree didn't take much effort to bring down.

There were a number of other "red flags" that suggested that the video was a hoax. Cliff felt that Jeff's son was probably coached on what to tell investigators. Another clear sign was that Jeff Patterson himself had confessed that the video was a hoax.

Here's an excerpt from Cliff Barackman's Ohio Field Notes explaining their investigation of Jeff Patterson:

Another red flag was raised while we were interviewing Jeff and his son. Being a professional educator, and having taught fourth through sixth grades for more than a decade, I was very eager to speak to Chris about the encounter. Most teachers are very good at determining when a student is telling the truth or not, or even if they are leaving out important details. I figured that my experience would give me a pretty good handle on the authenticity of Chris' version of the story.

When I asked Chris what the thing looked like, he said that he saw a large, dark figure shaking a tree. When he was asked if he could see its face, Chris answered that he saw a large, dark figure shaking a tree. When asked about if it was covered in hair, he said that he saw a large, dark figure shaking a tree. It was soon becoming pretty clear that Chris had probably been coached on what to say.

Comparing our recreation video to the original, it was obvious that whatever is in that clip is not very big. It seems to be about six to ten inches shorter than Bobo. Looking very closely at the original video, there seem to be some frames that hint at the figure wearing clothing as well, though this is less than sure.

Before we did our investigation, I received some information that the Squatchmaster video had been proven a hoax, so I did some online investigating into the work done by others on this film. I ran across a very reliable reference to a video where Jeff Patterson himself confessed that the video was a hoax, and that he did not believe that there were any bigfoots in Salt Fork State Park. At one point he said that he believes the footprints found in Salt Fork were the result of other bigfoot investigators trying to hoax him. The videos in which Jeff confessed these things had since been removed from his Youtube channel. Looking again, I found that all of the Squatchmaster videos were only a month or so old. It occurred to me that it had only been a month or so since the producers had contacted him about using his video for the show. I suspect that Jeff did a major house-cleaning on his Youtube page at about this time for obvious reasons.

At the end of every video recreation, each team member has to tell the witness to his/her face what we think of the video. Sometimes this gets a little uncomfortable, especially for Ranae when she tells them they're wrong or lying. Now it was my turn to feel a bit awkward. Jeff and Chris had been nothing but kind to us, and were enjoying their time recreating the film.

Each team member took his or her turn telling Jeff that the film probably doesn't show a sasquatch. My turn came up and I looked Jeff in the eye and told him that I did some digging on the history of this film. “Since you are on record yourself saying that the film doesn't show a sasquatch, why should I think it does?” were the words I used. Jeff agreed with me. Bobo later told me that Jeff looked like he was going to cry. I'm glad he didn't. I felt a bit bad. Jeff and his son showed up to the town hall meeting the next night and waved at us when we walked by, so I guess it didn't hurt his feelings too badly.

New 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair Poll Suggests 40% Of Americans Believe In Possibility Of Bigfoot

According to the March 2012 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair Poll, 40% of Americans believe it's that Bigfoot exists, and 33% of them are people with college degrees.

Read below from Vanity Fair:

Call him whatever you like—Sasquatch, Bigfoot, yeti—but many Americans would say “I told you so” if they actually saw him. Fairies are another story ...

This month’s poll results include the suggestions that (a) a college degree makes you almost as likely to believe in the Loch Ness Monster as in Bigfoot (this sets graduates apart from the rest of the population, which is heavily Sasquatch-centric with respect to mythological creatures) and (b) getting a college degree will also make it five times more likely that you will believe in fairies than if you, say, hadn’t done something about that “incomplete.” (Maybe this isn’t surprising: in today’s economy, getting that degree is itself an act of faith.) But tucked away amid this notable data, and unrelated to the preceding as far as we can tell, is a faint but detectable portrait of an entire segment of our population: older Americans.

No, really. Here’s what emerges: Older folks are far less likely, given the opportunity, to spend counterfeit cash; are twice as concerned about football players’ long-term health issues as they are about boxers’; favor, among flavors, “chocolate” over the otherwise widely popular “steak”; and are less approving than their younger fellow citizens of social-network communication between teachers and students. In other words, older Americans are, basically, rectitudinous N.F.L.-watching sweet tooths.

But they’re also trustworthy. Even two-thirds of the under-30s think so. Which is amazing, because trusting anyone over 30, as anyone over 60 would have told you when he or she was under 30, makes about as much sense as believing in the Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot.

If You Believe In Bigfoot Is An Ape Theory, You May Want To Check This List For Your Name

Robert Lindsay believes there's a war going on between the "Ape Theory Gang" and the "Human Theory Collective." Lindsay says the Ape Theory Gang is mainly led by Bigfoot researchers like Dr. Jeffrey Meldrum. "[T]hey say that Meldrum’s stranglehold over Bigfootery is the biggest thing that is holding the field back. I am inclined to agree. I am starting to think that Lord Meldrum is a problem," Lindsay wrote in an article today.

The war between the Ape Theory Gang versus the Human Theory Collective. There is a war in Bigfootery between the Bigfoots are Human folks and the Bigfoots are Apes theorists. The Ape Theory Gang is led by Field Marshall Meldrum and includes Bindernagel, Moneymaker, Bart Cutino, Mionczynski, Tim Fasano, Rick Noll and many others.

On the other side are the Bigfoots as Human Theory Collective. This line includes Bobbie Short, David Paulides, Richard Stubstad, and others, including us. The Human Theory folks have complained for years that they have been marginalized by the Ape Theory Gang. In fact, they say that Meldrum’s stranglehold over Bigfootery is the biggest thing that is holding the field back. I am inclined to agree. I am starting to think that Lord Meldrum is a problem – the despotic associate professor of Bigfootery.

This is excellent story, but unfortunately, we am not allowed to report on the juicier bits at this time. Hopefully we can dig up some more with time.

Dr. Melba Ketchum DNA Study To Prove Existence Of The Yeti [Rumor]

Yeti Hair Sample Recovered by Destination Truth Team

In 2008, Joshua Gates and his "Destination Truth" crew recovered a Yeti hair sample in Bhutan. The analysis reportedly came back as indicating "an unknown DNA sequence."

Fast forward 4 years later and now rumor has it that Dr. Melba Ketchum's DNA study (currently in peer review) will finally prove the existence of the Yeti in addition to Bigfoot.

According to Robert Lindsay today:

We have not been able to verify this rumor, but we have heard from several people that the Ketchum study also includes purported Yeti hair gathered by Josh Gates, apparently in Bhutan. We just heard it from someone very close to the study, so we think it is good.

The Yeti hair tested as no known animal, not human, unknown primate. Not only that, but the Yeti sample was actually close to the nearly 100 Bigfoot samples. So not only do Yetis exist, but they are closely related to Bigfoots. Some of us have always thought that Yetis were real, but lately, there has been a lot of skeptical research pouring cold water on the theory. The Wikipedia article on the subject says Yetis do not exist, and they are mythical.

I think the Yeti is a bit of a different hominid from a Bigfoot in quite a few ways, but it appears to be a closely related species.

Most of North America's tribal nations handed down cultural teachings about the Sasquatch. Names differed for them but the general description shared comparatively similar characteristics. The Native American's understanding of the origin and nature of the "wild men" varied from being considered simply another tribe, another animal, or even a supernatural spiritual entity, enabling it to become invisible at will. Some tribes believed that to witness a sasquatch was a bad omen, a warning of a tragedy to come or impending doom. Still others believed that locking eyes with the creature would bring certain death.

Own Pate (left) 1955-2011

Back in October 2011, the Bigfoot community was saddened by the news that Owen Pate had been killed in a tragic car accident. Mr. Pate brought us the 1996 Memorial Day Bigfoot footage from the state of Washington. After hearing the unfortunate news, it occurred to me that several people associated with purported Bigfoot footage had passed away within a few years of the incident. The following is a list of 4 additional men with important contributions to 'finding Bigfoot' who died within a few years after filming a possible sasquatch.

Harlan Ford - Death Date 1980.

1. Harlan Ford-- Recorded footage of the Honey Island Swamp Monster of Louisiana around 1963. He suffered a fatal heart attack in 1980. Strangely, Ford's good friend and hunting companion, Ted Williams, set out in his boat to run trout lines a few years later and mysteriously vanished. Neither Williams nor his boat were ever seen again. Williams claimed to have seen the swamp creature along with Ford.

Roger Patterson 1926-1972

2. Roger Patterson-- Filmed the famous Bluff Creek, California "Patty" footage with companion Bob Gimlin in 1967. Sadly, he succumbed to cancer nearly 5 years later in 1972.

Paul Freeman 1943-2003

3. Paul Freeman-- Captured arguably the best footage of the creature since Patterson/Gimlin in 1982 in Washington state. He collapsed from a heart attack in 2003.

Jim Mills 1942-2010

4. Jim Mills-- Behind the camera of the Marble Mountain footage from 2001. Campers in California spot a figure descending a ridge that raises questions as to whether it's a hiker or something else. Mr. Mills died of cancer in 2010.

It's peculiar that each incident involved the capture of film footage of a purported sasquatch. The Bigfoot community continues to be grateful for each of the men's contribution, and they are sadly missed. Our deepest condolences to family and friends who have suffered the loss of their loved one.

It's true that these are probably just a strange and unfortunate coincidence. Certainly there are plenty of surviving witnesses who believe they may have seen something strange in the forest. Most of us would be quick to dismiss notions of so-called curses as superstitious and silly. That sort of thinking belongs in antiquity or in fictional blockbuster movies such as "The Mummy" and its sequels. No one entertains such a thing these days--at least not in real life. But, even if we don't give notions of a 'curse' much credence anymore, plenty of rumors are whispered and circulate from time to time even in our modern and sophisticated world.

Some examples include the following excerpts from hauntedamericatours.com regarding weird happenings and deaths attached to a few feature films.

"The Omen" (1976)

"Scriptwriter David Seltzer's plane was struck by lightning.
Star Gregory Peck, in a separate incident, had his plane struck by lightning.
Richard Donner's hotel was bombed by the Provisional IRA .
Gregory Peck canceled his reservation on a flight. The plane he had originally chartered crashed, killing all on board (a group of Japanese businessmen).
A warden at the safari park used in the "crazy baboon" scene was attacked and killed by a lion the day after the crew left.
Rottweilers hired for the film attacked their trainers.
On the first day of shooting, the principal members of the crew got in a head-on car crash."

"Rebel Without a Cause" (1955)

"All three of the main stars (James Dean, Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo) died under tragic circumstances. Dean was killed in a traffic accident on September 30, 1955 aged 24, Wood drowned on November 29, 1981 aged 43, and Mineo was murdered on February 12, 1976 aged 37. In addition, Nick Adams is often linked to the urban legend surrounding this film. Adams, often considered "The Poor Man's James Dean", attemped to let the spirit of Dean live vicariously through Adams in his work, which was notably most successful with The Rebel (TV series). But following an Oscar nomination for Twilight of Honor, his career began to decline and he allegedly died of a drug overdose on February 7, 1968 aged 36 (although several people, including his own daughter, believe he may have been killed).

His friend Nick Adams, who had re-dubbed some of Dean's speeches in Giant after the accident, died in 1968 from a mysterious drug overdose. Co-star Natalie Wood drowned in equally unusual circumstances in November 1981, and another RWAC star, Sal Mineo, died five years earlier in a knife fight. Troy McHenry, a Beverly Hills doctor, bought the engine from Dean's Porsche and had it installed in his own car, but was killed the first time he drove it."

"Poltergeist" (1982)

"The Poltergeist curse is a rumor that a supposed curse is/was attached to the Poltergeist motion picture series and its stars. Dominique Dunne, 22-year-old actress who played the oldest sister Dana in the first movie, died after being choked by a jealous boyfriend in 1982. The boyfriend was later convicted and sentenced to six years in prison. During the fight Dominique Dunne had with her boyfriend that ended up with her losing her life, Dominique's friend who was at the house turned up the Poltergeist soundtrack to drown out the noise of the two yelling outside.

Heather O'Rourke, 12-year-old actress who played Carol Anne in the three Poltergeist movies, died in 1988 after what doctors initially described as an acute form of influenza but later changed to septic shock after bacterial toxins invaded her bloodstream.

Julian Beck, 60-year-old who played Kane in Poltergeist II: The Other Side, died of stomach cancer, with which he was diagnosed before he had accepted the role. Will Sampson, 53 years old, who played Taylor the Medicine Man in Poltergeist II, died of post-operative kidney failure and pre-operative malnutrition problems."

Despite the fate of everyone mentioned above likely being simply an odd coincidence, the tendency for people to link such tragedies to a "curse" says something about the human psyche. Perhaps people seek out patterns to waves of misfortune or tragedy in an attempt to make sense of why bad things happen to good people.

A Video Is Not Worth a Thousand Words

Video recordings of Sasquatch have also laid claim to the existence of the creature, but have also gained the same ambiguity that photography has brought to the creature’s existence. So many videos exist today showing a furry creature walking on two feet, which many are saying is just a man in a gorilla suit. So I asked myself what would make anyone think that because they have something on video, it will prove its existence?

Not even the Patterson/Gimlin film is and was enough to prove Sasquatch existence. In the World Wide Web videos in all kinds of format, from cell phones, high definition video cameras and security cameras have in one way or another captured some kind of creature on video. Some have amazing footage and others seemed staged, or just show a few seconds of what the recorder says is a Sasquatch. Yet the same questions are ask, why did the person not chase down the thing in the video, follow it closer, focused properly or moved to a better angle and get a clear recording of the creature. Others say, “if I was close to such a creature and had I hunting rifle, l would have captured it, especially if was looking for Sasquatch”.

So naturally this is just a bunch of hoaxers trying to get their fifteen minutes of fame. In many stories of closed encounters related by those who filmed the creature, not one of them seemed to have had the common sense to follow the creature and keep filming, or even try to capture it. Now, how can we prove he exists? When the majority us believe that at that moment, we would have the common sense to do the right actions to prove Sasquatch exist. So why in videos it never happens that way? Yet people go hunting all the time and take video cameras with them and hunt the most dangerous animals and bring back not only the animal but also the video proof of what they hunted.

Now to be fair, in some videos, the recorder was in a place that did not give the opportunity to get closer and had a low quality device that was not optimal for that kind of filming. Even the local news channels can sometimes surprise us by reporting on events of sightings, but often, it is more as a filler story of interest and usually the reporters kind of make fun and laugh about the story, ninety-nine percent of the time is not done as a serious story.

Will the way we find Sasquatch be a dead body and the video of the shooting of the creature? I often wonder if maybe science is already studying Sasquatch, and all the hoaxed videos and misinformation is just a way to throw people of the track, specifically those that would want to make a spectacle of the Sasquatch, so he will not end up like in the movie King Kong, as the last of his species. Will the videos report his sad ending and we will hear on video someone say, “It was greed and the ego of men that killed Sasquatch”.

Everyday more videos appear and some make fun of the creature by dressing up in a gorilla suits and staging a scene that are supposed to be funny. When I first began my research to write this paper, it was amazing how many times I believed, with in the hundreds of videos I was reviewing, I would find the proof I needed to justify my belief that Sasquatch exist. There were times when I wanted to kick my screen in and yell, stop putting stupid videos of supposed Sasquatch sightings on YouTube. Many times I almost thought of giving up and just live my normal life, even if I believed in Sasquatch, I would just wait quietly for that video report were they prove Sasquatch is just a myth and I would forget about the creatures existence.

But then I take a look at the Patty film, watching the behemoth female Sasquatch move gracefully with every step. Then she turns to look back at the man filming and I imagine it was me behind the camera, not Patterson. So today I wonder if I am one video away from seeing Sasquatch legend come to life.

For so many who believe and have spent decades in this pursuit, the satisfaction I believe will not be the proof he has always existed, but a hope that so many others can see the true wonder of nature the reflection of our own primal beginnings, staring back at us. Man has always been reckless in his first encounters with a new species, this has cost the loss of many species and even today more animals are close to extinction, like the big cats, possibly one day never to be seen again.

On Boxing Day last year (December 26th) in Canada, Bigfoot Hunter Todd Standing was featured on an episode of Call Out: Search and Rescue. According to executive producer Brian Ross, his crew’s experience with Standing ranked as the most outrageous.

The Columbia Valley Search and Rescue team weren't the only ones who thought he was crazy. One Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer wanted Standing to get a psychiatric evaluation after expressing concern over his well-being, venturing into harsh terrain on his expeditions.

$999 Will Get You A Hexacopter Drone Designed For Aerial Photography [Bigfoot Tech]

We've posted a few articles for Bigfoot Hunters in general about what type of gadgets to look forward to in the future. Earlier this week, we wrote about the Lytro camera that lets you refocus a photograph on any object later. These sorts of gadgets can be a tremendous help to serious Bigfoot researchers when they're out in the field looking for evidence.

Here's the latest tech gadget we think some researchers might be interested in. It's a drone called the "eye3", and it could be all yours for as little as $999 for the basic kit. For $2,500, you can pick up the full kit which includes the transmitter and receiver, and will allow you to put your camera in the air. For that price, they say the eye3 is still much cheaper than what some people were flying five years ago.

What's also cool about the eye3 is the ability to set way points with Google Maps like the screenshot below:

World Class Autopilot: The eye3's inertial management and autopilot functions are handled by the incredibly compact yet powerful APM2.

The first goal for the eye3 project the Siglers focused on was the need to make the vehicle lightweight, but powerful enough to be able to support a payload consisting of a professional-level DSLR camera and lens, which can get in the range of 5 to 10 pounds. To meet this requirement, the couple designed the six arm structure of the eye3 out of carbon and glass fibers, both of which offer strength without having to add weight to the frame. For the lifting power, each arm was outfitted with a 350W motor capable of up to four pounds of vertical thrust. With a combined capability of 24 pounds of thrust, the hexacopter has more than enough muscle left over after taking into consideration its own four pound weight.

Along with the vertical lifting power, having six motors gives you some redundancy. The Siglers claim that two of the rotors could fail and the eye3 could still remain in the air, allowing to land the UAV safely and make repairs. Because the kit is modular in nature, replacing parts is less expensive and it is possible to replace just what is fault as opposed to the whole assembly.

The eye3 also makes use of some excellent open source software called APM Planner that is built on the APM2 platform. APM Planner is an autopilot software that allows you to use Google Maps to plot out the path of the UAV, allowing you to dictate the speed and waypoint’s around an area. The software takes care of the takeoff, flight path, and landing, allowing you to focus on the photo’s you are trying to get. This along with the auto-stabilization features that have been built in make UAV flight incredibly simple.

The eye3 is powered by three CPUs, with a board that has additional I/O ports to add your own customizations. One of these will be needed for a live feed of what the camera is seeing, so you can make sure you are framing your shots correctly.

The Difference Between Sasquatch Footprints And Yeti Footprints

The Sasquatch are more humanlike in appearance and design while the Yeti look more apelike. Ohio Bigfoot researcher Tim Stover tells us he's been inundated with phone calls from the the local media asking him about his Bigfoot sighting from 20 years ago. Tim will be featured in this Sunday's episode of Finding Bigfoot where the team will investigate his sighting.

RAVENNA -- A local "Bigfoot" researcher says he's seen one in Ohio.

Twenty years ago, deer hunter Tim Stover Jr. saw something in the woods that changed his life.

"This thing was white, gray, silver colored and hairy looking. It was a bipedal subject staring right at me," he recounts. He believes it was Bigfoot.

Since then, Stover spends his free time in the woods searching for evidence of the hairy beast. He says he has found footprints in Northeast Ohio at West Branch State Park, located in Portage County.

Stover says he and his son, plus a few like-minded friends, hike the woods near the state park's campground. During camping season, they even do seminars on Bigfoot and lead night hikes for Bigfoot researchers of all ages. The walks get people outside and generate real interesting stories around the campfire.

Tim's story will be featured on the Animal Planet show "Bigfoot Hunters" this Sunday night.

Exclusive: A Message Regarding The "Body Recovery" Effort At Sierra Kills Site By Bart Cutino

Editor’s Note: This is a guest post by A-BFRO Researcher, Bart Cutino. Cutino, 35, is an unabashed, unapologetic member of The Bigfoot Research Organization, a diverse group of about 200 researchers and adventurers. He was a participant at the Sierra Kills body recovery effort in July 2011.

Last night while taking a break driving southbound from some winter northern California research areas with my partner Rgr Leiterman, I happened to see both Lindsay's “interview” with Justin Smeja and the ridiculous accusations & exchange posted with Dr. Meldrum. Having been an invited participant during the body recovery effort in July 2011 & having become the closest confidant and liason (if you will) from the bigfoot community to those involved in the shooting incident, I thought I’d clarify some of the rampant speculation and sensationalized comments.

Regarding the body search effort orchestrated by my good friend Derek Randles-

-Bobo and myself had been invited by Derek to attend the recovery effort a week prior as Bo and I were returning from the NorCal woods together and I can tell you from my participation in the search & my observations over the course of those three days that every word-phrase Meldrum took the time to highlight in red as erroneous from Lindsay’s “source” is 100% correctly “erroneous.”

-First off, Matt Moneymaker, who everyone knows is one of my closest friends in and out of the field for many years, was absolutely not at the recovery effort and was only told there was an outing by me (with very little information) a few days after my return home.

-As addressed, the dog handler visited the site on the third morning and was a very pleasant and professional woman. The dog handler was not looking for credit in discovery as she even declined to to be filmed or photographed with respect to the subject matter. The dog is trained strictly to detect human decomposition (a substantial & lengthy training process) and cannot be manipulated into successfully matching scents from a foreign, unfamiliar tissue sample as it could potentially ruin the dog's career.

-I haven't had a chance to talk with Jeff since last July at the site but I will tell you that the suggestion that any respected Associate Professor of Anatomy would make such a bold & presumptuous statement (regardless of his association of subject) without having an opportunity to perform appropriate scientific diligence is ridiculous. He made no such claim and I retrieved the sample for both Meldrum and Mioczynski to initially examine, in which they did using limited magnification that was available. Meldrum admittedly did have some preliminary reservations regarding hair morphology characteristics seen that he shared with all of us and I discussed personally with him at the site over the three days. I’m unaware if he was provided a sliver sample and or he’s personally done any further examinations.

Regarding Lindsay’s interview with Justin, you know immediately when you see a written interview of someone you know fairly well and it's obviously sensationalized, biased and paraphrased. That's usually when you can't see the written responses coming from the interviewee's mouth any longer and it only took about two questions of Lindsay's "interview" with Justin to see that from my perspective. Without even having an opportunity to talk to Justin until this morning, I can tell you there are countless mistruths, false facts and exaggerations to mention, but the DFG (Department of Fish and Game) story is worthy of some clarification.

Regarding the DFG's visit to Justin's house a couple of weeks prior to Christmas, Justin had contacted me extremely unnerved a few days before I was planning to head up to pick him up to place Reconyx cams in the northern Sierra foothills (nowhere near "kills" site). The unannounced visit by two officer's from the DFG was understandably "spooky" considering it was mid-day, they were persistent and very nonchalant in regards to how they verbally approached the subject matter.

Although impersonating an officer was an unlikely scenario as it's a serious offense in CA, and conspiracy theorists could scream “feds” all day, the real world scenario in my opinion was that it was in fact DFG and they were finally following up on several calls (likely made by internet bigfooters) about the incident and also were concerned more about a potential bear poaching relationship with this incident then animals they've likely determined do not exist.

The first thing we wanted to do was confirm it was in fact DFG and then we collectively decided it would be appropriate and in Justin's & everyone else’s best interests to grant a formal & truthful interview "in office" potentially with an attorney present & officially get the events of that day on record. To Justin's credit, he was absolutely ready & willing to go on record and although there's not much to fear since there’s no precedent where someone was retroactively charged with killing a species that isn't currently "recognized" by science, nor federal or state hunting laws, it’s not always easy by nature for lifelong fisherman & hunters to comply & cooperate with F&G when you’ve perceived them as authoritative eyes on your preferred recreational activities your whole life.

On our way up the I80 towards Reno I coached Justin on what to say when we contacted the DFG by cell phone and my advice consisted of him being 100% truthful, cooperative & professional in manner and language and not get caught in lengthy discussion of incident particulars over the phone (in person only). He left a message with the warden from my vehicle and was not contacted back for almost 36 hrs. By that time I had dropped Justin back off and I was already back home in Monterey (we only went into the field for one quick night). Justin was essentially told that his case wasn’t a priority and that they would contact him should they need to revisit it.

Over time, I've gotten to know both Justin and the driver personally & casually, as well as their immediate families. Although I wasn’t with them on that day, I'm fairly confident that they are being truthful to the best of their recollection of the incident and feel that anybody in my shoes would come to the same conclusion if they’ve spent the time I have around them.

However, as I’ve stated previously, it doesn’t matter what I or anyone else thinks, at the end of the day, we’re measured by results (in this case evidence). The boys understand that should the promised DNA results not be what they’re purported to be, then their incident is nothing more then an intriguing but anecdotal account. From the beginning, both have claimed that the sample they found was circumstantial in nature and with some significant time lapsed and I can tell you that both just want the sample verified one way or another and don’t fear the results. They’ve understandably believed by color appearance (with adult) location & circumstance there’s a good chance it’s from the specimen initially shot, but admittedly have never been 100% certain. (sorry- I assure you, no hidden bodies being kept or suppressed by my good friend Wally Hersom).

For what it’s worth, personally, I've never been as confident in the sample due to the circumstantial nature and timing in which it was recovered coupled with the concerns Meldrum initially shared from his admittedly “limited observation” of present hair morphology characteristics. I'd be lying if I said that I was optimistic about what results will show in the heavily anticipated "study." I don't mean that as a personal knock on Melba, nor let me make clear am I privy to or have any secret insight into potential results to be pessimistic about. I just personally live by "I'll believe it when I see it" & "it's nothing, until it's something" philosophies, particularly in this field and all I've seen thus far are speculative leaks, bold claims & conjecture. I would love nothing more to be pleasantly surprised for all parties involved (whom I have the utmost respect for & know just want the truth) as well as the field as a whole.

I've also received some emails from people wondering how if I believe the "Sierra Kills" story is true I could be involved in protecting those directly responsible for the shooting & endorse the killing of two sasquatches. I have a similar response as my friend Derek Randles (I consider one of the best natural woodsman and researchers in the game) that as a researcher & personal witness, the thought of two of these graceful animals being slaughtered sickens me to no end and I would never endorse the harming of these animals under any circumstance.... though wasting this opportunity and the enormity of what it could mean from a historical zoological discovery perspective (I cannot go back in time to change if I wanted to).... would make me even sicker.

In getting to know Justin personally I’ve also come to understand that it’s easy for us that are emotionally invested in this subject matter to sit here, judge and arrogantly proclaim what we’d do or not do in the same situation. A matter of fact, I’ve never told him this but one of the only reasons I refrained from possibly taking a shot at him (other then an unneeded assault charge) when I first saw him was that I didn’t believe him..... “yet.”

I’ve come to realize that maybe I would’ve done something stupid or regretful had I been confronted with a completely unexpected & immediate, frightening physical reality they both found themselves in. In addition, from an accepted biological perspective, what “they” are exactly remains to be seen and we could all argue about it all we want as it means nothing in the interim.

At the end of the day, I believe Justin should be judged by his actions that day not on how you and I as researcher/ enthusiasts (emotionally invested and interested parties & even some of us, witnesess) see & perceive sasquatches, but in how they appeared from “his” perspective initially, appearing suddenly, fully hirsute, somewhat frightening in appearance and potentially unpredictable.... “animals.”

A Skunk Ape's Leg And Foot While Sleeping?

Two years ago, Tim Fasano was virtually unknown in the Bigfoot community. Today, he has over 900 subscribers to his YouTube channel.

Back in 2010, after hiking 3 hours into an undisclosed location in Florida, Fasano captured on tape what looks like a skunk ape with its leg and foot sticking out from a palm cave. Tim was unarmed at the time and wasn't brave enough to try to find out what that foot belonged to. Tim suspected it was a bear at first, but after close examination of the video, he now believes that it was probably a skunk ape.

Ever since his Bigfoot encounter in 1992, Tim has been going out into the woods like clockwork, hoping to catch another glimpse of the creature. He knows Salt Fork State Park like the back of his hand and rangers even joked about building a cabin just for him.
