New Website Added: The Bigfoot Field Reporter

We have added a new Blog to our Websites database: The Bigfoot Field Reporter.

(This Blog has actually been around since mid-2009 ... not sure how we missed it!)

There have been some interesting and insightful articles coming out of this Blog lately. For example, today Sharonlee has posted an article about Steve Kulls, a bigfoot researcher whose name may or may not be familiar to some of you.

While Sharonlee states in her post :

"The first thing that stuck in my head and in my heart when I listened to Steve was his work with disadvantaged children. It impresses me that he is not "All About Steve" and would take the time to care for another human."

...the first thing that stuck in our heads was she took the time to research Mr. Kulls herself and base her conclusions of him and his work on her own personal observations.

Whether or not you agree with her (and we're not in any way implying that you shouldn't), today's post regarding Steve Kulls is a good one. -And we think you'll find many more good posts as you continue to read through some of the Bigfoot Field Reporter's previous entries.

History Revealed: Alexander the Great Fought the Yeti?

Did Alexander the Great fight the Yeti when his troops invaded India? Dr. Miland Brown thinks the answer may be "yes".

Dr. Brown has posted the following on his blog this morning:

While reading the Anabasis Alexandri (Robson translation) at the Ancient History Sourcebook at Fordham, I came upon a curious passage.

It reads as though Alexander's men, in the course of the invasion of India, fought a pitched battle with a tribe of Yeti! Very strange but it is indeed in the account from antiquity. Here is the passage that suggests Yeti's:

"Those captured were hairy, not only their heads but the rest of their bodies; their nails were rather like beasts' claws; they used their nails (according to report) as if they were iron tools; with these they tore asunder their fishes, and even the less solid kinds of wood; everything else they cleft with sharp stones; for iron they did not possess. For clothing they wore skins of animals, some even the thick skins of the larger fishes."

New Bigfoot Website Calls for Volunteers to Aid Documentary Film

William Barnes is out to prove the existence of Sasquatch once and for all.

His intended proof: clear, irrefutable evidence.

His tools: a 35-foot helium-filled blimp equipped with thermal imaging equipment.

His reason: a personal encounter with Bigfoot.

Mr. Barnes has put the call out to volunteers who wish to assist in his project.

As quoted from this website:

"I am working on a documentary, along with other "believers" and investors who are as interested in discovering this elusive creature as I am. There is a need for volunteers, hobbyists, and financial backers.

Hopefully we can find volunteers in electronics, remote control hobbyists, set-up crews, spotters, and more."

Bigfoot Video: YouTube Video Provides Theory Summary

We stumbled across this video on YouTube and wanted to share it with all of you.

In 3 ½ minutes, this video pretty much sums up all the theories surrounding the Sasquatch phenomena in North America.

The video covers off the full spectrum of theories from one extreme to the other. Yes, you'll find them all here, including:

Supernatural Being
Government Conspiracy
The Alien Connection

Regardless of which camp you sit in, it's interesting to watch this and realize that lots of people believe lots of things about Bigfoot.

New Bigfoot Site Added: The Friends of Bigfoot Social Club

This is Buddy Watchman's site, from the book by the same name.

In 2009, Buddy released his book "The Friends of Bigfoot Social Club", which is a fictional novel inspired by a real life encounter he had.

How did Buddy arrive at the conclusion to write a book? The reasoning for that is revealed in the book's foreword:

"I had three choices: keep my mouth shut, report the sighting with as much accuracy as possible and hope the details would give me credibility, or do what I have done."

What is the book about? Again, the foreward from the book clues us in:

"As you can imagine, seeing the creature was an enormous shock, and once the mystery of Bigfoot's existence was forever settled in my mind, the logical question that followed was: what is likely to happen when someone captures a Bigfoot?"

This video started popping up three days ago (Jan 8th). We found this clear version on YouTube and wanted to share it here.

What in the world is this thing? I looks like an ape to us, but hey, who are we?

The accompanying text with the video on YouTube says the following:

THE OFFICIAL MAINE TREE CREATURE VIDEO!! NOT A FAKE!! REAL VIDEO!!!! Maine Tree Creature! What is it? Sasquatch? Monkey? Ape? This video was taken by some friends walking through the woods when they encounter a strange creature in a tree!! Video is back up!!!!

Bigfoot Fancy 4 Kids is presented by Linda Perry, the same author of Bigfoot Ballyhoo. She has clearly taken the time to think about the types of things that will appeal to children. We especially like the Bigfoot Cookie recipe!

We have added a new Bigfoot site to our Websites Database: Bigfoot Ballyhoo.

There's an awful lot happening at this Blog!

Linda Perry, author of Bigfoot Ballyhoo, writes Bigfoot columns for two Oregon newspapers.

Of particular interest to us are her posts regarding law enforcement. In one post, Ms. Perry indicates there are a number of Oregon law enforcement officers who follow her Blog. There is also a post depicting "...a Cop's Bigfoot Sighting" where the result was the officer "...forced to take leave until he saw state doctor...".

Very interesting stuff here.

We are pleased to launch the completely new BigfootHub.com.

The site has been overhauled for three reasons:

Facilitate better back-end database operations
Feedback received from our visitors
Browser capabilities of our visitors

Database Operations
We have moved BigfootHub.com to the Force.com platform. From a database and web-design perspective, this new platform is significantly less complicated, resulting in expanded capabilities (for us) and faster page-loads for you.

Visitor Feedback
We sincerely appreciate the feedback provided by everyone over the past few months. As part of that feedback, we are incorporating new functionality that allows our Home Page to updated more frequently, as well as allow visitors to submit their comments on the headlines we post.

Visitor Browser Capabilities
Over 56% of our visitors are using the Internet Explorer browser. Further, 1 out of every 4 visitors has their screen resolution set to 1024x768.

Both of these statistics were unexpected during the original design, and the new site both addresses and better accommodates these visitor patterns.

As we're sure you already know, Oregon Bigfoot is Autumn Williams' site. We've been fans for years. Autumn's site is was the first of its kind on the web to publish a Sightings Database. Did you know that? It's true. Did you know she's a real, live field researcher? Yep. Not only does she go out into the woods looking for the Big Guy, she does it on purpose! Autumn has been in this business for a long time. When she says something, it's worth a listen. -And as luck would have it, she's saying a lot these days.

Interactive "Bigfoot World Map" from BigfootLunchClub.com

We love Bigfoot. We love geeky web technology. What could be better? How about combining the two into an interactive Bigfoot Google Map? Now that's geeky and cool!

The folks over at the BigfootLunchClub have created this very thing.

The map plots the locations of over 30 purported Sasquatch species around the globe. Interested in the Abkhazia from Western Caucasus? How about Vietnam's Người Rừng (forest man) or Australia's Yowie? It's all here.

Looking at all these map markers really makes you sit back and think. Things like "How is it that so many people in the world see these creatures, and yet there is no scientific proof?", and "They have Bigfeet in Japan?" and "We always wondered where Malaysia was." and "Isn't it odd that Africa is considered the cradle of civilization, and yet there doesn't appear to be any Sasquatch activity down there?"

It's amazing how fast you can scroll through the list and get quick, interesting information. Clicking on either one of the listings or the map marker itself brings up an information box full of information and links to even more information about that particular variant.

This is exactly the type of thing we like to showcase here at the Hub. This particular item is especially appealing due to its "international" flavor, something we have discovered is a rather rare find among Bigfoot sites on the Web. It's too easy to fall into the trap of thinking Bigfoot is a North American phenomenon. A quick review of this map clearly indicates Sasquatch-like 'things' are not merely isolated between the Pacific and the Atlantic, but rather all over the place! Are they breeding like rabbits?

We highly recommend the Bigfoot World Map, and both thank and congratulate the BigfootLunchClub on its' creation.
