This Full Moon ushers in a new, two-year-long cycle of eclipses in the signs of Cancer and Capricorn. Welcome to a critical phase of redefining safety and security and of figuring out how to provide for yourself and your loved ones. Our household is okay at the moment, but we do live in California, a state that is teetering on the precipice of bankruptcy. Many of our friends are unemployed, and others with government jobs have had their hours cut through furlough programs. It's a little hard to see where it will end up, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to be pretty.

Happy birthday to the land of my birth, and a love song to you from David Wilcox:
It’s who we’ve always been
The land of dreams and visionaries
The frontier starts again
Make our way with what we carry
The journey is from here, hope or fear
For our children’s children
We are the pioneers

Cleaning House
When you decide at this New Moon to spend quality time with your heart (and with the Sun and Moon opposed Pluto, you probably will)… it will be the unpleasant stockpile of emotional refuse that you feel compelled to [...]

The chart for Sunday's Full Moon in Sagittarius features a tight t-square between the Sun, Moon, and Saturn, so this morning has a bit more to demonstrate, I think, than the aggravations of a single morning. The Full Moon calls for reflection, and I'm reflecting on this: Where am I pushing too hard for the wrong things or at the wrong time? When is it necessary to push through blockages, and when is it wiser to heed them and wait for an easier moment? And, with the Sun and Moon in the communicative signs Gemini and Sagittarius, when is it time to speak, and when is it better to listen? ...

Few people in our lives get the opportunity to influence us when we are so malleable as in childhood, when brothers and sisters leave their handprints on us as they might in wet cement. But the truth is that while the emotional connection may be less compelling, we share similar bonds with people who share our neighborhoods, our communities, our alma mater, our mother tongue, the country of our birth. Ask any expatriate about the thrill of hearing his native accent or language spoken while in a foreign land. And the next time you’re at a party with a lot of people your age, introduce a tag line from a commercial or television show that was popular when you were in grade school. Suddenly, you’ll find that you’re among siblings who understand something about your history and who speak your language....
