Christmas Collection. Part II. Anabiosis.

All of a sudden my inspiration and creativity decided to wake up last night! My mind was overflown by ideas that were coming and disappearing right away. Well, luckily I captured at least some of them because when I woke up this morning there was no trace of inspiration left. It's gone now. Again :))

You know I have loads of things to do at university and I have to start my thesis and blablabla. So I wish I was working on those papers instead. On the other hand if I kept my ideas inside the world would never see those beautiful pieces. So I feel sort of proud of myself:P

By the way one pair of earrings is already on the way to Africa to meet its future owner.

Christmas Collection. Part I

This is the first item for this year's Christmas collection. Being a student and almost broke leaves me no choice but to make presents myself. And I love it:) I am only concerned if my friends are going to appreciate handmade gifts (because I know some people don't).

Like always my camera is unable to reproduce the fantastic play of light and colors. I tried to make different pictures from different angles and with different light conditions but no success. May be I will take it later but for now, I promise you those earrings are so much prettier in real life ;)

PS These earrings do not exist anymore. I thought that the problem of me not being able to take a good photo might occur because the earrings were simply not good enough...So I will come back with a new design soon. Stay tuned ;)

Seed Beads meet Wire

This type of necklace is very well known in a seed beads world. It is a technique that almost every beader wants to try sooner or later in her beading career. So now it was my turn. Crochet with wire can be rather complicated but not in this case, it is the most simple technique ever.

I enjoy working with cooper and this time I experimented with an extremely thin (may be 0,3 mm?) wire thread. I was a bit unsure in the beginning. My project progressed very slowly and I didn't really know where I was going. But this is my favorite part of any creative process. Just let your heart and hands guide you and you will not regret. The result pleased and surprised me at the same time. This was one of the best pieces I've ever made. I am not kidding!

This necklace was so beautiful that it just could not stay inside a box so it became a gift. I hope it's owner enjoys wearing it and they have a great time together :)

Chainmaille bracelet and earrings

Working on this jewelery set made me survive during an 8-hour long bus trip. Otherwise i would die of boredom. Working on all those small pieces makes time fly so quickly. Though I would not recommend anyone to play with wire and pliers while sitting in the bus. It can be dangerous not only for yourself but also for a person next to you.

The chainmaille technique I used is very simple. You start the necklace by adding three rings clockwise and continue like this until you reach the desired length. You can make it with or without beads. It's all up too you. I just think that those tiny seed beads make the chain look less shiny and add some fresh and casual feel. It is great for summer or spring season.

I made the clasp by coiling thin cooper wire onto a thicker wire. So as you see it's easy enough:)

This is a patchwork made of some furry fabrics. It is an example of how digital tools can help creating design for handmade crafts. First I stylized a photo in Photoshop and then I made a pattern for my patchwork. Now it is framed and placed on a wall at my parents home making them proud of such a talented daughter..hehe:)

Back to school earrings

Finally I got back to wire and beads!!! I was at the gallery yesterday and it filled me with inspiration and new ideas. Even though I had lots of school work I started making those earrings at once after I got back home. I just could not help it!!! I felt myself somewhat clumsy after being away from my lovely wires and beads for four months (wow it's been a long time). Anyways at the end I was pleased with the result. This earrings will look cool with casual and a bit sporty style a la Converse, I guess :)

Nowadays all my free time is dedicated to Flash and ActionScript 3. And this week a new course on Silverlight has started. Yeppie!!! I am very excited to learn even more things about animation, vector graphics and programming. And of course I keep searching for summer internship at the same time.. I wish there were at least 48 hours in a day. Otherwise life seems too short for all the things that I want to learn and try.

It's been a while since my last post. Unfortunately there are too many things to do so I have no time left for jewelry making. But thankfully all exams are left behind and new ones are waiting for me :(( Hopefully those long hours I spend at school will make my life better and happier at the end. I enjoy studying and learning new things but at the same time I can not wait to start doing something big and important. Life is too short to spend that much time and effort on fake school projects. I've started looking for a job and I do hope I'll be lucky to find a good one...

Yesterday I was checking my old files and look what I've found. My self-portrait!!! I painted it several years ago but feels like it was just yesterday...

Chenese knot necklace

I really need to forget about beads and wire..I REALLY DO!!!! My report is waiting for me and I have exams soon. But I can help it:(( My inspiration is stronger than I am. Here is a new necklace that I made yesterday. The chinese knot technique was inspired by works of this talented person.

Materials used for the necklace are 14- and 24-gauge cooper wire, seed beads and freshwater pearls.

It took me lots of time and I couldn't make it! Showing you one picture that came out more or less okay...By the way I didn't forget that this blog is about handcrafted jewellery:) I will get back to beads but for now I wanna play with my camera a bit.

Within the next couple of days I will try to find time and explain all those techniques that I've used. So if you wanna know how to make those photographs get back to my within one week or so. For now I can tell you that no special equipment or professional camera is required. All you need is a little bit of patience;)
