This is a rare meteorological phenomenon called a skypunch. When people see these, they think it's the end of the world. Ice crystals form above the high-altitude cirro-cumulo-stratus clouds, then fall downward, punching a hole in the cloud cover. Freakishly weird!

Responding to public demand, NASA scientists created a companion image to the wildly popular 'Blue Marble' released last week

The new image is a composite of six separate orbits taken on January 23, 2012 by the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership satellite. Both of these new 'Blue Marble' images are images taken by a new instrument flying aboard Suomi NPP, the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS).

Compiled by NASA Goddard scientist Norman Kuring, this image has the perspective of a viewer looking down from 7,918 miles (about 12,742 kilometers) above the Earth's surface from a viewpoint of 10 degrees South by 45 degrees East. The four vertical lines of 'haze' visible in this image shows the reflection of sunlight off the ocean, or 'glint,' that VIIRS captured as it orbited the globe. Suomi NPP is the result of a partnership between NASA, NOAA and the Department of Defense.

This is another example of an amazing illusion!!! The last sentence is so true.

If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, the dots will remain only one color, pink.

However if you stare at the black '+ ' in the center, the moving dot turns to green.
Now, concentrate on the black ' + ' in the center of the picture. After a short period, all the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you will see only a single green dot rotating.

It's amazing how our brain works. There really is no green dot, and the pink ones really don't disappear. This should be proof enough, we don't always see what we think we see.

OmniTouch: Wearable Multitouch Interaction Everywhere

Researchers at the Carnegie Mellon Human Computer Interaction Institute, together with Microsoft have developed a new system called the OmniTouch which has been designed to transform any surface into a touchscreen device.

The system consists of a pico projector and a motion detector that is mounted on to the users shoulder. It then projects a user interface onto any surface that is in front of the user, be it a user’s hand, notepad or anything else, enabling the users to then interact with the interface via touch.

This is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time.

It's a ball, with many cameras inside of it pointing in all directions. You throw it up in the air and it makes a dynamic panoramic scrollable picture of the whole scene.

I want one very badly. I just don't know if this is a dream or real. Anyone know?

Follow these simple 3 Steps... anyone who actually does this can not EVER say Google plus is dead... or "I don't get it".. I dare ya.

1) Circle at least 25 People. These will probably be people you don't know. Get Over that. Suggested users no good? Type whatever search word you are interested in, in that lovely "search google+" box at the top there. Circle at least 25 people up.. but more is obviously better. 100 is golden.

2) Make sure you have a Profile photo, something in your about me section and make at LEAST 1 public post... Go do it. Right now.

3) The most important step - Go through your stream and write a comment of some kind on every single post that you even kind of, sort of find interesting. Try and do something better that "lol" or "yeah" but honestly those can be ok too. Watch the video they posted, click on the link and make a comment or comment on another commenter's comments. Share something you really like. Mention someone. Google+ is about Interaction Repeat step 3 daily for best results.

Sit back and watch the magic of Google Plus happen for you.

This is just beautiful and awe inspiring. Some day humans will all possibly have the chance of seeing this themselves.

A time-lapse taken from the front of the International Space Station as it orbits our planet at night. This movie begins over the Pacific Ocean and continues over North and South America before entering daylight near Antarctica. Visible cities, countries and landmarks include (in order) Vancouver Island, Victoria, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles. Phoenix. Multiple cities in Texas, New Mexico and Mexico. Mexico City, the Gulf of Mexico, the Yucatan Peninsula, El Salvador, Lightning in the Pacific Ocean, Guatemala, Panama, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Lake Titicaca, and the Amazon. Also visible is the earths ionosphere (thin yellow line), a satellite (55sec) and the stars of our galaxy.

When grocery chain Tesco wanted to expand their market share in South Korea, they came up with a brilliant idea.

Because the people in South Korea work long hours they thought of an efficient way to sell their products. The Korean subsidiary Home Plus put up billboards in subway stations with their range of products, accompanied by QR, or Quick Response codes. All people had to do now is scan the QR codes with their cell phone and the groceries were delivered to their doorsteps.
