Symphony 2010 : Festival of KJSCE is finally back

Symphony, is the annual inter collegiate cultural festival of K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering. Held at the beginning of February every year, Symphony attracts a crowd of 15,000 students from 150 colleges all over the city. Competitions at Symphony encompass a wide range of genres, including Music, Dramatics, Literary, Arts, Dance and Fine Arts.Every year, variety is introduced in the competitions, posing a challenge for the competitors, and providing a refreshing change for the audience. This festival has progressed by leaps and bounds over the years with 50 odd events being organized in just two days.

Pronites at Symphony perhaps steal the show with the festival boasting of a guest history like Bombay Vikings, Rahul Vaidya, Parikrama, Strings, Euphoria, Dj Suketu, Louis Banks and many more.

Symphony 2010 plans to venture into an even bigger arena,planning to pull in many more with the Laser show arranged for the first day. Our theme for this year is ' Emotions & Expressions '. Thus the talents of the students from myriad disciplines are manifested in the various events; each signifying an important dimension of human emotion and expression.

Clinnt Eastwood is back on da screen with a bang baby........'Do u feel lucky punk, Do ya'

Gran Torino is quite a simple movie set in contemporary America, with all its fallacies in place like family disintegration, divide arising out of growing migrant culture and all too lenient gun laws. The plot revolves around a world war 2 veteran's coming to terms with his new surroundings around his own home while dealing with loneliness and a general apathy towards the current generation of people.

Clint Eastwood at 78, amazingly is still able to do justice to the masculine image that is associated with him while not hiding any of the effects of the aging process (wrinkles, illnesses etc)...the supporting cast too does its job well, especially the hmoong girl......

All in all a well-made movie

Seven Lives, Many Faces is the title of the musical project Enigma's seventh studio album, released on September 19, 2008, internationally and September 30, 2008, in North America. Michael Cretu stated that the new album will feature an omnicultural sound unlike anything on its previous releases. On September 12th, the album was released on Enigma's MySpace page. One of the best films of 2008, Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of Jamal, a young man from the slums of Mumbai who appears on the game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' & exceeds all expectations, arousing the suspicions of the game show host, played superbly by Anil Kapoor & of law enforcement officials.

This is Danny Boyle's one of the best, if not his best, direction. The performance he brought out from the cast is really impressive. The technical execution is even better. Be it the editing, cinematography, the raw style or the locations.. this film scores in all. This definitely is among the year's top 5 films & many times better than any Bollywood film released in 2008.

The cast is almost perfect. Every cast has done justice to his/her characters. Dev Patel impresses as Jamal. Anil Kapoor as the host of the game show was amazing. Irrfan Khan was as consistent as ever. But, the real show stealers here are the performances of the younger casts. Touching, Gripping, Realistic, Innocent... few words to describe their performance.

The great A.R.Rahman gives yet another great n classic soundtrack tht perfectly accompanies the action on screen. Perfectly suiting the film's theme, this is one of Rahman's best work. Loved the 'Jai Ho' song... the instrumental music in tht song is too good. He might have given better music in Indian films (acc to many) but this is 1 film tht is providing him all the honors n recognition around the world tht he so truly deserves, much more than any other Indian. The world will now see more of Rahman n will discover tht he is no less than the great John Williams, Howard Shore or Hans Zimmer.

Wasn't expecting much from this film, but it turned out to be good,... Really Good .

CHANDNI CHOWK... is a hit before its release

Though the debates are on around the box office outcome of RAB NE BANA DI JODI, another film which is continuing to earn audience for itself is CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA. The film would be released in a little over a month from now (16th January 2008) but in the interim it has managed to create quite a sizeable population for itself which is waiting to catch the film with a bated breath.

While the music of the film was released in the middle of last week, a little before that the theatrical promo was unveiled. The response that this initiative generated has been beyond the expectations of even the makers of the film, as can be judged by the statistics that reveal that more than 3 million downloads of the film's promos have already been made from the websites. Now that's an unheard of number, especially for a mainstream film which in fact is being promoted as an international venture by its backers Warner Bros.

In fact if one goes to the site, it is seen that CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA has been positioned quite prominently with it's logo appearing first, hence edging out numerous international projects that are being backed by Warner Bros.

Says an official from Warner Bros., "The response that we have fetched it unprecedented. Moreover, if one looks at the fact that this is a foreign language film for us, we are truly amazed at the reach that CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA has generated."

With the response to the promo being huge and Akshay Kumar's popularity riding high, especially during last 3 years, Warner Bros. has confirmed big plans for the film's release. "We are certain about releasing CC2C on 1400 odd screens just in India. In USA, it will be the hugest release ever for Akshay. We would also be holding the film's premier across the globe. CC2C will certainly redefine what BIG stands for", says the official in a confident tone.

Drona Movie Review

honestly i was waiting for this movie to release and become a huge hit cause i feel superhero movies need to be made more in india but once again a film which had potential to be different fails miserably .
Drona never connects and moves with a pace of snail .......everything it tries to do either looks half hearted or has been done before numerous times .its difficult to review this film because it is so unstable in its execution in every department .the special effects at some place looks good but at some places really bad the same can be said abt the acting,tone,costume ....i mean every damm thing in the movie looks half hearted .
Drona clearly misses its audience too ...at the begining it looked like a film which was aimed at the kids and latter turns dark and again turns into something totally childish .i wish i had something good to say abt it but i guess the only good thing abt this one would be Kay Kay Menon's presence otherwise even Abhishek has nothing to offer .

a Pakao film and not worth ur time or money .
