Bollywood’s bong beauty Tanushree Dutta might have kept a low profile for a while but this year seems to be seeing few of her releases, with Apartment & Rokk, getting her appreciation. Her filmi platter seems fairly impressive with the 2nd half of the year having another film – Rama, The Saviour, up for release. The film is a children’s fantasy but Tanushree has a complete out-an-out action role, where she has done the stunts herself alongside the Great Khali. But when asked that if she is worried about loosing her glam avtaar? “Who is not worried about being typecast, but I am not frightened because I have always experimented with different roles. I was one of the 1st actresses to have done bold scenes in my debut film. Today every girl wants to do it, but I have moved on since”. In real life, Tanushree confesses to having a ‘Live and let live’ attitude and prefers to distance herself from showbiz once off the sets and definitely keep away from controversies.

The hacker who got Meghna ‘pregnant’!

Actress Meghna Naidu complained to the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell in Mumbai this week, about a hacker who got her ‘pregnant’.

Unknown to the actress, a hacker had breached her Gmail account a few weeks ago and was chatting away with her friends, falsely claiming that Meghna ‘was pregnant from a fling with a guy whose name she couldn’t remember’ and that she ‘needed advice’. How imaginative!

But when this impersonator said hello to the actresses’ ex-publicist Dale Bhagwagar on the chat, the PR specialist sensed something fishy about the way Meghna was chatting. “PRs specialize in understanding the psyche of their clients. I take special efforts and time to comprehend how each client thinks, feels, behaves and talks. This person on chat had a subtle devilish sarcasm, and as I know Meghna, she’s cool and clear, but hardly sarcastic,” said the publicist. So immediately after the chat, Dale called her residence to verify if it was Meghna on the chat, and her parents told him, she had gone for her yoga class.

When the actress returned the call an hour later, she was shocked to learn about the conversation. Meghna said, “I was paranoid when I checked my Google chats. This imposter had been chatting with a lot my friends and claimed I was pregnant out of a fling. To add to this craziness, he wrote, I’d forgotten the name of the guy who made me pregnant. All this bogus talk was insane and scary.”

IshQ wants to romance Deepika!

IshQ Bector may have a music-bank of over a hundred-and-fifty songs, but when it comes to dedicating one for that ‘special someone’, he dreams only about the sensuous Deepika Padukone. That could be the reason why he has devoted an entire song titled “Tu hi meri angel, tu hi meri dream girl” to the Bollywood charmer.
“It’s an out-and-out fun romantic number and if Deepika agrees to feature in its video, I’ll gift her a hundred teddy bears,” says IshQ, with a mischievous smile.

Its homecoming for model-turned-theatre actor Ananya Dutta. She has been roped in for Amit Sen's “Notobor Not Out”. Talking about her foray into Bengali cinema, Ananya says, while in Mumbai, I was concentrating on ad films and theatre. Amit and I have worked in ad films too. We share a certain comfort level. Besides, I’ve also liked the script of his sensible comedy. I’ve two lovely songs composed by Debajyoti Mishra in this film. While Raima (Sen) plays the love interest of Notobor, I play the girl on whom Notobor has a crush. Ask Ananya about the plot of the film and she says “Notobor is a quintessential Bengali guy with poetic aspirations but without the required talent.” Through some supernatural influences, he gets a magical quality of penning spontaneous poetry. Soon, he moves from his middle-class background to the up market advertising setup. Notobor meets my character when he joins the ad agency. Ananya will begin shooting for the film on January 10. Begum Sahiba - the biggest Hinglish play of all times is slated for its premiere staging on 7th November, 2009 in Mumbai. It has four stage shows in the calendar month of November in Mumbai at premier theatre Rang Sharda.

The play revolves around yesteryear super-star Chandini (Poonam Dasgupta) who fell in love with Abdullah (Rahul Roy) an Arab prince. Abdullah fondly called her his ‘Begum Sahiba’. Narmmadaa’s the latest fitness freak!

It seems the fitness bug doesn’t spare anyone. Govinda’s daughter Narmmadaa Ahuja is the latest debutante to jump onto the treadmill. The bodacious beauty, who is getting ready to announce her debut film, has been exercising religiously over the past weeks, led by her personal trainer, Viraj Samalkar. And the results seem to be showing.
Not that she needed to, but Narmmadaa has already lost around four to five kilos of weight. Viraj has put her on a strict regimen of dieting and exercise.

“I’m very particular about working out and sometimes even manage to workout at the break of dawn.”

Though the newbie says, she prefers exercising

“on warm summer mornings, rather than these dull rainy ones”.

While she has her mind set on her health, Samalkar makes her do thirty crunches every alternate day that in her own words, are “the most tedious part of the regimen.” But if there is one thing that Narmmadaa has no complaints about, it’s her diet. A mix of carbohydrates and proteins, along with lots of vegetable juices and chicken, she simply loves binging out on it, while still maintaining her 25 inch waist. “The diet has left my hair and skin glowing gorgeously,” she says with a smile.

He was in the wilderness for a while. But with the success of ‘Life Partner’, the original darling of the B’town box-office, Govinda, seems to be back in full form and for good.
‘Life Partner’ has clicked with audiences and the Govinda-magic seems to be working all over again. For one, how could a film released on the holy day of ‘Janmashthami’ or ‘Govinda’, as it is called, not be a hit for the actor, who takes his name from it?
The film, which sees him paired up with the beauteous Amrita Rao, features the actor in the quirkiest role of them all, as a marriage-averse divorce lawyer. But the audiences have just lapped it up, even braving through the Swine Flu epidemic, to get their dose of Govinda, both inside and outside the theatres.
While his last big success was the similarly titled ‘Partner’, ‘Life Partner’ shares no connection with the earlier movie, apart from Govinda as the common factor. While ‘Partner’ saw him share screen space with Salman Khan, ‘Life Partner’ stars Fardeen Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Genelia D’Souza and Prachi Desai alongside Govinda and Amrita Rao and has been directed by Rumy Jaffrey, with Abbas-Mustan as producers.
Now one wonders, if the ‘Partner’ tag is a lucky gem for Govinda and whether we ought to expect more such titles in the future.
However, the most interesting aspect of it all is the fact that originally, Govinda was just meant to appear in a cameo role in the film. But with him working his magic, the makers realized that ‘Life Partner’ needed to have him in a longer track and kept extending the role, till it eventually turned into a starring role.

Produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. and directed by debutant director Anthony D’Souza, ‘BLUE’ has sure spiked up everyone’s curiosity with its promise of breathtaking underwater sequences, thrills, adventure and fast paced action!
Akshay Kumar plays the character of a rich businessman who is obsessed with money and thirsts for more. He plays a driven man who does not hesitate to flaunt his arrogance and status.
Based on the oceans, the significance of ‘blue’ doesn’t end here. He even owns a business called ‘Blue Shipping & Fisheries’!!!
The director Anthony thought it would be a brilliant idea to have ‘Blue’ tattooed on the back of Akshay’s neck as it would add that extra edge to his character. And it was sheer presence of mind to call Akshay’s character ‘Aarav’ as he had already inked his son’s name on his back!
Looks like Akshay has once again proved his dedication to his craft and his penchant for perfection

Saat saal baad - Big B and Sanju baba at loggerheads again

In the current decade, Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt have worked together in half a dozen odd films. 'Shoot Out At Lokhandwala', 'Eklavya - The Royal Guard', 'Deewar - Let's Bring Our Heroes Home', 'Viruddh' and 'Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin' are some of these films. However, the one which clearly stands out amongst the crowd is 'Kaante' [2002] which when released seven years back had given a different dimension to their on screen rivalry.
Now it's time for the two veteran actors, though separated by a generation, to be at loggerheads again in Eros International’s 'Aladin'.
Agrees Sujoy, "Yes, Mr. Bachchan and Dutt saab are fighting it out again in 'Aladin'. It's a different energy altogether when actors like these are pitted against each other. This time around it is 'Genius - The Genie' (Big B) v/s 'Ringmaster' (Sanjay Dutt)."
If one goes down the memory lane, 'Kaante' had been ever so memorable for Sanjay Dutt's cold dialogue - 'Major, Tu Sirf Bhaukega Ya Kaatega Bhi [Major, are you only going to bark or even bite]?' that had created a frenzy of sorts. No one had expected any actor, even though he was someone of the stature of Sanjay Dutt, to address a living legend like Amitabh Bachchan in such manner, even though it was for screen. Moreover, Sanju baba has been known for respecting Big B since decades due to which this dialogue was even more shocking and had made headlines.
Do we expect such headline grabbing antics in 'Aladin' as well?
"Well, when two actors like these are pitted opposite each other, there are bound to be fireworks. Now whether these would be through power packed dialogues or some intense scenes or symbolic gestures is something that would be for audiences to see once the film arrives this summer. However, I can assure that those looking for a man to man combat, whether physically or verbally, won't be disappointed",

smiles Sujoy who is said to have created enough dramatic sequences featuring the two.
"I couldn't have wasted this opportunity for anything", he smiles, "Both of them have appeared in quite a few movies together but their characters have more often than not shared cordial relationship with each other. In 'Aladin' that's hardly the case. They are on different sides of the fence and have fought it out in the middle. Watch out for them!"

Aggressive Josh in “Toss”

Actor Ashmit Patel started his Bollywood journey in year 2003 with film “Inteha”. Soon after that range of films were released, from Murder to Fight Club, Banaras, Dil Diya Hain, Nazar and many more. He is all set to mark his success with upcoming film “Toss”. In recent conversation with the bindaaskhabar, he briefed everyone about the making of the film, his experience, story of the film and his role. “Toss-A flip of destiny” is presented by Knox Entertainment and is produced by Mukesh. D. Ramani. The film is directed and written by Ramesh Khatkar.
Toss is a story of a group of childhood friends and incident which occurs and changes the flow of their life, relationship and beliefs. He plays the character of ‘Josh’. Josh is aggressive young blood. He is short-tempered and works in an advertisement firm. He holds the capability to sell glares to a blind man. He has excellent ability to market the product and pursue people to buy anything and everything. He is in love with Sheri played by Madhureema. He withholds his emotions inside and doesn’t know how to express his feelings for her. He further says,

“Toss is a fast-paced thriller-pact film. Its presentation makes the movie interesting with ample of twist and turns. It’s a film through which one can understand the role of destiny in each one’s life. It shows how many can change relationships and their meanings.”

When asked about the Director, he commented, “I know Ramesh Khatkar since the time of film ‘Inteha’. He approached me with some project and we were in talking terms. But somehow it couldn’t work out. But it clicked for ‘Toss’. It was great to work with him. He is thoroughly passionate towards film-making. Stubborn and straight-forward about his thoughts and direction. He forgets everything while the shoot is on. He even forgets that one needs to eat. He himself doesn’t eat anything and make us starve too.” When asked that film has a huge star-cast, how was his rapport with everyone and with whom was the tuning best? In return he answered, “As we all belonged to the same age-group it was too much of fun on the sets. Everyone gelled conveniently. But I Know Rannvijay since Roadies time and therefore, it was great to be on sets together.” When he was asked about his co-female actor Madhureema he said,

“Madhureema is casted opposite me. And it was good to work with her. She is simple and highly focused. More than her looks, glamour, media she focused on her work and performance.
My upcoming films include “The Flag” and “Florida Road”. In “The Flag” I play character of young, simple and emotional villager guy. It is patriotic film. On other hand, “Florida Road” is an international project. It is my first step towards Hollywood. It was an immense pleasure and ample to learn from it."

"YEH MERA INDIA" is an attempt to explore the real stories behind the headlines that flash every day and night on T.V channels revolving around violence, atrocities. YMI discovers how the world keeps on moving in spite of so much of multi layered bias which is actually the root cause of all this.
Y.M.I has lots of abusive language and also revolves around the sensitive topic of North-Indian and Marathis. During the film went for censorship, Director N.Chandra was very doubtful of the board to pass the film without any hassle. 5 members of censor board saw the film and decided that film will get “A” certificate. They further said that it would be unfair to cut the bits and parts of film which contains abusive language and scenes which can have multiple meaning to it and eventually lead to dis-harmony. Cutting of scenes can break the flow and dis-value the subject matter of the film. Hence, they decided to give it “A” certificate. From 18 promos to showcase on T.V., censor selected only 4 of them keeping into consideration the unrest it can cause in society.

Prachi is playing the role of Gujrati girl in movie 'Life Partner'. Her character is very conservative and she believes in arrange marriages. But in real life she is yet not interested in marriage. Though she beleives she will marry, but with whom? Answer of this question she want to leave on the time. Her priority is only work now.

What attracted you to the script ?

It is a very interesting topic. Its about life before and after marriage and most interestingly it has all the emotions depicted in it.

What’s your character in the film ?

I am a Gujarati in real life and I play a Gujarati girl in the film also. In fact my character’s name is also Prachi in the film. My character is very conservative and believes in arrange marriage.

How was it working with director Rummy Jaffery ?

He is a great director, his experience speaks for him. It was fun working with him, Because he always used to keep the atmosphere light with his jokes and never pressurized any of his artists for any thing.

How was it working with Tushar Kapoor? How was your chemistry ? Have you seen his previous films ? Which one is your favorite ?

Tushar is a very good costar. My chemistry with him was great, though I took little time to open up we later hit it on well. I have seen most of his films and I really like him in Golmaal.

And your co stars - Fardeen Khan and Genelia Dsouza ?

Fardeen and Genelia are very sweet. I have seen their movies and have loved them…it was a great experience working with the people I have always admired on the silver screen and apart from that Tushar, Fardeen, Genelia and I are working together for the first time…so it was a great experience.

What you think is better Love marriage, or arrange marriage ?

Yes, I do believe in marriage but its too early for me to say whether I believe in love marriage or arrange, I have never thought about that…may be I will be in a position to answer this question after 10 years from now.

How would you want your ideal life partner to be like ?

Like every girl even I want my life partner to be a tall, dark and handsome guy but you never know how, when and who will come and surprise you in your life.

Sanjay Dutt dons a new hat!

Shilpa’s Yoga’ in Malayalam

The dubbed Malalayam version of ‘Shilpa’s Yoga’ is now released by Shemaroo Entertainment on VCDs. This VCD is an introduction to 'dynamic free-flow' yoga practice by popular Bollywood actress - Shilpa Shetty.
It is inclusive of various chapters – introduction by the renowned actress Shilpa herself, followed with Asanas [postures] like 'Back Asanas', 'Stomach Asanas', 'Standing Asanas', 'Sitting Asanas', 'Neck and Shoulder Asanas' and Pranayam [breathing]. The running time is of over 60 minutes approximately.

Neha Marda made her television debut with the serial `Saath Rahega Always’. She worked in a number of serials after that. But she became a known name in households with her character as Gehna. But Neha had to work a lot to get into the character.
“Gehna has emerged as a strong character now. But initially there were scenes which required tears. I was not even allowed to use glycerin. On the sets, I was kept away from the rest of the cast. The director would ask me to recall the sad moments of my life. When I was all worked up, I was called in to give my shot”.
But Gehna’s tears have touched her fans so deeply that they have all the sympathies for the gal. Neha shares one such story with us.

“I was in Inorbit, where an old lady on wheel chair approached me. She hugged me and said Gehna if your in laws didn’t give you food leave them and come to my house; I will give you food. And if Vasant ill treats you leave him and you can come and stay with me. That was so cute and I felt so touched that I couldn’t stop myself from hugging her back. The incidence made me realize that how much I am loved by my fans”.

TANU AND UDITA IN ‘ROKKK’

Udita Goswami and Tanushree Dutta are working together in a True Story film ‘ROKKK’. Rokkk is a horror genre which deals with mature thematic and super natural thriller having paranormal experiences throughout that will keep the audiences glued to their seats till the end. Film is presented by Ikkon Films and is produced by Krishan Chaudhery, Sumeet Saigal and Vipin Jain. It is directed by Rajesh Ranshinge who has made thrillers for T.V like Sssh Koi Hai, Aahat and CID in the past.
In this Film Udita and Tanushree are playing Sisters. Tanushree says “Every actor wishes to do different roles and show their potential in a vivid manner. Similarly I was open to doing different roles and this fell into my lap. I’ve always wanted to do a horror film and I got this opportunity through this film. I am looking forward to this film and am quite positive about it”. She further added “I love the genre and am highly fascinated by all the ghostly things”.

As per Mr. Krishan Chaudhery, the producer of the film, this film has all the horror elements that audiences would wish to watch in a film of the genre. We have both fabulous actress Tanushree Dutta and Udita Goswami working in the film. The director, Mr. Rajesh Ranshinge is at his best for making the audiences like this horror movie.
Along with Tanu and Udita, the other artists of the film are Shaad Randhava, Sachin Khedekar, Ashwini Kalasekar, Murli Sharma and Aarif Jakaria. The producers confirm that the film is slated to go on the floors on the 12th of August this year.

Ramu's hot heroine Nisha Kothari is coming in his next film Agyaat. Agyaat was being shot in the jungles of Sri Lanka… and that’s the time action against LTTE was in full force. Agyaat is an unknown fear. We talked her about her experience in the horrible jungle. Nisha says that they were always surrounded by animals; hotel was like a mini zoo. If sandwich were kept on table then the monkeys used to snatch away them.

What is your character in Agyaat ?
Agyaat like Blare Witch Project is film within film… And obviously I play an actress in the film. After we land in deep rain forests of Sri Lanka, it starts raining and the shooting stops for the first few days. What transpires after that is the story of Agyaat. Basically the film takes us into the unknown space.
Do you think the film is inspired from blare witch project ?
Inspiration may be it is…. but it’s definitely not a remake of any film, be it Hindi or English.
We are intrigued by the promos, so what is killing all of you guys ?
What is killing us is unknown…. It’s all about the feeling of fear. You will have to watch the film to know what is killing us.
Have you ever shot in real jungle before this ? How was your experience ? Did you experience any real danger ?
I have never had an experience of shooting in any rain forest or jungle, or even never ever been on a holiday… So shooting for Agyaat was my first time in rain forest, it was for the very first time that I got to experience the real jungle…. Sounds and experience of jungle is not something one can explain in words... We were always surrounded by animals; our hotel was like a mini zoo. Since where we shooting it is rain forest; there use to be lots of lizards and monkeys hanging around. If sandwich were kept on table then the monkeys used to snatch away my sandwich. We used to change our routes daily because of the scare of wild elephants blocking our ways.
Rain forest usually has a very difficult climate and what did you hate about it ?
Yes, the climate was a bit difficult and I hated its unpredictability. Some times it used to rain so much all of a sudden that we had to stall our shoots for days together. And once shooting was cancelled then it would be sunshine.
Agyaat was being shot in the jungles of Sri Lanka… and that’s the time action against LTTE was in full force – any untoward incident or anything that you saw or anything exceptional that you heard…
Yes, we were shooting in the forest, which were 40 / 50 kms away from the main city where all the action was in full force… In fact there were multiple blasts in Colombo the very day we left from there for Sigiria. We had to face a lot of security hurdles while going back at the airport, we all were checked from top to toe, we had rounds of question and answers with the security officers and then we were allowed to go ahead. All our equipment was checked and checked again.
Working with RGV ? What do you think about his penchant of horror genre ? Do you think he is a better director in paranormal films or action films ?
Working with RGV is always a different experience for all the films. I think he is good at what ever he does. The best thing I like about him is that he gives all his artists a lot of freedom to improvise and emote. He is a true director.
How difficult or easy it is to shoot if the film is set in a film…
According to me, it depends up on how you take it. It can be easy as well as difficult. For me it was not very easy neither very difficult.
Ever in your own life have you come across an incident that has had no explanation and you still struggle to explain.
I have not come across any such incidence but I have heard such stories from my grand mother.
What according to you is Agyaat ? And why should someone watch this film ?
Agyaat is an unknown fear. One should watch it to get scared and put their scariest imagination power to work.

There seems to be a lot of excitement in Shruti Haasan’s life, who is all set to make her debut with Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd’s ‘Luck’ directed by Soham Shah! The latest news is that musician-actor Shruti Haasan has geared up to pay tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson on August 29!
As a tribute to the late pop star, a group of young singers will be performing live in Chennai. A source said, “Shruti will be performing on three Michael Jackson numbers. However, they are still to zero in on the songs. Young talents like Benny Dayal and Krish will also be performing.”
The show will be held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. Many performers and celebrities are expected while the details of which are being finalised.
However, it’s also confirmed that Shruti’s father Kamal Haasan along with AR Rahman, Shankar Mahadevan and others shall attend the extravaganza! While news is abuzz that several legends from the music industry are likely to be present at the event!
Signing off, Shruti Haasan said, “It’s a really big event in Chennai. It’s a meeting of all musicians, who are coming together to pay tribute to the career of a great man. We are all very excited and enthusiastic about the show. We are the first city to do something like this in India.”
