            <description><![CDATA[AllGreen Energy India is planning to set up 10 biomass based power projects each with a capacity of 6.5 MW  in the next 2-3 years. The first 3 will be set up in Karnataka, TN and in MP. The company will utilize e-choupal of ITC to procure bio waste, pulpwood and other commodities  from farmers. The total likely investment for these projects will be around Rs.5000 million and it will operated on ‘build, own and operate’ (BOO) basis and will be commissioned by 2010. The plants will use (BIGCC) biomass integrated gasification combined cycle technology to facilitate production of by-products like activated carbon. Likely revenue splits for these projects are 70% from power, activated carbon 15-20% and the remaining from carbon credits and other facilities. The company will create a SPV for each of these 10 projects. ]]></description>

A 10 MW biomass power plant will approximately cost Rs.500 – 600 million. Governments which spends huge amount for empowering villages can resort to setting up of renewable projects. This will also helps in reducing transmission losses and could power surrounding smaller industrial units. These projects will come up in Raygada, Nawarangpur, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Dhenkanal and Puri districts. The Sali Vahana Green Energy will set up a 20 Mw bio-mass based power plant in Dhenkanal and Satya Bio-Power Industry Ltd plans to set up a 10 Mw plant in Ganjam. AVN Power Projects proposes to set up 10 Mw power plant in Kalahandi and Prasad Bio-Energy will set up a 10 Mw unit in Raygada.

While Jaylaxmi Bio-Energy Ltd plans to set up a 10 Mw unit in Nayagarh another plant of similar capacity by Andhavarapu Bio-Energy Ltd will come up in Nawarangpur. Sampath Power Projects Ltd and Falcon Green Energy Ltd propose units of 10 Mw capacity each in Khurda and Puri respectively.]]></description>

Sun Plant Agro plans to start commercial production of algae bio fuel by 2010.             <description><![CDATA[Indian Oil Corp is planning to take up plantation of bio fuel seeds like jatropha and karanjia in waste lands in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It will deploy contract farming to cultivate the bio diesel seeds. The company has already acquired around 30,000 hectares of land in Chhattisgarh and around 20000 ha of land in Madhya Pradesh.  Around 1000 hectares of land is already cultivated and plans to increase it to 10,000 ha this year. The turnaround period for bio diesel seeds is 3-4 years. It seems the government is also promoting with minimum support price and constituting a National Bio fuel Fund and a National Bio fuel Coordination Committee. It may be noted, IOC R&D is extensively testing bio diesel with Indian Railways and Haryana Roadways to meet stringent international standards.]]></description>

	be 1.81 acres, which is available within the existing power plant. Bagasse will be the primary source of fuel. Besides bagasse, 
	sugarcane trash, maize and rice husk will also be used as Bio-Mass. Biomass requirement will be 176682 MTPA. About 3108 MTPA 
	fly ash will be generated which will be supplied to nearby brick kilns. Water requirement will be 4.0 MLD, which will be obtained from

	 Biomass Power Plants in Tamil Nadu have reduced their power generation capacity as the demand has come down. Since 
	May 2013, the state government has allowed unconditional intra-State third party sale which has resulted in reduced power 
	shortage for HT consumers. The current cost of per unit of Rs.6.5 from biomass power plants is costlier by Re.1 which finds 
	few takers. The generation has been selling 20-25 MW in October 2013 from 100 MW last year. This has also resulted in 
	decrease in off-take of agricultural residues from farmers who in turn have petitioned the government. We have to wait and see
	 whether government can bring a preferential tariff to biomass producers
