His film All the Best — Fun Begins... directed by Rohit Shetty, is as fine a Diwali gift to cinegoers as it may get. Slowly, it has picked up steam at the box office and is now laughing its way to the bank. Literally!

“The film didn’t open big on Friday but on Sunday and Monday, it jumped by leaps and bounds — from 30 per cent to 95 per cent,” said trade analyst Amod Mehra. Indeed, because audiences everywhere are having a blast watching the comic timings of Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Mugdha Godse, Fardeen Khan and Ajay. “It’s very refreshing. No number of stars given by critics can change the opinion of cinegoers. Once the public says a film’s a hit, then it’s a hit. This film picked up because of word-of-mouth publicity,” added trade analyst Komal Nahta.

Multiplexes are enjoying the post-Diwali ticket sales that this Ajay Devgn Films’ release is fetching them. “On Tuesday, the film did better business than it did on Sunday and Monday. The audience, just like me, was laughing its guts out,” said Ashish Saxena from Reliance BIG Pictures. Devang Sampat from Cinemax attributes the success to Ajay having picked the right script for the festive season. “It’s been a trend where people look for total entertainment during Diwali. They just want to have a good time... I’m expecting this film to do even better in the coming days,” he said.

Not strangely, film critics have given good ratings to this one too. Even Bollywood stars, keeping their own films aside, have been entertained by this comedy. “It’s an honest entertainer and I laughed throughout. I felt happy after watching it,” said hunk John Abraham. Ditto was the reaction of the producer’s wife and beautiful actress Kajol. “I laughed, my daughter Nysa laughed and the whole theatre laughed. And that’s when Diwali started!” she said.

Bipasha Basu Kickedout off Raavan

How refreshingly different it would have been to see Bipasha Basu playing Abhishek Bachchan’s wife in Mani Ratnam’s film Raavan. Alas! The casting coup wasn’t meant to be.

Bipasha, who was roped in to play Mandodari, the wife of the eponymous antagonist, has now been dropped from the project for the reasons not yet clear. Some sources claim Bipasha’s role was making the film too long. She was also supposed to shoot an elaborate item song. Other sources allege that Bipasha’s part was turning out to be digression in the film’s plot. And there are also some rumours claiming that the other actresses - namely Aishwarya Rai and Priyamani - were getting insecure of Bipasha’s presence in the film and therefore had her ousted.

While the rumour seems just hogwash, Bipasha is truly sad over having lost the chance to act in ‘Raavan’, even though she had just a guest role. The disappointment is all the more aggravated because the actress had even done dress rehearsals for her role.

However, Bipasha is taking consolation from the fact that Mani Ratnam, the master storyteller, has promised to work with her in the future.

Mumbai: Bipasha Basu had a quite horrendous Durga Puja celebration this time for the actress was groped by a stranger at a Durga Puja pandal.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Bipasha, who is a staunch Bengali, decided to participate in the Durga Puja festivities at The North Bombay Sarvojonin Durga Puja in Santacruz with boyfriend John Abraham.

“Bipasha and John came together for the Durga Puja in the evening and Bipasha was very excited as has always been part of Durga Pujas in Mumbai over the years. Just after the darshan, she was near the stage when some pervert groped her breasts. Bipasha, of course, was taken aback and flew into a fit of rage. People around her tried to calm her down. John too was present there and he whisked her away to calm her down. She even wanted to lodge a police complaint. However, she had second thoughts. As for the sick man, he quietly and promptly ran away, taking advantage of the commotion”, said an eyewitness.

Bipasha had gone to the pandal (being managed by Rani Mukerji) on Rani’s invitation and the last thing she was expecting was to be left feeling sick at such a shameful incident.

Well, all that we can say is the fact that if such a thing can happen to a top-notch actress, then what about a common woman?

Bengali beauty Bipasha Basu's sultry status has been reaffirmed.

The Bong actress has topped this year's Maxim Hot 100 list, beating last year's winner Deepika Padukone who stands at sixth position this time.

Bipasha credits her Bengali genes for her hot looks and said such things can't be created and come naturally. The 'hot' word has stuck with her, but she feels good about it.

Bipasha Basu plays Mandodari in Mani Ratan's "Raavan"

The dusky bong beauty, Bipasha Basu has stepped into Mani Ratnam’s Raavan star cast.

She is playing Mandodari, a character that Nayanthara was approached to do earlier. This character is a pivotal role in the film and she has an item song and also a few scenes. Bipasha has given almost 20 days inspite of her busy schedule, as she was keen to be a part of a Mani Ratnam film.

Raavan unit is currently shooting near Mumbai and Bipasha will join the unit by September 15. The buzz is that the actress had agreed to do the film, a month back, but on Mani’s strict instructions, Bips was not allowed to talk about it.

So it remains a mystery why Suhasini called up Nayanthara who was shooting abroad for Aadhavan and ask for dates? Sources close to Bipasha says that her costumes are ready and she is very happy and looking forward to working in the film.

Ajay Devgan, who is known for his daredevil stunt scenes, has broken all his past records in his forthcoming film, All The Best. He has proposed to leading lady Bipasha Basu in an upturned car, which is suspended mid-air.

A source from the production unit said, “It’s quite a unique stunt. We took all the precautions as it was risky for both Ajay and Bipasha. The car was suspended mid-air and Bipasha had to stand under it. Ajay had to maintain his balance in the car and, at the same time, look romantic as he was proposing to Bipasha by offering her a rose. It took almost two days to plan the scene and an entire day to shoot it.”

The show is said to be desi or Indian version of America's Next Top Model. It is rumoured that the show will hit the small screen next month and King Khan wanted the sultry bong babe Bips to host the show since the American version had stunning supermodel Tyra Banks as its host.

The show's is apparently named ‘The Female Model Hunt' and the details have been worked out to the last minute. Rumours are that the judges for the show will be noteworthy personalities from the modeling world. Rest everything is a hush-hush.

Model-turned-actress Mugdha Godse had hoped to celebrate her birthday on Sunday (July 26) in grand style with her friends from the modelling and film world. But she was disappointed on her big day as the cast and crew of her forthcoming film, All The Best, didn’t turn up, despite being invited.

On July 17, we had written that all was not well between Mugdha and Bipasha Basu on the sets of All The Best. Though both denied that there were any problems between them, Bipasha not turning up at Mugdha’s do confirms the issue. Probably, Bipasha is no mood
to patch up. But why did Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan and director Rohit Shetty not attend the bash despite being invited?

Our source said, “There was no reason why nobody else (apart from Bipasha) from All The Best did not attend Mugdha’s bash. She was constantly looking at the entrance hoping that her colleagues from the film would drop by.”

Although her boyfriend Mithun Purandhare, was constantly by her side and tried to lift her spirits, Mugdha was disappointed by the no show of the All The Best cast and crew.

Mugdha remained unavailable for comment. However her spokesperson said, “Mugdha had hosted a quiet dinner. Rohit Shetty had a social engagement to attend. As for Ajay Devgan, I know he was shooting till late night for Once Upon a Time in Mumbai and had to report for the same early next morning.”

However, in attendance were her friends from the fashion world, models and designers and so were Madhur Bhandarkar, her Fashion director, and co-stars Priyanka Chopra (Fashion) and Neil Nitin Mukesh (Jail).

Bipasha impressed by chivalrous Fardeen Khan

The flamboyant Khan has made quite an impression on Bips. John, however, need not worryBipasha Basu was highly impressed by Fardeen Khan while working with him in Ajay Devgan’s home production ‘All The Best’. Though the movie has many stars, it was Fardeen who made the maximum impression on Bips.

Bipasha tells a tabloid: “Fardeen is a very philosophical person, very well-read, intelligent, well-behaved and chivalrous. I found him a most impressive talker.”

The two bonded well during the making of ‘All The Best’ in Goa and Hyderabad. In fact, when Fardeen came to know of Bipasha’s plan to learn belly dancing, he got excited and offered to sponsor her dancing classes. Bipasha, in return, promised to show Fardeen and Ajay her belly dancing moves once she learns it. However, she hasn’t even begun yet.

Shooting for ‘All The Best’ was a welcome change for Bipasha after playing a serious role in Rahul Dholakia’s ‘Lamhaa’, which has got stuck on the floors because of some ego tussle between Dholakia and producer Bunty Walia. A month-long shoot of ‘All The Best’ in Goa followed by a short schedule in Hyderabad has re-energized Bipasha.

Set against the backdrop of Kashmir, the Sanjay Dutt-Bipasha Basu film “Lamhaa” has faced trouble a bit too often.

The latest in its long list of problems is that director Rahul Dholakia has turned his back on the film and is not agreeing to allot dates for the shoot although the “busy” Bipasha has already given dates.

Dholakia has some personal work and he reasons that the scenes that have to be shot are very crucial and he has to be in the right state of mind to shoot them. He cannot just shoot randomly, he has said.

Due to this producer Bunty Walia and Dholakia are not on talking terms and it looks like the film may face difficulty and delay in completion.
