Film George Lucas was the first Hollywood filmmaker to credit Campbell's influence. Lucas stated following the release of the first Star Wars film in 1977 that its story was shaped, in part, by ideas described in The Hero with a Thousand Faces and other works of Campbell's. The linkage between Star Wars and Campbell was further reinforced when later reprints of Campbell's book used the image of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker on the cover.[37] Lucas discusses this influence at great length in the authorized biography of Joseph Campbell, A Fire in the Mind: I [Lucas] came to the conclusion after American Graffiti that what's valuable for me is to set standards, not to show people the world the way it is...around the period of this realization...it came to me that there really was no modern use of mythology...The Western was possibly the last generically American fairy tale, telling us about our values. “I was as dry as a dead nun’s cunt in the desert” are the first words to emerge from the Nightingales’ latest album, demonstrating their continuing rude health and way with a blunt lyric. Having reanimated in 2004, the great post-punk survivors have continued to produce music as powerful as in their 80s heyday: a mix of Bo Diddley, Captain Beefheart and Neu, all filtered through the weird and wild Midlands mentality of Robert Lloyd. The lyrics are barbed, funny and dramatic, frequently pulling you up when a clever line leaps out: “you won’t find me in a Batman suit and dangling from St Paul’s” pronounces the narrator of the fiery ‘Real Gone Daddy’. The band switches between full-throttle rock’n’roll (‘Best of British Luck’) and a super-rhythmic motorik groove (‘The Done Thing’). If album opener ‘Ace of Hearts’ (supplier of the “nun” quote) has a raw and rumbling Link Wray early rock sound, ‘Dick The Do-Gooder’ (an archetypal Nightingales title, if ever I heard one) is a fizzing mix...

The Iron Man shop on Amazon sells Punk, Rock, Metal, Acoustic and Alternative music on CD, Vinyl, and DVD. When I started going to Record Shops they were independent businesses, and prices could differ greatly from town to town, shop to shop. These days Record Shops are on their ass for a number of reasons. The few independents that are left are finding it hard to stay alive but they provide an important outlet for new and interesting music. I run the Iron Man Shop to provide a small alternative outlet at cheap prices to help bands get their music out. Everything for sale in the Iron Man Shop I have found direct from the bands themselves or distributors who offer items at reasonable prices. I only sell what I listen to myself, what I like and I what can recommend to you. Every item is brand new and most of the items are shrink wrapped.
