I didn't end up following the instructions like I should have on this weeks assignment. I guess I was suppose to show you what love means to me, and what defines it. Instead I decided to take a few shots showing things I love. Well of course my family is my Love, as well as God. But these are some other things I fine to have in my life everyday. So would mean to be pretty important.

As soon as I saw the theme for this week, I knew what I was going to shoot. I actually had a series of photos. But wanted to be able to challenge myself, to narrowing it down to one and the viewer would still know what is going on. Journey's is something that is a major part of a military families life. Just happen to catch us during one.

Here is a shot from a maternity shoot I had on Monday. I really liked the composition, but wasn't sure if I could pull it off. I think it turned out pretty good. Although there is always things I would have done different.

52 week Challenge: Week 1

Hi!! I am so excited to share a new journey that I am embarking on with 20+ other photographers!! It's a 52 week project where we have 52 different themes and each week we focus on one of those different themes to stretch our creativity and keep us actively engaging our love for photography! This weeks challenge is Self Portrait. It takes everything in me to do these. I truly hate it. ROFL. But hey, that's what this is about. Challenging myself to grow as a better photographer and ever as a person. So here I am =)

My recent Birth. This was my first birth at a hospital, with the siblings. The youngest girl was the cutest thing. Constantly standing by mom's side, making sure she was okay. Since they were at the hospital at such early hours, they were hoping she would take a nap. She was just pacing back and forth, wondering when the baby was coming. At some point, even started to rub moms feet. She was so precious. Mom also did so well. Epidural didn't really kick in till right before pushing. No matter how much they were trying to rush it in her. So she had to work through the contractions. The family there, was so supportive, she did great. Hope you enjoy the sneak peak.

My Play

First I masked out the shadows and worked with the levels. Then I added a Sunshine Memory Action. Rotated the image to get rid of the angle (personally wasn't a fan of). Then I did obvious cloning to fill the empty corners. Added a Sun Flare action and ended with a texture layer. Thanks for the challenge Ladies!

Is there anyone even out there?

I wouldn't blame ya if you left me behind a long time ago. I am really terrible at this and yet to figure out how this is suppose to help my business.

I have been doing well. Busy with just normal life. Unfortunately, not as good with cleaning the house included in my "life" busieness. The 4th was, well.... alright. It was a day full of activities. But my attitude was much lacking and I think didn't help the day to be too enjoyable. Here is a few shots from the day:

Ugh, so behind on blogger. Not many readers I have let down, I am sure =)

Today is a busy day. We take the kids to gymnastics on Saturday. But today we will have to drop me off at the near by Starbucks for a meeting, for a potential Doula interview. After gymnastics, I am scheduled for a hike up kole kole with a doula friend of mine. This is where I worry things may get complicated. She is also pregnant and the first I get the privilege to photo shoot during her at home, water birth. Her EDD isn't due till mid June. But this is her third child, and she has been experiencing much of Braxton Hicks. I am worried that this 5 mile hike, will provoke her labor. I would usually be very excited. But I haven't mentioned that I have another mother, who I have been paid to shoot her labor. Unfortunately, she is 41wks and is going to have to be induced. She is scheduled to arrive at the hospital 9pm, tonight. I am hoping that they will give her cervix softener for the evening. Giving me more time, if my hiker friend decides that tonight will be the night. I was also able to arrange a local photographer as a possible replacement for my friend, if need be.

I will not be able to post photos of my induction birth, as it has been requested by the couple, none of the photos to be posted on the internet. But if and when my friends home birth happens, I am sure she will have no problem with me sharing photos with you all.

I was also able to get a small boat for Monday, Memorial Day, on the sandbar. We will see if I am able to get a moment to shoot. I hope you all have been well.

So, there is this cool place I hang out online. It is a message board for photographers. On there is a forum where they can sell items with each other. There is another fellow doula on there, that is also a photographer. Her name is Andrea. Anywho, she was selling her 35mm film camera. I picked it up for a fabulous price, so my son could use it. He was loving his cellphone camera. So why not see what he can do with this. He finished a roll in less then 15mins. I will be getting it developed soon.

what makes a boring blog? Is it the ones you need to read alot of babbling? No photos? Or just bad photos? Is it the blogs that are too confusing of a template to figure out how to leave a comment? I would love to hear from you all. Tell me what makes a boring Blog? I am striving to become a better blog.

brewing coffee at midnight.....

Good Morning. Not sure if it will still be morning for those reading this. Possibly, in some parts of the world. Even the east coast should be getting a start on their day. Not here in Hawaii. I actually just fell asleep. But was woken up by the call I have been anticipating. "Calling to let you know, we are going to head to the hospital." My first official client for photography alone. See, I wouldn't be typing this if I was their doula. I was going to go back to bed and wait to hear what the hospital stress test says. But I needed to pack everything, and get it ready. My camera battery is charging, next to the coffee machine. I have the Tom Tom hooked up. My back up camera already loaded in the car. Now I wait.

I was stupid to have not clarified a few things with her. See, around the same time she contacted me, I had someone contact me about my doula services. Not her first child..... many years since her last.... but should be quick. For some reason, I think I got the two expecting mothers history mixed up. I can't remember if this is the one that had a quick labor in the past. Hence why I will probably just load up, after this battery is charged, and head over to the Hospital. Shouldn't catch much traffic at this hour ;) Not sure what hubby/kids will do in the morning, if I am still at the hospital. If our only car, is still at the hospital. *shrugs* coffee is done.....

A viscous circle...

I am stuck in a rut right now. I lost alot of weight over the past couple years. Although the first 30lbs were done pretty healthy. The rest was much starving/coffee/stress diet. Now the stress is over and the starving doesn't seem to be working anymore. *sips coffee* So the weight is coming back on, pretty quick. I meet with the doctor on tuesday. I am sure there is nothing medically wrong. But I want to get that cleared, so they can refer me to a dietician.

Until then, I am stuck. Not fitting into anymore of my clothes. Not wanting to go out. Looking in the mirror and seeing fat. How can I lose this weight, if I am too depressed with myself to get out and do something? I haven't been to work in ages. Partially because we had company visiting from Chicago. But after they left, I couldn't find any work clothes to fit into. Not comfortable enough for me to work in. And my fat suit (one of those body girdles) is getting too tight. I want to puke when I am wearing it.

So here I am. Wasting my days on trying to get a Blog going. Now I have it done, and I sit at my computer. Fine. I will get my butt on the elliptical.

P.S. The Butt is the least of my worries. I am one of those that get it all around my mid section.

The Beginning......

So, another attempt at a Blog. I hope to add more in the header design, as well as more links. But I am waiting for my NEW logo design to be complete. This is my third time at branding. It is pretty sad. I guess since I feel like I can't improve my photography overnight. I could atleast improve my look, right? Also, I went from hazelview photography, to focusing mainly on Birth Express.

I was talking to a photographer the other day. She said she was asked to shoot a birth. She was apprehensive because she is worried that people will try and ask more of her in this area. I am like her with the Newborn Photography. I don't mind doing it. I just don't want it to be part of my field of photography. Once you post one photo of it, the requests start coming in. So, I guess this is why I went away from Hazelview, and only on Birth Express.

So we will see how I do with this Blog. It is mainly to give me a place to post my NON-birth related photos. As you see in the two photos initially posted below. Is anyone reading this anyways? =)
