D.I.Y. Frozen Party Decorations

Each of these amazing and easy Frozen and Frozen-inspired party ideas gives you a chance to put your own stamp on your child’s birthday celebration. Keep on reading for the how-tos!

Frozen Wall Decor

Transform your party space into a snowy, shimmering winter wonderland!

Used in this party decorating idea: [one_half]

• White table skirts
• Blue fluffy tissue paper decorations
• Snowflake cutouts

• Scissors
• Tape

[/one_half_last]

First, cut four table skirts in half length-wise. With one end of one piece taped to the wall, and with the bottom touching the floor, make a slight fold every 6 to 12 inches and tape the fold to the wall to secure. Repeat for the next seven pieces, raising the height by 1 to 2 feet for each piece, creating a ruffled, layered effect.

Next, assemble the fluffy decorations according to the directions and attach to the top layer of the table skirt.

Tape the snowflakes to the top layer of the table skirt to create a snow effect. It’s like you’re living in Arendelle!

Frozen Cake Decorations

Ever birthday party needs a birthday cake. Here are a few ideas for decorating a Frozen themed cake that your little princess is sure to love. We used a three-tier birthday cake as the base for this design, but you can easily adapt these ideas to fit with a cake of any kind.

Used in this party decorating idea: [one_half]

• Frozen cake decorating rings
• Frozen birthday candles
• Sixlet candies (blue, white)

• Blue rock candy sticks
• Snowflake candies or other white candies

First, line the bottom edge and top tier of the cake with Sixlets in alternating colors. Then, insert rock candy sticks into the cake around the middle tier. Line the outside of the rock candy layer with cupcake rings.

Arrange the candles on top, and add the snowflake candies for extra flair. If you can’t find snowflake candies at your local candy shop, you can substitute white chocolate candies of any kind to finish off a cake that’s as beautiful as it is delicious.

Frozen Table Decorations

With the birthday cake completed, it’s time to spruce up the rest of the table, too!

Used in this party decorating idea: [one_half]

• White plastic tablecover
• Blue table skirt
• Light blue tulle
• Snowflake garland
• Snowflake cutouts

• Snowflake stringer decorations
• Frozen birthday banner
• Clear string lights
• Tape

Place the tablecover and skirt on the table. Using tape, attach the string lights to the front, middle and sides of the table, achieving a swooping effect. Repeat next with the tulle, and then with the felt snowflake strings.

Tape the loose snowflakes into a 3-piece cluster and attach it to the front center of the table. Hang the Frozen birthday banner on the back center wall behind the table and hang string lights on either side of the banner. Repeat with tulle to cover the lights, and tape up loose snowflakes between the tulle/lights and the banner.

Frozen Room Decorations

To tie together the whole theme, consider decorating an area of your living room that often gets overlooked–the corners. This decoration is a nice touch to make your party area feel more wintery, no matter what the season is outside!

• Christmas tree stand

A piece of PVC pipe inserted into a Christmas tree stand serves as the base for this decoration. If you’re feeling extra crafty, you could construct one out of scrap pieces of wood, too.

Inflate balloons with different amounts air to make different sizes. Tape the balloons around the frame in a tree shape, occasionally mixing in a blue or seafoam balloon with the white ones. Smaller balloons should go nearer to the top, and larger ones should be more towards the bottom.

When all the balloons are secured, tape the snowflake cutouts to balloons at various points around the balloon tree.

Olaf Frozen Party Theme

Here’s just one of our new favorite ways to throw a Frozen birthday party, and it’s all about Olaf! The cuddly snowman who loves warm hugs is here to have fun. This theme can also be a great idea for a gender-neutral birthday party, as it plays up the Frozen atmosphere without going overboard on princess power.

We built up our Olaf party mostly with basic blue and white party supplies. As always, layers are the key! Try accenting with splashes of contrasting colors like orange, and pairing with natural wood textures. Pine cones and faux wood pieces from the craft store are a nice addition to the table. You can make some quick and crafty placemats and table runners from squares of brown paper and burlap fabric, too. 

This set of Olaf party supplies includes a plastic plate, a plastic cup, and a plastic bowl, all with adorable illustrations inspired by the movie. Not only are they great for giving the guest of honor an extra special experience, but they’re completely washable and reusable, unlike paper plates. Your child will love using them at snack times after the party, too!

It’s easy to turn any cupcake into an adorable Olaf! Snow some finely shredded coconut onto a white frosted cupcake, and add chocolate chip eyes. To make the nose, color some fondant or gum paste orange, and roll it into a cone shape with your fingers. Make some fingernail marks for texture, and add it to the finished snowman cupcake!

Olaf water bottles can be used as a fun way to serve juice and other drinks to party guests, or they can simply be party favors. Either way, every guest will get a great gift to take home with them. Other ideas for Frozen party favors include these super cool temporary tattoos along with whatever other trinkets and treats you can fit inside an Olaf pinata!

To make this DIY campfire decoration, start with a bunch of faux wooden twigs, or with some real ones from outside. Stick them into a Styrofoam disc, evenly spaced around the perimeter and angled so that they meet at the top as shown. (It doesn’t have to be perfect; you can always force it a little and hold them in place with hot glue.)

The “fire” itself is just a short string of battery powered white Christmas lights. Coil up the cord to give the decoration a little more volume. Finally, make some stones for the outside of the campfire with crumpled gray construction paper.

Decorate with your DIY campfire on its own as a centerpiece, or make one for this cardboard Olaf standup to enjoy!

What could make a better refreshment for a winter birthday party than a warm cup of hot cocoa? We just used simple pastel blue cups for ours, but those striped straws definitely add a nice touch. Don’t forget the extra large marshmallows!

Marshmallows can also be used to build a snowman – if you wanna build a snowman, that is. With printed cardstock and plastic baggies, create kits for every child that include different sized marshmallows and toothpicks to stick them together. Food coloring pens are an easy way to add decorations. It’s a party activity that doubles as a snack!

Kristoff’s snowball fight is definitely not edible, but it’s still a ton of fun. Crumpled white tissue paper, new white socks, or fluffy washcloths all make great indoor-safe substitutes for real snowballs. Set up a few targets and knock ’em down!

Frozen Birthday Party by Brittany Schwaigert

Frozen party plates make serving up snowflake cupcakes even more delectable, and we simply adore how these have been decorated! The toppers are from Edible Details and feature floral designs that match Anna and Elsa’s dresses. Who is your child’s favorite?

Brittany crafted these handmade paper rosettes to build a gorgeous, glittering backdrop for the party. Loving them! Plus, the Ice Castle birthday cake looks absolutely amazing amidst a sea of snowy white batting and sparkling blue-hued tulle.

For a snowy Frozen party, snowball snacks are a must, and powdered donut holes on plastic forks make for the cutest finger food you’ve ever seen! Brittany used an acrylic stand from the craft store to show them off, but another option could be to create a floral foam support disguised with batting. The forks are finished with a little rhinestone ribbon!

With some clear plastic cake stand pieces available at any cake store, you can build a dessert stand to rival Elsa’s castle itself! Brittany also suggests using lights or LEDs to make it glow.

This stunning fabric garland was created by Candace of Lilly Paul Designs. Whether hung along the front of the table or made to be a part of the backdrop, it provides the most amazing burst of color to make the party pop. The girls are sure to love it!

Blue and white Whirly Pops become the perfect treat for a Frozen party when embellished with snowflake cutouts – use a die-cutting machine to make your own, or find some in the scrapbooking section of the craft store! Also, purple goblets make ice cream fit for an Ice Queen.

Jenny at Craft That Party made these adorable hand-painted peg dolls. They look just like Anna and Elsa! Use them to complement your décor, or as cute party favors for the guests!

Purple snowflake cutouts make our blue shimmer gumballs look absolutely fantastic! The fondant castle is from Edible Details and makes for a magical finishing touch to the party scene!

Jenny’s party looked amazing, as usual. Pink, turquoise, and black made for a stunning and stylish color scheme. Chevron decorations and party supplies always give parties a nice pop, and we love the tissue paper balls on the table, too.

Black quatrefoil patterned plates also complement everything nicely, as did that decorative table garland from Piggy Bank Parties.

With varying shades of pink, black, and white fabrics, it tied the décor together gorgeously!

At birthday express we have tons of fantastic Halloween party supplies, and today we’re going to showcase two of our most popular themes:
Frightful Fun and Haunted Night!

Frightful Fun

Frightful Fun is great for younger kids, with adorable big-eyed ghosts and cartoon smiling spiders. It also heavily features the color green to offset the more traditional orange and black.

Start off with an orange tablecover, then add black spiderweb placemats, as well as supercute dinner and dessert plates.

Fold a napkin into thirds and insert plastic cutlery, then wrap the whole package in curling ribbon. These spider web cups get a little infusion of color when you add a pumpkin straw.

We made spiders out of construction paper and glued them to a classic cone paper party hat. Hope you don’t suffer from arachnophobia!

Even people who are scared of spiders will love this adorable eight-legged foil balloon!

For fun and tasty treats, try these ideas!

This cake is covered with spiders (and candy corn), but that doesn’t mean it’s not delicious!

These candy corn Rice Krispy treats are made by adding some yellow food coloring when mixing the ingredients together, then “painting” them with melted orange and white chocolate.

We wrapped mason jars in orange and green ribbon for a color coordinated look.

These cute little guys are made from a ball of cream cheese, rolled in shredded cheddar and skewered with pretzel rod antennas topped by candy googly eyes. Don’t forget the bat shaped pita chips for dipping!

For more treats, and even more color-coordination, we filled spider webbed treat bags with orange and green Sixlets chocolate candies.

As a finishing touch, we propped up this skeleton balloon as the popcorn gatekeeper. If you want some delicious popcorn, you’ve got to go through him first!

Haunted Night

Haunted Night is a more traditional theme, with orange and black heavily featured in the color scheme, along with shadowy silhouette designs.

This spider web tablecover perfectly matches the spider web cups, and these placemats were made by combining spiderwebs with silver circles.

The Haunted Night theme features festive plates and napkins. We also offer these super cute pumpkin honeycomb paper centerpieces.

Before we get to the delicious snacks, check out this classic jointed pumpkin banner, perfect to use as the feature item of your Halloween party decorations.

These “Bats” and “Eyeballs” aren’t really ingredients from a witch’s kitchen.  It’s just cream cheese and olive bruschetta and hard boiled eggs with olives and some creatively applied red food dye. Apple Cider Donuts make for a sweet treat palate cleanser after all those salty eyeballs.

These amazing Rice Krispy Treat pumpkins are made by simply adding some orange food dye to the melted marshmallows before mixing them with the Rice Krispies. A Tootsie Roll makes for a pretty accurate (and much better tasting) substitute pumpkin stem.

These store-bought cupcakes are dressed up for Halloween in spider web cupcake wrappers. They’re ready to party.

With our Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles party in a box, it’s easy to build the ultimate TMNT birthday party. Simply select the number of guests you’re expecting, and then adjust the amounts of each item to fit your needs. Basics like TMNT plates and napkins are included, as well as awesome extras like balloons and birthday banners.

These fun comic book cutouts come from our Superhero Comics cardboard standup cityscape. Not only does it provide a great city backdrop for the TMNT party, but it’s super easy to assemble and makes for great photo ops. The guest of honor will have a “shell of a time” posing in these TMNT hoodies, too. Currently, Raphael (red) and Leonardo (blue) are available – TMNT costumes for kids will take this party to the next level!

Green chevron paper lanterns were the perfect fit for this party. Jen gave them a little extra turtle power by adding paper TMNT masks to each one.

Every kids birthday party needs a table full of sweets! After all, it is a special occasion. Glass jars are a fun way to display green Sixlets and gumballs, and skewered rock candy sticks can be stuck inside as well. TMNT lunchboxes and water bottles can serve as table decorations as well as party favors.

These yummy CandyBobs were courtesy of Sweets From Heaven, and they fit alongside the rest of the green candy buffet. These two featured the TMNT logo and a silhouette of shredder…

…while these two featured the stenciled, smiling faces of the Turtles themselves – so cute!

Pizza erasers made the perfect TMNT party favor – if there’s one thing that Leo, Don, Mikey, and Raph love, it’s pizza!

No ninja is complete without his trusty shuriken, either. These fun foam throwing stars are fun to toss around, and are safe enough to play with indoors. Make a ninja training party game out of it: set up a pyramid of empty cans, cups, or bottles, and see who can knock down the most!

Our collection of TMNT party favors is topped off by black barrels of “slime” (they do live the sewer, after all), wind-up skateboards, and fun yo-yos. Every child can take home a couple of TMNT cookies, too!  Build your party favor assortment out of our pre-filled box, or fill empty boxes with your child’s favorites!

I have two little girls that just love to have tea parties. They also recently discovered Alice in Wonderland, right before a trip to Disney World. Then, once they met Alice there, they were hooked! We get the movie from our local library over and over again, and dressing up as the characters has become part of our daily routine. So, what better way for us to celebrate a birthday than with an extra special Alice in Wonderland themed tea party?

Alice in Wonderland Party Supplies and Decorations

To decorate for the party, we made the main attraction the tea party table. We used this “Topsy Turvy Tea Party ” which is one of the Alice in Wonderland party supplies themes from Birthday Express. The collection was just what we were looking for – a fun, bright, and happy tea party! I love all of the bold colors and they went along really well with an Alice in Wonderland theme.

For the table, I used a roll of pink and royal blue polka dot wrapping paper over the table cloth to really make it look fun and bright. It coordinated well with the Topsy Turvy Tea Party Placemats. I really like that Birthday Express offers placemats that go with the party themes, too. They make the table look great and the activities on the back help entertain the kids in between planned activities. We gave everyone a fancy feathery pen to do their activities, which made everything on the table look even more fabulous!

Party Favors

We filled our favor bags with some adorable Topsy Turvy Tea Party items from Birthday Express: Rubber Flower Rings, Sequin Feather Pens, Topsy Turvy Tea Party Stickers, pastel activity books and cupcake scented nail polish. I used plain favor bags and sealed them with some of the Topsy Turvy Stickers. They were simple, went well with the theme and the children enjoyed them.

Alice in Wonderland Birthday Party Activities

Tea Party

Of course our main activity was the tea party itself! For more details on what we served, check out the Alice in Wonderland party food ideas listed below.

Craft: Mad Hatter Hats

Everyone had fun making their own fancy Mad Hatter party hats!

Materials:

• Headband
• Paper cup
• Construction paper
• Glitter
• Crayons, markers, and other art supplies

• Stickers
• Glue or glue stick
• Hot glue gun (optional)
• Craft feathers
• Pipe cleaners

[/one_half_last]Directions:

Before the party, cut strips of paper that are as wide as the height of the paper cups, and long enough to wrap around the cup once. Also, cut circles about the size of a small paper plate (or use a paper plate as a template).

Let each child start creating their Mad Hatter hats by drawing designs on the paper strips and covering them with glitter and stickers. Next, have them glue the paper around the cup.

Decorate the paper circles next – these will become the brims of the hats. Use glue to attach each circle to a headband at a slight angle off of center. You may want to use hot glue or a few pieces of tape for this part, if you’re having trouble getting to stick with just regular glue.

Then, help the kids poke a small hole in the top of the paper cup with a large needle or darning needle. Stick colorful feathers and pipe cleaners in the hole to make the hat look even fancier and more silly!

Glue the cup upside-down to the paper circle on the headband. After the glue is dried, wear the hats to celebrate!

Nail Painting

We painted the girls’ nails while the hats were drying. We used the Cupcake Scented Nail Polish set from Birthday Express. It smelled festive and the colors matched the party colors really well.

Tea Pot Piñata

What would a party be without a pinata? We used the giant Green Teapot Pull-String Piñata from Birthday Express.

Alice in Wonderland Dress Up & Photos

To tie in the Alice in Wonderland theme, we played dress up and did some fun photos with accessories, costumes and props from Costume Express. This Alice in Wonderland costume was just too adorable!

We also had this White Rabbit hat, complete with fuzzy bunny ears…

… and I think the Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum hats were my favorite!

Alice in Wonderland Party Food Ideas

For the food, we served traditional tea party treats. We let the girls try a variety of herbal teas (decaf of course) and had things they could mix in like milk and honey. Then we also had tea pots of just water. Everyone enjoyed being able to “pour their own tea” like a grown up. To eat we had scones with butter and jelly. Again, they really enjoyed being able to make their own scones and add what they liked to them. We also had tea cookies and small tea sandwiches.

We had a wonderful time celebrating at our tea party. The Birthday Express Topsy Turvy Tea Party supplies made it look so fun and festive. The adorable Alice in Wonderland costumes were perfect for the birthday party theme and got everyone in the celebrating spirit. Everyone had fun and no one was “late for this very important date”!

A circus party is one of the classic themes for children’s birthdays. In fact, my own oldest son had a circus party for his 1st birthday. It is a theme that my clients request often! When these clients contacted me to do a circus party for their two-year-old little girl, we also talked about what other interests she had. When they mentioned that she loved Elmo, I suggested that we incorporate him into the party as well! What’s more fun than an Elmo Circus Party for a two-year old?  Luckily Birthday Express has everything you need to create an over-the-big-top Elmo circus party!

Because this party was at a neighborhood park, I couldn’t do any kind of backdrop. So, I started my table design with a balloon arch.

I made these cute oversized popcorn boxes from white science fair backdrops. I used four of them and cut the tops using a bowl as a guide to make them scalloped. Then, I taped two of them together and used red metallic wrapping paper to make them striped. My balloon artist then made the balloons look like popcorn going from one box to the other.

I used a red linen for the table and then added a piece of red and white striped fabric on the top. I displayed my treats on a variety of hat boxes in different sizes and shapes. I added embellishments to them using metallic paper, tickets, poms poms, stickers and tape. Each one was a little bit different, which made it really personalized for Kaitlyn.

We served a variety of fun treats at this party, including custom sugar cookies, red and blue glittered candy apples, Elmo chocolate suckers, these fabulous yellow and pink cotton candy pops, and whirly pops that I created with the birthday girl’s initial.

Putting Elmo’s face on the treats was a great way to incorporate him into the party theme.

I knew I had to have marquee lights with Kaitlyn’s name, so I picked these up at the craft store and customized them with gold glitter and assorted washi tapes.

Michelle at Ellery Designs created this awesome wooden Sesame Street sign for me, personalized with Kaitlyn’s name.

What an awesome keepsake for her! She can have this for years to come. It really made the perfect focal point to hang over the adorable cake by Mad Lily Cakery.

For the favors, I ordered these individual bags of candied popcorn and added a cute custom favor tag to each. I love that the bags are sealed, so the guests can enjoy them at a later time. I decorated the table with this huge Elmo piñata too.

Each guest table had a different centerpiece. One of them was a giant lollipop that I picked up in the Christmas section of the craft store and then embellished with tickets and pom poms…

…the second was circus signs that I made into an easy centerpiece using a hat box and dowels…

…and the third was a big circus tent piñata.

The best part is that this piñata can be used later as a party activity!

To keep the kids busy, we also had a face painter, pony rides, and a carousel bouncy house! And of course, what circus party is complete without a ticket booth?

This ticket booth is one of my favorite items on Birthday Express. It’s so easy to put together and it makes such a big impact to your party!

The key to our party design is that we replaced all the regular light bulbs with black lights.  It made all of the colors pop, especially the glow in the dark items.

Plates, cups, and napkins both match the theme and stand out in the black light.

We have neon colored clear plastic plates, cups and silverware that look fantastic under black light. This cutlery packet was made by folding a napkin and securing it with a strip of scrapbook paper and some curling ribbon. Then we slipped in a fork, spoon and knife and attached a glowstick to the ribbon.

Fill the cups with lemonade and you can get even more glow-in-the-dark fun!

For our buffet table decoration scheme, we included a neon jointed birthday banner, a neon table centerpiece, as well as mixing in a solid color pinata and a paper fan decorating kit. Find your own decorating additions in our huge selection at BirthdayExpress.

On our food buffet table, we set out tasty treats like these mini-brownie-cupcakes, with whipped cream and a cherry on top, as well as some healthy snacks like a veggie tray.  Neon colored bandanas were wrapped around vases containing rock candy sticks.

Here’s a close-up view of our Rice Krispies Treats, with fondant hearts and letters, cut out with a cookie cutter.

But we’re not done! These vanilla cupcakes are store-bought, with yellow icing and neon candles, wrapped in our black & white striped cupcake liners, and we displayed them on a bright orange cupcake stand.

This chocolate frosted cake has been drizzled with two different colors of neon icing. As cool-looking as it is delicious! Those amazing frosting sandwich cookies are created using confetti cake mix to make “cake cookies,” then adding strawberry frosting in between.

We washed out and recycled some old clear soda bottles and added different flavors of sports drink to make the colors of our beverages stand out against the background.

Finally, we took pieces of mini-flatbread and added cream cheese and diced fruit to make a healthy snack.

If you’re looking for balloons for your party, look no further than this great Glow in the Dark Party foil balloon, or these neon colored latex balloons.

These neon fedoras are a lot more stylish than plain old paper cone party hats, and can double as favors that the guests can take home.

For a fun party activity, get canvases from the craft store, and let the guests draw a pretty picture with glow-in-the-dark paint pens.  The possibilities are as limitless as their imaginations.

When the party’s over, and the candles have been blown out, and the presents have been opened, send your guests home with these awesome pre-filled favor boxes.

They come with a pair of neon shutter shades, a neon bracelet, a glow in the dark lollipop, and a glowstick.

And who doesn’t love glowsticks? These two sure do!

Sonic the Hedgehog is almost 25 years old! It seems like yesterday that my sister and I would play Sonic on our Sega! Being that we played it as kids, I was really excited to be able to bring this theme to life as a party. As I started brainstorming this theme, I was thinking about foods that you might be able to use as “golden rings.” If you have played Sonic, you know that Sonic collects gold rings in all his levels. It hit me that breakfast was the best part of the day to do food that is ring shaped!

I have always wanted to do a breakfast party. So many kids have sleepovers for their birthdays and how fun would it be to have them wake up to a fun breakfast with themed food and drinks? I think every kid would be delighted! I know I would!

I started this theme with these fun Sonic themed party products from Birthday Express.

This Sonic Boom theme is a brand new collection to coincide with the new version of the game. I kept the décor minimal by taking one of the vinyl wall decals and putting it directly onto the wall behind a 4 foot table.

Then, to bring in more of the “golden rings” I cut two large pool noodles into slices. Then, I strung them all together with fishing line and a large needle and I hung them from a dowel. It’s an easy and inexpensive project that has a big impact at your party!

Now, back to the food!

How many breakfast foods can you name that are shaped in a circle?  Donuts, Cheerios, bagels, the list goes on and on! If you want to really keep going with this theme, you could even add pancakes and cut circles out of the middles of them!

I knew instead of a cake, I wanted to do a stack of donuts.

I picked up these glazed ones and displayed them on a blue stand.

Then, I added blueberry muffins in these cute little yellow chevron liners.

I added a yellow wooden star with some hot glue, just to dress it up a little bit.

On the opposite side, I had to include Cheerios!

I chose Honey Nut Cheerios for the real gold color. I got these cute little blue chevron cups at a discount store and I added some stickers from the party collection to give them a little extra Sonic feel.

You have to have milk with your cereal and juice with your breakfast!

So, I found these cute little half-gallon jugs and filled them with the breakfast beverages.

For the final touch, I had to make some little donut hedgehogs.

So, I bought these donut holes and then blue candy melts, blue candy shred, and some black decorating gel. This is such an easy DIY. All you do is melt the candy melts in the microwave, dip the donut holes and while they are still wet sprinkle them with the candy shred. After they dry, you simply add eyes with the gel.

I found these gold gumdrop candy rings at a discount store and displayed the little hedgehogs on them.

I love this breakfast party and I think your little guy would love it for his next sleepover too!

This variation on the classic paper cone party hat is actually a breeze to make.  We used these lime green cone hats and orange construction paper to match the colors of the theme design, but you can use your child’s favorite colors or any others you like.  Just cut some triangles out of the construction paper and hot glue or tape onto the cone hat to mimic a dinosaur’s spiny scales.

Every party needs balloons, and we’ve got you covered there, too.

And now we come to everybody’s favorite part of the party–the treats!

Don’t be fooled; that’s not actually a chocolate cake.  It’s a circle of styrofoam from the craft store, spray painted brown.  It serves as a nice base for the orange rock candy sticks and the gummi dinosaur kabobs. As a side note, all of the foliage you see in the pictures is just faux plastic plants, which you can also get at your local craft store.  They make great accent decorations for a dinosaur party, and can be re-used in different party themes and projects.  They’re a great thing to have around the house, just in case you need to create an impromptu forest for any reason.

As you can see, we love using these little plastic dinosaurs as all purpose accents for decorations and food displays.  Which can be confusing, because they are very inedible. However, what they lack in digestibility they more than make up for in bright colors and cuteness.

A stegosaurus stands guard over these open face dino sandwiches. The ingredients are just wheat bread, lettuce and deli meat, and the shapes are made with a simple cookie cutter. They’re so easy to make, and as an added bonus, they have a little something for both the carnivores and the herbivores at the party!

This pterodactyl is the perfect complement to our delicious lava cakes–Just two brownie bites stacked on top of each other, secured with a dab of frosting, and drizzled with a red and yellow glaze.  And the best part is, unlike real lava cakes, ours won’t melt your face off!

To tie the whole party design together, consider adding dinosaur inflatables or this giant cardboard T-Rex stand-up.

It’s over five feet tall and serves not only as a great back drop, but also as a conversation set piece and a focal point for the entire party.  The guests can pose for photos with T-Rex, and you can print them out and send them with your Thank You notes as a great keepsake.

Kids of all ages love a photo booth party! Photo booths have been trending for several years in the party world and they seem to be only gaining popularity lately! If you are looking for a fun activity for kids – and adults – at your upcoming party, a photo booth is a great addition. The best part is that it’s really easy, and the kids can keep coming back again and again for new poses and new fun. All kids love making funny faces and posing for the camera!

And now, Birthday Express is making it SO EASY to create your own photo booth at home!

All you do is pick the theme you like, and they send you everything you need to create an adorable photo booth at your next party. How fun and easy is that?  Included in the kits are backdrop materials, photo stand-ins, cut-out additions for your backdrops, wooden dowels to create signs and props with, and even three-dimensional props and costumes for your kids to wear! You can also customize the amounts of items in the box for parties large and small.

There are 12 different themes for you to choose from, and every one of them comes with all the supplies you need to make it look awesome! I picked two different themes, construction and pirates, because I knew that my boys would love both. There are themes for girls, for boys, and for both! The themes coordinate with all the Birthday Express party supplies, too.

The construction party kit comes with hardhats, sunglasses, and precious orange vests. I created my backdrop by using that faux-wood vinyl wall covering and then adding some caution tape and some of the cute road signs.   We tried doing our best “Stop” faces and serious construction work poses. My big guy even posed with his iPad so that it looked like he was doing some important construction business!

The pirate kit comes with eye patches (one in pink!), bandanas, hoop earrings, telescopes, inflatable swords, and fun masks! I used the vinyl wall covering that looks like sand and then put up a pirate flag and a treasure map for our backdrop. The kids loved making their best “argggghhh!” faces for the camera! Some of their faces were pretty intense!

We had a blast trying on all the props and posing! My husband and I did a few shots too.

It’s pretty hard to resist putting on an eye patch and a bandanna because they are just so cute!

Our St. Bernard puppy, Coco, even got in on the action! She’s a pretty great poser too!

The kids could hardly decide which props they wanted to use because there were so many fun ones! And the kids can keep all the props for dress-up later!

You also get these great picture stand-ins, so the kids can pose right in the scene!

Seeing the kids ham it up for the camera is really fun and makes for awesome keepsakes from your party.  You will absolutely love this kit and it will make your next party so much fun!

I had so much fun with this party. I love Lego building blocks and I really got to play with them for this party and use them in fun, new ways! Birthday Express recently debuted this fun, new building blocks collection, inspired by Lego, that would appeal to boys and girls alike. These primary colors can be used for the smallest of kids, all the way up to pre-teens, to put together a fantastic Lego party.

There is so much party inspiration out there online for Lego inspired parties. They are such a classic toy and most every boy will want a building block inspired party at some point! I started this party design by creating my own giant blocks out of large pieces of cardboard.

If you don’t have access to any large pieces of cardboard, you can do what I did and use large white science-fair backdrops that you can pick up at most craft stores and big box stores. I use them all the time for large-scale projects! I cut them into 18” squares and 36×18” rectangles, so they would “fit” together. I painted them with simple tempera paint and added solid colored paper plates (dessert sized) to make them look like blocks. I simply hot-glued the plates directly onto the cardboard. Then, I punched holes in the tops and tied them together using zip ties. I hung them from my backdrop that I made from PVC pipe, but you can hang them from pretty much anything, even a nail in the wall.

I used the plastic table cloth from this collection, but I pulled it forward a little bit so that the lighter part was on the front of the table and I added this foam block banner that I picked up at a big box store.

I had a little fun with my displays for this Lego party. Instead of using a typical riser for my cake stand, I took a big cylindrical vase and filled it with actual blocks from my kids’ collection.

Then, I turned it upside down and put my cake on top of it. This is one of my favorite tips. I often use my kid’s toys in parties! They are great for props!

The cake was a simple store-bought white cake that already had the perfect primary colored sprinkles.

I added these awesome fondant Lego blocks from my friend Brittany at Edible Details. It’s amazing how cute you can make a store bought cake look with some fun fondant details!

I also added white cupcakes and also topped them with the fondant blocks.

Then, I displayed them in a fun way, using these plastic cups from the collection as risers.

For the other yummy food, I made these cute little Lego blocks out of Rice Krispie treats.

These are pre-made krispie treats that I dipped into melting candies and then added chocolate candies for the details. They are SO easy!

I also added some push pops filled with Sixlets, and some flavored popcorn.

I took these simple yellow popcorn boxes and added block stickers to tie them in with the theme. Instead of using a dessert stand, I displayed them on big blocks. I added whirly pops into the popcorn for a cute display.

I hot-glued the cupcake toppers from the collection onto the front of the whirly pops as well.

Everyone knows that kids of all ages love SpongeBob, but did you know that ever since its heyday, 40 percent of the show’s viewers are adults?  Who are we kidding, OF COURSE you knew that.  You’re probably one of those adults who watch the show, or maybe at least you used to. Hey, your kids have to have gotten it from somewhere, right? And your kids love Spongebob, almost as much as Mr. Krabs loves money.  So if you don’t want the birthday boy or girl to be as grouchy as Squidward on their special day, you need to throw the best Spongebob party this side of Bikini Bottom.  And we’re here to help you pull it off.

SpongeBob Squarepants Tableware Party Supplies

To turn your table into a Bikini Bottom beach bash, start with this great tablecover.

Then add plates, cups and napkins.

As an alternative, and with a little added effort, you can make your own SpongeBob Origami Napkins:

Just get some napkins in yellow and brown. Fold yellow napkins lengthwise into thirds, tucking the edges in the back. Place a yellow plastic fork and spoon on top. Cut the brown napkins in half and then wrap it, folded, around the yellow napkin and secure with tape in back. Cut some small red triangles from red construction paper and tape to the top center of the brown folded piece to create SpongeBob’s “tie.” How cute is that?

For these palm tree straws, you can use these yellow polka dot straws, or any others you happen to have. Take some green construction or scrapbook paper, and using jagged edge craft scissors (you can get these at your local craft store), cut out several palm leaf shapes, four leaves for each straw. Make one edge of the palm leaves taper off into a thin line. Bend the edge of the thin line and tape each leaf individually to the straw, near the top. If you want to go the extra mile, you could glue a couple malted milk balls on there as coconuts.

SpongeBob Squarepants Party Favors

Send the guests home happy with our wide variety of party favors–from sticker activity books, to blowout noisemakers, to paddle balls, to temporary tattoos!

SpongeBob Squarepants Decorations and Activities

If you’d rather not go for our giant fruit platter centerpiece (including a pineapple house), you can opt instead for this SpongeBob table decorating kit.

SpongeBob Squarepants Party Food Ideas

Multi-colored, different flavored Goldfish crackers are always a huge hit with kids, and they match the undersea theme. Broccoli florets might not be as popular among the little ones, but what if you call them Sea Anemones? (You’re right, that wouldn’t fool anyone.)

But how about the beach scene up there on the left?  The “sand” is just brown sugar, and the seashells are novelty candies and simple sugar cookies that you might find at your local bakery.
It’s kind of half snack, half decoration.

But if you want a real foodie work of art, you can make your own Krabby Patty KupKakes. Here’s a closeup:

Aren’t they gorgeous? First you need an equal number of unfrosted vanilla and chocolate cupcakes.  Cut them all in half. You will also need squeezable tubes of green, yellow and red frosting.
Assemble the glorious sweetness tower as shown from the bottom up:  Bottom half of a vanilla cupcake (bottom burger bun), then green frosting (for the lettuce), then the bottom half of a chocolate cupcake (for the burger patty), then red and yellow frosting (for ketchup and mustard), then the top half of a vanilla cupcake (top burger bun). The frosting should hold everything together pretty well. You will have a lot of top halves of chocolate cupcakes left over, but we think you can find a use for them.

Today, we’re showing off another Shopkins birthday party of our own creation. Keep on reading to get more Shopkins party ideas and inspiration!

Shopkins Party Supplies and Tableware Ideas

Our Shopkins plates and party supplies are every bit as fun and friendly as the Shopkins themselves. Apple Blossom, Strawberry Kiss, D’Lish Donut and other Shopkins characters cover these colorful designs edge-to-edge, making them must-haves for any Shopkins fan on their special day. Add even more variety to your child’s Shopkins party look by mixing and matching Shopkins cups and napkins with simple patterns and solid color party supplies. Pinks, purples, yellows, and pastels work wonders with Shopkins.

Also, to make your party supplies look even better, pair them with a matching table cover. Different shades of plastic tablecloths can be overlayed on top of each other to create a unique look, and you can even use pieces of coordinating gift wrap or fabric to add more style to your table.

For the Shopkins theme, we used a basic pink tablecover accented with some hot pink polka dot print.

Here’s an easy way to turn paper napkins and plastic silverware into an attractive part of your party décor. Roll purple or lavender forks, knives, and spoons into Shopkins napkins, and stuff the bundles upright into a mini metal bucket.

Then, decorate the bucket with some curling ribbon and a couple of paper cutouts or Shopkins stickers – this is something that your child can have fun helping with, too. If you like, you can also use Shopkins stickers and wall decals to hold the napkin rolls closed.

This works especially nicely for displaying the tableware bundles individually at each table setting. Otherwise, a twist of lavender curling ribbon or a small piece of Scotch tape works just as well.

Shopkins Party Favors

Shopkins party favors can double as centerpieces, too. These pre-filled favor boxes match the theme beautifully and include everything from sweet treats like these swirly lollipops to other goodies like these cupcake lip glosses.

Shopkins Birthday Party Decorating Ideas

For the backdrop to our Shopkins party, we used a pink chevron birthday banner. These banners are made of heavy duty vinyl – not paper or plastic – with real metal grommets, and are guaranteed to stay in great shape. Plus, you can customize the print with your child’s name and unique birthday message. A colorful pennant banner hung along the top is a great complement to the look.

Shopkins Piñatas

We also couldn’t resist adding a giant cupcake piñata into the mix – what could be sweeter? The Cupcake Queen herself would be proud.

This particular one is a pull-string piñata. Pull-string piñatas are especially great for younger children, because the piñata is pulled open by the ribbons on its bottom. One of them is connected to the flap that will spill forth the candy inside, and the child that pulls it is the winner! No need for whacking and wailing and flailing around.

A traditional piñata in this design is available too, with blindfold, stick, sweets, and all the other essentials already included.

Shopkins Birthday Party Food Ideas

Every birthday party needs a sweet treat to enjoy, and these Shopkins cookies are easy enough for anyone to decorate – set up a cookie decorating activity station and let the guests get involved!

Start with a chocolate chip cookie, just like Kooky Cookie. The eyes are made from stacked circle cut-outs of white and baby blue fondant, with two smaller black and white circles on top for the pupils. To get the crescent shape for the eyes, partially intersect another small circle along the bottom edge. Make a mouth with a line of decorator’s frosting, and you’re all set.

For a healthier snack option that the kids are sure to love, popcorn is the way to go. You can use your favorite microwave brand, or pop some seeds on the stovetop. We used those classic red and white popcorn boxes to make our servings look like Poppy Corn, and we also stationed some actual Shopkins toys around the snack table for good measure.

A basket of fresh fruit is another healthy snack that’s also plenty sweet. Plus, it brings a lot of color to the table as well.  Also, those might look like soft-serve ice cream cones, but they’re really frosted cupcakes!

To make your own cupcake cones, fill flat-bottomed ice cream cones three-quarters of the way full with your child’s favorite cake batter, and bake as you normally would. To make sure that the cones don’t fall over in your oven, stand them up in the holes of a regular cupcake tin, using some scrunched up aluminum foil to fill in the gaps.

Once they’ve cooked and cooled, pipe a big swirl of colorful icing on top and add some sprinkles. A pink colored cone with chocolate frosting and blue sprinkles looks just like Ice-Cream Dream, and you can also serve up some real ice cream cones, too, to represent Kylie Cone.

Of course, you’ll need a cold glass of milk to wash everything down! The milk doesn’t have to be strawberry-flavored, but the color just looked so cute alongside everything else. Your child’s favorite will look just as yummy, too. Hot pink paper cutout eyelashes on a glass pitcher add a ton of Shopkins charm, and lavender striped straws complement the color scheme.

Shopkins Birthday Cake Ideas

Wishes is the birthday cake Shopkin – the perfect name for a birthday cake, and the perfect cake idea for a Shopkins birthday!

To decorate this Shopkins cake, begin with a round layer cake.  Frost with vanilla frosting, dyed yellow with food coloring. Pipe some white icing onto the top of the cake, creating a few tall swirls as you go. Cut the eyelash shapes from a small piece of black fondant, and use pink fondant for the mouth. Add birthday candles, and there you have it!

We’ve used blue placemats and a bright red tablecover on our dining table to make the colors pop in our party design. Extra solid color party supplies can be a great addition to any party theme, but we also have a fantastic Curious George tablecover, covered with this darling print.

Top your tablecover with plates, napkins, and paper cups. Or you could do what we did, and get these super-cute cupcake keepsake straw cups!

Make these Big Yellow Hat napkin and cutlery pockets by cutting shapes from yellow and brown scrapbook paper. Glue them to a placemat, but not entirely. The idea is to leave an opening big enough to insert a folded napkin and a fork and spoon.

These classic cone party hats are cute enough on their own, but a little DIY touch makes them downright adorable. Cut out half circles of brown and tan scrapbook paper, glue them together, and tape them to the party hat, giving all your guests a pair of their very own Monkey Ears!

To add a couple more monkeys to the party’s guest list, consider inviting these two adorable apes. Our Curious George pinata makes for a great decoration as well as a classic party activity, and this cute inflatable monkey will be a huge hit with all the kids.

We decided to add a little stuffed friend to our guests’ Curious George party favor boxes for them to take home as a souvenir. Included inside the favor box is an even littler friend, but as you can see, he’s no less adorable!

And now we come to everyone’s favorite portion of the festivities: The delicious food and snacks!  Try out some of these recipes, or tweak them to add your own flair.

We frosted the cake with vanilla icing and used a spatula to help press sprinkles around the bottom of the cake. Then, we mixed light yellow food coloring with the frosting, and piped swirls of banana colored frosting on top of the cake, inserted candles and topped them with more sprinkles. (When in doubt, add more sprinkles!) We added banana cookies and a DIY sign to the top, made out of a red polka dot straw, some craft paper cut with squiggly edged scissors, and some scrapbook letter stickers. The sides of the cake were decorated using small sheets of fondant from the craft store that we shaped using cookie cutters, and we “glued” them to the cake with more frosting.

These sugar cookies are decorated with more of that same fondant, secured with a dollop of frosting. Don’t they look yummy?

These are just store bought vanilla cupcakes (with some more added sprinkles!), but we dressed them up in red polka dot cupake wrappers to make them pop.

These scrumptious Nilla Wafer cookies are made with vanilla frosting and, of course, sprinkles!

And finally, at a party with a monkey theme, you’ve got to have Peanut Butter and Banana sandwiches!  Though you could also use almond butter, Nutella, or honey. The possibilities are as limitless as George’s curiosity!

Before we end this post, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention this utterly adorable Curious George costume!  Beware though, your little one might just love it so much, they’ll want to wear it everywhere!

And speaking of things that are perfectly piggy …

We turned one of our simple pink paper lanterns into a Peppa Pig face that will have all the guests oinking with delight! The ears and nose are cut out of scrapbook paper, and we found the googly eyes at the local craft store. We used a hot glue to attach them all to the paper lantern, but you could use some strong double-sided tape instead, if you prefer.

We’ve got all kinds of pinkish paper lanterns for your porcine transformation needs!

These darling pink gingham favor boxes are filled with great toys and treats, ready for the guests to take home and enjoy. We added the baby blue party hats ourselves. They’re just scrapbook paper and poof balls from the craft store, and the designs are drawn on with a paint marker.

Or you could choose to use these treat bags, which we dressed up with these scalloped labels that we stuck to some scrapbook paper flower shapes. Then we tied it all together with some baby blue curling ribbon.
Adorable.

And now for the part of the party that all piggies love best — the snacks!
But don’t worry, we’ve got some healthy treats to go along with the sweets.

Get ready for a cake that’s almost too beautiful to eat!

The sides are covered in bright blue icing, the color of the sky.  The top of the cake is all in white, to make the clouds.  The rolling hills are made by green Sixlets candies, and the sun and flowers were cut from sheets of fondant. It’s definitely as tasty as it is beautiful, though, so we won’t blame you if you choose to indulge!

These watermelon pops are healthy and delicious. Simply use a kitchen knife to cut a slit in the outer rind of each slice, then insert an oversize popsicle stick. You can get these at the craft store.

One thing that Peppa loves to do is splash around in Muddy Puddles! So we decided to made some muddy puddles of our own–they’re just mason jars full of chocolate pudding with some crushed Oreos on top.

Now these are really special.  Oh, they may start as just run-of-the-mill vanilla cupcakes with pink frosting, but when you add black Sixlets for the eyes, and pink marshmallows for the nose and ears, then they become Peppa Pig cupcakes!

Hi Neighbor!

“Ugga Mugga” to all our Daniel Tiger fans out there! We love this brightly colored, animated program for preschoolers based on the PBS Series Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood! The show focuses on important lessons like social skills, counting, good manners, and eating healthy. Our dessert table is full of healthy alternatives to traditional sweets. Just take a look at our party menu!

Baker Aker baked us some banana bread muffins in these bright red polka dot cupcake liners and topped with adorable character toppers from Shop Fluff.

To create my backdrop, I wrapped my large foam board (bought at an art store) with blue wrapping paper. I then attached Daniel Tiger wall decals on top of my wrapping paper. This creates a dramatic backdrop for our dessert table and takes less than 5 minutes to make!

Apples, apples, everywhere! I added Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood plastic rings to store-bought candy apples to create a custom dessert for our table. I also filled a wood crate with fresh apples.

O the Owl and Katerina Kat agree that mini apples pies are perfect for fall parties!

I added festive red flags picks in each mini pie to continue the use of bright colors throughout the party.

Miss Elaina, O the Owl, Daniel Tiger, Prince Wednesday, and Katerina Kitty Kat are all here to join in the fun!

Every party needs a photo opportunity! The Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood party collection has one of the best photo booths I have ever seen, a Trolley that is 3.5 feet tall!

Just stick a small stool behind the cardboard cut out and kids can have a ball waving out the Trolley window!  Make sure to get your Ugga Mugga taken before you leave!

Treat your guests to these adorable trolley favor boxes filled with goodies such as crayons, mini notepads, rings, stickers, and bouncy balls!

For starters, to help your wizard of honor get into character, consider outfitting your little wizard in a Harry Potter costume! To set the scene for our Harry Potter inspired Wizard School, we used two of these very cool stone columns and an awesome vinyl birthday banner.

One fun touch to help turn your dining room into the banquet hall of Hogwarts is to get these jeweled goblets as beverage cups.

These Harry Potter glasses are cut out of our black placemats, and these mini-Hedwigs are made from scrapbook paper and a couple of googly eyes. They make great DIY additions to your Wizard School tableware.

Before we get into all these delicious Harry Potter inspired treats and snacks, first consider getting the birthday wizard a personalized vinyl birthday banner.

These Harry Potter cupcakes are topped with glasses cut from a sheet of craft store fondant, and nestled in these horizontal striped cupcake wrappers.

These Quidditch Brooms are made with pretzel sticks and fringed cheese slices attached with a dollop of cream cheese and a strip of wheat tortilla.

Your Quidditch team’s Seeker can take the day off! We’ve got the Golden Snitch right here, in the form of cake pops rolled in melted caramel candy melts and then dusted with gold sugar sprinkles. The “wings” are made of fondant, found in the baking aisle of the local craft store.

These Sorting Hat snacks are made with circles of wheat bread cut out with a cookie cutter, sandwiched around slices of lunch meat and cheese.  The cones on top are rolls of wheat tortilla and they are tied with a string of red vine licorice.

As everyone knows, the ingenious Weasley brothers invented Fever Fudge to get out of going to class. Our recipe won’t make you run a temperature, but it sure is tasty! It’s made from peppermint fudge, with mini red hot candies added before the fudge has had time to fully set.

These little mini-Hedwigs are just Babybel cheeses with a notch cut out to create an owl’s head. We used the removed cheese to make the beak and little candy eyes from the local craft store.  Adorable!

Pumpkin Juice is the beverage of choice for young wizards everywhere. We substituted Peach Mango juice for the real stuff. It tastes better.

Can’t have a Harry Potter party without Bertie Bott’s Jelly Beans!

Any party without a pinata just can’t be considered magical. Lucky for your little wizards we have this dragon pinata, and instead of breathing fire, it drops candy!

If you’re looking for Harry Potter themed balloons, we have a foil star balloon featuring Harry playing Quidditch and one featuring the all-important Sorting Hat!

This stuffed Hedwig decoration is perfect for side tables or as a centerpiece. Plus, it can go in the birthday Wizard’s room when the party is finished! A little gold paint on some old books from a flea market turns them into books of spells, and some lemonade in a curved vase becomes a magic potion pretty easily!
