Just a quick reminder that this Saturday we’re having Bits & Pixels at Foreshore Park (thanks Joel outside of Customs House. So remember to bring your own meat, sauce, onions, sausages, cooking utensils, knives, forks, plates, salad, chips, booze, chairs, balls, cricket sets, blankets and whatever else you think you might need.

If you weren’t there last month, the vote was unanimous - we should have a special Bits and Pixels in the park. This means snags, booze, cricket, soccer and whatever else we feel like doing.

B&P Xmas 2008

The last Bits & Pixels of 2008 will be this Saturday the 20th, and this time, just to mix things up a bit, we’ve decided to have it at Customs House. The Grand is getting a bit tired we reckon, so we’ll give Customs House a go this time, and will likely make it the B&P local for 2009.

As usual, we’re on at 2pm, and this year there will be food! Huzzah!

We had a lively discussion about the future of B&P recently, so please come along and continue the conversation this weekend.

See you then.

While Bits & Pixels has been great, it’s really not progressed since it’s inception 12 months ago. We’ve had many discussions about improving it along the way, but that third Saturday comes around each month and we’ve had exactly zero time to put anything into it.

Don’t be alarmed Bits & Pixels is here to stay, but it’s just getting a little stagnant is all. That’s where you come in!

Let me start by saying we created a new record for the most number of attendees to a Bits & Pixels meetup last month with a total of 14 people from 7 different Newcastle Web design & development companies. Not bad! So thanks to everyone who made the effort to come along and especially those first-timers.

The afternoon started with some very casual introductions of the first-time guests and an overview of what the Bits & Pixels meetup is meant to achieve. I’m pretty sure everyone understood the casual aspect as there wasn’t an empty glass on the table. As a result, before the end of all the ‘official’ introductions, people were already discussing with the people next to them what they did, who they worked for and what they were interested in.

OK. So since we still don’t have a proper blog of our own just yet, where else are we supposed to talk ourselves up other than here? Nowhere that’s right.

For those of you who haven’t had the good fortune of meeting me yet, I’m Waydo – the man responsible for all that is pretty at Newism.

Just a reminder that Bits & Pixels is on again this Saturday, but this time there’ll be an amazing new twist – we’ve got an agenda (of sorts)! That means that we’ll actually be talking about a particular topic, rather than regurgitating everything we’ve read on Digg in the last 5 minutes.
