{Chat Support} How do I enroll people in my CourseSites courses?

There are three methods:

1 - From within your course, click Control Panel> Users and Groups> Course Invitations. There you can invite students and other instructors. They click the link in the email, and either enroll using an existing account, or create a new account with which to enroll.

2 - If you want self-initiated enrollment, send people to your home page (that you named when you created your account). There they can request enrollment. You have to process those requests at Control Panel> Users and Groups> Course Invitations>Manage Pending Enrollment Requests. You may accept or reject their requests here..

3 - If you prefer to use the Bulk Create Student Accounts method, do the following:

a - First, you need to create a text file in the csv format (Comma Separated Value). This can be done in most spreadsheets. One row for each student. In each row, you enter:
- a student first name
- b student last name
- c student email (optional)

b - Save the file as type .CSV. Make sure each line is formatted:
FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME, EMAIL. Please include only one record per line. Email address is not required.

c - Account usernames and passwords will be randomly generated later.

d - You go into your course as an instructor

e - You go to Course Invitations under Users and Groups, which is in the Control Panel. Click the link there: Create Student Accounts

f - You browse to the CSV file, created above, by clicking the Choose File button.

g - Click submit

h - Near the top of the screen, you have a choice of printing and/or exporting this information. PLEASE do one or both; once you leave this page, it is quite time-consuming to reproduce this information.

{Chat Support} Let me share some cost-free resources which may prove helpful to you, in addition to
the support we provide. First, we've recently introduced a new, searchable user manual, at
http://help.blackboard.com . Go there, and click either Instructor or Student, and do a key word
search. The results are usually well-labeled, and well-written. It does not address the
special features of CourseSites, but it does address the software upon which it was built.

This is also true of the next resource. It is the "On Demand Learning Center". This is a
series of short, well-focused tutorial videos on the major functions of Blackboard. You can
go there at this address: http://ondemand.blackboard.com/

Finally, another option is to watch the tutorials for CourseSites - a series of YouTube

Another hint, just for instructors: We suggest that any instructor have two accounts - an instructor account with which to edit your courses, and a student account to see what it will look like. Turning editing off comes close to what students see, but not exactly. For example, only students can take an exam.

One thing - if both are open in the same web browsing program (like in two tabs or windows of IE or Firefox), they mush together. But if they are in separate programs (like one in Internet Explorer or Safari, and the other in Firefox), it works great.

Title Proctored versus non-proctored: How does assessment setting affect student achievement on web-based assessments?

Description:

Armed with an honor code and good intentions, institutions continue evaluate technologies and assessment protocols to improve academic outcomes and protect academic integrity. As technology evolves, the ability to deliver educational content and assessments also continues to change.

It is within this dynamic context that the current study attempted to examine the efficacy and impact of current online testing technologies and protocols for proctored F2FE and non-proctored ODE online assessments in a graduate pharmacy program. This study attempted to determine if the assessment setting, proctored in F2FE or un-proctored in an ODE setting, impacted student achievement. In this discussion, we will review the findings of the study and explore how the setting in which students take tests impacts student achievement. We’ll also talk about general concerns relating to the prevention of cheating and discuss solutions..

FACTORS INFLUENCING SOCIAL PRESENCE IN AN ONLINE INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY MODULE

This study investigates the social presence of students participating in an online instructional technology module. Two main research questions are utilized for this study: 1) How does social presence online differ between undergraduate and graduate students in a problem-based, online learning environment? and 2) How does social presence relate to student perceptions of course satisfaction, ICT self-efficacy, social interaction, motivation, or group cohesion in an online ICT module? A short survey is administered to 41 students enrolled in instructional technology courses at a Mid Atlantic university. The survey instrument addresses three student perception domains: 1) course satisfaction; 2) motivation; and 3) group cohesion. Information and communication technology self efficacy was determined through the administration of a 25 item instrument which addressed student perceptions of their ability in five domains including: 1) text; 2) numeracy; 3) images; 4) sound; and 5) video. Data are gathered in an undergraduate and a graduate-level instructional technology courses.

This code (Copy and Paste from YOU TUBE works as long as the video is up. The point of being able to pull down and/or convert the file is to make it more flexible for you i.e., you can save it to a USB drive, you can convert it to a wmv and drop it in a PowerPoint etc. I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to loop the file above and will report back. Using the benderconverter I can save the file and upload it to my Youtube account.
It is on my computer now (through the miracle of the benderconverter) as a .wmv file.

Looping is different story. The clip above is not cooperating with me and I will look at it again tonight.

I know that a lot of you mentioned that you add " &loop=1 " to the code. However, I found that there is one more step. You must replace the " Embed " part with " v "

For example, my original embed code was:

Jing allows video capture as well as image capture. The output format is .swf - a Flash video file. Being able to capture images and video is important in that you can incorporate items from your screen into a variety of documents including word processing docs, web pages, and presentations. I wanted to show how to set the default program for a computer.
