New Movie of X men Series is Coming in 2014. The name and the story has been announced. It will be named "Deadpool Origin".
From the name you can guess that the movie will be on the story of the Origin of Deadpool.

The Trailer has not been released yet.

Deion Sanders' estranged wife denies that she broke into his room in their Dallas-area home and attacked him in front of their children. Pilar Sanders was arrested Monday on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. She was released Tuesday and said she is innocent and that she's not being treated fairly because her husband is a Hall of Famer who played for the Dallas Cowboys.
Authorities haven't released details about the alleged attack. But Deion Sanders tweeted Monday that his children "just witnessed their mother and a friend jump me in my room."
Sanders filed for divorce in December. KTVT-TV reports that a judge ordered Pilar Sanders to stay away from the couple's home for 60 days.
The couple starred in an Oxygen network series, "Deion & Pilar: Prime Time Love."

A rare and pristine copy of the first issue of Action Comics, famed for the first appearance of Superman, has set a record Wednesday for the most money paid for a single comic book: $2.16 million.
It�s the first time a comic book has broken the $2 million barrier. The issue was published in 1938 and cost just 10 cents.
�When we broke the record in 2010 by selling the Action Comics No. 1, graded at 8.5, for $1.5 million, I truly believed that this was a record that would stand for many years to come,� said Stephen Fishler, CEO of ComicConnect.com and Metropolis Collectibles.
The previous record set in March 2010 was followed by the sale of another copy for $1 million. But neither of those issues was in as good a condition as the issue that sold Wednesday, though it�s pedigree of setting records was already documented. Twice before it set the record for the most expensive book ever, selling for $86,000 in 1992 and $150,000 in 1997.

But in 2000, it was stolen and thought lost until it was recovered in a storage shed in California in April this year.

Jon Jones is slated to defend his UFC light heavyweight championship against former teammate Rashad Evans at UFC 145 on Saturday night in Atlanta. But prior to the fight, Jones, Evans, and the rest of the UFC 145 roster stepped on the scale at the weigh-ins on Friday afternoon.
Both having fought in their fair share of title fights, Jones and Evans both came in on point. Jones stepped on the scale at 205 pounds, while Evans tipped the scale at 204 pounds.
�It�s been a bit different because of the media and everything, but at the same time, I enjoyed the process,� Evans told UFC broadcaster Joe Rogan after an intense face-off with Jones. �It is a lot of emotion involved, but at the same time, I�m looking forward to stepping in the cage to fight Jones.�
�It�s a gigantic fight. I�m excited to be here, baby,� stated Jones, before proclaiming, �I�m ready to tear some heart out.�
With the spotlight white-hot on the main event, there are some solid feature fights sneaking in under the radar.
Top welterweight Rory MacDonald returns to face off with Che Mills, and heavyweights Brendan Schaub and Ben Rothwell will square off in support of the main event.
Neither MacDonald nor Mills had trouble making weight, while Schaub gave up 26 pounds to Rothwell, weighing in at 237 pounds to Rothwell�s 263.

It�s not the way he would have preferred to get back in the lineup, but Michael Frolik took advantage of rookie Andrew Shaw�s suspension to gain playing time. The veteran winger replaced Shaw, who was exiled for three games for a hit on Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith during Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals Saturday, when the teams squared off in the third game of the series Tuesday night at the United Center.

Frolik, who was a scratch the first two games, scored the Hawks� third-period goal Tuesday night, temporarily putting them ahead 2-1. It was his first goal since Dec. 14.
�Everybody wants to play,� Frolik said before the game. �I want to be in, (but) it�s not nice (that I would) want a guy suspended or injured. I�m a team guy.�
Frolik viewed the opportunity to contribute at a crucial time as a second chance to reverse the course of an inconsistent season that saw him first sent to the fourth line and then a healthy scratch 17 times during the regular season. He had five goals and 10 assists and was a minus-10 in 63 games.
�It�s kind of disappointing a little bit, my season,� Frolik said. �The first 20 games were good (and then) I don�t know what happened. Hockey is about confidence and I guess I didn�t have much confidence.�

Saad story: Among the five players the Hawks added to their roster � the so-called �Black Aces,� who likely will practice and travel with the team at some point during the postseason � was Brandon Saad.
The teenager was the story of training camp and won a job to start the season, playing in the first two games before being sent to the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League, where he had 34 goals and 42 assists in 44 games.
Coach Joel Quenneville indicated Saad likely wouldn�t appear in the series against the Coyotes but didn�t rule the 19-year-old appearing later.
�We liked (Saad) in training camp and how he started the season,� Quenneville said. �He brings something to our organization that we like.�
Labor update: Commissioner Gary Bettman said no formal discussions have begun with the players� association on a new collective bargaining agreement. The current CBA is set to expire Sept. 15.
�It�s really up to the union,� Bettman said. �We�ve been ready. We can�t do this until they�re ready.�
Bettman said he hopes a deal is reached quickly and a work stoppage next season is avoided.
�My hope is it�s quick, quiet and painless,� Bettman said.

He was less certain about a world-record time, though it was in reach.

"I just started hammering the rest of the way," Cassidy said.
It paid off when Cassidy, of Toronto, crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 18 minutes and 25 seconds, which beats the world record by two seconds.

If you're in the market for a top spec Android smart phone, the Xperia S is certainly a contender. Its gorgeous HD screen displays pixel-perfect text and video, with vibrant colours and velvety blacks. The 12.1-megapixel camera also impressed me.

The Sony Xperia S has a stonking HD screen with a higher pixel density than the iPhone 4S.
However, all this is encased in a plasticky slab that lets it down. What's more, it will only ship with Android's Gingerbread operating system at launch -- you'll have to whistle while you wait for an update to the latest version, Ice Cream Sandwich. Sony's own software additions to Android are nothing to write home about.

HTC's new One Series runs ICS across the board, and its Sense user interface is a tastier topping than Sony's kludgy widgets. Samsung's almighty Galaxy S2 shouldn't be forgotten either -- and with the Korean giant lining up the sequel, the Xperia S has its work cut out.

One big selling point for the Xperia S is Sony's media muscle -- you don't just have to lean on the Android Market Google Play store. Sony has a substantial music, movies and TV back catalogue of its own. There's also going to be a PlayStation store on the Xperia S for games but it wasn't live at the time I wrote this review.

While multiple stores serving your media needs is not as streamlined as Apple's iTunes approach, you can't complain about being short of options for filling your slab with wares. For a more joined-up experience, Apple's iPhone 4S is very hard to beat, so unless you're a confirmed fandroid, the iPhone should be on your shortlis

Frequent dental X-rays may significantly increase the risk of non-malignant brain tumours, say researchers.Over a lifetime, having dental X-rays can double or triple the chances of developing meningioma tumours, a study has found. The tumours grow in the outer membrane covering the brain. In one case, involving X-rays on children, a five-fold increase in risk was seen.However, the likelihood of developing a brain tumour at all is very small. Meningiomas, which account for about one in five primary brain tumours, affect two or three in every 100,000 people in the UK each year. The tumours are slow growing, often causing no symptoms, and usually benign.Scientists in the US looked at the self-reported dental histories of 1,433 patients diagnosed with meningioma tumours. They were compared with a "control group" of 1,350 matched individuals who were free of the disease.The tumour patients were consistently more likely to have been exposed to dental X-rays. One of the most common procedures is the "bitewing" X-ray which uses an X-ray film clenched between the teeth in a tab of plastic or cardboard.Bitewing X-rays check for decay between the teeth and can also expose bone loss caused by severe gum disease. Over a lifetime, patients with meningioma were between 1.4 and 1.9 times more likely than controls to have undergone bitewing X-rays on a yearly or more frequent basis.The findings appear in an early online edition of the journal Cancer, published by the American Cancer Society.British cancer expert Dr Paul Pharoah, from Cambridge University, said the study was "carefully designed and well conducted". He added: "The authors report that dental X-rays are associated with a small relative increase in risk of disease of approximately 50% or 1.5-fold. This finding is statistically significant. However, as the disease is rare, the increase in absolute risk is tiny - the lifetime risk increasing from 15 in every 10,000 people to 22 in 10,000."Professor Damien Walmsley, scientific adviser to the British Dental Association, said: "Regulations governing the use of X-rays in the UK are considerably more stringent than in the US. Dentists in the UK are only permitted to take X-rays where these are absolutely necessary. This means that fewer X-rays are taken in dental practice and modern equipment has reduced exposure to radiation to extremely low levels."Responding to the study, a Department of Health spokesman said: "Patient safety is a priority and the UK has stringent safeguards in place covering the use of dental X-rays. Unlocking Old iPhones: Should Business Users Bother?

On April 6, AT&T revealed that it would allow owners of old, off-contract iPhones to unlock them starting April 8. AT&T has kept old iPhones locked to its network since the original iPhone launched in 2007, so this is a huge change in stance for the carrier. Before April 8, the only way to unlock an iPhone from AT&T's network was to jailbreak it.
AT&T explained, "The only requirements are that a customer's account must be in good standing, their device cannot be associated with a current and active term commitment on an AT&T customer account, and they need to have fulfilled their contract term, upgraded under one of our upgrade olicies or paid an early termination fee."In other words, as long as the iPhone you want to unlock is gathering dust in a drawer somewhere, AT&T will probably unlock it. If you or your business bought an iPhone 4S once it became available in October, you can't unlock it. It's probably still under contract. This policy is more likely to apply to the iPhone 4 (but probably only if you upgraded to the iPhone 4S), iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, and the original iPhone (if you still have that old hunk of smartphone history laying about).The process to get the old iPhones unlocked is fairly simple: Call AT&T or go to an AT&T store, give them the IMEI number, wait for an email from Apple with the necessary code and instructions, follow the stops, and voila, you now have an unlocked iPhone.
What does this do for you, and more importantly, does this do anything for your business?
Nearly every smartphone is locked to the carrier that sells it. Locked devices can only be used on a particular carrier's network, meaning a device you buy from AT&T can't be used on T-Mobile's network and vice versa. However, many phones can also be unlocked. Customers willing to spend a few moments on the phone and (sometimes) pay a fee, could get their devices unlocked. Some carriers require that the user fulfills 60 days of the contract before agreeing to unlock the device, but AT&T has never agreed to unlock the iPhone.
For example, in 2008, I upgraded from the original iPhone to the iPhone 3G. After switching devices, I noticed that my old iPhone couldn't be used with other carriers. Even though I had purchased the device for full price, AT&T and Apple wouldn't unlock it. Basically, the device had been downgraded to an iPod Touch. I was furious. That iPhone was 100% my property. How dare they keep it locked!
Unlocked phones can be used on the networks carriers other than the one that sells it. For the iPhone--especially the older GSM-only models--this means you can take your old iPhone to any carrier (such as T-Mobile USA), buy a SIM card, and enjoy wireless service. In T-Mobile's case, the iPhone doesn't support its 3G network, but can still use T-Mobile's EDGE 2.5G network. In fact, many people do this (after jailbreaking their devices).
Now that AT&T and Apple will officially unlock old iPhones, you no longer have to jailbreak an iPhone to use it on the carrier of your choice.
For business users, this isn't all that relevant. Most business users are probably signed to current contracts and can't unlock their current devices. The chief benefit of having an unlocked phone is so that it can be used on other networks. You've always been able to use the AT&T SIM card from an iPhone in another AT&T device and use AT&T's services. That doesn't change.
The one important factor, however, is security. Jailbreaking iPhones creates security holes that can be breached. (Businesses shouldn't allow employees to jailbreak their devices in the first place.) Now that jailbreaking is no longer required, IT can breath a sigh of relief knowing that at least one avenue has been roped off.
The bottom line here is the following: Old iPhones are now slightly more useful, because they can be used on networks other than AT&T's. Who does this benefit? People who actually have old iPhones on hand. Most business users probably don't. It also means the secondary market for used iPhones just got more exciting, something else that most businesses shouldn't care all that much about.

I would really hope it comes with Ice Cream Sandwich and not Gingerbread. At CES we were expecting to see some phones with Ice Cream Sandwich launching, but the only ones we saw would not be out anytime soon. With Ice Cream Sandwich being announced last October, I�d expect for Samsung to give their Galaxy S3 a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich to go with their Touchwiz User Interface. But Gingerbread isn�t to bad, it�s still way ahead of the technology on other smartphone platforms like Blackberry, iPhone and Windows Mobile.
Dual or Quad Core?

This is the big one, is Samsung going to put in a Dual-core Exynos processor or a Quad-core Exynos processor? Many of us are hoping for a quad-core, we always want more power right? I think the more important issue is which one works better with the battery? As long as the phone runs fast like the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch on Sprint does, I am happy with dual-core as long as the battery is adequate to last the entire day.

Most phones are coming standard with 1GB of RAM these days, except for HTC they are still putting only 768MB of RAM in their phones with their heavy skin, Sense. But will we see a boost in the amount of RAM the Korean manufacturer of the Galaxy S lineup puts in their third generation of Galaxy S Android phones? If we see quad-core processor I believe we will see a boost to 1.5GB or maybe 2GB of RAM.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Pricing and Release Date

For the most part I am expecting the same pricing that we saw on the Galaxy S2 lineup. As far as release dates, if the latest rumors about the Galaxy S3 being a no show at MWC this year are any indication it looks like Samsung wants to make a smoother launch and launch the International and US versions together. Last year the International version was released many months before it was released on Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile.

more on a two-year contract, it�s aiming to compete with top of the range handsets from Samsung and Apple and it needs to impress.

Even before you�ve turned the device on, it does. A scratch-resistant �Gorilla Glass� 4.7� screen runs seemingly over the edges of a matt plastic back, and the 130g device is just 8.9mm thick. Switched on, the screen is the best currently available on an Android device and arguably even better than the iPhone. Colours are warm and images are sharp.

Key to using the phone, however, is the software rather than the hardware: so the fact that the One X has a processor that�s also faster than any other currently on the market is somewhat academic. Indeed, fast as the device is the main noticeable impact of that technology is its detrimental effect on battery life � heavy smartphone users will need to charge this during the day, perhaps even more so than the X�s rivals.

Of the features that stand out, however, first is the device�s excellent camera, which takes some of the sharpest images I�ve yet seen on any mobile phone and also offers easy editing features. Second is the integration with online storage system Dropbox � 25gb come free for two years, so you can store all your music, documents and photos without fear of ever losing them again. This may not be innovative but it�s certainly impressive and useful.

In a way, however, it�s the smaller features that make the One X so impressive � it runs the latest version of Google�s operating system, called Ice Cream Sandwich, but it�s been enhanced by HTC�s newly streamlined Sense interface. So, if this rumor is true, I will be one of them who wants to get in line to get the iPhone 5. I�m referring to a Reuters report saying that the new iPhone will have a sharper and bigger screen. How big? 4.6-inch big complete with the Retina Display feature. The report was citing a Korean media which reported the said information about the next iPhone.
Additionally, the report also claims that the next iPhone will be launched sometime in the second quarter. The report did not mention about the reason why Apple will make iPhone 5 bigger. Nokia and Microsoft are making a big splash with the first major launch of a Nokia Windows Phone in the U.S. But is the device and the Windows Phone software impressive enough to entice Apple iPhone customers to jump ship?Like so many people who write in to Ask Maggie seeking advice, I also struggle with big decisions about which new device to buy. In this edition of Ask Maggie, I answer a question that I've been mulling for months about whether I should ditch Apple and its iOS ecosystem for something else. I also help another reader decide which upcoming Google Android phone to choose on Sprint Nextel's new 4G LTE network I've been an iPhone user for years, but since the Nokia Lumia 900 was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, I've been wondering if it might be time for a change. After a two-day flirtation with AT&T's new Windows Phone from Nokia, should I break up with my iPhone for the Nokia Lumia 900?

Here's my dilemma: My iPhone 3GS, which had been on the fritz for months, died in February while I was covering Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Ironically, I was left at the world's largest cell phone trade show without a working cell phone. Luckily, a colleague had an unlocked Google Android Samsung Galaxy S II, so I've been using that device ever since.
But now I have to decide. Do I get the iPhone 4S or switch to the new Windows Phone? The device goes on sale this weekend at AT&T.
First announced at CES in January, the Lumia 900 is Nokia's flagship Windows Phone in the U.S. market. It's packed with high-end features including an 8-megapixel camera, vivid 4.3-inch screen, and 4G LTE support. I had played around with the Windows Phone software on earlier phones, and I liked it. The live tiles are slick and intuitive to use. I much prefer it to Google Android, which I sometimes have trouble navigating.
But the most attractive thing about the Lumia 900 is the price. AT&T is selling the device, which has 16GB of storage, for $99 with a two-year contract. Meanwhile Apple's iPhone 4S, now six months old, would cost me $200 for the 16GB model. The price difference is only $100, but with Apple's extended AppleCare warranty, the difference is really $200. Given that my last iPhone didn't make it a full two years before it died, that's definitely something I should consider. (I didn't have AppleCare for my previous iPhone.)

Needless to say, when the Lumia 900 test unit came to CNET's New York City office last week, I jumped at the opportunity to take it out for a test drive for a couple of days.
Here's what I liked about the device: The 4.3-inch screen is big, which to be honest with you I wasn't sure I was going to like. But Nokia has done a good job not making the Lumia 900 too bulky. It fit easily in my hand and was comfortable to carry around. I had no problems slipping it into my pocket. And it was easy to find in my cavernous purse. When I saw my co-worker's iPhone 4S I couldn't help but comment how "cute" it was because it looked so tiny in comparison.
The AT&T LTE network in New York City was terrific when I could access it. I noticed a big difference between surfing on LTE compared to when I used other AT&T devices that are 3G or HSPA+. The problem is that AT&T's network is spotty. And when I was on the far West Side of Manhattan the other day for a Sprint event, I got no AT&T reception at all. And by no service, I mean the device had no bars of coverage. It didn't even go down to 3G service. Meanwhile the Samsung Galaxy S II I had with me, also on AT&T's network, was getting bars of HSPA+ service.
I also really like the Windows live tile software. In fact, I liked it more than I thought I would. It's kind of gimmicky in a certain sense, but it's really easy to use. And I had no trouble figuring out how to access my Facebook contacts or the pictures I had taken and loaded onto the device. In fact, I think I'd say that it's even easier to use than an iPhone, which may sound like heresy to some Apple fangirls and boys out there. But I think this software is terrific for novice smartphone customers or for people like me who have about a five-minute level of tolerance for technical frustration.
I was also impressed with the battery life. Nokia says the device should last up to seven hours. And I found that the Lumia 900 easily made it through the day without a charge. And it even had plenty of juice to get it into the next day. I'll admit I wasn't doing any hardcore streaming with the device. But when I've used other devices, such as some Google Android phones, I have to turn off a bunch of bells and whistles to get the device to last for more than five hours even when it's just sitting idle in my office.

The elements and configurations of an Android application are described in the file AndroidManifest.xml. For example all Actions and Solutions of the program must be announced in this computer file.

It must also contain the necessary authorizations for the program. For example if the program needs system accessibility it must be specified here.

The program feature describes the base program for the Java object referenced in this file. If a Java item can be found within a different program, it must be announced with the full certified program name.

Google Play needs that every Android application uses its own exclusive package. Therefore it is a good addiction to use your reverse domain name as program name. This will prevent mishaps with other Android applications.

android:versionName and android:versionCode specify the version of your application. versionName is what the user sees and can be any String. versionCode must be an integer. The Android Market determine based on the versionCode, if it should perform an update of the applications for the existing installations.

The tag defines an Activity, in this example pointing to the Convert class in the de.vogella.android.temperature package. An intent filter is registered for this class which defines that this Activity is started once the application starts (action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" ). The category definition category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" defines that this application is added to the application directory on the Android device.

The @string/app_name value represents source information which contain the actual value of the application name. The use of source file allows to provide different resources, e.g. post, colors, symbols, for different devices and allows to change programs.

How to develop Android Applications?

Android applications are primarily written in the Java programming language. The Java source information are converted to Java class files by the Java compiler.

Android provides a tool called "dx"" which converts Java class files into a dex (Dalvik Executable) file. All class files of one application are placed in one compressed .dex file. During this conversion process redundant information in the class files are optimized in the .dex file.

The .dex file and the resources of an Android project, e.g. the images and XML files, are packed into an .apk (Android Package) file. The program aapt (Android Asset Packaging Tool) performs this packaging.

The resulting .apk file contains all necessary data to run the Android application and can be deployed to an Android device via the "adb" tool.

The Android Development Tools(ADT) allows that all these actions are conducted transparently to the user; either within Surpass or via the command line.

Conserving energy in Palo Alto just got personal.
On Tuesday, the city announced the beta launch of the Opower "social energy" Facebook app, which aims to promote energy efficiency through friendly competition. The app allows residents to compare their monthly usage with similar households, as well as share tips and tricks for lowering bills.
"Palo Altans generally like to compete in these types of things," said City of Palo Alto Utilities spokeswoman Joyce Kinnear, "so we think it will be very effective."
The utility is among 16 participating in the app's rollout to an estimated 20 million households, according to energy information software maker Opower.
"The level of enthusiasm we're seeing from people who are excited about getting better context about their energy use, and share -- even brag -- about their energy efficiency within their social networks is inspiring," said Dan Yates, CEO and cofounder of the Arlington, Va.-based company.
The concept derives from social science research on human behavior and energy use, the company said in a statement. Word-of-mouth proved to be an effective tool in getting people to be more energy efficient during the Natural Resources Defense Council's Hood River Conservation Project of the 1980s.
"The application's use of this kind of behavioral science combined with energy information, and Facebook's global platform for connecting and sharing has the potential to create a dialogue and

action about energy efficiency among hundreds of millions of people," the company said.The NDRC, along with Facebook, partnered with Opower to design the social energy app. The agency estimates that a 1 percent reduction in household energy use across the country would result in a savings of $1.6 billion.
The app represents a step forward from the bimonthly energy reports Opower has been producing for City of Palo Alto Utilities customers since fall 2011, said Utilities Director Valerie Fong.
"When our customers engage online with others using this easy, fun tool, they are helping our entire community move toward more energy savings, reduce utilities bills and a more sustainable daily life," Fong said.
The city's climate protection plan also stands to benefit as a result of the app, said Deborah van Duynhoven, assistant to the city manager. This year, the plan calls for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from city operations and the community collectively by 5 percent of 2005 levels.
"It's a playful way of thinking about being more sustainability," said Duynhoven, adding that she plans to provide an update on the climate protection plan at the city council's April 16 meeting.
Former mayor Yoriko Kishimoto, who emphasized sustainability from the council dais, said she plans to use the app.
"I think it will stimulate a lot of thinking and friendly competition," she said. "Peer to peer is the most powerful learning environment."
In the meantime, residents can achieve significant savings simply by adjusting their daily habits, said Kishimoto, adding that she lives in a "drafty, old house" built in 1908. In January, her home was in the top 5 percent of 100 similar residences in terms of energy efficiency.
"If I can do it, anybody can do it," she said. "Though, I will say that my family wears a lot of sweaters during winter."
Initial features of the Opower app:

Yes, I want an Intel i5/i7 system, with Evga Geforce graphics cards.

I have had good experiences with Corsair power supplies, and have heard their RAM is really good too.

3) What tasks will you be performing with the Desktop?

Playing lots of video games, school, pretty well everything. I need to be able to multitask really quickly and efficiently, I have a dual monitor setup, so I'll often be playing a video game on one screen, while watching a movie on the other, with numerous windows and internet browsers open in the background, etc.

I want to be able to play games on high settings for about 4 years or so. I wouldn't really be able to afford another upgrade for 4 years, and I hate it when I have to lower a games settings.

4) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

A pretty wide variety, MMOs like TOR, FPS like Crisis 2 or the net Far Cry, lots of RPGs like The Witcher 2, Skyrim, the Mass Effect series, the next Dragon Age, strategy games like CIV V, etc.

5) Do you mind buying parts online without seeing them in person?

I'm ok with buying parts online so long as it's from a reputable dealer, amazon, newegg, etc.

Not really, 2 or more PIC-E slots for dual GPUs, I'm thinking I'd better get 12-16GB RAM because I run so much stuff at the same time. I would want a Blu-Ray/DVD drive.

Better than some, worse than others. I have upgraded a couple desktops, fought of malware and viruses numerous times (thanks be to Google), reinstall my OS, formatted hard drives, etc. etc.

Firefox�s Plans for 2012: Silent Updates, Sharing on Social Networks and many more

After releasing a new version of its browser, Firefox 11, the Mozilla foundation has laid out its plans for 2012, and there are definitely some interesting things in the works for one of the most popular web browsers out there.

Part of the plans Mozilla mentions have already been achieved in Firefox 10 and 11. To resolve problems with old add-ons not working in new versions of the browser, they were made compatible by default. Also, from Firefox 11 you can now also sync add-ons across several computers.

However, the full Firefox roadmap reveals several other important updates planned for later in 2012.

One that caught our attention is silent updates, which will be downloaded and installed silently in the background, without the need for user intervention. This feature is planned for Firefox 13.

Another interesting feature coming later in 2012 is the ability to share links and updates to a variety of social networks directly from the browser. We�ve seen products such as Flock try to integrate social networking directly into the browser, but none have been able to catch a significant market share.

Microsoft's Windows 8 Browser Embraces Metro Aesthetic

Microsoft constructed Internet Explorer 10 �in lockstep� with Windows 8, according to a new corporate blog posting.
Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 embraces same �Metro� design aesthetic that increasingly defines Microsoft�s products from Windows 8 to the revamped Xbox dashboard. It has been optimized for both touch and keyboard-and-mouse input. In doing so, the latest browser dovetails with Microsoft�s longtime drive to make Internet Explorer�s controls and frame fade into the background, bringing Web content front and center.
With regard to touch, the browser incorporates many of the gestures familiar to anyone who�s ever surfed the Web on a mobile device�essential, considering how Microsoft plans for Windows 8 to appear on tablets and convertible form-factors in addition to traditional PCs. According to a March 13 posting on the "Building Windows 8" blog, these gestures include �stick-to-your-finger responsiveness of the touch support for panning and zooming, swiping back and forward for page navigation, and double tapping to zoom in and out of content.�
Browser features include navigation tiles (with frequently-visited Websites, alongside ones the user�s pinned to the Windows 8 Start screen), a Metro-style �tab switcher� that accompanies open tabs with thumbnail images, and a navigation bar with auto-complete and other features.
Microsoft has also built the browser to take advantage of the Windows �snap� feature, which lets users link two apps together; for example, if one wants to cruise the Web while simultaneously checking email. A set of �charms� along the right-side rail offers access to the default search engine, the ability to share links and Web info, and so on.
Security measures include XSS filtering, application reputation, InPrivate browsing, tracking protection, and hang detection and recovery.
Microsoft is ramping up Windows 8 for its final release sometime in late 2012. The upcoming operating system features a Start screen of colorful, touch-friendly tiles linked to applications, the better to operate on tablets. While its hardware partners� manufacturing plans remain largely unclear, rumors this week suggested that Nokia plans on launching a Windows 8 tablet sometime in the fourth quarter of the year, complete with a 10-inch screen and Qualcomm dual-core chipset.
In the quest for tablet-market supremacy, Windows 8 tablets will face not only Apple�s iPad�currently the dominant device in the space�but a legion of Google Android devices.
