<p>The Slice Tool in Illustrator is an excellent tool for dividing artwork into smaller pieces for various purposes, like web design, logo creation, creating interactive elements, and more. It separates parts of an element that can be saved as individual images.</p>

<p>In this tutorial, we'll discuss the concept of the Slice Tool and provide a step-by-step guide on how to effectively use it in Illustrator.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is the Slice Tool in Illustrator?</h2>

<p>The Slice Tool enables us to create sections within our artwork, a process called slicing. With the slice tool, you can segregate objects and save these slices individually as images. Additionally, you can export and customize these individual slices. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Do We Use the Slice Tool?</h2>

<p>The Slice Tool is an essential asset in the realm of graphic design. It has various uses for designers working with Illustrator. </p>

<ul>
<li>The Slice Tool enables us to divide our artwork into individual sections, allowing us to create web layouts and interfaces. </li>

<li>It also enables designers to adjust specific portions of artwork without changing the entire piece. </li>

<li>As mentioned earlier, the Slice Tool can divide artwork into smaller sections, each of which can be saved as an individual image. These saved slices can be exported afterward. </li>

<li>The slices created using the Slice Tool help us create interactive elements for web design.</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Access the Slice Tool</h2>

<p>In Illustrator, the Slice Tool is located in the left toolbar of the interface. The shortcut key for accessing this tool is <strong>Shift </strong>+<strong> K</strong>. Alternatively, you can access this tool from the overhead toolbar. Navigate to the overhead toolbar, open the <strong>Object </strong>menu, and select <strong>Slice </strong>from the dropdown menu. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="314" height="317" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-25-22_52_36-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview.png" alt="Slice Tool in Illustrator" class="wp-image-30008" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-25-22_52_36-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview.png 314w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-25-22_52_36-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview-297x300.png 297w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-25-22_52_36-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview-150x150.png 150w" sizes="(max-width: 314px) 100vw, 314px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Use the Slice Tool?</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1 </h3>

<p>If you want to select more than one slice, hold down the <strong>Shift</strong> key and select the slices one by one.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 4</h3>

<p>With the slice selected, you can resize or reposition the slice as you desire. </p>

<div class="wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-1">

<p class="has-theme-palette-8-background-color has-background"><strong>Note</strong>: Using the same method, you can also hide the slices by selecting Hide Slices from the drop-down menu.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Export or Save Slices</h2>

<p>After we prepare the slices, it's time to save them. Remember, the slices we create are for the web, so when we save them, we must select <strong>Save for Web (legacy)</strong>. Follow the step-by-step instructions for saving slices in Illustrator:</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1 </h3>

<p>Adobe Photoshop is such a comprehensive and universal design software that it provides you with hundreds of tools to carry out any design-related task. There are many ways to achieve the same result. </p>

<p>Typography plays a crucial role in achieving the desired goals with many designs. Whether it's a social media post, the cover of books or booklets, presentations, a magazine cover, or podcast cover art, Photoshop has proven itself to be the best in the market. </p>

<p>However, when it comes to dealing with large text blocks and large paragraphs, some important features seem to be missing in Photoshop. Thankfully, these tasks can still be achieved with some workarounds. </p>

<p>One of these tasks is to create <strong>Bullet Points</strong> in Photoshop. Although there's no specific way to create bullet points, we can still create them using some different not-so-obvious methods. In this tutorial, we'll go through these methods to make bullet points while working in Photoshop.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Methods to Create Bullet Points in Photoshop</h2>

<p>Here are four different and quick methods to create bullet points in Adobe Photoshop. you can try these all one by one and master the one that seems the best fit for you.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">1. Bullet Points with &#8216;Wingdings'</h3>

<p>Although some of the typography-related tasks in designs can be done only by the built-in fonts in Photoshop, we can still import as many fonts as we like to achieve our desired designs with typography. Similarly, we can import fonts that include only symbols rather than the alphabet. This way, you can get your custom-made bullet points in Photoshop canvases.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.bittbox.com/adobe-photoshop/how-to-add-fonts-2">Adding fonts to Photoshop</a> is easy. And Photoshop also comes with some built-in fonts that include symbols. This font is known as &#8216;Wingdings'. To create bullet points, let's see how this font works.</p>

<p>Open your design where you want to create the bullet points. I've just created a blank document, as shown below.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1309.png" alt="New document in Photoshop" class="wp-image-29981" width="757" height="462" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1309.png 967w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1309-300x183.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1309-768x469.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 757px) 100vw, 757px" /></figure></div>

<p>Now, select the <strong>Type Tool</strong> from the Tool Panel / Tool Bar.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1310.png" alt="Photoshop's Type Tool" class="wp-image-29982" width="489" height="542" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1310.png 585w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1310-271x300.png 271w" sizes="(max-width: 489px) 100vw, 489px" /></figure></div>

<p>Now, click anywhere on the canvas where you want to add the bullet point. You can also create a text box on the canvas by clicking and dragging while your Type Tool is active. While your text tool is active, go above the options bar of the type tool to change the font style.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1313-1024x563.png" alt="Options for the type tool" class="wp-image-29983" width="745" height="409" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1313-1024x563.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1313-300x165.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1313-768x423.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1313.png 1034w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure></div>

<p>Next, change the font style from the already selected font to Wingdings.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1315.png" alt="Selecting the Wingding font" class="wp-image-29985" width="649" height="503" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1315.png 852w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1315-300x233.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1315-768x596.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 649px) 100vw, 649px" /></figure></div>

<p>Once you have selected the font Wingdings, now you can type anything to achieve different symbols on your canvas. The basic bullet point in this font comes out as you press the <strong>&#8220;L&#8221;</strong> key from your keyboard. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1318-1.png" alt="Creating a bullet point in Photoshop" class="wp-image-29987" width="626" height="397" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1318-1.png 736w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1318-1-300x190.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 626px) 100vw, 626px" /></figure></div>

<p>Similarly, you can get the following related symbols by pressing, M, N, O, A, B, C, D, E, and F, respectively.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1319.png" alt="Other symbols from Wingdings" class="wp-image-29988" width="727" height="402" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1319.png 947w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1319-300x166.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1319-768x425.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></figure></div>

<p class="has-theme-palette-8-background-color has-background"><strong>Note:</strong> The symbols shown in the above screenshot are achieved by typing the lowercase letter. You will achieve the different symbols when you type the uppercase letters.</p>

<p>In this straightforward way, you can make a bullet point in Photoshop. And if you want to change the colors of your bullet points, you can change them the same way you would change the color of your text int eh Photoshop.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">2. Bullet Points with the Keyboard Shortcut</h3>

<p>The keyboard shortcut is the quickest method to make a bullet point in Photoshop. the shortcut seems a bit complicated, but it works. If you are comfortable using the shortcut, then you can go with this quick method.</p>

<p>To make it work, you first need to open the design file in Photoshop and have your <strong>Type Tool</strong> activated using the same method that has been told in the previous method.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/d.png" alt="Using the type tool" class="wp-image-29990" width="737" height="361" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/d.png 823w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/d-300x147.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/d-768x376.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 737px) 100vw, 737px" /></figure></div>

<p>With your type tool active, simply use the shortcut, <strong>&#8220;Alt + 0 + 1 + 4 + 9&#8221;</strong> (For Windows) or <strong>&#8220;Opt + 8&#8221;</strong> (For Mac). You'll see that you get a bullet point on your canvas.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1320.png" alt="Black bullet point created in Photoshop" class="wp-image-29991" width="639" height="430" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1320.png 681w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1320-300x202.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 639px) 100vw, 639px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3. Bullet Points with the Copy and Paste Method</h3>

<p>The two methods that have been mentioned above are good. But to achieve the bullet points constantly, you need to keep changing the fonts repeatedly in the Wingdings method, and in the shortcut method, you will need to use both of your hands every time you intend to get the bullet point.</p>

<p>To solve this problem, there's another method to easily create bullet points on your canvas. And that is to copy the bullet points from any text or document and paste it on the canvas of Photoshop. For copy and paste, you can use the shortcuts, Control + C and Control + V, respectively (for PC), or Command+C and Command+V (for Mac). </p>

<p>It's not compulsory to copy and paste the whole text with bullet points, you can just copy the single bullet point from anywhere and paste it every time in your text when you get to need a new bullet. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">4. Bullet Points with Glyphs</h3>

<p>Apart from all the above methods of creating the bullet points, there's another easy method through which you can access all bullet points in a single window, And that's the <strong>Glyphs Panel</strong>.</p>

<p>After you've opened your design document in Photoshop and have the Type Tool activated, you can move to the next step to get your bullet points.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/d-1.png" alt="Using the type tool" class="wp-image-29995" width="775" height="379" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/d-1.png 823w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/d-1-300x147.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/d-1-768x376.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 775px) 100vw, 775px" /></figure></div>

<p>Now, to open the <strong>Glyphs</strong> panel, go to, <strong>&#8220;Window &gt; Glyphs&#8221;</strong> by going over to the <strong>Menu Bar</strong>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1322.png" alt="Opening the glyphs panel" class="wp-image-29997" width="719" height="572" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1322.png 893w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1322-300x239.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1322-768x611.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 719px) 100vw, 719px" /></figure></div>

<p>A panel or window will get opened, named <strong>Glyphs</strong>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1324-1024x596.png" alt="The options in the glyphs panel" class="wp-image-29998" width="749" height="436" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1324-1024x596.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1324-300x175.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1324-768x447.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1324.png 1034w" sizes="(max-width: 749px) 100vw, 749px" /></figure></div>

<p>You should know that every Photoshop built-in font comes with special symbols and icons. The options that appeared on the Glyphs panel will contain the font type, which means that you can use the symbols, icons, or bullet points of the same fonts you are writing your text with. It depends on you whether to use the bullets in the same font or a different font. </p>

<p class="has-theme-palette-8-background-color has-background"><strong>Note:</strong> Other fonts that you install may or may not include symbols.</p>

<p>Here, I've selected the Wingdings font, knowing that it already comes with symbols and various icons. Make sure that &#8216;Entire Font' is selected in the dropdown. This allowsyou to see all the symbols and icons that come with the font.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1325.png" alt="The entire font" class="wp-image-29999" width="711" height="439" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1325.png 993w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1325-300x185.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1325-768x474.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 711px) 100vw, 711px" /></figure></div>

<p>Now, you can go through all the font elements in the Glyphs panel and look for the bullet point you are looking for. As you like any bullet point on the Panel and intend to add that to your canvas, you Double Click on that, and in no time, the bullet point will be added to your canvas.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1327-1024x529.png" alt="Creating a bullet point glyph" class="wp-image-30000" width="783" height="403" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1327-1024x529.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1327-300x155.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 783px) 100vw, 783px" /></figure></div>

<p>In this way, you can add any bullet point from the panel. And if you want to change the color of this bullet point, you can change it the same way as you change the text color.</p>

<p>So, in these ways, you can create bullet points for your texts in Adobe Photoshop.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Final Thoughts on Creating Bullet Points in Photoshop</h2>

<p>Although there's no obvious method to add bullet points to your text in Adobe Photoshop, you can still add them using these different approaches. You're a designer, and as a designer, you're a problem solver. Thus, there could be a lot of methods to create bullet points in Adobe Photoshop. You just need to find the best way through which you can achieve the result you are looking for.</p>

<p>We all know that color is the essence of any artwork. It's the language through which artwork communicates its message and tone. And recoloring artwork can bring new life to a design, giving it a fresh and captivating look. Fortunately, Adobe Illustrator offers a fantastic tool that makes recoloring artwork easy, smooth, and flexible. </p>

<p>In this tutorial, we'll discuss how to recolor artwork and provide you with a comprehensive guideline to master this incredible feature of Illustrator. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is the Recolor Artwork Tool?</h2>

<p>When I was new to the design field, I had to go through a time-consuming task where I searched all over the internet for perfect color palettes for my artwork. That was until I discovered the <strong>Recolor Artwork</strong> functionality in Illustrator, which saved hours of my time. With the help of this tool, I no longer had to worry about colors as I could effortlessly create my own perfect color palette. </p>

<p>The Recolor Artwork Tool enables us to recolor our designs using the predefined colors or craft our own unique color palettes using the color wheel, color library, or using the color picker to pick colors from the artwork or design we're working on.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">

<li><strong>Color Library</strong></li>

<li><strong>Color Theme Picker</strong></li>
</ul>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-21-22_48_36-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview.png" alt="Options when recoloring artwork" class="wp-image-29972" width="332" height="419" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-21-22_48_36-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview.png 447w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-21-22_48_36-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview-237x300.png 237w" sizes="(max-width: 332px) 100vw, 332px" /></figure></div>

<p>Now, let's have a look at how each of these options works.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Color Library</h3>

<p>The Recolor Artwork Tool offers a variety of predefined colors. To access them, click on the Color Library menu and choose from the listed options in the drop-down menu. You'll find numerous options to choose from. Some of them are pretty good. Take your time to explore the options and select the one that best fits your artistic vision.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-21-22_30_52-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview.png" alt="Color library options" class="wp-image-29971" width="332" height="535" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-21-22_30_52-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview.png 468w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-21-22_30_52-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview-186x300.png 186w" sizes="(max-width: 332px) 100vw, 332px" /></figure></div>

<p>Here, I am choosing Baroque from the Art History group, showing you an example.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/library.png" alt="Example of one of the choices from the color library" class="wp-image-29967" width="451" height="391" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/library.png 905w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/library-300x260.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/library-768x665.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 451px) 100vw, 451px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Color Theme Picker</h3>

<p>Color Theme Picker enables you to pick or extract color palettes from other artwork, images, or designs present on the artboard or canvas and use those colors to recolor your artwork. </p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1 </h4>

<p>First, we need to activate the tool. Click on the Color Theme Picker located just below the Colors section, to activate the tool.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Step 2</h4>

<p>Hover the mouse pointer over the object from which you want to extract or pick colors for your artwork, and click on it.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-21-22_37_04-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview.png" alt="Example of one of the options from the color theme picker" class="wp-image-29968" width="501" height="358" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-21-22_37_04-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview.png 914w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-21-22_37_04-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview-300x215.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-21-22_37_04-free-Recovered.ai_-@-66.67-RGB_CPU-Preview-768x550.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 501px) 100vw, 501px" /></figure></div>

<p>To extract from multiple sources, hold down the <strong>Shift </strong>key and click on the objects. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Color Wheel</h3>

<p>In the Color Wheel, you'll see the color stops for all the colors contained in your artwork.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Step1 </h4>

<p>Have you ever seen the realistic concept art of games with many buildings and tall towers? Or the pictures of busy markets with giant billboards and advertisements? Or the images with street perspectives, including Photoshopped texts and digitally painted graffiti? These images grab our attention and appeal to our eyes. </p>

<p>For a designer, artist, or digital illustrator who uses Adobe Photoshop, it becomes crucial to know how these images can be made within seconds. At some point, Photoshop users will need to manipulate the images this way to get the desired result for editing. And in this tutorial, you'll learn to manipulate your images in the way you've always seen in those eye-catching graphics. </p>

<p>Before we go further, first, let's understand what the vanishing points are.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Vanishing Point</h2>

<p>As a designer, you're familiar with <strong>perspectives</strong>. There are a few types of perspectives. The most commonly known are <strong>one-point perspective</strong> and <strong>two-point perspective</strong>. Every image we see or everything our eye sees contains perspective, whether one-point or two-point perspective. When we notice an image with perspective, we come to know that the sides of objects in that image seem to merge or meet at a common point. That point is known as the <strong>Vanishing Point</strong>. <strong>One-point perspective</strong> contains a single vanishing point, and <strong>two-point perspective</strong> contains two vanishing points.</p>

<p>Let's look at the following images to understand these types of perspectives. (The following images will be used in this tutorial. If you want to follow along, you can download them from Pexels: Image of the road and <a href="https://www.pexels.com/photo/cardboard-box-on-table-in-room-with-plants-4464817/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Image of the box</a> ).</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1277-1.png" alt="Photo of road with a single vanishing point" class="wp-image-29926" width="292" height="368" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1277-1.png 466w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1277-1-238x300.png 238w" sizes="(max-width: 292px) 100vw, 292px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">One vanishing point in one-point perspective</figcaption></figure></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asaasa.jpg" alt="Photo of a box with two vanishing points" class="wp-image-29927" width="643" height="277" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asaasa.jpg 829w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asaasa-300x129.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asaasa-768x331.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 643px) 100vw, 643px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Two vanishing points in a two-point perspective</figcaption></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Vanishing Point Filter in Adobe Photoshop</h2>

<p>To edit an image from its applied perspective, Photoshop has introduced a filter called the <strong>Vanishing Point Filter</strong>. Applying this filter, we can add text in perspective and simply edit anything in the applied perspective.</p>

<p>Let's see how we can use this filter to edit our images. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Using the Vanishing Point Filter in Adobe Photoshop</h2>

<p>To understand it better, let's take the following image of buildings in perspective. We'll add perspective text on these buildings. (If you want to follow along, <a href="https://www.pexels.com/photo/low-angle-photography-of-airplane-flying-above-high-rise-buildings-1159343/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">download the image</a> from Pexels.)</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1283-1024x576.png" alt="Photo of skyscrapers" class="wp-image-29929" width="715" height="401" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1283-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1283-300x169.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1283-768x432.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1283.png 1070w" sizes="(max-width: 715px) 100vw, 715px" /></figure></div>

<p>After you've opened the image in Photoshop, create a new layer above the original layer by going to the <strong>Layer Panel</strong>. Everything we apply or add to this image will be added to the new layer.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asasasas.jpg" alt="Creating a new layer" class="wp-image-29930" width="282" height="401" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asasasas.jpg 346w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asasasas-211x300.jpg 211w" sizes="(max-width: 282px) 100vw, 282px" /></figure></div>

<p>Now apply the <strong>Vanishing Point Filter</strong> by simply going to the <strong>&#8220;Filter &gt; Vanishing Point&#8221;</strong> from the above <strong>Menu Bar</strong>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asq.jpg" alt="Selecting the vanishing point filter" class="wp-image-29932" width="588" height="469" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asq.jpg 850w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asq-300x239.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asq-768x613.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 588px) 100vw, 588px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">You can also use the <strong>shortcut, &#8221; Control+Alt+V&#8221;</strong> to apply the filter.</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>A new window of the Vanishing Point Filter will open. The filter dialog box contains several tools on the left.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1288-1024x545.png" alt="Vanishing point filter window" class="wp-image-29933" width="731" height="388" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1288-1024x545.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1288-300x160.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1288-768x409.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1288.png 1366w" sizes="(max-width: 731px) 100vw, 731px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">The layout of the <strong>Vanishing Point Filter</strong></figcaption></figure></div>

<p>You'll see that by default, the selected tool of the filter will be <strong>&#8216;Create Plane Tool.'</strong> Through this tool, we can add the <strong>perspective plane</strong> to the image. To add the plane, simply add the four points as the four corners of the plane. In the image below, I have added a plane to a building.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1289.jpg" alt="Plane created by the vanishing point filter" class="wp-image-29934" width="693" height="461" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1289.jpg 1018w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1289-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1289-768x511.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 693px) 100vw, 693px" /></figure></div>

<p class="has-theme-palette-8-background-color has-background"><strong>Note:</strong> Make sure that the color of the plane's grid is blue. If the grid color is yellow or red, it means that Photoshop does not accept the grid or plane you have just applied.</p>

<p>Similarly, you can add the planes to other buildings using the same Create Plane Tool.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1291-1024x619.png" alt="Planes created for the other buildings" class="wp-image-29935" width="703" height="425" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1291-1024x619.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1291-300x181.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1291-768x465.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1291.png 1172w" sizes="(max-width: 703px) 100vw, 703px" /></figure></div>

<p>Now, simply click <strong>OK</strong>.</p>

<p>As you click OK, you'll be returned to the initial Photoshop window. The perspective planes have been applied to your buildings, and you can access them or edit them simply by going again to the <strong>Vanishing Point Filter</strong>. You can save this picture as it seems now. When you open the saved image again, the Vanishing Point Filter will still be there as you saved it before.</p>

<p>Now, let's consider that we want to add the text on these planes. First, add text normally, as you add on any picture in Photoshop. It is good to add it on a new document, otherwise, you can also add it to the image you are working on. Here, I have added the text on a new document. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1292-1024x576.png" alt="Text created in a new document" class="wp-image-29936" width="701" height="394" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1292-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1292-300x169.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1292-768x432.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1292.png 1050w" sizes="(max-width: 701px) 100vw, 701px" /></figure></div>

<p>We can simply copy and paste these texts on our plane in the Vanishing Point Filter to add perspective. But before doing this, first, we need to know that Vanishing Point Filter works with the pixels/rasters only, and our text is vector here. So, to select the pixels of the text, go to the <strong>Layer Panel </strong>and right-click on the T-icon of the text layer that you want to copy. From the shown panel, select &#8220;<strong>Select Pixels</strong>.&#8221; </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1293.jpg" alt="Selecting the pixels of the text" class="wp-image-29937" width="278" height="518" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1293.jpg 366w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1293-161x300.jpg 161w" sizes="(max-width: 278px) 100vw, 278px" /></figure></div>

<p>After your pixels are selected, copy the text using the shortcut, <strong>Control+C</strong> (PC) or <strong>Command+C</strong> (Mac).</p>

<p>Now, go to the building image and open the Vanishing Point Filter and, paste the copied pixels of the text. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1295-1024x650.png" alt="Pasting the text into the image of the skyscrapers" class="wp-image-29938" width="741" height="470" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1295-1024x650.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1295-300x190.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1295-768x487.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1295.png 1133w" sizes="(max-width: 741px) 100vw, 741px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Before activating the Vanishing Point Filter, make sure that the new layer is selected in the Layer Panel.</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The text shown here is straight. You can resize or rotate this text as you like before moving it to the perspective planes. To do so, simply press the <strong>&#8220;T&#8221;</strong> to transform the pasted text on the photo. Here, I've resized and rotated it according to the building I'm applying it to, and then I brought it to the plane. On the plane, you see that the text attains the perspective of the plane.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1296-1024x547.png" alt="Adding text to the plane of one of the buildings" class="wp-image-29939" width="769" height="410" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1296-1024x547.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1296-300x160.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1296-768x410.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1296.png 1164w" sizes="(max-width: 769px) 100vw, 769px" /></figure></div>

<p>You can still adjust the size and rotation of the text while it's in the plane. After all the adjustments, simply click <strong>OK</strong>. You'll be returned to the main Photoshop window, and you will see that text is applied to the plane and it's on the new layer.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1297.png" alt="Text has been applied to the building and is adjusted according to the building's vanishing point" class="wp-image-29940" width="657" height="437" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1297.png 857w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1297-300x200.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1297-768x511.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 657px) 100vw, 657px" /></figure></div>

<p>Similarly, you can add another text to another building simply by following the steps to copy the text pixels of the text you want to paste. And then, simply come back to the image of the building and activate the Vanishing Point Filter by going to the above Menu Bar. Paste the new text pixels on the canvas. Adjust them on another building as we did before. And click OK.</p>

<p class="has-theme-palette-8-background-color has-background"><strong>Note:</strong> Make sure to add a new layer before you select the Vanishing Point Filter again. It allows the added objects to remain on the different layers. That allows us to edit them separately.</p>

<p>You can change the blending modes of the newly added text layers to make the image more realistic.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1300.png" alt="Text with the blending mode adjusted" class="wp-image-29942" width="675" height="453" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1300.png 826w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1300-300x202.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1300-768x516.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 675px) 100vw, 675px" /></figure></div>

<p>In this way, you can also add any graphic or raster image on any added perspective plane of the picture. Here, in the same way, I have added the text to the image of the road shown in the perspective section.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/ZX-819x1024.png" alt="Text has been added to the road" class="wp-image-29944" width="461" height="576" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/ZX-819x1024.png 819w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/ZX-240x300.png 240w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/ZX-768x960.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/ZX-1229x1536.png 1229w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/ZX-1638x2048.png 1638w" sizes="(max-width: 461px) 100vw, 461px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Using the Vanishing Point Filter in Packaging Design</h2>

<p>The usage of perspective planes plays a crucial role in the packaging design. Graphic designers or packaging experts mostly use the vanishing point filter to add logos or graphics to the boxes or products to give them a realistic look. They use it to make custom mockups too.</p>

<p>To understand how they do it, let's take an example of the following image with the box, that was mentioned at the start of this tutorial.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1301.png" alt="Photo of a box opened in Photoshop" class="wp-image-29945" width="650" height="524" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1301.png 782w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1301-300x242.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1301-768x619.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px" /></figure></div>

<p>After opening the image in Photoshop, apply the Vanishing Point Filter on the image after adding a new layer above the main original layer, as we did in the previous example. And from the Vanishing Point Filter window, add the perspective planes to a side of the box.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1302-1024x512.png" alt="Plane added to one side of the box" class="wp-image-29946" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1302-1024x512.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1302-300x150.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1302-768x384.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1302.png 1160w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Here, as you add a plane to a side of the box, you can also add another plane to the other side too that will be connected to the first added plane. To do this, after adding the first plane to the side of the box, press the Control key (PC) or Command key (Mac) and drag that side of the plane where you want to add the other plane.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1303-1024x617.png" alt="Plane added to another side of the box" class="wp-image-29947" width="731" height="440" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1303-1024x617.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1303-300x181.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1303-768x462.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1303.png 1063w" sizes="(max-width: 731px) 100vw, 731px" /></figure></div>

<p>Adjust the sides of the newly added plane to make it meet the original box's perspective.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1304.png" alt="Box in the vanishing point filter options" class="wp-image-29948" width="705" height="446" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1304.png 1015w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1304-300x190.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1304-768x487.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 705px) 100vw, 705px" /></figure></div>

<p>Simply click OK. The perspective planes will be added to the sides of the box.</p>

<p>Now, let's say we want to add any graphic or logo to the planes of the box. For that, the image of the graphic should be pixel-based. Here, I have taken the following logo. (If you want to follow along, <a href="https://www.vecteezy.com/vector-art/203301-blue-mountain-logo" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">download the following logo from Vecteezy</a>).</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1305.png" alt="Logo that will be added to the box" class="wp-image-29951" width="665" height="416" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1305.png 940w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1305-300x188.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Screenshot-1305-768x480.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 665px) 100vw, 665px" /></figure></div>

<p>We've added the two planes on the two sides of the box. Then using the same steps and method as used in the previous image with the buildings, I've added this logo to the sides of the box. The final look of the box with the logo is shown below.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asxzc-880x1024.png" alt="Box with the logo on two sides" class="wp-image-29952" width="435" height="506" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asxzc-880x1024.png 880w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asxzc-258x300.png 258w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asxzc-768x893.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asxzc-1321x1536.png 1321w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/asxzc-1761x2048.png 1761w" sizes="(max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px" /></figure></div>

<p>And here we go, in just no time we successfully edited the images. Now we're familiar with one of the most in-demand skills of Photoshop.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Final Thoughts on the Vanishing Point Filter in Photoshop</h2>

<p>What we've learned just now are the basics of using the perspective planes to edit images in Photoshop. You'll be amazed to use and practice the Vanishing Point Filter of Photoshop as you can achieve much more complex results.</p>

<p>Like other Photoshop tools, the use of the Vanishing Point Filter is not limited to only one thing or task. You can use it the way that seems the best for you. Keep practicing with it and you'll become a master in no time.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Features of the Free Transform Tool</h2>

<p>The Free Transform Tool comes with several features to perform: </p>

<ul>
<li><a href="https://www.bittbox.com/adobe-illustrator/scale-tool">Scale</a></li>

<li><a href="https://www.bittbox.com/adobe-illustrator/rotate-text-illustrator">Rotate</a></li>

<li>Reflect</li>

<li>Shear </li>

<li><a href="https://www.bittbox.com/adobe-illustrator/perspective-text">Perspective Change</a></li>

<li>Distort</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Use the Free Transform Tool</h2>

<p>Using the free transform tool is quite easy. I'll be using this <a href="https://www.vecteezy.com/vector-art/10310097-illustration-of-banana-fruit-with-cute-and-cheerful-face-bright-and-fresh-color-suitable-for-juice-drink-packaging-restaurant-vegetarian-agriculture-vitamin-nutrition-printing" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">banana illustration from Vecteezy</a> for the tutorial. You can download it if you'd like to follow along.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1 </h3>

<p>Select the <strong>Selection Tool</strong> (keyboard shortcut <strong>V</strong>) from the left toolbar. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 2 </h3>

<p>Use the Selection Tool to select the object you want to transform.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 3</h3>

<p>Select the <strong>Free Transform </strong>(<strong>E</strong>) Tool from the left toolbar. You'll notice some handles around the object. Click and drag the pointers to transform the object. Remember, dragging different handles will give you different results.</p>

<p>When you select the free transform tool, an extended menu will open, including other options for transforming your object. </p>

<ul>
<li>Free Transform</li>

<li>Perspective Distort</li>

<li>Free Distort</li>
</ul>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img decoding="async" width="303" height="312" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-19-00_09_26-free-Recovered.ai_-@-100-RGB_CPU-Preview.png" alt="" class="wp-image-29901" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-19-00_09_26-free-Recovered.ai_-@-100-RGB_CPU-Preview.png 303w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-19-00_09_26-free-Recovered.ai_-@-100-RGB_CPU-Preview-291x300.png 291w" sizes="(max-width: 303px) 100vw, 303px" /></figure></div>

<p>Now, I'll elaborate on how each feature works in Illustrator. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Scale</h2>

<p>This option enables you to resize an object. To scale an object, first select the object, then select the <strong>Free Transform</strong>. Take your mouse pointer and hover around any of the corners until you see a four-headed arrow icon. Now, click and drag it to resize as desired. </p>

<div class="wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-3"><div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-19-00_11_47-Untitled-1-Recovered_-@-100.43-RGB_CPU-Preview.png" alt="" class="wp-image-29902" width="435" height="380" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-19-00_11_47-Untitled-1-Recovered_-@-100.43-RGB_CPU-Preview.png 869w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-19-00_11_47-Untitled-1-Recovered_-@-100.43-RGB_CPU-Preview-300x262.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-19-00_11_47-Untitled-1-Recovered_-@-100.43-RGB_CPU-Preview-768x670.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px" /></figure></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/scale.png" alt="" class="wp-image-29903" width="386" height="346" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/scale.png 748w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/scale-300x269.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 386px) 100vw, 386px" /></figure></div></div>

<p>Two things to keep in mind when you're scaling:</p>

<ul>
<li>If you want to resize it from the center, press and hold down the <strong>Alt</strong> key while scaling the object. </li>

<li>If you want to scale proportionally, press and hold down the <strong>Shift </strong>key while scaling the object.</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rotate</h2>

<p>To rotate an object, you need to take the cursor slightly outside the edge of the corner. You'll see your pointer change into a double arrow icon. Click and drag the corner handle in a circular motion (clockwise or counter-clockwise). Hold down the <strong>Shift</strong> key while rotating if you want to rotate in 45-degree increments. </p>

<div class="wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-4">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/ROTATE2.png" alt="" class="wp-image-29904" width="421" height="418" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/ROTATE2.png 616w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/ROTATE2-300x298.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/ROTATE2-150x150.png 150w" sizes="(max-width: 421px) 100vw, 421px" /></figure>

</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reflect</h2>

<p>To reflect or create a mirror effect, click on one of the side handles and drag it all the way across the object to the other side. If you want to add a slanted effect, you can hold down the <strong>Ctrl</strong> key while reflecting the object.</p>

<div class="wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-6">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/reflect1.png" alt="" class="wp-image-29906" width="262" height="248" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/reflect1.png 506w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/reflect1-300x283.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 262px) 100vw, 262px" /></figure>

</div>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Shear or Skew</h2>

<p>You need to use the side handle to shear your object. Hold down the <strong>Ctrl</strong> button and click and drag the side handle. Hold down the <strong>Shift</strong> key while shearing the object if you want to shear proportionally or constrain the movement. You can hold down the <strong>Alt</strong> key if you want to shear the object from the center. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/skew.png" alt="" class="wp-image-29909" width="304" height="319" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/skew.png 582w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/skew-286x300.png 286w" sizes="(max-width: 304px) 100vw, 304px" /></figure></div>

<p>Using the free transform tool on text differs from using it on objects or images. If you apply free transform to plain text, it won't work. You'll need to prepare the text before applying the transform to it.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1 </h3>

<p>Select the <strong>Selection Tool</strong> (<strong>V</strong>) from the left toolbar.</p>

<p>When you're working in Adobe Illustrator, you may need multiple layers. And when we're talking about having multiple layers, it's easy to confuse layers with artboards. However, duplicating layers and duplicating artboards are not the same. You can have multiple artboards (or canvases) in Illustrator, and you can create multiple layers on a single artboard.</p>

<p>In this tutorial, we'll look at how to duplicate a layer in Illustrator, and we'll show a few different ways you can complete the task. The process is a bit different than <a href="https://www.bittbox.com/adobe-illustrator/merge-layers-illustrator">merging layers in Illustrator</a>, which is another task that you may need to do at times.</p>

<p><strong>Related reading: <a href="https://www.bittbox.com/adobe-illustrator/how-to-move-artboards-in-illustrator">How to Move Artboards in Illustrator</a></strong></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Duplicate a Layer in Illustrator, Method 1: Click, Hold, and Drag</h2>

<p>Follow these steps if you want to make a duplicate or make a copy of a layer.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1: </h3>

<p>Open the <strong>Layers Panel</strong> from the right toolbar. If you cannot find the Layer Panel, that means it's not enabled yet. Go to <strong>Window</strong> and select <strong>Layers</strong> to enable your Layers<strong> </strong>Panel. Now you can see the Layers panel on your screen.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/window-layer-1024x910.png" alt="" class="wp-image-27294" width="702" height="683"/></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 2: </h3>

<p>In this Layers Panel, you'll see the layers in your Illustrator document. Select the main layer that you want to duplicate.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-panel.png" alt="" class="wp-image-27290" width="540" height="469" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-panel.png 338w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-panel-300x262.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 3: </h3>

<p>Now, while holding down the <strong>Alt </strong>key, click on it and drag the layer in the Layer Panel down to the bottom of the list. When you reach the bottom, your mouse pointer will show you a plus icon.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-drag22.png" alt="" class="wp-image-27288" width="550" height="472" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-drag22.png 472w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-drag22-300x257.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 4: </h3>

<p>Once you see your cursor showing the plus icon, you can release the mouse button and the Alt key. Your layer is duplicated as you release the mouse button.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-drag-2.png" alt="" class="wp-image-27289" width="568" height="500" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-drag-2.png 526w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-drag-2-300x264.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Method 2: Using the Duplicate Option</h2>

<p>Here's another easy way to duplicate a layer in Illustrator.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1: </h3>

<p>Open the <strong>Layers Panel</strong> that you can find on the right side toolbar. You can also use the keyboard shortcut <strong>F7</strong> to enable the Layers Panel. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 2: </h3>

<p>Now from the Layers Panel, select the layer you want to duplicate. Just click on the layer to select it</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 3: </h3>

<p>Click on the hidden <strong>Options Menu,</strong> located in the top right corner of the Layers Panel, as shown in the screenshot below.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/option-menu-1-1024x910.png" alt="" class="wp-image-27296" width="555" height="493" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/option-menu-1-1024x910.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/option-menu-1-300x267.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/option-menu-1-768x683.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/option-menu-1-1536x1365.png 1536w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/option-menu-1.png 1800w" sizes="(max-width: 555px) 100vw, 555px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 4: </h3>

<p>From the extended menu, select Duplicate &#8220;Layer 1&#8221;. Remember, this will show the name of the layer you selected for duplicating. Here, the selected layer's name was &#8220;Layer 1&#8221;. This is why it showed <strong>Duplicate &#8220;Layer 1&#8221;</strong>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/duplicate.png" alt="" class="wp-image-27286" width="531" height="403" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/duplicate.png 412w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/duplicate-300x228.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 5:</h3>

<p>Once you click on <strong>Duplicate &#8220;Layer 1&#8221;</strong>, your layer will be duplicated. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Method 3: Copy and Paste Your Layers</h2>

<p>Want to know how to copy a layer in Illustrator?</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1: </h3>

<p>Open the <strong>Layers Panel</strong> from the right toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut <strong>F7</strong>.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 2: </h3>

<p>Now you need to create a new layer. To create a new layer, click on the plus icon at the bottom of the panel.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 3: </h3>

<p>After creating the new layer, select the original layer you want to copy and press <strong>Ctrl + C</strong> on PC (or <strong>Cmd + C</strong> on Mac). This will copy the layer.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 4: </h3>

<p>Now select the new layer and press <strong>Ctrl + F</strong> on PC (or <strong>Cmd + F</strong> on Mac). Your selected layer will now be pasted on the newly created layer.</p>

<p>The background plays a significant role in making a design pop. As a designer, changing the background color is something you'll probably do frequently when working in Adobe Illustrator.</p>

<p>There are several ways to change the background color in Adobe Illustrator. In this tutorial, we'll learn how to change the background color in Illustrator quickly and easily.</p>

<p><strong>If you're looking for a way to change the background color of Illustrator's interface, please see the last section of this article.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="567" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/cv-1024x567.png" alt="How to Change the Background Color in Adobe Illustrator" class="wp-image-27226" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/cv-1024x567.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/cv-300x166.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/cv-768x425.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/cv-1536x850.png 1536w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/cv.png 1601w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Change Background Color in Illustrator with the Rectangle Tool</h2>

<p>This is probably the easiest and quickest way to change the background color of an artboard in Adobe Illustrator. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1:</h3>

<p>Choose the <strong>Rectangle Tool</strong> from the left toolbar (the icon is a square). You can also use the keyboard shortcut <strong>(M)</strong> to select this tool.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle.png" alt="Rectangle tool" class="wp-image-27233" width="485" height="503" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle.png 330w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle-289x300.png 289w" sizes="(max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 2:</h3>

<p>Draw a rectangle with a similar ratio to your artboard and align it with the artboard. This rectangle is the new background for your design.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle2-1-1024x882.png" alt="Drawing a rectangle" class="wp-image-27235" width="649" height="558" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle2-1-1024x882.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle2-1-300x258.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle2-1-768x661.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle2-1.png 1058w" sizes="(max-width: 649px) 100vw, 649px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 3:</h3>

<p>Now go to the color fill option and change the fill color of the newly drawn rectangle. As you change the color of the rectangle, the background color of the artboard will change accordingly. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Change the Background Color Using the Document Setup</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1: </h3>

<p>Open your document first.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 2: </h3>

<p>Go to the <strong>File </strong>menu. You will find it on the top toolbar.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 3:</h3>

<p>From the dropdown menu, select <strong>Document Setup</strong>. You can also use the keyboard shortcut, which is <strong>Alt+ Ctrl+ P</strong>. You will see a window titled &#8220;Document Setup.&#8221;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 4:</h3>

<p>In this dialog box, you will get many options to edit your document. To change the background color, check the <strong>Simulate Colored Paper</strong> option from the <strong>Transparency and Overprint</strong> section. Now, on the right side of Simulate Colored Paper, click on the upper color swatch given there. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 5: </h3>

<p>As you click on the box, it will open a color palette. You'll see a list of &#8220;basic colors&#8221; you can select. You can select a color from here for your background, or you can use the color picker to pick any color of your choice.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/2-6.png" alt="Choosing a background color" class="wp-image-27228" width="621" height="601" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/2-6.png 717w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/2-6-300x290.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 621px) 100vw, 621px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 6:</h3>

<p>Click <strong>OK</strong> or press enter to apply the selected color once you have selected the color and set the background.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/3-1.png" alt="The changed document setup" class="wp-image-27229" width="635" height="598" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/3-1.png 715w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/3-1-300x282.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 7:</h3>

<p>Go to the <strong>View </strong>menu from the top toolbar. Select <strong>Show Transparency Grid </strong>or use the keyboard shortcut key (<strong>Shift + Ctrl + D</strong>) to view the color grid you selected for the background. Now all the elements that were invisible due to the white background are visible on this background.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Using the Layers Panel to Change the Background in Illustrator</h2>

<p>Another way to change the background color in Illustrator is using the <strong>Layers Panel</strong>. In this method, you can change the background color by creating layers for the artboard you're working on and filling it in with your desired color.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1:</h3>

<p>Create a new layer from the Layers panel on the left side of the screen. If you cannot find your layer panel it's because you haven't created a shortcut for it. Go to Window, and from the drop-down menu, select <strong>Layer</strong>, or simply press <strong>F7</strong>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-1-1024x1024.png" alt="Create a new layer" class="wp-image-27242" width="632" height="632" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-1-1024x1024.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-1-300x300.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-1-150x150.png 150w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-1-768x768.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-1-1536x1536.png 1536w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-1.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 632px) 100vw, 632px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 2: </h3>

<p>Once you created the new layer (which is layer 2) select layer 1. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/laye11-edited.png" alt="Layers panel" class="wp-image-27245" width="638" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/laye11-edited.png 681w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/laye11-edited-300x300.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/laye11-edited-150x150.png 150w" sizes="(max-width: 681px) 100vw, 681px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 3:</h3>

<p>Using the rectangle tool, draw a rectangle of the same size as the artboard. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle2-2-1024x882.png" alt="Draw a rectangle" class="wp-image-27237" width="581" height="500" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle2-2-1024x882.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle2-2-300x258.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle2-2-768x661.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/rectangle2-2.png 1058w" sizes="(max-width: 581px) 100vw, 581px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 4:</h3>

<p>Now you can change the rectangle's color using the color fill option. It is working as the background of the artboard. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/fill-edited.png" alt="Color Fill Option" class="wp-image-27239" width="606" height="606" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/fill-edited.png 1067w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/fill-edited-300x300.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/fill-edited-1024x1024.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/fill-edited-150x150.png 150w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/fill-edited-768x768.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 606px) 100vw, 606px" /></figure></div>

<div class="wp-block-image">

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 5:</h3>

<p>Lock the layer so that the background is fixed for the artboard. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-lock-1024x1024.png" alt="Locking the background layer" class="wp-image-27240" width="635" height="635" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-lock-1024x1024.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-lock-300x300.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-lock-150x150.png 150w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-lock-768x768.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-lock-1536x1536.png 1536w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/layer-lock.png 1600w" sizes="(max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Changing Background of the Existing File</h2>

<p>If you already have a file and now you want to change the color of the background, you can go with this method. It will be less chaotic if your file has many layers.</p>

<ul>
<li>Open your file.</li>

<li>Go to the <strong>File</strong> menu from the top.</li>

<li>From the dropdown menu, choose <strong>Export</strong>.</li>

<li>Select <strong>Save for Web (Legacy)</strong> </li>

<li>Once you select <strong>Save for Web,</strong> you'll get a window to make a few changes to your file.</li>

<li>Uncheck the <strong>Transparency </strong>option (If checked).</li>

<li>Change the color from the color options you have in this window.</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Change the Background Color of Adobe Illustrator's Interface </h2>

<p>In Adobe Illustrator, the default color of the interface is gray, but you might want to change this color. There are four different colors you can choose from. </p>

<ul>
<li>Go to the <strong>Edit</strong> menu.</li>

<li>From the drop-down menu, choose <strong>Preferences</strong>. </li>

<li>Select <strong>User Interface</strong>. You will find it towards the end of the list.</li>

<li>You will get a <strong>Preferences</strong> window where you can change the user interface.</li>

<li>Select the color you prefer. </li>
</ul>

<p>Ready to add the finishing touches to your design in Adobe Illustrator? But the objects aren’t properly aligned? Does your design look unprofessional because it isn’t adjusted properly?</p>

<p>Well, worry no more! Because with just a few steps, this tutorial explains how to use Illustrator's <strong>Scale Tool</strong> to resize, adjust, and align your design perfectly.  </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Use the Scale Tool in Illustrator </h2>

<p>Basically, the Scale Tool in Illustrator helps adjust, enlarge, or even reduce the shape of an object or design in Adobe Illustrator. To access Illustrator's Scale Tool, you can either select it from the toolbar at the left, or use the keyboard shortcut &#8220;<strong>S</strong>&#8220;. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-52.png" alt="An image showing the location of the Scale tool in Adobe Illustrator" class="wp-image-26854" width="850" height="449"/></figure>

<p>Now, using the polygon tool from the toolbar at the left, I drew the vector shape you can see on the artboard above. Through the options on the right, you can adjust the fill color or the stroke (outline) of the shape according to your preference.  </p>

<p>You can use the Scale Tool if you want to increase or reduce its size. Simply select the edge of the shape and drag it outwards to increase the size, or inwards to reduce it.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="975" height="500" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-51.png" alt="A polygon in Illustrator after you increase its size using the Scale tool. " class="wp-image-26853" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-51.png 975w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-51-300x154.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-51-768x394.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px" /></figure>

<p>If you only want to increase the size in the vertical direction, then drag the shape in the vertical direction. To increase the size horizontally, drag the shape outwards in the horizontal direction you want to stretch. Similarly, the cool part about the tool is that you can even flip in laterally.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Scale an Object in Illustrator Proportionally </h2>

<p>Now you may be thinking, you can resize objects with the selection tool and transform tool as well. What is so special about Adobe Illustrator's Scale Tool? Well, in most cases, you'll want to increase the shape's width and height proportionally, and the scale tool allows you to do just that.  </p>

<p>To scale objects without changing the proportion, press and hold the <strong>Shift</strong> key while aligning the object.  </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="975" height="515" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-54.png" alt="Representation of how to increase the size of a polygon proportionally in Illustrator." class="wp-image-26857" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-54.png 975w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-54-300x158.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-54-768x406.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px" /></figure>

<p>In the above image, you can probably see that when I dragged the shape's edges outwards, the size increased proportionally. That is, the object increased by the same amount on all sides.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Scale in Illustrator Using One Point as a Pivot</h2>

<p>To do this, you can simply select any point on the object which you want to make the pivot. And then, you can adjust the shape along that point. For example, I can select a point by simply clicking on any corner of the object.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="975" height="523" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-56.png" alt="An image where a point is selected as a pivot, on a polygon in Illustrator." class="wp-image-26859" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-56.png 975w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-56-300x161.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-56-768x412.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px" /></figure>

<p>If, for example, you want to flip the object along that point, you can select any corner of the object and drag it across to flip the selected object laterally along the selected point. It's a simple click and drag technique.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="535" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/scaleee-1024x535.png" alt="Visual representation of how to flip an object using the Scale tool in Illustrator" class="wp-image-26924" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/scaleee-1024x535.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/scaleee-300x157.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/scaleee-768x401.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/scaleee-1536x803.png 1536w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/scaleee.png 1917w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Scale by Percentage in Adobe Illustrator</h2>

<p>Another more professional scaling method is to use the pop-up window and specify the amount you want to scale in percentage points. To open the pop-up window, press <strong>Alt</strong> and click on the screen. You will see a pop-up window appear.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="975" height="518" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-53.png" alt="An image of a pop-up window that helps in scaling an object properly In Illustrator. " class="wp-image-26856" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-53.png 975w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-53-300x159.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-53-768x408.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px" /></figure>

<p>Right now, the scale on the horizontal as well as the vertical plane is 100%. If you want to decrease this by 50% on both planes, then simply adjust the values and make them 50%. Below you can see how the object is adjusted at once.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="975" height="516" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-57.png" alt="An image showing the effects of adjusting the shape of an object using the pop-up window in Illustrator" class="wp-image-26860" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-57.png 975w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-57-300x159.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-57-768x406.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px" /></figure>

<p>Another feature is that you can adjust the strokes, effects, or even the corners of the objects. For example, if I want to scale the strokes and scale corners of the above image proportionally, I will simply select both options under the options section in the dialog box pop-up window.  </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="975" height="521" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-55.png" alt="An image showing how to adjust the strokes, and effects, using Scale tool, to create a professional design. " class="wp-image-26858" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-55.png 975w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-55-300x160.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/image-55-768x410.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px" /></figure>

<p>The resulting image will look like this! It's just that simple! Now that you know how to use the scale tool in Illustrator properly, you can easily create those new and innovative designs and artwork. </p>

<p>One of the best things about Photoshop is its exceptional tool flexibility, simplifying our work and enhancing our productivity. The Options Bar works as a gateway to access all the options associated with the selected tool, enabling seamless customization and control over the tools for us. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is the Options Bar?</h2>

<p>The Options Bar is a vital part of Photoshop as it controls and determines how every Photoshop tool operates. It includes the options and features that come with each tool in Photoshop. However, each tool has a different configuration; hence, the options bar will not appear the same with each tool. As you select a different tool, the contents of the options bar change depending on the selected tool.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="82" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-10_52_26-Untitled-1-@-50-RGB_8-1024x82.png" alt="Options Bar in Photoshop" class="wp-image-29864" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-10_52_26-Untitled-1-@-50-RGB_8-1024x82.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-10_52_26-Untitled-1-@-50-RGB_8-300x24.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-10_52_26-Untitled-1-@-50-RGB_8-768x62.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-10_52_26-Untitled-1-@-50-RGB_8.png 1122w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Where is the Options Bar?</h2>

<p>The Options Bar is located above the document window, just below the Menu Bar. It's a horizontal bar containing options and settings for the selected tools.</p>

<p>Can't find the options bar? No worries! Just go to the <strong>Window</strong> menu on the overhead toolbar and select <strong>Option </strong>from the drop-down menu. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_34_12-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_-1024x649.png" alt="The location of the Options Bar in Photoshop, just below the menu bar" class="wp-image-29865" width="609" height="386" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_34_12-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_-1024x649.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_34_12-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_-300x190.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_34_12-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_-768x487.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_34_12-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_.png 1179w" sizes="(max-width: 609px) 100vw, 609px" /></figure></div>

<p>Sometimes it may happen that you cannot find the options bar. Out of the blue, it's just disappeared from the interface. Well, don't panic! It's not gone forever. You may have removed, hidden, or closed it by accident. Follow the same mentioned above to restore the <strong>Options Bar</strong>. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_41_27-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_.png" alt="Setting the options bar to be visible" class="wp-image-29866" width="457" height="499" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_41_27-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_.png 862w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_41_27-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_-274x300.png 274w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_41_27-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_-768x840.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 457px) 100vw, 457px" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Repositioning the Options Bar</h2>

<p>You can reposition the Options Bar if you want. There's a handle at the left edge of the options bar. Click and drag the handle to move the options bar and place it wherever you want.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Tools and Options Bar</h2>

<p>The Options Bar is directly connected to tools as it adapts to the active tool. It generates specific settings and parameters to modify how the tool will behave. In short, the options bar is all about what a tool offers. </p>

<p>For example, when the Rectangle Tool is selected, the options bar will show options related to the adjustment of a rectangle. It enables you to select the fill, adjust the stroke width and type, set the height and width of the shape, and more. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="87" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/RECT-1024x87.png" alt="Settings for the rectangle tool in the options bar" class="wp-image-29867" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/RECT-1024x87.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/RECT-300x25.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/RECT-768x65.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/RECT.png 1123w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Use the Options Bar</h2>

<p>Working with the Options Bar is smooth and flexible. I'll explain it with examples here.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 1 </h3>

<p>First, select any tool you want from the left toolbar. For demonstration, I have selected the <strong>Brush Tool</strong> here.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_49_50-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_.png" alt="Photoshop's brush tool" class="wp-image-29868" width="315" height="344" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_49_50-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_.png 399w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/2023-06-07-11_49_50-Untitled-1-@-50-oPTIONS-bAR-RGB_8-_-275x300.png 275w" sizes="(max-width: 315px) 100vw, 315px" /></figure></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 2 </h3>

<p>You'll notice an instant change in the options bar as you select the Brush Tool. The Options Bar changes based on the tool you just selected, displaying all the relevant options and configurations.</p>

<p>After selecting the brush tool, the options you will see in the options bar are brush size, shape, settings, blending mode, opacity, brush flow, smoothing settings, brush angle, and symmetry options.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="87" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/BRUSH-1024x87.png" alt="The settings in the options bar for the brush tool" class="wp-image-29869" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/BRUSH-1024x87.png 1024w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/BRUSH-300x25.png 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/BRUSH-768x65.png 768w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/BRUSH.png 1170w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 3 </h3>

<p>Take your time to observe the settings in the options bar. Go through all of them and understand what each one does.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step 4</h3>

<p>Now interact with the options in the bar and adjust as needed. Adjust the brush size, and choose which blending mode you want to work with or which shape of brush you want. You can modify all the options associated with the active tool in the options bar.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Importance of the Options Bar</h2>

<p>The Options Bar simplifies our work in many ways. </p>

<ul>
<li>The Options Bar provides tool-specific settings that allow you to customize your tools. As mentioned earlier, you can modify all the options associated with the active tool in the Options Bar.</li>

<li>The Options Bar offers you context-based adjustments. When performing tasks like resizing, creating shapes, or cropping, the options bar provides parameters to directly input your desired size or ratio. </li>

<li>Let's admit that the Options Bar saves us a lot of time. With all the options in one place and its convenient placement, which you can reposition as you want, it eliminates the need to navigate multiple menus to access all the tool options.</li>
</ul>

<p>The Options Bar is an essential part of Photoshop that ensures your workflow is not interrupted by helping you throughout your work. Knowing how to make the best use of the Options Bar will truly help you achieve your goals in time.</p>

<p>Are you looking for a way to create an effective grid system in Adobe Illustrator? If so, then you've come to the right place! This quick tutorial will teach you how to make a comprehensive and visually appealing grid using the popular vector graphics software. </p>

<p>While creating grids manually can be time-consuming, with this tutorial, it takes only minutes — no matter your level of design experience. Keep reading as we’ll take you through a few simple steps make a grid in Illustrator. In just a few minutes, you'll know exactly how to craft beautiful designs with custom Illustrator grids in no time!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Overview of Adobe Illustrator Grid Tools</h2>

<p>Illustrator's Grid Tool helps the user to quickly and accurately draw evenly-spaced rows and columns. These grids allow the user to align artwork and objects precisely and accurately without committing any mistakes. These rulers help you divide a page into thirds, quarters, fifths, sixths, sevenths, and more &#8211; with no guesswork.</p>

<p>There are many scenarios when grids will be helpful. For example, if you're designing a simple table.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Use Adobe Illustrator's Grid Tools</h2>

<p>We can use two grid tools to create grids in Illustrator. Those are the <strong>Rectangular Grid Tool</strong> and <strong>Polar Grid Tool</strong>. If you want to create rectangular grids (horizontal and vertical lines) in Illustrator, use the Rectangular Grid Tool. If you want to create circular grids in Illustrator, use the Polar Grid Tool.</p>

<p>Simply click and hold the <strong>Line Segment Tool </strong>or use the keyboard shortcut<strong> (\)</strong> to select either of these tools.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="423" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/1.-Grid-tool-select.jpg" alt="Make a Grid in Illustrator by Starting with the Line Segment Tool" class="wp-image-27063" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/1.-Grid-tool-select.jpg 800w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/1.-Grid-tool-select-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/1.-Grid-tool-select-768x406.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<p>If you do not see those tools, you need to go to <strong>Window &gt; Toolbars &gt; Advanced</strong>. After selecting them, you can see these tools in Illustrator.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="424" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/2.-Toolbar-option.jpg" alt="Showing the advanced toolbars in Adobe Illustrator" class="wp-image-27064" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/2.-Toolbar-option.jpg 800w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/2.-Toolbar-option-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/2.-Toolbar-option-768x407.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Make a Rectangular Grid in Illustrator</h2>

<p>We can create a rectangular grid system in two steps.</p>

<p>If you want, you can create a freehand grid or input the exact value when you already know how big a grid should be.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step: 1</h3>

<p>Select the Rectangular Grid Tool and click on your artboard. Then you can see the <strong>Rectangular Grid Tool Options</strong> window. In this section, you can input the settings for the grid you create.</p>

<p>You can set the size of your grid using the Width and Height settings. You can set your grid reference point from one of the four points (red arrow below). Or, after selecting the Rectangular Grid Tool, you can just drag on your artboard while pressing the <strong>Shift key.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="426" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/3.-Rectangular-Grid-Tool-option.jpg" alt="Rectangular Grid Options" class="wp-image-27065" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/3.-Rectangular-Grid-Tool-option.jpg 800w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/3.-Rectangular-Grid-Tool-option-300x160.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/3.-Rectangular-Grid-Tool-option-768x409.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step: 2</h3>

<p>If you already know your grid size, set the number of horizontal lines between the top and bottom gridlines using the <strong>Number</strong> input box in the <strong>Horizontal Dividers section.</strong></p>

<p>In the <strong>Vertical Dividers section</strong>, enter the number of vertical lines between the left-side and right-side grid lines using the Number input box. When you finish the grid settings, hit the <strong>OK button</strong> or press <strong>Enter</strong> on the keyboard.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="423" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/4.-Exact-grid-size.jpg" alt="Setting the Number of Dividers" class="wp-image-27066" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/4.-Exact-grid-size.jpg 800w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/4.-Exact-grid-size-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/4.-Exact-grid-size-768x406.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<p>Also, If you want to use the <strong>Skew </strong>slider on your Illustrator grid box, you can do that. From the Skew slider, set how horizontal lines are weighted toward the top or bottom of the grid and how your vertical lines are weighted left or right.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="423" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/5.-Skew-slider.jpg" alt="Using the Skew Slider" class="wp-image-27067" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/5.-Skew-slider.jpg 800w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/5.-Skew-slider-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/5.-Skew-slider-768x406.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<p>If you want to Fill the Grid box, just check <strong>Fill Grid Box</strong>. It will be filled with your fill color.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="423" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/6.-Fill-grid.jpg" alt="Filling the grid with color" class="wp-image-27068" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/6.-Fill-grid.jpg 800w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/6.-Fill-grid-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/6.-Fill-grid-768x406.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Use the Polar Grid Tool in Illustrator (Circle Grid)</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step: 1</h3>

<p>To create a circle grid in Illustrator, you'll use the <strong>Polar Grid Tool</strong> (another name for a circular grid). Creating a polar grid uses the same process shown above for the rectangular grid. Select the Polar Grid Tool and click on your artboard. Now you can see the <strong>Polar Grid Tool Options window</strong>. In this section, you can apply the settings for the grid you want to create.</p>

<p>You can set the size of your grid using the <strong>Width</strong> and <strong>Height</strong> settings. You can set your grid reference point from one of the four points next to the height and width settings.</p>

<p>Alternatively, after selecting Polar Grid Tool, you can just drag on your artboard and pressing the <strong>Shift</strong> key.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="423" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/7.Polar-grid-option-window.jpg" alt="Illustrator's Polar Grid Tool Options" class="wp-image-27069" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/7.Polar-grid-option-window.jpg 800w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/7.Polar-grid-option-window-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/7.Polar-grid-option-window-768x406.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step: 2</h3>

<p>If you already know your grid size, set the <strong>Number</strong> input box in the <strong>Concentric Dividers section</strong> to add additional concentric circles.</p>

<p>In the <strong>Number</strong> input box, set the number of straight lines between the center and edge of the grid in the <strong>Radial Dividers section.</strong></p>

<p>And an important part of the Polar Grid, Width and Height stay the same.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="800" height="424" src="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/8.-Exact-polar-grid-size.jpg" alt="Setting the side and number of dividers" class="wp-image-27070" srcset="https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/8.-Exact-polar-grid-size.jpg 800w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/8.-Exact-polar-grid-size-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.bittbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/8.-Exact-polar-grid-size-768x407.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></figure>

<p>In the same way, you can change the <strong>Skew</strong> slider.</p>

<p>In the <strong>Concentric Dividers section</strong>, use the Skew slider to adjust how your concentric circles are weighted towards the inside or outside.</p>

<p>In the <strong>Radial Dividers section</strong>, use the Skew slider to adjust the weight of straight lines counterclockwise or clockwise.</p>
