The public buses with no ac is only 8 Bath , the buses with ac cost a little more depending how far u go.. around 20 bath..

Visa Run Cambodia

Visa runs are usually required because of some archaic law that requires foreigners to leave the county in order to activate the second visa, which allows them to return and continue tourism in the country they just left. So walk over the border get a exit stamp, turn around and get a entry stamp. My only problem with this is that my bus leave Bangkok 05.00 =)

Today i visited immigration for a extension of stay.
In and out in 40Min , Copy and photo service 102 Bath
Extension 1900 Bath , Taxi from home and back 400 Bath
No problems at all, easy to find =)
Next trip will be Embassy in Laos , will fly there 20 March

Waiting for EasyPeasy 1.7.... Tried alot of diffrent systems over the last days.. but ended back to a fresh install of EasyPeasy 1.6, the best system for EEEPC 701 in my opinion. Monday today again and this week i really have to go to immigration to extend my visa, it ends 1 March. Ticket to Laos 20 March. Yesterday i was at the cinema and watched "I am number four" Good movie. Last 12Years i have seen 3 movies in cinema, all 3 the last month =) 2tickets incl. drinks and popcorn is cheaper here than 1 ticket in Sweden. Thats all for today

Today i finally got connected to some REAL internet, 6 weeks on gprs/edge have been a real pain to me, for the last years i been use to 10mbit on a daily basis.
Youtube , Online TV/Radio its so good to use them again.
=)
And the best thing must be that i can update this blog much more =)

If you come to Bangkok don't forget to visit Lumpini Park
Its free =)
You can see Varanus salvator in the park and there are atleast 100 of them there.
There is no need to be afraid of them , they wont attack you (dont tuch them and stay 1-2M from them and there will be no problem).

BTS Skytrain Silom Line Sala Daeng Station is nearby.
MRT (Bangkok) Lumphini Station and Si Lom Station are nearby.

CHDK A495 Update

I found a new german beta for A495
They have both for 100d and 100f firmware

It boots in german language and to change to this

Hauptmenu -> Anzeige-Einstellungen -> Sprache -> select english.lng =)

And for you who is getting crazy over Write-Protected SD Cards i have the simple solution for you... Put tape over the small hole on the side and it will work.
Sometimes you need to try a few times but it will work.

And dont forget its only FAT16 that works and with A495 you need to set the boot flag and switch card to write protected...

Waiting for ADSL

Modem setup , Cables connected, waiting for the ADSL lamp to turn green. In 24H it has been 72H since i picked up the modem and thats what i was told it would take for TOT to connect me.
Weather today is still hot and sun is shining as usual here in Bangkok , about 31+ outside.
Soon time for me to go to immigration for a extension of stay, another 30 days in the LOS =). End of March time for a short trip to Laos to get another Visa.

AIS AIRCARD MF180 + LINUX

This USB stick is easy to install on Ubuntu 10.10 (just like everything else you install)
The box says its only supports Windows and Mac but thats not true.
To get this thing to work on Ubuntu do this
1: Plug in the device in a free USB slot
2: Wait until you see AIS icon on desktop
3: Right click on the icon and choose Eject (or safely remove this device)
4: Wait a few seconds
5: In NetworkManager Applet go to edit connections
6: In Mobile Broadband Add , Zte.... Forward
7: Thailand , Forward
8: AIS , Forward , Forward , Apply
9: Left click Network applet and click AIS Default and surf the internet on Linux

Thats how simple it is to use AIS Mobile Internet on Linux Ubuntu 10.10
On other flavors of Linux it should be similar.
When the stick is mounted the CD thing comes up and if you unmount/eject it
u get /dev/ttyUSB0 , /dev/ttyUSB1 , /dev/ttyUSB2
/dev/ttyUSB2 is the modem

To fill up money on card or check remaining internet time its possible to use AIS Widgets running under Wine (wine is in Ubuntu software center , and AIS widgets on the stick before you eject AIS)

Or you can put in the simcard in a phone and top up there.
100H gprs/edge package is 350Bath

From the airport its about 90 min travel by car... and i live on the OTHER side of Bangkok so for me its about 3-4 H to Pattaya.... 3000 Bath and 6-8H in car to get a paper signed???? So i stay where i am and wait until he gets to Bangkok

Have gprs/EDGE home.. internet cafe a few min from my home.... and not to forget Coffee_Industry have free 3MB WiFi....
Weather is good , Food is good , Life is good.....
