The network marketing industry basically has 5 different types of comp plans.
Here are the comp plans used by 99% of all network marketing companies today:

1. Unilevel (Stair Step and Stair Step Breakaway)
The unilevel is considered the “old school” plan used by companies such as “Amway” and “Herbalife”. It is a proven plan. However, because of the work in managing multiple legs and because of difficulty growing group volume requirements (in order to get paid higher levels of compensation), this plan has become unpopular in recent years. However, many companies continue to use a Unilevel type of plan. The advantage of unilevel plans is that they allow for distributors to get paid with only just one leg, however, they severely limit the compensation paid to distributors to just one or two levels of growth, unless the distributor manages and grows a minimum of three legs in most plans, (some require six or more legs to reach top compensation levels). Unilevel plans sometimes also pay generational bonuses, which add income to top producers.
2. Binary or Two Team PlanLike the Unilevel plan, the binary is also a proven plan.The binary plan or two team plan has been the most popular plan for the last 15 plus years in the industry. The binary plan allows for growing organizations with massive depth and perpetual leg growth. However, critics of the binary complain that building two teams is difficult for the new person, and that balancing legs is difficult. The two team plan requires two legs to grow before a distributor earns a check. The major advantage to the binary plan is that it allows team volume to accumulate month after month (no volume flushing at the end of the month), thus producing larger and larger checks quicker and faster once 2 legs become established. This unique feature of the binary plan called “banking volume” and it is not available in any other type of plan other than the binary plan. No other plan has produced more six figure income earners faster in the industry than the binary plan. Some of the largest companies in recent history have employed the binary plan including Usana, Vemma and MonaVie.
3. Forced Matrix PlanThe matrix or forced matrix is a popular plan that usually allows distributors to make a limited amount of money even without sponsoring anyone. The forced matrix plan allows for “forced” growth within an organization. The matrix plan forces “spillover” to distributors on lower levels. Historically, the forced matrix plan has been known to attract those who have never made a commission check or a profit in network marketing, along with those who employ a “wait and see” philosophy of marketing. Forced matrix plans are popular with smaller companies, but because of similarities to illegal pyramids, forced matrix plans are also scrutinized more by regulatory agencies. Companies using a forced matrix include Ultra Global and Liberty Health Network. Although there may be a company with a forced matrix comp plan that has generated over 50 million dollars in revenue annually and has not changed the plan, we don’t know of any company that has grown significantly large and continued to keep a forced matrix plan.
4. “One Team” or “Single Downline” PlansThe “One Team” or “Single Downline” plans recently became popular and then less popular within a time frame of three years. The “one team” plan puts everyone that joins the company in one “straight line”. The company claims that “everyone that joins the company after you is in your downline” and that you will get paid. However, the companies that utilize this type of plan fail to mention that the bonuses paid on company wide volume are dependent on how many people you sponsor and how much group volume you have. In effect, these one team plans are simply unilevel plans with global bonus pools paid based on the size of each distributor’s group volume. The most recent company to use this plan was Mandura.
5. “One Up” and “Two Up” Plans / Perpetual Leverage PlansThe “One or Two Up” plans are also called Perpetual Leverage Plans. These plans require you to sponsor one or two people and “pass them up” to your sponsor first. These “pass ups” are usually called “training sales”. After you have “passed up” your first one or two distributors to your sponsor you can begin to keep the next people you sponsor in your own dowline and receive your own “pass ups” from the next distributors you sponsor. These plans usually realistically require you to sponsor several people beyond the one up and two up before you generate consistent income. These plans are usually used for high ticket, one time payment products. These plans usually only produce two kinds of distibutors. Those that make a lot of money and those that make none at all. Companies who have employed this type of plan include Global Resorts Network, WMI, Resorts360 and Coastal Vacations. Cash gifting plans have also used this type of “pass up” plan. Recently these types of plans are highly scrutinized by regulatory industries. Companies and programs that experience massive growth under One and Two Up plans have been historically curbed by the government.
Most companies rely heavily on one of the plans mentioned above. Some companies use a hybrid or mixed plan combining one or more features above. Recently some companies have also added a matching bonus to their plans which encourages team coaching and team development.
Which comp plan is right for you? It’s best to stick with proven comp plans, such as the unilevel and the binary plan. Those who promote companies without a binary comp plan often complain about it, however history has shown that it is one of the most lucrative comp plans available. The potential of each comp plan differs with each company. As always, it’s best to do plenty of due diligence and research before jumping into any company.

1b. Set up your domain on it’s own hosting service. We have found HostGator.com to be the best. We think HostGator is the easiest to use and inexpensive and stable. In addition, setting up blogs with HostGator is a breeze. WordPress and Joomla can be installed in a snap. This blog is set up on HostGator with WordPress. (We make a small commission referring you to HostGator, however we have been using HostGator for years and are very happy with their web hosting). Go to HostGator now.
1c. Install WordPress or other CMS / blog software (most web hosts now have simple “one click” installation of these in their control panels once you have an account set up with them.
2. Start writing content
2a. Content should be based around a theme although random content is ok. The main point is that “something” is better than “nothing”.
2b. Original content is better than recycled content, but again “something” is better than “nothing”.
3. Customize SEO properties of your blog.
3a. Customize titles and link structure of your blog to reference keywords.
3b. Continue to maintain good SEO.
4. Promote your blog
4a. Submit to search engines.
4b. Link with other blogs.
4c. Social networks.
4d. Etc…
5. Continue to write posts
5a. A post of a day is minimal.
5b. Goal within one year should be at least 300 unique article posts.

Before you buy Xango, Vemma or any other Mangosteen based juices you should do due diligence regarding medical reviews about Mangosteen, particularly Xanthones, the main constituent that is in the pericarp of the fruit.
Although these mangosteen based juice makers claim superb health benefits, the general consensus from non-distributors is that the products are severely overpriced and that many consumers would simply not be regular purchasers if there was not a business opportunity attached with the product.
The American Cancer Society profile of mangosteen juice states there is no reliable evidence that mangosteen juice, puree, or bark is effective as a treatment for cancer in humans.
In 2007, the Mayo Clinic stated there was laboratory evidence that mangosteen xanthones had anti-inflammatory activity, but there was no evidence demonstrating such anti-inflammatory effects in humans.
In February 2006, the U.C. Berkeley Wellness Newsletter, sponsored by the University of California at Berkeley, said that “Mangosteen marketers make farfetched and unsubstantiated claims for their products.”
A 2008 medical case report described a patient with severe acidosis possibly attributable to a year of daily use (to lose weight, dose not described) of mangosteen juice (brand not described) infused with xanthones. The authors proposed that chronic exposure to alpha-mangostin, a xanthone, could be toxic to mitochondrial function, leading to impairment of cellular respiration and production of lactic acidosis.
If the above mentioned case is true and accurate, the underlying logic and conclusion could be that extra xanthone supplementation through Mangosteen juice consumption could actually be adverse to one’s health.
If one were to take this logic one step further…The Mangosteen is considered the “queen of fruits” in Asia, and happily consumed as a delicious and succulent fruit in Southeast Asia. HOWEVER…the most of the people who eat Mangosteens daily as a fruit discard and throw away the pericarp, which is used in many of these so called “wonder juices.”
The consensus in the overall medical community is that any relation to better health and Mangosteen juice and Xanthone consumption is purely anecdotal.
Interestingly, at the same time, there is now some anecdotal evidence that over-consumption of Xanthone rich juices on a regular basis may have contributed to severe adverse health effects among some long time distributors of one of these health related companies, which would coincide with some of the recent medical evidence. This was recently uncovered while doing due diligence on a new product launch of a major mangosteen based product MLM company.
The bottom line. Making money in a home based business is very enticing. However one’s health is not something one should take for granted and when taking any nutritional or health related product on a regular basis, the possible long term outcome of such action should always be taken into consideration.

In October 2008 the company said that it operated in 24 countries and had more than 1 million independent distributors.
XanGo Juice is a blend of mangosteen aril and pericarp purée with juice concentrates of eight other fruits: apple, pear (juice and purée), grape, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry and cherry.
Other ingredients include citric acid, natural flavor, pectin, xanthan gum, sodium benzoate, and potassium sorbate.
The Associated Press commissioned the Linus Pauling Institute to measure the in vitro antioxidant strength of XanGo juice against retail fruit juices. The antioxidant strength of XanGo measured slightly higher than cranberry juice but lower than black cherry and less than half the value for blueberry juice. However, the value of in vitro analysis of antioxidant strength is in question, as there is no current evidence that antioxidant phytochemicals present in XanGo or other fruit juices actually have functions inside the human body.
In 2002, XanGo founders Aaron R. Garrity, Gordon A. Morton, and Joseph C. Morton (doing business as DBC, LLC) applied for a United States patent (#6730333) for Xango juice; however the application was rejected by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on April 21, 2005.
Marketing materials used to promote mangosteen juice claim more than 20 human health benefits, including “anti-inflammatory,” “anti-microbial,” “anti-fungal,” “anti-viral,” “anti-cancer,” “anti-ulcer,” “anti-hepatotoxic,” “anti-rhinoviral,” and “anti-allergic” effects.
Promotional literature for the product cites antioxidants from the inedible rind of the fruit as providing health benefits. None of these claims, however, has scientific proof established by peer-reviewed research and human clinical trials, as discussed below.

TVI Express blatantly uses the picture and quotes of billionaire investor Warren Buffet but does not expressly say that Warren Buffet endorses or is a part of the company.
Think about it for one second…IF, and that’s a big if…
If Warren Buffet was associated with TVI don’t you think that TVI or Warren himself would say so?
Some people are led to believe that Warren Buffet is a part of TVI or that Buffet owns TVI.
It’s highly doubtful. Warren probably doesn’t know that his name is being used so blatantly, and probably could care less.
It’s very important to use logic and reasoning and a little common sense when doing due diligence on home based business opportunities.

Is Vemma A Good Opportunity?

Vemma is an established Nutritional product network marketing company.
Started around 2004 by B.K. Boreyko in Arizona, Vemma is a spin off of New Vision and combined companies have generated over a billion dollars in product revenue.
Vemma makes premium branded nutrition products. They have excellent, but expensive products…Is Vemma a good opportunity?
Yes and No.
For some, especially those that were previous New Vision heavy hitters, Vemma has turned out to be a great opportunity. For example Tom Alkazin, who is the top income earner in Vemma is reported to earn over a million a year. What Vemma and B.K. don’t tell you is that Tom is a long time family friend of B.K. and B.K.’s late father. They were friends and top distributors in a nutritional company called Matol way back when.
Others built their Vemma business through established networks and have built a very good incomes.
Yet others, for example a doctor that I know, was a top Vemma rep for a couple of years making about $4k to $5k a month have given up their Vemma businesses and are pursuing other opportunities.
I always wonder, if an opportunity is great, why would anyone give it up even after making an average of $4,000 a month residual income?

They have excellent, but expensive products…Is Vemma a good opportunity?

From my personal experience as a former Vemma distributor my opinion is that I found their products to be good but not quite worth the premium price compared to the multitude of other products available. Thus, my opinion is that their products are good but expensive.
As an opportunity, I found that B.K. frequently “tweaked” the comp plan, usually to the disadvantage of newer less established distributors and favored the heavy hitters with established networks.
As a brand, the Vemma brand is strong and the company is strong financially.
Vemma will be a good opportunity even great for some, but others would end up spinning their wheels only to move on to other companies with better overall and immediate potential.
One final thing to consider as far as Vemma as a business is that their “autoship” or monthly qualifier is higher than many other companies.
In the final analysis, if you absolutely love Vemma for the product and would honestly buy it and continue to use it even if their was no opportunity involved, it may be a great opportunity for you.
Or if you plan to stay with the company as an active distributor for years and commit for years to the $100 plus autoships (to potentially get paid at the higher levels), Vemma may be a good opportunity for you.
Remember…product first, affordability and commitment is the key to success in any online business venture, and that includes Vemma.

Pyxism Losing Momentum?

Pyxism is another travel related home based business that entered the market around 2009.
I was asked to take a look at the business from a fellow network marketer and join the pre launch and in my opinion found it lacking in having anything unique or attractive to heavy hitters.
They offer two levels of entry at $349 and another at over $800 total.
For your money you get a vacation package (voucher based, which usually require you to fork out more money when you book). In additional you get a discounted resort week package. Upon further due diligence it was discovered that they use the same booking engine and travel agency that another opportunity called Resorts360 uses.
The resort week pricing offered is good, but there are better deals and better pricing through Dreamstyle Vacation Club.
The biggest factor that made me decline the Pyxism opportunity was the fact that they offer $500 and $1000 cycle bonuses, whereas Dreamstyle Vacation Club offers $5,000 and $20,000 cycle bonuses of which $4k and $16k is paid in cash and the rest is in travel rewards. DSVC also offers fast start bonuses and Pyxism does not.
Pyxism also markets a concept of “teams following their upline” but in fact this concepts limits the overall spillover received. DSVC utilizes matrix boards which include your own team members and spillover from upline not on your team on a first come, first served basis.
Dreamstyle can be started for as little as $100 and $30 a month which produces unlimited $5k cycle bonuses, along with a $400 cruiser package that also includes cruise lines and unlimited cycle bonuses pf $20k.
Many builders from other travel opportunities such as Resorts 360, TVI, Royal Cruise Matrix and Pyxism are moving over to Dreamstyle Vacation Club because of the better vacation values along with the higher commission payouts and lower overall start up costs.

Royal Cruise Matrix Considerations?

Last year I was invited to take a look at Royal Cruise Matrix, another new comer to the home based (travel) business industry.
There were several reasons why I said NO.
1. The person who invited me to take a look was not an experienced marketer.
2. There was no “buzz” about the company or products.
3. Upon doing Due Diligence, some people were concerned about their cruise redemption system and in a nutshell said it was too expensive and cheaper to book a vacation by yourself directly through the cruise lines instead of trying to earn one through RCM Royal Cruise Matrix.
4. Basically the main argument was that there was not a sale of a real product.
In summary, I decided to pass on Royal Cruise Matrix.
Instead I joined another travel company called Dreamstyle Vacations Club which is based in the USA.

Why I Said NO to TVI Express

When TVI Express launched several months ago I was contacted by some networkers and asked to join. However, when I took a look at the program, there were a few things that bothered me about TVI.
The most important points that totally turned me off about TVI Express was the cost of entry and the fact they have virtually no mention of their product.
Even on their main company website, there is not one link pertaining to their product or what they market. As far as I can see, it’s just a massive money game. It’s no wonder they are not based in the U.S.A. because they would have been shut down months ago for promoting a massive ponzi scheme.
Here’s the list of reasons why I said NO to TVI…
1. The cost is higher than other similar programs.
2. The company until recently did not have a physical address on the website. Now their “back office operations” are listed as being in the U.K. and India. I simply prefer to deal with networking companies based out of the U.S. It’s just much easier for me to work with U.S. based companies. Especially as a U.S citizen, I am familiar with the laws and generally more comfortable doing business with U.S. based companies.
3. Their phone number is a U.K. number. In the past I have had bad experiences with online biz opps coming out of the U.K. (Nothing personal. Once burned, twice shy that’s all).
4. This one is kinda personal…Originally, the TVI website had a picture of Warren Buffet, the billionaire investor, on their main page. They had it so that it appeared as if Warren Buffet was endorsing the company. To me, when a company positions themselves to make it sound like they are being endorsed by someone who is not…Not only is it misleading, it’s borderline fraud. Personally, I have no interest in working with companies that blur the line so blatantly. They have moved Warren Buffet’s photo to another page, but Warren Buffet has no affiliation with the company what so ever, and probably doesn’t even know or care his picture is being used so misleadingly.
5. Finally, the company has little or no mention of what they are actually selling. In a nutshell, they are not featuring any product or benefits associated with using their product or service. They company simply revolves around selling the opportunity to more people, but no one is actually promoting or even using a product.
Some people love TVI and have even made money promoting it. Hey, timing is everything. Money in the bank is nothing to scoff at.
However, I prefer opportunities that are based in the U.S. I also as a general rule prefer companies that cost less to join, and most importantly I prefer to work with companies that have a real product that offers either extraordinary value or fantastic benefits. Simply put, I’m still old fashioned. I prefer to lead with product, value and benefits before the opportunity.
One such company that I found is DreamStyle Vacations Club or DSVC. Dreamstyle is based in the U.S. and has members all over the world. It costs about $100 to get started and $30 a month and the product gives anyone who takes a vacation HUGE savings all over the world.

Why I Left Resorts 360

Resorts360 is a fairly new company in the travel home business arena.
I initially joined Resorts 360 because I had been watching another online marketer move from one high profile travel opportunity to Resorts360, and when he joined I thought there was a good reason to join.
At the time there was a great reason. It was less than $30 a month. Paid awesome commissions and had almost everything in place to start gaining momentum.
And then the tinkering began…
Within a few months period the comp plan changed over three times.
The first time, I was a big part of the changes and helped create a draft with Rodger (the owner of R360). I had spent hours of my own time helping him come up with a sensible solution based on shared values.
However over the course of the next several months the company morphed into another $1000 plus dollar opportunity and reversed course from it’s original vision.
Now as of this writing, Resorts 360 sells packages at close to $4000, and a mid package at over $1000 and an annual package at over $395. Plus they started charging for premium websites for associates.
Bottom line, there are better deals in the travel business arena that offer rated resorts at deeply discounted prices with an opportunity that pays well too. One of them (which I found long after I left Resorts 360) is DSVC aka Dream Style Vacations Club.
Dreamstyle Vacations costs only $100 to start and $30 a month and offers multiple $5k and $20k bonuses along with an awesome travel product that offers deeply discounted hot weeks at 3, 4, and 5 star resorts around the world.
Best of all so far, DSVC has not tinkered with their pricing or comp plan except to make it better and pay more.
I had a great time with Resorts 360 and I think Rodger Rutter the owner of R360 is a very nice and very cool person. I would have loved to have a beer with him and chatted it up in person. But R360 just could not produce enough stability and momentum as a biz opp at the time I was involved with them.
On the other hand, DreamStyle Vacations is moving and growing fast and is affordable for the masses. Simply put, I am making more with less effort and maintenance with DreamStyle.

So maybe some people don’t think Silver Snow Ball is a ponzi, but why would anyone pay two and a half times as much for the exact same thing they can get elsewhere? This guy is selling Federally Government minted silver coins at a 2.5 times markup and attaching a referral business to it.
Would you pay $25 to own a $10 bill? This guy is simply selling an investment in silver coins. The problem is the coins are legal tender and U.S. Government issue property.
This is a rhetorical question…
How do you think various government agencies will react when they find out about the Silver Snow Ball business if it even gets enough critical mass to attract any serious attention at all?
My two cents and my final answer? The silver snowball will sooner or later end up melting faster than a snow cone on a sidewalk on a hot summer day.
