Buying it costs about 300 bucks these days even though it isn’t the current version of Dreamweaver.

Now I don’t normally recommend 1 and 1 for hosting because they aren’t the right hosting company for most of my readers.  If you’ve got a static site, don’t need to use mod_rewrite beyond wordpress, and/or are just looking for a cheap way to extend where some of your sites are hosted AND get DW CS4 included it’s hard to pass up.

Did you catch that?  1 and 1 is including DW in their $4.95 per month plan!

You pick a product.  You build a squeeze page.  You write a report.  You gather opt ins with said report.  You market to them until either you or they die

It let’s you build nifty things like Ebay Monster 2

You are welcome to use it of course, but that’s not why I was writing.

Rss Rebound has a hard time importing Ebay Rss Items… and it’s not really the best way to promote an ebay product through rss anyway.

It’s one of the reasons I never made a modual for rss rebound to work with ebay.

Here is the absolute best way to use Rss Rebound and ebay.

Step 1:

Create a blog. Do it for a specific type of product. In my example I’ll use Toasters.

Step 2:

Make 20 posts in your blog about toasters and link through on every one to your ebay affiliate link. Just searching on ebay will give you an idea what people are searching for there in regards to toasters.

You can even make widgets inside the ebay program that show images and other fun stuff. You don’t need to be a content wiz.

Chances are just the descriptions of the toasters you find in Ebay along with just a few words of your own will be enough for this to work for you.

Grab a few reprint rights articles as well and change the titles and add a paragraph or so.

Step 2.5:

Yes a half step! Create another category on your blog, and post a few more posts with images of toasters. Make sure you use alt tags, etc..  These images can really add up to a lot of traffic (maybe not so much with toasters but you get the idea).

Step 3:

Import that rss feed your blog created and add it to rss rebound under it’s own category.

Your blog has a number of feeds available to it. For example if you create 2 categories (toasters and toaster images) you have three feeds. Each category and the main site all have their own feed.

- toastersite.com/feed
- toastersite.com/category/feed <– kinda like that but category is really your category name.

Step 4: Import some other items on toasters with rss rebound…. make sure you use the keyword links and link to those 20 posts you’ve made.

Step 5:

Promote the feed that rss rebound creates AND the feed for the blog.

You are going to be promoting every feed for your blog, and of course the feed you just created with rss rebound.

It won’t take long to create those 20 posts (or even 10). It won’t take long to add to rss rebound. It won’t take long to promote the feeds.

However, you will get a constant stream of new links coming to your toaster site. You will have unique content even if you don’t try hard since you are making the 20 posts about the toasters available on ebay.

Enjoy, and I while this is a simple concept, it’s a pretty powerful strategy that will work great on it’s own, or combined with other marketing methods can propel a site into some serious income.

Ebay Monster 2 – Autopost Ebay Items to WordPress

I’m also releasing the source code for those that want to run their own so it doesn’t give me 10 percent of the links, and/or who want to let others use it and have it benefit them!

For our newer readers who have no clue what Ebay Monster was, and therefore no idea what Ebay Monster 2 is here is what it does:

1.) Connects to your blog via xml-rpc.

2.) Allows you to pick a category.

3.) Allows you to define a keyword and a ebay campaign id.

4.) Allows you to define whether posts are live or drafts.

5.) Posts approx 100 ebay items to your blog allowing you to view them first.

6.) Unless you have the source code and are running it yourself it replaces your campaign id about 10 percent of the time.

Shared hosts are great for spreading out the ip’s – but mission critical (ie your money sites) stuff should not be there.

If you lost it would it hurt?  If so it’s time to:

1.) Make sure you have a great host.  I love liquid web‘s VPS’s.  I also like Wiredtree.  Both have great support.

2.) Make sure you have a back up system in place that is redundant.  In other words actually download your back ups and put em on a disk every now and a then.

Look,  you can fit a whole mess of blogs for example on a 60 dollar VPS from wiredtree.  Buy a couple IP blocks and that turns into a 75 dollar a month server with 14 or so IP addresses.

Worried about being able to manage it?  They do it.  You get a Web Hosting Manager login where you can create sites, then you just do the same thing you’ve always done.

Step it up.  If you ask they will even help you migrate your stuff over to your new server.

I took a few minutes today to fix the cross site vulnerability in php dug 2.0 since it appears that the company that made it no longer exists.  If you’ve already got an install just download, unzip, and replace upcoming.php with what is here.  That is the only file that is changed.

If you know anyone else using this script – just send them here.

I should note that this is not my script, I probably didn’t have the right to do this legally, etc…  However, it appears that http://www.kubelabs.com is no longer maintained and there hasn’t been a fix put out for this yet.  Since it’s a well known exploit and there are a lot of copies of this script floating out there.

I’m at the point where I’m going to be letting some of my script and software sites go to other people.  I just don’t have the time for support anymore.  Since MLC was not my original creation I do not feel comfortable selling it for what it’s worth… I’ve made my money selling copies of it.

So let’s think about what a script that has directly sold 270 copies this year at prices ranging from $27 to $77 is worth…. in other words it’s made about 10k this year.  I could put it on Flippa and probably get at least 10k.

Remember though – I didn’t originally create this, and I want to “pass it on” to the right person.  That means a couple things.

1.)  You should be comfortable outsourcing updates (it’s written in php).  There isn’t anything pressing that must be done.

2.) You should feel comfortable marketing.  A lot of internet marketing forums have your right target market in them.  Think where all the article writers talk – that’s where you want to be.

3.) I’ll explain how the site works, and transfer the domain to your namecheap account.  I’ll also continue to host for 30 days if you need it.

4.) I want this to go to someone who can take care of it, support their customers, and doesn’t want to pay market value

It’s been a few months since I mentioned e-cigs to my readers here.  I had stepped back a bit because I was “sure” the FDA was going to kill them before now.  With an actual lobbying group running, and the obvious benefits of using electronic cigs – well it’s time to be an affiliate if you aren’t already.  If things keep going as well as they are I will be buying my own stock and distributing locally – that’s how good these sell.  And I do more locally than I do on-line.

The e-cig model is a great one, a nice payout on the initial sale, and then recurring income as they buy new cartridges, batteries, etc…  It’s recurring income with the ease of a one time sale.

Something like 25 percent of America Smokes – and a good portion of those are ladies.  I target them – and only them.  Why?  Well guys are different and eventually they stop using the cartridges and move on to more complicated (but cheaper) alternatives.  Women on the other hand don’t want to mess with vaping, or a bunch of techie crap  (maybe they are smarter than us).

That means I promote LUCI and just about nothing else.  They are based in the U.S., conversions are good, and the packaging is attractive (if a little feminine).
