I’ve always been a sucker for a good Elseworlds tale or even one about a parallel universe so I think the idea of DC bringing new tales from new universes into the New 52 is a good one. Now we have a tale coming out about ‘President Superman’ who, by the way, appears to look more like Muhammad Ali than Obama. I’m not sure how I feel about it. Afros and Braids on Krypton? Of course I would prefer an entirely original new Black Superhero but I’m willing to check this out. It’s only a back-up story anyway set to show up in the upcoming Action Comics #9. Then there’s this black and white picture that shows up on DC’s website. What do you think?

What is Metal Hurlant Chronicles? The best that I can tell is that it’s some kind of sci-fi epic with more than a little similarity to Heavy Metal. It seems to have begun as a science fiction anthology magazine published in France. Why am I even bringing it up? Well apparently it’s being adapted to a live action TV series with some interesting names, not the least of which is Michael Jai White. I can’t find an official website for the project but there is a Facebook page with a bunch of photos and I did find an article about the show. There’s this teaser trailer too. I think it’s worth a look. What do you think?

I’d like to get your take on the Ultimate Falcon. He hasn’t really had a chance to set Marvel’s Ultimate universe on fire but I rather enjoy his limited appearances. Recent rumblings make me think that he’ll get a chance to shine in the near future. Unlike his Marvel 616 predecessor, this Falcon is much more interesting. First of all he is no sidekick. He’s also a genius. He invented his own wings. Last but not least, he doesn’t wear spandex. How cool is that? I’m not trying to put the original Falcon down. I got mad love for all my Black Superheroes. I just like this new version of the character much better and I really hope they do him justice. I’m trying to stay positive about this too because in the Ultimate universe, anyone can die. That being said, what chance does a Black man really have in that universe? Look at what they did to the Black Hulk. If I believed it would help, I’d definitely keep my fingers crossed.

Are you as hyped up about the debut of Blade Anime as I am? Truth be told I was originally feeling so-so about it but now I’m starting to really look forward to it. The video clip below helps. As you may already know, The Rock has been cast as Roadblock in the upcoming G.I.Joe movie. The real question is whether or not it will be a movie worth seeing. Check out the trailer below and judge for yourself.
