New England Sakura Photography, Cinematography, N Ambient Music

2022-09-02T18:01:00.005-04:00

During the 2020-2021 Pandemic Lockdown I shot a series over several days, while suffering from anemia, of Cherry Blossoms in different months because each type of tree blossoms at different times or under different weather conditions. Unfortunately I missed out on some of the best shooting conditions in 2020 for obvious reason despite mostly perfect weather that year. I also caught 2-3 nasty flu viruses that year (no, it wasn't COVID).

I got 2 new lenses in 2021, including a Cinema Lens by Rokinon & an Art Lens by SIGMA.

My main focus was to get B-Roll Footage for my Relaxation Content on my YouTube Channels. But, I also shot stills. When I submitted my film "Succor Forlorn" to Film Festivals, I actually learned so much that I didn't even KNOW that several Film Festivals actually had Photography Contests. 1 of the AMAZING aspects of the world of Indie Films is THE PEOPLE, and several of the Scouts would actually ask me to submit my photography.

So, the Sakura Project DID ACTUALLY win a few awards and also got an "Official Selection" which mean it was featured at the Festival, much like a Gallery Exhibit.

Wissahickon Falls Babbling Brook ASMR Philadelphia

2022-06-17T20:31:00.006-04:00

Here is an ASMR video I produced.

I shot this footage with my little brother Ken in 2020 down in Greater Philadelphia. But, I couldn't really post it because people were too upset about going outside during the pandemic.

I'm open to doing more, I shot a number of clips from this location.

Boho Chic Decor Tipsy TV Project 2018

2020-08-11T20:35:00.008-04:00

Usually I post this sort of stuff to my other blogs like my Boho blog or my Main Art Blog, but I felt like I was neglecting this blog a bit. Anyways, I'm down in Philadelphia and my dad's house has fast internet, unlike my home, so, I'm uploading stuff here.

But, back in 2018 I invested in some new equipment and shot quite a lot of experiments, photos, B-roll footage and more. I shot stuff for my own TV Show projects at WCA9 and also for my friend's film "The Holy Maple Tree". I bought a 50mm prime lens, a camera crane jib, a floating head video tripod, and even rented a CANON 135 f/2 lens, got a an Action Camera, and many other things.

1 of the TV Shows I worked on was "Tipsy TV" which I made the intro graphics & footage for and eventually became THIS:

That project crashed N burned.... (I didn't really want to work much on the project, because it wasn't mine, but I knew most of the people that did work on it.) but my work was the only good part. So, I repurposed it for my own project the way I wanted it:

Here's the original test footage work I did. I worked on this a lot.

It was a very very very long series of nights and days of discussions about what the head Creator/Director/Producer wanted. Anyways, I was never paid for it, and I own all of my footage, plus the producer canceled their project.

The photography I made during those experiments and practice sessions which was several days and nights during a major nor'easter blizzard, got awards and high ranks in my GuruShots.

Wissahickon Trail Philadelphia

2020-08-11T10:01:00.002-04:00

I'm visiting my father down here in Philadelphia. (He has fast internet/wifi which is why I'm uploading so much this morning, my internet in Greater Boston is awful, n by this point most things won;t even upload.) Last night I went with my brother on the Wiassahickon Trail. These I shot on my Samsung Galaxy which backed up to my Google account.

But, my DSLR photos can't upload to this laptop because I didn;t bring the cable, n there's no SD card port on it either. So, I'm S.O.L.!

I used my 50mm Prime lens (pancake).

Key West Florida Southernmost Point Pre-Lockdown March 2020

2020-08-11T09:29:00.002-04:00

Yes, I ACTUALLY went down to Florida this year, IN MARCH, with my Dad, LITERALLY RIGHT BEFORE LOCKDOWN. We also went to the Florida Keys and especially Key West. In fact, we left a day early.

Florida is especially challenging for my to photograph because it's in the Tropics and more sunlight so I'm not accustomed to this kind of light exposure. There's more light density there. I find I OFTEN hate all my photos when I'm down there.

Old South Union Church Pantry Garden

2020-08-11T09:06:00.005-04:00

I often play Pokemon Go here. I nominated this garden to be a POkeStop opn the Niantic Wayfarer, which got approved... however, someone moved the point into the wrong cell so u can't play it in PoGo. Only in Ingress.

Shot these on my new Samsung Galaxy S10e which actually has decent HDR AI algorithm technology

South Field- Union Point Film Equipment Spring-Summer 2020

2020-08-11T08:55:00.006-04:00

So, there's been a lot of movement at South Field by the Hangar (AKA The Hang Out) over in SOuth Filed (Union Point) with a security detail. They're been moving around quite a bit. My friend, Roland, also went there and saw it himself. (We're both filmmakers.)

I play Pokemon Go over there, n I mentioned this to the players n 1 of the players in the Discord server confirmed they were official crew on that film project for Disney. They alleged they were the LAST crew before quarantine lockdown (March/April). However, there's been a significant uptick in in activity there since May, tents and everything.

High Key Lilacs Vintage 1970s Lens Experiements in Lockdown 2020

2020-08-11T00:18:00.009-04:00

As you can see, these were all originally shot in High Key.... not actually my style, and also not originally intentional. But, not bad. I tend to prefer more color saturation tho.

It's fine if you like High Key, and sometimes I do that by accident, but I shot them in high key to maintain the Depth of Field which was letting is a LOT of light exposure making it very white washed. I elected to keep it in High Key for the entire shoot, then processed them myself. I wasn't sure what the post processing would look like, but I like them. I just like my saturated processed photos more. I just usually don;t care for low key or high key that much but they are interesting styles of photography.

Spring Lilacs Vintage 1970s Lens Experiments Durring Lockdown 2020

2020-08-11T00:05:00.005-04:00

These were a series of subjective experiments I shot back in the Spring using 2 different adapters for my old vintage 1970s lens on my EOS CANON 70D. IN my neighborhood in South Weymouth Mass.

I processed them in: Adobe Light Room, Camera RAW, and Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud 2020.

I've also shot some on my 50mm prime lens (pancake).

I've had a Profile on GuruShots for a few years and have several high ranks and awards on it, and recently my 500Pix Account.

Test Footage Filming at Hidden Pond in Hingham MA

2018-06-25T23:21:00.001-04:00

Behind Wholefoods at Derby Street Shops in Hingham MA is a little spot called "Hidden Pond". I was there this evening before sunset, and most of the cool carved sculptures were gone. Very disappointing.

But, I did manage to get some video footage B-Roll on my action camera/camcorder the AKASO EK7000.

I also got bit a lot by mosquitoes.

The World's End Park in Hingham MA

2018-06-21T00:21:00.000-04:00

It turns out that The World's End is actually a REAL PLACE, and it's in Hingham Massachusetts not far from where I live.

It's right here on Yelp too.

Well, I've been scouting out shooting locations for a cosplay atistic style of TV show for WCA9 TV in Weymouth, and 1 place I wanted VERY MUCH to check out was The World's End, which is actually a private property nonprofit Park.

It's ALSO NOT FREE.

But, the reviews and photos of The World's End park were amazingly gorgeous! And, it it was highly rated.

My friend, and co-director, Roland, drove up there with me today, and they lady in the little hunt talked to us, and I even had to sign a waver. It's at least $6 per person, and $100 for a wedding, and there's also a membership price if you want that.

She was very kind, and generous and spoke to us for quite a while, and even gave me a lot of information, literature, and so on, and generously allowed us to take some sample photos.

Unfortunately, the lighting today was not ideal, and very cloudy. But, I did manage to get a lot of interesting footage.

It's SUPER CLEAN too. No liter at all.

If I had funds to shoot here I would.

I'm very grateful for letting us walk around and take some photos.

Webb Memorial Park in North Weymouth Test Photos for Filming

2018-06-20T23:15:00.002-04:00

Boston Skyline: This photo was shot using my new zoom lens

I've been shooting a lot of test footage for a TV show I'm producing for WCA9 TV in Weymouth (MA). SO, I've been scouting places to film at.

These are several of the test shoots from the test filming & B-Roll I shot up at Webb Memorial Park in North Weymouth which is a favorite place of mine.

I used 2 different lenses for these. The lighting wasn't quite what I wanted, but it wasn;t terrible. I brought all my filters with me.

Read Kandice Z.'s review of Webb Memorial State Park on Yelp

If these cliffs look different, it's because THEY ARE. Durring the massive storms like super hurricanes, nor'easters, and blizzards part of the mountain cliffs broke off, and fell into the bay. In the spot above, last year, there were benches and picnic tables. But now it's fenced off.

North Weymouth Wessagussett

2015-06-16T11:20:00.000-04:00

After we spent time at Webb Park, we drove down the road to Wessagussett beach, which I'm not sure of whether it's part of Geat Hill Park or what?

There was a giant crane doing some kind of construction work which was really different.

The people on the beach by the Yacht Club were the nicest, friendliest folks I have EVER met anywhere at random in Weymouth EVER! It was so strange for me, since everyone is usually a jerk, rude, stuck-up, cold, snippy, grumpy, or nasty.

People actually asked how old my daughter was, her name, complimented her bikini, and told me she was cute... and she's not in diapers anymore, so that's just strange around here... I've been to so many local functions, festivals, events, and people are never as sweet as this... I'm talking, like, normal human being behaviors. Yes, seriously!

水 Flowing Waters of Spring [South Field) 001

2015-05-22T00:00:00.000-04:00

So, these are the color version I shot at South Field... IMHO they aren't as good as my B&W ones.... even tho' those r dark n sorta creepy...

You can find some of these on my Flikr gallery if you want to see some on there also.

These remind me very much of this song by Erasure from my favorite album by them "I Say I Say I Say":

Water has always been a major focus in my work from time to time, other times it's Air/Wind, or Light (which often ties into WATER), and all of these can be earthy yet also ethereal or esoteric simultaneously. *shrugs* Whatever, I'm just me....

Another thing these remind me of are a Poem I wrote in high school (mid 1990s) but for some reason it doesn't allow embedding of poems from DeviantArt anymore.
Here's the link to my poem which has 2 parts. It's "Part 2" which reminds me of these...

I have more but, I think this enough for one entry...

Water Flow [South Field]

2015-05-21T12:37:00.000-04:00

Like I was saying in the previous blog entry... I walked all the way to South Field, which altho' it's a long distance, it's a long long walk, even tho' I practically live next to it... it's an old naval Air Base which is allegedly not in use (yeah right), which has some areas that had toxic chemical spills, and the JUST BUILT a whole neighborhood inside and sold EVERY unit to richards. Way to go! American capitalism!

Anyways, much of the place I wild and grown over, and they no longer grow crops on the farmland area (probably due to toxic waste spill scandal).

Anyways, I specifically walked there with the intent of doing some reflection/water studies, and experiments. I had some SLR filters on also, and shot everything manually, with the intent on gray scale study/focus. I did manage to get color shots, but the mood and feel is different and won;t be included here at all in this entry. (You could check my Flikr gallery for some, tho'.)

There are all kinds of waterways passing through South Field. Much of them are drainage ways that flow to the "Great Pond" Reservoir, one of several in Weymouth, since the founders of this "town" which is now legally a "city". There are also wetlands and marches all over the place.

This one was this fast moving canal that is very wide, and has the clearest of water compared to the other waterways.

In order to see this one, the ground is raised up, so, you must climb it, and you can see what, to the untrained eyes looks like a lake or a pond...

See how it appears to end? Like it's a pond?
Actually, it's a canal, and it moves fast, and travels underground.
If you scout out the terrain, you can see what I mean. There's even some kind of pipe-work running above ground, which you can see.

From here you can see the airbase plane hanger.... which is allegedly not in use, and condemned... except whenever ANY president, vice president, secretary of state, or any bigwig from D.C. comes to the state, it swarms with choppers for days. We had dignitaries from Iran here just a few weeks ago, and this place was so loud with activity.

Anyways, I like these shots, they turned out very nice. :)

Reflections [South Field]

2015-05-20T11:04:00.003-04:00

Reflections

I planned these ahead of time, but had to wait for the right weather. I walked all the way to South Field (MA) and shot these. My lower back was KILLING ME.

Anyways, these wouldn't have the same feeling or mood if they were in color.... so, that's what i was experimenting with....

The Creepy Storm Clouds

2015-05-20T10:25:00.001-04:00

It doesn't show it here, because my SLR had 2-3 filters on it... but, these clouds actually had a weird creepy greenish hue to them which was freaking everyone out. (No, I don't feel like changing it either.)

The air smelled of smoke, and fumes also... and the thunder was extra loud long before the rain actually hit us.

The rain came down very hard, and the parking lot flash flooded a bit...

Creepy, huh?

Dark Sakura

2015-05-20T10:09:00.002-04:00

This was what I was TRYING to photograph.... had the clouds not abruptly appeared, the angle of the sunlight would've had these blossoms glowing quite gloriously like they were on fire... almost! These are the red crab-apple sakura!

During the day, the sunlight wasn't right, or in shade. But, the storm came n washed them away...

Ominous Stormfront

2015-05-20T09:50:00.003-04:00

As usual, just when the angle of the sunlight and the weather is JUST PERFECT, out of nowhere, everything gets overcast, and wouldn't you know it a storm front rolls in!

Of curse, the storm washes away the blossoms, and I get this stuff instead...

Still think New England has charm, do you?
