Manually Enter Grades

Question: Is it possible to record grades all at once? In the old version of Blackboard (Version 7.3), by clicking on the name of the assignment, it was possible to simply go through and add grades all at once.

Answer: You can click in the box to quickly enter a grade, press Enter, and then continue down the column for each student (see image to the left), but the view you are asking about is no longer an option.

Copy Content from a GOLD course into a Course SHELL

To Copy Content from a GOLD course into a Course SHELL at the start of each semester:

1. Go into your course that contains your content, either a GOLD course or a course you have previously taught from.
2. Go to the Control Panel
3. Click on the chevron next to Packages and Utilities to expand the menu
4. Click Course Copy
5. Select "Copy Course Materials into an Existing Course"
6. Choose Destination Course ID by clicking the "Browse" button
7. Select your empty course SHELL
8. Check the boxes next to course materials you want to copy
(NEVER choose to "Include Enrollments in the Copy")
8. Click Submit
9. You will receive an email when the copy process is complete.

Make Your Blackboard Course Available to Students

You have the option of making your course available at the beginning of the semester and unavailable at the end of the semester.

All course shells are made available on the first day of class for the semester, if the instructor has not made the course available previously.

Likewise, courses for the previous semester automatically close to students the Friday before courses begin for the next semester.

To make your course available:

Go to the course you wish to make available to students.
Under the Control Panel, click on Customization.
Click on Properties.
Scroll down the page to Option 3, Set Availablity.
Select "Yes."
Click Submit.

Where is My Course?

Courses from Summer 2006 - Spring 2010 are located on the Blackboard Archives Server (http://bbarchives.uis.edu).

To move your course from the Blackboard Archives server to the new Blackboard server, please follow the steps below.

Prepare your Gold course.
Don't have a gold course? Email colrs@uis.edu to request a copy of your current courses for modifying/copying.

Turn off grading in all discussion forums.
Discussion Board > Modify Forum > Forum Settings > No grading in forum > Submit

Request COLRS to move your course.
Email colrs@uis.edu to request your course to be copied to the the new Blackboard server (http://bb.uis.edu).

Let us know the course(s) you wish to have copied.
Let us know if you wish for announcements to be copied.
All content areas, discussion boards, and tests/surveys/pools will be copied by default.
The Gradebook will NOT copy to Blackboard 9.

Update your course.
Consider implementing some of the new features of Blackboard 9.

Consider the Module/Unit format that fits your course organization. Placing all course content in a single location makes it easy for your students to navigate and find all the course information.
New tools: Home Page, Blogs, Journals, Group Assignments
No Digital Dropbox.

Recreate the elements you decide to keep.

Assignment manager assignments and Turnitin Assignments will NOT copy to Blackboard 9.
Tests and Surveys will need to be redeployed to content areas. The tests, surveys, and pools themselves copy; they simply need to be redeployed.

June 4 by 10 a.m. - Students uploaded to Summer 2010 courses

June 7 by 8:30 a.m. -Summer 2010 courses open

June 22 - Course sites for Fall 2010 created and faculty enrolled.
