So, I just got Final Cuts Pro 10, THANKS MOM AND MARK!!! I Love it. I used to use Pinnacle Studios 14 and I may still use it for odds and ends that I haven't learned yet how to do with Final Cuts or the intro that I made in Pinnacle I think I'll still use on occasion until I can figure out how to recreate a new one with my new program!! I do Really love Final Cuts and Totally look forward to catching up on editing lots more videos!!

I have been a little let down when I post a video and it is good just not so much crafting or what have you and I get thumbs downs and an overall feeling that I have been unappreciated. I do post these video for the fun. I may be earning revenue and I'm grateful it, however it takes time to earn enough to make it a career. I hope that some day soon my pennies with become dollars. With all that said I decided to add in some entertaining bits of video to keep my viewer's attention. So hope you enjoy and if you are one of my loyal viewers THANKS also if you see one of my videos that have ads PLEASE take the time to check out the ads, they pay the way to my financial freedom! If my videos have ever disappointed you in the past...well I can't apologize for something I am proud of.

I am really PROUD of this video and I hope that you enjoy it and share it with all your friends! Check out the ads on this blog and the videos I post. Thanks to all my fans!!

About this video: In HS I was taking lots of honors classes and I had lots of textbooks I had lots of other things to carry in my backpack and I had back pains from the weight of my bag so it was in my best interest to carry my books rather that put them in my backpack. I had to caver them anyways and there were bags with handles in with the saved brown paper bags and it just clicked. I used this technique two years in a row and never had any problems. I love it. even though My books are smaller now that I'm in college again I still like to carry them this way

THANKS! ALLISON!!
I have framed my basement when we remodled it, I have built a chicken coop and other constrution like tasks. I also love to paint an have always loved the idea of faux painting techniques

Here is the lovely craft table that I have refurbished. It originally was an aviary that I had to take apart to remove it from my old room when I moved out of my parents house. The pieces had been sitting in my garage for years, I finally used the old pieces to made a craft table instead. Since the type of wood was not solid, it is 5 layer plywood like A/B, I think (meaning that one side was an "A" quality and the other side was a "B" quality finish). I didn't want to finish it with varnish or anything like that, I decided to paint it instead.

I'm sure you've notice the hole on the end... it was originally there so that I could have a shallow Tupperware bucket in it so that my birds would have a place for their food bowls. If you birds, they are messy eaters and I always disliked it when they jump in their dish and kick food around, so the Tupperware collects what they kick out and there is no loss of food or mess.<img border="0" height="300" m$="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_LML8MkgZr4/Th0u6sFwkOI/AAAAAAAAAjs/6pJSGLOuMas/s400/089+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" />

<img border="0" height="150" m$="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6Xvag8tC6KU/Th0uwfMkffI/AAAAAAAAAjo/FzapZFeX-O0/s200/092+%25282%2529.JPG" width="200" />

<img border="0" height="150" m$="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vaCA_fbKZr4/Th0vB_M6JeI/AAAAAAAAAjw/Ny7Q8ko-C9I/s200/090+%25282%2529.JPG" width="200" /> I happen to keep my 12 x 12 pattern papers in two Tupperware buckets, like a filing system. The two buckets fit in the hole perfectly and I like having the pattern papers close by. It is a nice way to store my papers. I do have more than the buckets will hold and I am losing some table space, but good thing the buckets fit into the table and the table is quite large.

The faux finish looks much neater in person, but that is a given I suppose. For some reason I like checker patterns. They are easy to create and in small amounts or large scale they look really cool. Maybe because they work because you need two colors to make it work and the combinations that can be made and the way they look in that pattern to me is just awesome.

Well I suppose there is really no need to have a video on here if you are just going to be reading anyways but then again you get to read with more entertaining lettering...

Ok so the point of this video was really to announce what has been happening while Black Cat Scraps was taking a mini vacation and Well, It starts like this...

A month before my 25th birthday I made a request/ wish that I wanted to reach 1,000 Subscribers by June 10th. I kinda thought I wouldn't get it and maybe that is why, I knew that I would get at least more than average though. I was sitting at 496 subs or so, I think. So I did do a giveaway for reaching 500 subs. I had a rocky time right before my birthday and really needed some time to just myself. I spent time away from my kids and my husband. I reflected on myself, on where and who I wanted to be. I worked on letting things go, resentment and judgements I passes on people. Personal story short, I grew and I feel I am in a much happier state. I was still really bummed about now reaching my goal and it seemed that I actually lost more subscribers in that month than I did the whole 9 months prior. I understand that some people subscribe and then unsubscribe, it just seemed like I was really getting rained on. It also felt like I was doing all this work for nothing. I had applies for partnership a week or so before my birthday and I was turned down. I knew I wasn't ready yet for it but I was applying for one video in particular, The sexy slit back t-shirt recon. It was reaching 8,000 views and I thought it would be eligible for revenue.

So I was working really hard on my videos, staying up til 3 am to get them finished and posted, not reaching my goal, felt like more people were unsubing, I was turned down for partner, and all the videos that I said I was going to post were all edited and just needed voice over and music, well my editing program crashed and the files were corrupted and now program is very testy. I was really sad. so I thought that it would be best to relax and take a break from posting videos and take a vacation from "play" which started to feel like work.

so, weeks after my birthday when, I started to get my application in for school, and right after my husband and I came back from his second mountain bike race all banged up with a fractured foot, I received an email from You Tube congratulating me and saying I can earn revenue form my videos. Which made me want to make this video announcing the exciting news! I wish it was me in front of the camera instead but it was just easier and faster for me to do it this way.

I am working on getting back on track and playing again. I do feel like the creativity is coming back and I am really excited about school because I am going to take all the art classes they have to offer, not all at once though, and share them with you all. I am also going to take MGD (Multimedia Graphic Design) classes to help improve my video production quality. I do want to earn a degree and maybe a certificate but for mow I will play as long as I can. Degrees come later. So I plan on majoring in Art and major/minor in Videography!

Where do you hang your shoes?

Do you like to take your shoes off by the couch?

First off what is a cane?
well a cane is a long roll of baked polymer clay that is rolled out to the thickness of a #2 pencil (on average). Canes normally have a design in them if you look at the flat part of the cane ends or slices.

What do you do this a cane?

When a pre-cane is ready to be rolled out the roll is about the size of a plum (for lack of a better fruit) and can be anywhere between an inch to inches long. It depends on how many canes you want when you are done and what you are comfortable working with. You can make different things from different size circles. You can roll your cane out to the size of buttons and slice them the thickness you want, put in your two or four holes and bake. You can use any size roll, slice and add a hole through the side of the cane to make jewelry flat beads. TRADITIONALLY canes are used in nail art. The pencil size cane is sliced very thin, making really thin circles with cute designs in them. Typically you'll see flowers, fruit and a few others.

The first attempt I made at making Fimo (which is a brand of polymer clay) was a flower, hot pink and black. I used Sculpy III clay and I used about a half package total. They turned out alright. I didn't build up the outer layer color and when I rolled it out parts of the flower became the outer wall. I did however do a really good job on the center. I am really proud of that.

The second attempt was not an attempt because I didn't try I did. So second go was the skull and cross bones. Which for most of the time making it I remembered to that pictures.

So here they are
My skull and crossbones

I made a circle and the cut it in half,
pushed in the area where the eyes go
and then added black rolls

The nose I use a thin black roll and then I added to Pink rolls the same size on making a triangle of the three looking down the rolls. I then shaped it into a triangle. Like the triangle shaped pencils but much smaller.I had the black part of the triangle at the bottom. I also made an indent on the skull piece where the nose would go so it would fit.

For the teeth I flattened out some clay with my

pasta machine black and the hot pink. I layered them alternating colors and then cut it the length of my roll and about 1/4 of an inch wide. I fitted the skull in the area I wanted it. I would fill the empty space around the skull with little rolls of black until mu skull fit where I wanted it with no air spaces. Other wise the air space would collapse when I roll it out and the image would be distorted. I the filled the outer parts until I had a circle. I added a thick layer of hot pink to the outer.

A few ideas for these really cute butterfans.
Besides having them for a scrapbook page or a card you can also make these bigger and have an arrangement of them on a wall. very pretty.

-or-

One year I made the to half a purple and the bottom half a lavender color and had added purple wire for the antena. I added string and gave them to all the separate houses in the family for christmas as a tree ornament! I also made small purple paper bags with a butterfly stamp and filled them with chocolates and Young Living's Lavender chapstick (my favorite by the way!). For my grandma since she getting old and doesn't care to have a tree up any more I made her a butterfan but I added a skewer stick instead so that she could stick it in one of her indoor potted plants. she still has it.

I think I also adde a dangle charm to the "tail" of the butterfan. with beads or something.

closed Giveaway number 2!!!! FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE HAVING PROBLEMS COMMENTING ON BLOGGER.
This may help, I think blogger may be having problems though, cause I tried leaving a comment and it gave me the login runaround.
I found a question someone posted regarding a problem posting comments on blogger the answer i found was
"I see that you use Firefox. Do you have third party cookies enabled? In some comment formats, it is necessary to have third party cookies enabled in Firefox."
the person who posted this question said it was the answer so try this if you are having problems.

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Blackcatscraps/~3/jcR83ajaRVI/giveaway-number-2-see-items-here.html" title="closed Giveaway number 2!!!! just wanted to express some thanks to everyone out there in the world who has watched this video Thanks. It is the most popular video on my channel and i am very proud of it.
I really want to make a few more of these but I can't pick which ideas I want to use. Finding the right shirt makes a differences too. I just got a do it.

This idea is really easy to do. there are some shirts that I recommend that you don't use.

shirts that work:
regular cotton T's work great, long sleeve or short sleeve
especially shirts with no side seams

ok shirts to use
elastic type stretch shirts work ok if they are not snug fit.

shirts that don't work
Sweaters
ribbed shirts like A shirts (white wide strapped undershirts)

Tools that make this job easier. Fabric scissors or brand new regular scissors. Fabric requires a sharp edge to cut it so scissors used to cut up paper are too dull a will make working difficult.

a rotary cutter will work too. just put some thing thick or difficult to cut along the edge point where you are cutting to as a stop so that you don't roll too far and cut more than you need.

Sleeve options you can cut the sleeves in several different ways, slits like in the video, you can "knit"(I use the word knit because that is the same concept of what kitting is based off of) the slits or you can leave them alone.
Another way to cut up the sleeves is using a brick pattern. By making one slit and then two small slits like a dashed line parallel to the first slit with the two point of the second row of slits is in the center of the first. just like bricks. You could also cut the sleeves in an altering pattern either on the sides or top of you arm and bottom. so each row is either on the top and the next row is center in the back. you may want to keep the length of the cut for this style short so that it will be easier to put your arm through the sleeve.

If finding a shirt with a graphic design that you like is difficult then you can always get a blank canvas and add fabric paint, dye, spray paint or acrylic paint. even some fruits stain and could help you add some design.

Thanks always for stopping by and see you around!

Are you Too Cute for summer?

It's going to be hot this summer and you may need to wear your hair up to keep cool. I have worn mine inplace of the normal hair tie and I just feel cute. The girls comment on them all the time. I only use goodie ouchless elastics and I only use them in the hair ties I make. I love these, to make them and play with all the ribbon and to try different styles and color combinations.

I have been working really hard on catching up and having videos ready a week in advance. I have also resolved the MAJOR technical difficulties I was facing. YEAY. I may just post the third after I do a few non embellishment topics. I think I am going to do pattern papers next for a little bit.

ScrapGenious: how to make Butterflies of metal

   Scrap ingeniously with ScrapGenious

If you have ever wanted to make your own embellishments for a project for scrapbooking or a card here are some really fun and simple ways to make some butterfly embellishments by just using either a light gauge wire or using pliers and paper clips.

If you have it around like I do, from all the parties I have saved them from, you can use tissue papers to add color to these butterflies. Also in my local grocery store I can find tissue paper in the gift and card section, so I'm sure your grocer should have it too. These butterflies also make wonderful window decorations!

This video is actually part one of making butterflies I had a whole other half to this video that I decided to cut shorted cause that video was 17 min long. So there is another juicy part coming soon. I haven't decided the timing schedule of the ScrapGenious series yet nor when I want to incorporate other non project videos.

If you follow me on you tube and would like to make a suggestion on when you would like the regular scheduled videos to be along with the ScrapGenious vids feel free to comment below!

Here are my thoughts,

Mondays: ScrapGenious
Thursdays: Card vid

or Tuesdays: ScrapGenious
    Fridays: Card vid

SOCKS! Having daughters ROCKS!

I love socks. I LOVE SOCKS. When ever I have a really bad day and need to have a pick me up it always feels good to go shopping. Well, when I was younger shopping for sock was my guitly pleasure. It is the one ting for me that gets dirty really quick so having a nice crisp white pair fresh out of the dryer is so devine.

Today I bought my oldest, Shiori, some socks. There was no bad day involved or the need for a pick me up but teh fact that everytime I'd reach in her sock drawer and get her out a pair of scoks there were like three pairs that still fit her and they were no where to be found. Her feet seem to be larger than the average 4t. Her great grandmother just bought her socks for her 4th birthday that were marked her size. the were specifically saposed to fit 4t but they were FAR from it. the fit the 2 year old better.

So at Target I was on a mission to find socks that were going to fit. Went to the little girl section and found bunches of pairs that were sized by shoe rather that age. size 9-2.5 shoe worked out much better and I found here a cute belt in that section too. But back to the scoks. I got her 3 packs each with 7 pairs, tie diye and days of the week!!!! I also got her some knee highs that were supper cute.

Thinking of You Tube by: Black Cat Scraps

I have been working on a new intro for my videos... I also am starting a new craft series called ScrapGenious (genious spelled that way as in ingenious) The concept of the series will be crafting in all levels of supply access meaning that this is for the crafters that have little to no access to traditional craft supplies like stamps, inks, pattern papers, embellishments etc. you get the idea. So the beginning of the series will cover embellishments. I will show how to improvise by using anything and everything you can get your hands on and turn it into an embellishment.

With that said, I had some clips that I was working on for the intro and for the new series, I went into the craft room to get more footage and I ended up making an entire card using emphasised filming. I edited this video into a really neat short and thought that I might as well make this as an intro to the new intros that you will see in the up coming videos!

I hope everyone who watches this video enjoys it and shares it with someone or many. That would be greatly appreciated.

My family and I have this dish at least twice a week, it is that good. LOVE IT. I love to cook and I love to make up new dinners for my family to eat. I get board with the same thing every day so it seems that once a month a new combination arises. Either a spin off of a n old one or a new creation altogether.

You will need:
1 pack of chicken breast ( the one that comes with two breasts)
Well, I have been working on several different types of jewelry! Seed bead was on of my favorite things I used to do as a kid and teenager. I have been inspired to get out all my beads and make one of the most popular items I used to make for my friends. FLOWERS! I have all kinds of color beads and can make them in any combination. I used toggle clasps, lobster claps, I make them as bracelets, anklets, chokers, and necklaces. sometimes I make them into earrings so that they match the necklaces. I have also come across some really nice beads. They have what looks like a frosted finish and they look so classy.

The chokers can come with a chain attached so that the size can be adjusted. Tight choker or short necklace. Also it is really easy to add a charm to these. just clip it on right in between any of the flowers.

A pattern of 10101010 or 110011001100 endless combination. There can also be a durastic color swap at the center of the choker or necklace for a focal point.
I have always played with paper, scissors and glue. I used to hand sew little wallets together out of fabric and add on buttons when I was five. I would watch my mom make polymer clay beads for a necklace she was making. I fell in love with origami and would try to make them as small as I could. I often had to use toothpicks to fold them. I am easy to get gifts for. Hobby Lobby/Michael’s gift cards or pretty much everything that had anything to do with art. I was entered into 4 or 5 art shows starting with a clown I drew in the 1st grade, to a drawing in middle school, to a ceramic frog with Pikachu tails and sunglasses in high school. I took violin lessons for 10 years and also learned some guitar. I played some of the Christmas music for my You Tube videos (Black Cat Scraps). I first learned to sew on a machine when I was 12 and got my first sewing machine for my 13th birthday! I made a ring bearer’s pillow and an extravagant garter for my sister’s wedding. I sewed fancy stitching on all of my pants then and still have that machine today. I learned to knit when I was in the 9th grade and started to track my hours of knitting to earn a half credit for a gifted and talented program. I think I did this three times…I basically graduated with more credits than I needed. I have knitted a fancy pattern for a pillowcase, knitted a blanky for myself and two oversized king throws that are really hard to throw, husband loves them.

I have always been athletic, was a body builder/ weightlifter in high school and had a max squat of 205 lbs. so proud! I could also bench my weight. I love yoga and it is my savior. For some reason I get pains in my lower back, probably from the bowling league I was on or all the bowling I did throughout my child hood, or maybe it was from landing on my tailbone. Whichever the cause Yoga has been the only thing that has ever helped especially long term.

As much as I have enjoyed traveling to everywhere I always love coming home to COLORADO, love it here and I feel my roots go deep (meaning I will always live here). Some it odd when I tell them that I have never been up to the ski areas and skied or snowboarded even though I live in Colorado. Well, there used to be a very large hill at the bottom of the street from us and as a kid every year all the kids in the neighborhood would sled down the mountain. When I was nine or ten the hill was developed on and there went that. Years later my parents moved into that development and we lived there until I turned 17. Then they found a beautiful home on a bigger hill called Green Mountain. Now that I have a family of my own guess where I live. One block away from both of the houses I grew up in. Cute. I know. Just thinking the other day at how many of the houses in the neighborhood I have actually been in. 12, which is a lot.

I am a renaissance woman! I have changed all 8 spark plugs on a ‘67 Chevy Nova and replaced the starter, (ironically enough none of this happened with my father around but my step dad). My husband and I have replaced the roof of our house ourselves, we tore down the poorly built basement of the house we bought, framed it, hung the drywall, put in rounded corners, applied the putty, paid some one to texture (which honestly I’ll just do myself next time), and painted. And then added more paint in patterns! We have also replaced the siding and put on stucco instead! There is also a side of our house that originally had no windows so we installed some ourselves, that took a lot of work.

My dad was into sprint cars and raced his own dragster that he built in our garage. From birth ‘til about the age of eight I was at the tracks every Saturday rooting for the Gambler. My dad retired from racing. My mom traveled the world and excelled in her Young Living business to the point that my dad was able to retire from his self owned business in automotive at the ripe age of 46. I had a watchful, hawkful eye on me until the day I moved out of the house 5 months before my 19th birthday. My parents divorced that same year and my relationship with my father has never been the same and at the moment is at a stand still.

I did well in school; I did great in art, math and science. I graduated with a 3.845 GPA and lettered 3 times in academics. I took calculus and pre-calculus my senior year. Real fun. Passed. Got an A in pre and a B in calc.

Not to get too deep into it but my father has always told me that I should not work towards getting any professions as an artist because I will never make any money. Well will supporters and talent He is wrong. I struggled for 6 years after I graduated from high school to find what I wanted to do (to make money). I went to collage. I went to The University of Denver for a whole semester. I left after only one semester because the class options for undecided were just not for me. I just can NOT get away from it, I LOVE ART all of it in every way, everything crafty, paint, yarn, canvas, needle and thread, paper and pencil, wires and pliers. Even drafting and lumber. My dream is to go back to school for art. All forms of it. Cooking, drafting, design, videography and maybe some business management.

Then found out we wanted more babies. Had another baby, Shakiya. We are holding off to have our third for a few more years; number three will be a boy.

As of now I have been following my dream of crafting and have been posting You Tube videos since September 1, 2010. I wish to be able to be a You Tube Partner and profit from my videos. So support by subscribing! I love the Young Living Company and do some of that as a business too. I wish for that business to blossom and I also wish to be able to profit for my crafts that I make by selling them. I would love to be a designer of some sort and would love to make enough money to put my girls in day care so I can go full throttle on my business. Having a 2 and 4 year old to take care of is a full time job all on it’s own.

I would also love to have a formal wedding and marry my beast friend the right way.

I could have shown you more on the different ways you could make a stamp, more like a background stamp unless you plan a way so that all the dots make a picture. You could do letters or numbers.

i used nails that I think went to the picture hook. I'm not really sure, I got them from my neighbor's house. I'm sure the hardware store could hook you up with the right kind. I also used foam. I have found sheets of colored foam that you can make your own foam whatevers with and I hadn't used mine in forever so I though it would be good to make a use of them.

I do recommend using a hammer that does not have a textured head. Unless you liked the effect I got.

This is one of my favorite things to eat. It taste Fricking AWESOME and it doesn't cost a much. Oh and it IS easy to make. Really, all I do is put all the ingredients into the pot set the timer for 30 min depending on the type of noodle and I come back and it is ready. I have recently discovered that is taste really freaking awesome with some cheese. I have also tried with tossing in some rotisserie chicken. um

So the ingredients really just depends on your taste.
I hear someone had tried it with salsa.

This recipe came together when I had gone to my grandma's for lunch and she had made a cream of chicken soup and it was similar to mine except she used a crock pot, put in chicken in it, some cream (? or just the can and m=no cream) and used a can of Campbell's Cream of chicken. I don't like using Campbell's because of the ingredients and not great I think it also had food coloring in it which I have found out is the cause of the heartburn I used to have so My family stopped eating chemically colored foods. sad cause I gave up some favorites. So my husband and I love to cook and decided to try our own version and the first batch, it was good but found was not the awesome version you see in the vid. I ended up just truing to cook pasta in broth to see if it would be yummy flavored noodles and then I started to a dd a few things. Voila!
