<title>'BY THE WATERS OF BABYLON' Philip James, Howard U. Alumni Choir BernardMavritteSings</title>
<description>During the wonderful years I spent at Howard University, singing in the choir, Dr. Warner Lawson and Evelyn D. White led the choir in great musical works. Among them was the lovely choral work by Philip James, "By The Waters Of Babylon". When Mrs. White passed, former members of the Howard Choir came from all over the Nation to sing at a Memorial Service in her honor, singing many of the great choral works they had sung under Dr. Lawson and Mrs. White. This lovely Anthem was among the compositions performed that day. Samuel Bonds, who conducted the choir for the occasion, was able to capture the mood and feeling that Dr. Lawson and Mrs. White would have breathed into the composition. Long live the great legacy of Dr. Lawson &amp; Mrs. Evelyn D. White, and may the great sound of The Howard University Choir ever be preserved! BernardMavritteSings

<title>"Hallelujah Chorus" Beethoven Howard U. Alumni Choir BernardMavriteSings</title>
<description>Evelyn D. White was a great musical figure. She was a professor of Music Theory, and Choral Conducting on the faculty of Howard University School of Music, and the Asst. Director for The Howard University Choir, then under Dr. Warner Lawson. On August 11, 2007, former members of the Howard Choir gathered to sing in a Memorial Service dedicated this this great woman. Under the direction of Samuel Bonds they lifted up their voices in a glorious sound, that sound of the Howard University Choir that Mrs. White had so helped to develop. The members of this choir came from all over the country to show their love for this woman who gave so much to Music. Long live her legacy! MAY THE MUSIC NEVER END! <title>Halcyon - Small watches, Big times</title>
<description>English work. And all started on a Friday evening, November 17, one year ago, when two Howard University undergraduate students gave birth to the Halcyon Company. And because we didn't want to make watches with a big body, but with a big soul. The slogan I created is "Small watches, big times". Pretty soon, they will go on sale.

<title>Shocking: Minorities Now Surpass Whites In Births, Census Shows - 2012</title>
<description>America hit a demographic milestone last year, with new census figures showing for the first time more than half the children born in the US were minorities. That percentage just barely eked over the halfway mark, with minorities making up 50.4 percent of US births in the 12-month period ending July 2011. But it marks a steady trend -- minorities represented 37 percent of births in 1990. As a whole, the nation's minority population continues to rise, following a higher-than-expected Hispanic count in the 2010 census. Minorities increased 1.9 percent to 114.1 million, or 36.6 percent of the total US population, lifted by prior waves of immigration that brought in young families and boosted the number of Hispanic women in their prime childbearing years. The numbers also serve as a guide to where taxpayer dollars could be going in the coming decades. With minority populations growing faster than white populations, robust minority population centers are sure to increase in electoral heft in the coming decades. "This is an important landmark," said Roderick Harrison, a former chief of racial statistics at the Census Bureau who is now a sociologist at Howard University. "This generation is growing up much more accustomed to diversity than its elders."
