De korfballers van Nic./Alfa-college wonnen zondagmiddag met 17-14 van Mid-Fryslân. Door het resultaat speelt Nic. ook volgend veldseizoen op het hoogste niveau, de Ereklasse. Beide teams begonnen slecht aan de wedstrijd. In de beginfase van de wedstrijd scoorde alleen Tymo de Wit. Mid-Fryslân miste in die fase opvallend veel strafworpen. Bij rust stond het 6-4. In de tweede helft liepen de scores bij beide teams beter. Mid-Fryslân kwam even op voorsprong, maar daarna liep Nic. weg bij de Friezen. Toen de marge groot genoeg was konden publiekswissels plaatsvinden voor Niels Tamminga en Jorrit Wielinga, die na dit seizoen afscheid nemen.

This is an original piece called "Unused". It is a submission for Yamaha's guitar competition. Phil hopes to gain a scholarship to Berkelee College of Music by advancing through Yamaha's contest. This piece has a rough vocal track laid on top of the raw guitar recording as was authorized via email correspondence with the good people at the competition. A bit of reverb + EQ adjustments has been added. I've posted the lyrics below for you to follow along. Het nieuwe open podium op Arte College is geweest, en Jasper en ik waren er zoals gewoonlijk weer bij (: Cheyenne heeft heel lief voor ons de basgitaar bespeeld :D Dit liedje gaat over hoe kut en gevaarlijk huiswerk is! Tekst: Weet je nog je eerste schooldag, je ging er met veel spanning naar toe? Maar na je eerste schooldag was je toch best wel moe. Opeens moest jij 3 Nederlandse boeken lezen. En een verslag maken over Japanezen. MEESTER! MEESTER! Mag ik niet wat meer tijd? De stress verhoogt mijn agressiviteit. MEESTER! MEESTER! Mag ik wat meer rust? Ik krijg alleen nog maar meer zelfmoordlust. Diezelfde avond word je aangetroffen, in je eigen huis. Helemaal afgebrand door een aangebrand fornuis. Wat ligt erin? JUIST, al je huiswerk op elkaar. Zo bewijst maar weer, huiswerk is een groot gevaar! MEESTER! MEESTER! Mag ik niet wat meer tijd? De stress verhoogt mijn agressiviteit. MEESTER! MEESTER! Mag ik wat meer rust? In 1927, the group's recording of "The Varsity Drag" became a national dance craze amongst wiggly college students. But let's set one thing straight right from the start: this Fran was a man, and a baritone at that, so fans of the rare female jazz players who existed in these eras better scratch a mark off the tally sheet. As a vocalist, Frey's recordings with Olsen's band include "A Little Bit Bad," a number frequently chosen by critics to cleverly demonstrate what was perceived to be a lack of range on the part of this singer. To be fair, Frey has many fans and was more likely to be featured as part of a vocal duo or trio in combination with fellow vocalists Bob Borger and Bob Rice. In 1926, Olsen's band recorded another title that could have been used against Frey as well, "Too Bad." However, by this time he had been replaced in the singing spot and was just blowing alto sax. The new vocalist was Ethel Shutta and one could say she was vastly preferred by the bandleader without a qualm. In fact, he wound up marrying her. In total, Frey was featured on 26 different sides by this band. Olsen eventually disbanded this outfit and a spin-off trio that also featured Frey, attempting several other ventures with nowhere near the same amount of success. Anita Ward (December 20, 1956(1956-12-20)) is an American singer and musician. She is best known for her 1979 million selling chart-topper, "Ring My Bell".[1] Before signing a recording contract, Ward obtained a degree in psychology from Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi, and had become a schoolteacher. While recording her debut album, record label owner Frederick Knight presented her with a song he had written the previous year for Stacy Lattisaw. Ward did not like the song, but Knight insisted that a dance track was needed to capitalize on the current disco trend, and Ward relented. The song, which was originally a juvenile-targeted tune about teens talking on the telephone, was rewritten with more 'adult' lyrics and the result was the single "Ring My Bell". The single reached number one in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada in 1979.[2] "Ring My Bell" has been remixed and released several times since its original release. After the huge success of "Ring My Bell", "Make Believe Lovers", which was the b-side on most 12" singles for "Ring My Bell", was released, but it failed to chart. Ward released a second album that same year; it was common in the 1970s to release albums several months apart. Minnesota DPS pushes motorcycle safety after deadly spring. The most vulnerable time for motorcycle riders is the first six months on the road and Sarah Peterson knew she could be at risk. After riding her new motorcycle for two months, she enrolled in a safety course to work on her basic skills. "I was super nervous at first," said Peterson. "I'm not very good at riding the clutch." Bill Shaffer, who manages the Minnesota Motorcycle Safety Program, says these courses are becoming even more important because motorcycle ridership is up. After very low ridership in the 1990s, licensed motorcycle operators in Minnesota number 404000, which Shaffer says is a record high. "There's more crashes, more serious crashes, more exposure, more people out riding, and a lot more miles being logged by motorcycles," said Shaffer. Shaffer says one of the main factors in crashes is speed, which was the reason behind a fatal Plymouth crash April 5 that killed a Minnetonka man. So far this year, two people have died in motorcycle accidents which is unusual for so early in the calendar year. "People are just riding too fast," said Shaffer. Besides slowing down, Shaffer recommends people wear protective gear. "People do crash and when you crash you want to be as protected as you can be," said Shaffer. President Obama likes his hoops — but he looked more like the Bricklayer-in-chief during a shoot-around on Monday. Obama was ice cold from the field while shooting baskets at the White House's 'Shoot for Strength' event — misfiring four consecutive times before finally getting one to go. Obama's painful 0-for-4 happened in the presence of the Harlem Globetrotters, former NBA All-Star Mitch Richmond and legendary dunker Darryl Dawkins. He faded to the right on his first attempt, but the red-and-white rock found only back iron, according to a video posted on Politico.com. The lanky lefty faded right again for attempt No. 2 — and came up short. His third shot was on line ... but had a flattened arc and again clanged off back iron. With his fourth attempt, he corrected the arc and his tendency to fade right, but it was just a little short. But by his fifth shot, the rust was completely off and Obama caught nothing but twine — to rousing cheers from the crowd. In the President's defense, his poor offense appeared to come from behind the college 3-point line. One-for-5 from 3-point range wasn't too bad, considering the conditions: outdoors; in the wind; sun in his eyes; wearing dress shoes and khakis, not to mention a wrist watch on his shooting hand (more distracting than one would think). Nic./Alfa-college heeft zaterdagavond verrassend een punt gepakt tegen PKC/Hagero uit Papendrecht. In de topsporthal van het Alfa-college werd het tegen de nummer 2 van de competitie 26-26.Gedurende de hele wedstrijd waren de ploegen aan elkaar gewaagd. Bij rust was het 14-14. Halverwege de tweede helft leek het mis tegen gaan voor de Groninger korfballers toen PKC uitliep van 16-16 naar 16-19, maar Nic. wist snel weer langszij te komen. De gevierde man bij Nic. werd Friso Boode, die 2 minuten voor tijd, bij de stand 24-26, scoorde en 44 seconden voor tijd nogmaals, dit keer uit een vrije bal. Ricky Wu miste in de slotseconden nog een afstandsschot.Topscorers bij Nic. waren Friso Boode met 10 doelpunten en Ivo Wiebering met 4 doelpunten.Ondanks het gewonnen punt heeft Nic. zichzelf nog niet veiliggespeeld in de Korfbal League.
