An Phong Vo) www.youtube.com Attorney helping human trafficking victims find way to escape On a mission to end slavery Attorney An Phong Vo, along with Boat People SOS, helps victims of human trafficking find a way to escape LISE OLSEN, HOUSTON CHRONICLE Published 05:30 am, Thursday, June 9, 2011 After 10 days in a Jordan sewing factory, Phuong-Anh Vu knew she'd been tricked: Her first paycheck was $10 — a tenth of the promised pay, meals were barely enough to survive and when she and other Vietnamese workers protested, the owner summoned police. "Policemen pulled on their hair and beat their heads on the beds and on the ground, and there was blood everywhere," said Vu, who led a strike and eventually fled to Thailand and finally Houston. Her daring rebellion and escape - as well as years spent with other trafficking victims in transit in Thailand - helped motivate the Houston office of the nonprofit Vietnamese American Boat People SOS to ramp up its outreach to asylum seekers in Asia. Her story and the stories of others like her also provided personal motivation and a new mission for human rights activist An Phong Vo, an attorney based at the nonprofit's West Houston office who began working with trafficking victims in 2007. <title>3 Killed in Louisville Shootings [5-18-2012]</title>
<description>Visit MeTee.com The place for publishing and printing t-shirts &amp; always free shipping. - The Virginia Tech massacre was a school shooting that took place on April 16, 2007, on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States. Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people and wounded 17 others in two separate attacks, approximately two hours apart, before committing suicide. (Another 6 people were injured escaping from classroom windows. ) The massacre is the deadliest shooting incident by a single gunman in US history. It was also the worst act of mass murder on college students since Syracuse University lost 36 students in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. It is also the second-deadliest act of mass murder at a school campus, behind the Bath School bombing of 1927. Cho, a senior English major at Virginia Tech, had previously been diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder. During much of his middle school and high school years, he received therapy and special education support. After graduating from high school, Cho enrolled at Virginia Tech. Due to federal privacy laws, Virginia Tech was not informed of Cho's previous diagnosis or the accommodations he had been granted at school. In 2005, Cho was accused of stalking two female students. After an investigation, a Virginia special justice declared Cho mentally ill and ordered him to attend treatment. Lucinda Roy, a professor and former chairwoman of the English department ...

<description>wwws.whitehouse.gov Attorney helping human trafficking victims find way to escape On a mission to end slavery Attorney An Phong Vo, along with Boat People SOS, helps victims of human trafficking find a way to escape LISE OLSEN, HOUSTON CHRONICLE Published 05:30 am, Thursday, June 9, 2011 After 10 days in a Jordan sewing factory, Phuong-Anh Vu knew she'd been tricked: Her first paycheck was $10 — a tenth of the promised pay, meals were barely enough to survive and when she and other Vietnamese workers protested, the owner summoned police. Along the way, Vo became one of the leading US experts in helping victims to obtain special visas to stay in the United States and stabilize their lives. Now, Vo's calling will take her to Bangkok, where she will try to aid an estimated 500 asylum-seekers ...

John Sammons, an assistant professor in Marshall's Integrated Science and Technology Department, is the director of the Appalachian Institute of Digital Evidence. "Anyone who works with digital evidence, whether they are a lawyer, a police officer, or an information security professional, must keep pace with technology," he said. "This is our third annual conference. The needs for training and the threats are just as great, if not greater than when we started. Technology is evolving so quickly that we must take advantage of every opportunity to increase our knowledge and grow our skill sets." Sammons said the conference offers a wide array of great speakers from the FBI, US Secret Service, Marshall University, Purdue ...

<title>Music Magazine | Pretty Lights | We Must Go On</title>
<description>by Pretty Lights Music All Pretty Lights music is available for download at: www.prettylightsmusic.com Filmed and edited by Derek Vincent Smith (Pretty Lights) and Krystle Blackburn (PLM's Creative Director). The track is a Pretty Lights song with a classic soulful hip-hop style. "The two of us travelled together all over the world during 2011, and filmed as much as our schedules allowed. Locations included in the video include Detroit, Warsaw, Oslo, NYC, Vancouver, London, Paris, Prague, New Orleans, Auckland, Sydney, Denver and many more. We used 2 canon 7Ds and about 6 different lenses and edited it all in FCP X. It's fun to film with your better half! After graduating from high school, he attended University of Colorado at Boulder, but dropped out during his freshman year to focus instead on his music. In 2007 &amp; 2008 Smith &amp; Cory Eberhard began playing late nights for large acts such as STS9, The Disco Biscuits &amp; Widespread Panic. Euphonic Conceptions Productions (CO based) is largely responsible for Pretty Lights' early success in booking him around the USA. In the summer of 2009, under the ...

      <title>A Young Doctor's Life in Residency</title>
<description>Dr. Lindy Valichnac is a second-year resident at the Shenandoah Valley Family Practice Residency Program in Front Royal, Va. Follow the University of Arizona Wildcat (undergraduate and medical school) as she makes her rounds and shares her life as a young doctor at the rural Warren Memorial Hospital. The residency program, led by director Dr. Frank Dennehy, is a rural-oriented program in the Shenandoah Valley of northwestern Virginia, about 70 miles west of Washington, DC and affiliated with the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. The 3-year residency is fully accredited by both the ACGME and the American Osteopathic Association, allowing full board certification eligibility for MD and DO physicians. There are five residents in each class. Training occurs at two complementary sites: a small town practice in Front Royal, along with specialists, high technology and cultural amenities in the nearby larger city of Winchester, Va. Specialty rotations take place at Winchester Medical Center, a 445-bed, four-state referral medical center, Level II Trauma Center, Heart Institute, Cancer Center, Neonatal ICU, and much more. These specialty faculty physicians are from the best residencies and fellowships in the country. The smaller, 76-bed Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal is a Family Practice-dominated hospital, with an attached 120-bed nursing home where residents can later apply their high-tech medical center training in managing the breadth of the ...
