Singer Johnson reveals Aussie giants are waiting for a band member to recuperate – but won’t say which one?

AC/DC have put work on their new album on hold due to illness – but they’re hoping to be back in action later this year.

AC/DC was in UK last year for the new release live Album "AC/DC live at River Plate"

Singer Brian Johnson reveals the Aussie giants were waiting for
someone to recuperate, although he wouldn’t identify the band member in
question.

During an appearance on a recent edition of "The Cowhead Show", the American radio program hosted by Mike "Cowhead" Calta, Johnson
revealed that health issues were affecting one of his band mates, which
may have put new album plans temporarily on hold. "One of the boys is a
little sick and I can't say anything, but he's getting better," Brian said. "He's doing good and will have a Full recovery"

when the particular member is feeling better. If anything, the band will
be grateful just to continue, after feeling in the past that they
wouldn't last much longer.

If all goes to plan, AC/DC intend to be in the studio recording later in 2012.

The band took some time off after their record-breaking Black Ice
world tour.

During 2010 one in every fifteen major concert tickets sold
in the world was an AC/DC pass.

AC/DC’s 2008 LP ‘Black Ice’ debuted at No. 1 in 29 countries and has
sold 6 million copies worldwide. ‘Black Ice’ was also the band’s first
album to top the Billboard 200 albums chart since their 1981 release
‘For Those About to Rock We Salute You.’

Lead guitarist Angus Young recently said: “We’re planning another
tour. We’re thinking, ‘How can we ever better the Black Ice world tour?’
We don’t know how yet – but we will. We’ll go out again once we get a
new album out.”

Johnson added: “We’ll stop when the beast doesn’t need feeding any more – when it doesn’t feel amazing any more.”
And it has nothing to do with rock 'n' roll.

The 64-year-old Englishman, who has called Sarasota home for the last two decades, is scheduled to make his Grand-Am Rolex Series Daytona Prototype debut in this weekend's Rolex 24 At Daytona.

The son of an English coal miner, Johnson will team with Byron DeFoor, Elliott Forbes-Robinson, Jim Pace and Carlos de Queseda in the No. 50 BMW Riley prototype and make a run at overall honors.

Johnson has plenty of racing experience. He owns a vintage T70 Lola and runs in several historic sportscar events every year.

This is his first crack at Daytona in a new sports car, though.
DeFoor approached Johnson about this idea at a historic racing event. The original idea was to have all of the drivers on the team be over 50, a scheme that appealed to Johnson's sense of humor.

The race team has set up a Facebook page at hatcherfoundation.org/highwaytohelp and a Twitter account, @austinhatcherfo, to keep fans updated as the race progresses.
One of the most gruelling races in the World at the Daytona International Speedway plays host to many British racing drivers young and old . Here is a flavour of what to expect. Look out for AC/DC front man the incredible Brian Johnson.
It's a lung way to the top

WHEN piper Les Kenfield agreed to help a young rock band called
AC/DC shoot a film clip in 1976, because singer Bon Scott "wasn't very
good on the pipes", he had no idea he was signing up to be part of music
history.

IN THE BAG: Piper Les Kenfield with Nell and friends in the background.

Filmed on the back of a flat-bed truck driving down Swanston St in the Melbourne CBD, the clip for the single It's a Long Way to the Top
is now arguably the best-known Australian music video, with Mr Kenfield
and two of his fellow Rats of Tobruk Pipe Band pipers featuring
prominently.

But Mr Kenfield, now 66, said "it wasn't a big deal at the time".
"AC/DC weren't such a big name then" he said.

"Now, three generations of people absolutely love AC/DC."

Mr Kenfield and artist Nell recreated the clip at the MONA FOMA launch in Sydney in October.
And on Jan 22th from 2pm they'll perform the song on the back of a truck cruising the Hobart waterfront.
from across Australia gathered underneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge for

all-girl rock band re-create AC/DC's classic Long Way to the Top
film-clip, performing on the back of a moving flat-bed truck complete

Stern Pinball Launches Anticipated AC/DC Pinball Machine.

The newest addition to the iconic Stern collection honors one of the
most legendary rock and roll bands the world has ever seen.

The AC/DC
pinball machine allows players to experience the power of rock and roll
with their own two hands. Players will be able to rock out to 12
classic AC/DC hits including "Back in Black," "Highway to Hell" and "You
Shook Me All Night Long.

" Other exciting game features include two
separate ramps, a lower play field, ball shooting cannon, eight drop
targets, a mechanized Hell's Bell and animations of the AC/DC band.

Players can also join
the party with a TNT detonator and the Devil's Jukebox. This tribute to
one of rock and roll's most memorable bands pushes the auditory limits
with its sound, style and infectious riffs. The AC/DC machine is
designed to rock.

"The combination of classic rock and pinball
can't go wrong," said Gary Stern, founder, CEO and chairman of Stern
Pinball. "The music and play of the AC/DC machine delivers nothing less
than the ultimate rock experience that both AC/DC fans and pinball
players can appreciate."

The AC/DC game continues both the Stern
Pinball and the Stern family tradition of producing quality pinball
machines for young and old. The company traces its lineage to
Philadelphia in the 1930s when Sam Stern entered the business of
operating pinball games.

Stern passed his lifelong enthusiasm for the
game and the business of pinball to his son Gary Stern who founded Stern
Pinball. Today pinball remains one of America's favorite pastimes.

An
unstoppable force in rock and roll, AC/DC's last studio album Black Ice
was released globally in October 2008 and debuted at #1 in 31
countries.

AC/DC spent the next 20 months crisscrossing the planet and
playing to over 5 million people on their hugely successful Black Ice
World Tour. AC/DC's intense live performances and innovative guitar
driven music are at the core of the band's 30-year legacy of great rock
and roll music.

BAND FAN: Artist Nell with her exhibition at MONA, Let There Be Robe. picture: LUKE BOWDEN

The
Sydney-based artist has contributed a suite of AC/DC-themed offerings
for MONA FOMA 2012, describing it as a tribute to one of her favourite
groups.

"I'm from Maitland originally and AC/DC is of course the soundtrack to urban and suburban youth," she said.

"I'd been making work with references to AC/DC for a while, so this kind of tribute had been coming for a while."

Nell's
art installation, Let There Be Robe, is one of three new installations
unveiled at MONA this week to coincide with MONA FOMA.

Let There
Be Robe comprises a hand-sewn Buddhist-style robe made from AC/DC
T-shirts, standing with outspread arms like the white-robed Bon Scott in
the iconic film clip for Let There Be Rock, in front of a pile of
white guitar picks, the white walls of the room adorned with crosses
made from broken drumsticks, paintbrushes and other items.

"I
wanted it to be like a rock 'n' roll temple, a shrine or chapel, with
the picks invoking the look of a pile of rice, like an offering," Nell
said.

She had thousands of white picks printed with her own name in AC/DC's instantly recognizable lettering.

"I wanted to try to discourage people from stealing them, so you can buy them at the gift shop for $2 each," she said.

Nell
also will be playing bass guitar on the back of a truck at 2pm on
Thursday at Princes Wharf No.1 in a re-creation of AC/DC's A Long Way To
The Top film clip, including Les, the bagpiper from the original 1976
clip.

And on Friday and Saturday she will be chanting the words to Let There Be Rock.

Tittle: Robe fit for kings of Oz rock

AC/DC's promo-video for the debut single 'Can I Sit Next To You Girl' (July, 1974)

front of drum set: First acdc logo with lighting bolt early 1974.

Note: Before watching this video, do keep in mind that it was Malcom and
Angus's idea to get the band to dress up in glam outfits. This was the
first direction AC/DC took when they started out. The other three are
not entirely to blame. This was the third incarnation of AC/DC with a
line-up consisting of Dave Evans (vocals), Angus Young (guitar), Malcolm Young (guitar), Rob Bailey (bass)and Peter Clack (drums).

Dave Evans says the following about the promo-video:-
'That
is the only video of me with AC/DC that I know of. It was shot at The
Last Pictue Show in Cronulla which was an old movie theatre converted
into a venue. We played there with Sherbet on a couple of occasions too.
The venue was closed to visitors at the time so that we could shoot
it'.

Trivia: Angus Young was 19 had quit schooling at Sydney's Ashfield Boys High when 'Can I Sit Next
To You Girl' was released. Though most people believe the 'A' on Angus'
cap is an abbreviation of his name; it in fact, an abbreviation for
Ashfield Boys School.

Very first Release single: Rockin' in the Parlour 45' single is on side A when released but on 'side B' was the hit song Can I Sit Next To You Girl was played by many Radio station around Australia in 1974.

Early AC/DC band members Dave, Colin, Peter, Larry and Rob were kicked out of the band then By October 1974 Bon Scott would join the band, and the rest is Acca Dacca history!!

Today AC/DC still continue to be among the best live acts on the planet and later this year 2012 the boys will work on a new Album and next will be their 40th anniversary tour in 2013. Lead singer Brian Johnson says, ”I’ll be celebrating by just being there! and also lead guitarist Angus Young told BANG Showbiz: "Well at some point we'll be touring again once we get a new album out!

We all know There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'... in late 2012!!

Meldrum, 65, suffered a fractured skull, broken ribs and punctured lung
after a fall at his home last night while reportedly putting up
Christmas decorations.

Professor Jeffrey Rosenfeld, director of neurosurgery at The Alfred
Hospital, said Meldrum was in a critical condition in intensive care and
his condition had stabilised overnight.

"We're really concerned for his life - I mean, this is a life and death matter,'' Prof Rosenfeld said.
"He was perfectly well yesterday and here he is fighting for his life."
He said the hospital would conduct further brain scans this morning to gauge Meldrum's progress.

"I think at the moment it's unlikely we'll need more surgery but
we'll need to wait and see what that scan shows,'' Prof Rosenfeld said.

"I'm encouraged that he's been stable overnight but he's still very serious."
"We're fighting that battle with him and for him and we're going to hopefully win that battle."
He said Meldrum's severe brain injury was the primary concern and that they couldn't predict what was going to happen.

"We've got him sedated and he's having all the treatment that we give to severe brain injury patients.
"The next 24 hours is critical. We're encouraged by the way he's going so far but he's still critical."
Prof Rosenfeld said it was too early to say when Meldrum would wake up or whether he'd make a complete recovery.

Meldrum, long-time host of top-rating television pop/rock show Countdown, was found unconscious by his gardener before ambulance officers arrived at his Richmond house at 6.40pm.
It
is believed he fell off wooden steps while putting up Christmas lights
on the roof of his outdoor bar ahead of a party on Sunday.

He
suffered extensive injuries including a fractured skull and head
injuries, shoulder blade injuries, broken ribs and a punctured lung.

His manager Mark Klemens said he was totally optimistic that Meldrum would pull through.
"He's
an absolute trooper and whenever he's been down before he gets straight
up so I would be hopeful and confident that he'll be back, looking down
the lens saying `Do yourself a favour'," he said.
He said it had been a rough night for himself and that he hadn't had much sleep.

"It's horrendous and it's happened so quickly.
"It's
been a horrendous time and Molly's obviously a client of mine ... plus
he's also a great friend. I've known him for probably 20 years as my
wife has as well.

"He's a person that endears himself to people and he's iconic. He's a very special man."
“I
can tell you that he would be absolutely overwhelmed by the response
and the interest, and what has been quite extraordinary, and when he
finally looks back on all of this I have absolutely no doubt he will be
humbled, and so thrilled at the support.”

Mr Klemens said that Meldrum's health before the accident was excellent.
Garry
Spry, who has been Meldrum's friend since 1964, said he believed
Meldrum had fallen from about 3m above the ground. It is believed he
knocked his head on tiles when he fell.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard took to Twitter to wish Meldrum all the best.

"Australia's thoughts are with you, Molly," Ms Gillard tweeted this morning. "Keep fighting."
Longtime friend of Meldrum's, publicist Di Rolle, said she was shocked and upset when she heard the news.

"I was picturing him lying in intensive care and thinking: if he only knew how everybody loved him so much," Ms Rolle said.

"He's touched do many people and you don't realize it until something like this happens."
Many
major music identities offered their best wishes to the man they knew
well socially and professionally, in a career dating back to the 1960s.

"We are recording some versions of the Tom Petty song I Won't Back Down," he said.
MTR morning host Steve Vizard spent 30 minutes chatting to Meldrum on-air yesterday.
Vizard, a long-time friend of Meldrum's, said he was devastated to hear of the accident.
"He
is a great friend of our show. He was in great form. He was fit and
happy and was looking forward to Christmas,'' Vizard said.
Clifford Williams (born 14 December 1949) is an English bassist and backing vocalist, who has been a member of the Australian hard rock band AC/DC since mid-1977.

He had started his professional music career in 1967 and was previously in the British groups Home and Bandit.

His first studio album with AC/DC was Powerage in 1978. The band, including Williams, was inducted into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
in 2003.

Williams's playing style is noted for basic bass lines which
follow the rhythm guitar. Williams's side projects, while a member of
AC/DC, include benefit concerts and playing with Emir & Frozen
Camels on their album San (2002) and an European tour.
$4.05 million, according to its listing on Trade Me.

Photo shots by LJ Hooker

Real estate agent Ken Coull of LJ Hooker has confirmed he has been
appointed to sell two properties owned by Rudd in Harbour Drive.

Photo shots by LJ Hooker

The properties are in one building but are two separate units on two levels with two titles.
The ground floor level is listed by LJ Hooker as "Phil Rudd's New
Zealand hideaway" and the upper level as "Phil Rudd's other hideaway".

Photo shots by LJ Hooker

Mr Coull said the price for both properties was by negotiation, and they could be purchased separately or together.

Photo shots by LJ Hooker

The 281sq m ground floor unit is listed on Trade Me with a rateable value of $1.92 million.
The upper unit is 305sq m and listed with a rateable value of $2.13 million.

Each level has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and two-car garaging, with views of Mt Maunganui and the harbour.

Photo shots by LJ Hooker

Mr Coull said he had already received a number of inquiries, including from a potential overseas buyer.
One of the listings has had more than 700 views on Trade Me.
Although a number of photos are displayed, viewing of the property is by appointment only.

"We are only showing to genuine buyers. They have to sign a
confidentiality agreement before going through the house," said Mr
Coull.

The listings make much of Rudd's rock star connection, with a reference
to Hell's Bells from the AC/DC Back in Black album and Carry Me Home, a
reference to a rarer AC/DC track.

Photo shots by LJ Hooker

Mr Coull said the mention of Rudd's name was a bit of a gimmick as there
was worldwide interest in him and AC/DC, but the property also stood up
by itself given its location, design and stunning views.
"At the end of the day anyone can buy this property who has the money," Mr Coull said.

Although Rudd bought the two properties as one home, they were
originally designed and built as separate houses on two titles for
Tauranga businessman Rob Skelton.
Rudd, who is also a Tauranga restaurant owner, bought them two years ago.

The contemporary houses were designed by local award-winning architectural designer Brendon Gordon.

The specifications include zinc and plaster cladding, view shafts to
maximise natural light, honed basalt tiles, and a ground-level pool,
heated with a natural bore.

The kitchens by kitchen designer Steve Wilkinson include a feature wall
in dark stained American oak, benches with engineered stone, and
hardware by Blum.
and related, standalone tables. Last summer, the studio partnered with
Sony Music Entertainment to add a little rock and roll to the pinball
equation in the form of Slayer Pinball Rocks HD [App Store], a fast and furious Slayer-themed table.

Gameprom has recently rekindled the Sony relationship to release AC/DC Pinball Rocks HD [App Store], a standalone table that makes you want to scream out, "Angus!"

The first thing you'll notice about AC/DC Pinball Rocks is that
it's a pretty ornate table, over the top in a fashion that, I think,
well fits the band. Arrayed about the table are various bits of AC/DC
stage memorabilia, including the Rock 'N Roll Train, Hell's Bell, the
For Those About To Rock cannon, and the Highway to Hell, itself.

AC/DC Pinball Rocks HD is a fun table that definitely feels
like Gameprom pinball. I won't call it my favorite of their offerings,
but it's certainly worth its space on the iOS devices of any pinball fan
out there.

As Hell's Bell, the For Those About To Rock cannon, and the Highway to Hell, itself. As you work the table, AC/DC tracks. including "Thunderstruck," "Highway to Hell," and "You Shook Me All
Night Long", play along with the action as pyrotechnics blast sparks
across your screen. The occasional vocal quip from lead singer Brian
Johnson can also be heard during gameplay.

As far as the table itself, it's quite a different experience from the fast-paced Slayer Pinbal. AC/DC Pinball Rocks
features slower-paced ball action than the other rock title and notably
lacks the two main bumpers typically found above a table's central set
of paddles, leaving the center of the table pretty much wide open.

This
may seem to be the formula for a bland game of pinball at first, but
after playing the game for a short while I realized I was able to be
rather more strategic and precise on this table than most others. It's
possible, on the AC/DC table, to aim for targets as distant as
the far corners, thanks to the ball pacing and the open central area.

That's really not something you can do on a more traditional table and
makes for a non-typical game experience. What's more, the sides of the
table are nicely busy, with elevators, lightning bumpers, and the
mission-lending TNT bundle.

The main reason that the central area of the table is left open is
the mini game that takes place there. There are three mini games in all,
in fact. On the right side of the screen is a guitar mini-game
featuring a small ball pin with paddles, while on the left is a
mini-game involving the aforementioned stage cannon. The central area
mini-game raises a barrier and challenges you to score in the lower
portion of the table, ultimately in a mission to open the Trap Door to
Hell.

AC/DC Pinball Rocks is definitely more mini-game focused than any of the studio's other pinball offerings.
came before.
Speaking with Eddie Trunk in an hour-long episode, Johnson told how
he’d met up with Malcolm Young in October in London. During the pair’s
conversation, Malcolm has said to Brian that he was ‘bored’ – pointing
towards a desire to get things moving in the direction of a new AC/DC
album in 2012.

In a revealing interview, Brian spoke about his joining the band and
how Back In Black’s You Shook Me All Night Long came together.

And in a terrific nod from the band to its home crowd, he also
revealed how prior to the Australian leg of the recent Black Ice World
Tour, the band had decided to include High Voltage in the setlist, with
Brian requesting that an image of Bon Scott be included in the
accompanying video backdrop as a tribute to the former frontman and
local hero.
After all, that is his job.

Put him a Grand-Am Rolex Series Prototype for a high-speed run over
Daytona International Speedway's 3.56-mile road course and his
64-year-old heart starts thumping like the base drum in the hit song
"Back In Black."

"I'm ready for a fantastic good time," Johnson said Wednesday at the
track. "At my age, if you don't grab it now mate, that's it.

"You got to grab life by the horns and just ride it right out there. I mean, I'm not stopping for anybody."
Grand-Am Road Racing wrapped up two days of Rolex and Continental
Series testing Thursday, and Johnson enjoyed every minute of it.

Johnson, who joined AC/DC in 1980, was testing a BMW Riley Daytona
Prototype. He will share the No. 50 car with four other drivers over the
age 50, including Chattanooga businessman Byron DeFoot, 56, who pieced
the deal together.

Johnson and the others will be racing for a cause. Their Fifty Plus
Racing entry for the 50th anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan.
28-29 will raise money for the Austin Hatcher Foundation, which assists
children with pediatric cancer.

The team has set the bar extremely high. Johnson and DeFoot hope to
raise $1 million via an Internet radio broadcast before the endurance
race is finished.

"We're all happy to have the opportunity to do this," Johnson said.
Johnson, born and raised in England, has called Sarasota home for the
last 22 years. Since 1997, the rocker has dabbled in racing. He is a
regular on the Historic Sportscar Racing circuit, which had an event
here last weekend.

He describes his vintage 1965 Lola T70 as "a beast." The Daytona
Prototype has a wealth of racing technology compared to long-retired
sportscars.

"When you get in one of these DP cars, you've got to trust the engineering," Johnson said. "It's pretty hard to do that.

"Once that settles in, you have a ball. It's the most fun I've had
going around a racetrack. You scare the bejesus out of yourself, but at
the same time it's thrilling."

Johnson grew up in modest circumstances as the son of a coal miner in
Dunston. At a young age he became fascinated with motor racing and the
men of derring-do at the wheel, drivers such as Juan Manuel Fangio and
Stirling Moss.

He studied car magazines that showcased racing and its greatest events.
"Heroic men driving ridiculous speeds," Johnson said. "It just
inspired me. It was just a wonderful dream for me when I went to bed as a
child; to drive through the night, in the rain, pounding on, all that
romantic silly stuff."

Becoming a HSR regular helped satisfy some of those childhood wants.
Many of those historic competitors are not afraid to trade sheet metal
for position.
"It isn't just a parade of sportscars," Johnson said of his HSR
experience. "People are banging doors and taking numbers. This is the
real thing."

The HSR vintage F1 class is one of Johnson's favorite to watch. He has a unique description of the start of those races.

"To hear that roar and listen to that sound when the flag drops,
well, I always say if Zeus ever broke wind, that's what it would sound
like," he said.

The HSR brought Johnson and DeFoot together. DeFoot also owns a
vintage Lola sportscar. They have toured far and wide together for the
last decade.

"The same people, who took care of his car, took care of my car,"
DeFoot said. "We started traveling all over the country doing historic
races at all the famous tracks and having a great time."

Former Rolex winners Elliott Forbes-Robinson, Jim Pace (overall) and
Carlos DeQuesada (GT class) will do the heavy lifting in the Rolex 24.
DeFoot and Johnson will each get about 4 hours of seat time.
Their mission? Keep the car alive.

"When the flag drops ... you've got to get out and do it. You can talk a great race.
"You can put a race suit on and say, 'Look at me. I'm going to do
it.' I love doing this. I love Daytona. I love this track. It's the
heart and soul of racing as far as I'm concerned."

road course.

Scott
was raised in Fremantle after moving with his family from Scotland. He
died of alcohol poisoning in 1980 and his grave site at Fremantle
Cemetery is the most visited grave in Australia.

Scott isn't
portrayed in the show. Instead Barker plays a fan and Parkinson is the
narrator. They perform 22 of Scott's hits, including T.N.T, High Voltage and It's A Long Way to the Top as a homage to the ultimate rock frontman.

The show doesn't just focus on his AC/DC years, but his years of sex, drugs and rock and roll with other bands.

"Some
of the music will cover his years with The Valentines and Fraternity
which were successful in their own right. Doug Parkinson knew him from
those early days and he tells some of his stories," said Nankervis.
The show made its world premiere in Melbourne in July.
canceled a planned 2012 solo tour so that he can have surgery.

Brian Johnson

Johnson
was going to hit the road in February to promote his 2011
autobiography, Rockers and Rollers: A Full-Throttle Memoir, but has scrapped those plans because he has to have a wrist operation, according to Blabbermouth.net.

The tour, dubbed Rockers and Rollers -- A Full-Throttle Evening of
Stories and Music with Brian Johnson of AC/DC, was to have featured the
singer discussing the book and his colorful life, as well as performing
some AC/DC songs with accompaniment from Skid Row guitarist Scotti Hill and bass player Rachel Bolan.

The surgery apparently won't affect Johnson's plans to compete in the
50th anniversary Rolex 24 at Daytona auto race, scheduled for January
28 and 29 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Through his participation in the
event, the singer is hoping to raise $1 million for the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.
Johnson has lent his support to the charity's "Highway to Help"
campaign, in which fans can donate to the cause by texting "ACDC" to
501501 during the race.

"This is real, this is going to happen, and we're all happy to have
the opportunity to do this," said Johnson at an event Saturday
announcing the initiative, Grand-Am.com reports. "AC/DC fans all over the world are now rooting for the Austin Hatcher Foundation."

Prior to the Rolex 24, Johnson is planning to participate in two other racing events:
the Daytona Historic Races, taking place this Thursday through Sunday
in Daytona Beach; and the Bobby Rahal Vintage Race Series on December
2-3 in Sebring, Florida.

the 24 hours of the 50th running of the Rolex 24 Hours Of Daytona (January 28, 3:30 p.m. to January 29, 3:30 p.m.), Brian will be raising funds to provide services to families affected by pediatric cancer.

Brian will be in the following races:

* October 27-30 -     Savannah
* November 10-13 - Daytona HSR
* December 2-4 - Sebring Bobby Rahal vintage race series
* January 26-30 -      Daytona 24 hours

To this day, controversy surrounds the popular bassist's exclusion from AC/DC's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction. Towards the end of his memoir, the first of its kind by a classic-era AC/DC insider, Evans addresses the confounding experience of being an announced "foundation inductee" of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in November 2002 and then in short order being disinvited six weeks later, prevented from joining the group of past and present band members honored.

Evans describes the events in detail in "Dirty Deeds", and then reaches a damning conclusion.

"At first, the Hall Of Fame was full of positive signs: I was given dates, details of the induction at the Waldorf Astoria, the arrangements to be made. They said they'd be in contact and get the information to me. But then the temperature turned chilly. When we did get a reply, it was simply to announce that the Hall Of Fame had seen fit to review the nomination and had come to the conclusion that I didn't qualify. I was out.

"Let me just say that the band richly deserved to be in the Hall Of Fame. It was way overdue. Bon had to be included, of course, as well as the current lineup. And I had absolutely no problem with not being included; in the AC/DC timeline, I was there for only a brief time — an important time, in my opinion, but a heartbeat by comparison with Cliff Williams's thirty-year-plus tenure. What I found galling was the Hall Of Fame's attitude. If a mistake was made, fine, then they should have dealt with it. A simple apology or at least an explanation would have been appreciated."

Johnson recently came under fire from Christian leaders after he slammed religion as “a waste of time” in an interview with PopEater.com.

Although he sang in a church choir when he was a young boy, Johnson said, “I don’t believe in religion, let’s put it that way. I believe all religions are bad. I think they’re a waste of time. Jesus was a clever man.

He wasn’t the son of God. We all know that he was a very clever, wonderful man and he said, ‘Church is in here, meaning you are your own church.’”
As for why he sang in the choir, Johnson said, “Was it religion? No, it was two shillings and sixpence a week!”

According to Christian Today, Pastor Drew Dixon of New Covenant Baptist Church in Albertville, Alabama, said, “Viewing Jesus this way is not an option. C.S. Lewis said you must view Jesus as liar, lunatic or Lord. There aren’t any other options. You can’t say Jesus was a clever man but not the Son of God because Jesus claimed to be the Son of God.”

Allen Palmeri, associate editor of Baptist news journal Pathway, said, “(Jesus is) the author of Brian Johnson‘s musical talent. When one day he comes to the end of his showmanship on earth, he will have to face the fact that Jesus is the door to God the Father, who is there.”

Johnson‘s views came up because he touches on them in “Rockers And Rollers: A Full-Throttle Memoir“. The book is primarily about his love of cars, and Johnson told The Pulse Of Radio
he has no desire to write a real autobiography. “I hate
autobiographies,” he said. “I think they’re boring and rotten and I’m
not interested. This was just short stories that would be funny and
positive and wasn’t a tell-all book. I don’t like them either, ’cause
it’s usually just some bitter old git who wants to get his own back at
everybody, you know (laughs).”

AC/DC has hinted that the band may hit the road in 2013 to celebrate their 40th anniversary, with Johnson
saying that the group is scheduled to get together soon for a meeting
to discuss the possibility of an anniversary tour and album.
restaurant at the Bridge Marina tomorrow for a private dinner party.

Phil's Place will open to the public on Tuesday.

Phil's drum kit overlooks the restaurant.

"I am excited to be opening. It is going to be a fun place to eat great
food and hang out. It is not pretentious; we are not interested in the
'scene', just a good night out and superb dining experience," Rudd said.

Maitre'd Daniel Rodgers-Purdie said the restaurant was already proving popular.

"We are booked up every weekend until Christmas."

The private opening tomorrow was not the huge party originally planned, Rudd said.

"I haven't invited the band all at once due to schedules but they will
be coming to eat soon. I don't want to do the big opening but keep it
soft at the beginning in the run-up to Christmas and summer.

"If you're coming here to see Nicky Watson, forget it. It is a quiet,
each to your own place. Sure, make some noise and have a good time, but
it is not somewhere you come to be seen."

The restaurant has undergone extensive refurbishment since Rudd bought
it in August. The walls are decked in black and gold flecked wall paper,
and a raised floor houses Rudd's drum kit. A real fireplace, dark wood
tables and black suede chairs give a rock star feel. Above the
fireplace, sit previously unseen AC/DC memorabilia. A jagged brick wall
partially separates the bar area from the restaurant. Around the bar,
stools and sofas with AC/DC tool boxes perched around
There is also a private function room and Rudd has bought the workman's
cafe on the other side of the restaurant which he intends to turn into
part of the restaurant.

Tauranga Bridge Marina Restaurant

"We have development plans but will see how it goes over summer."

The restaurant seats 120 including 60 outside and will be open from 11.30am to 1am.

Chef Cody Hogg has prepared an extensive lunch and dinner menu which
includes a set menu, buffet option, and tapas. There is even a Christmas
Day menu including truffle-stuffed turkey.

"We want locals to come and the menu is priced accordingly but there
are special items for those occasions when you do want crayfish and
champagne, you can get it here," Rudd said.

Nathan Blake is bar manager and general manager is Leo Roberts.

Locals wishing to book can contact Mr Rodgers-Purdie on 07 574 4147.

Since the Bay of Plenty Times broke the news in August that
Rudd had bought the restaurant, the paper has been inundated with
interest from the public, not just in Tauranga but around the world. The
story remained in the most read stories on bayofplentytimes.co.nz for
more than a month.
After
the death of lead singer Bon Scott (in February of 1980), AC/DC nearly
collapsed from the loss. The remaining band members debated calling it
quits and also consulted with Scott's family, and then chose to carry on
with replacement vocalist Brian Johnson of the band Geordie, whom Scott
had once raved about to bandmate Angus Young. With Johnson, they
completed songwriting and recording for their next album, Back in Black.

In the fall after Scott's death, AC/DC nervously embarked on a
20-date tour throughout the United Kingdom.

They'd played several shows
in the United States already, but the British gigs were even more
daunting, as Bon Scott was born in Scotland and a national hero.
These
crucial performances of Back in Black were a test before all the fans who'd loved Scott's theatrics on the band's electrifying previous album, Highway to Hell – and Johnson was beside himself with worry before each gig, especially the inaugural night in Bristol, England.

Thankfully, AC/DC fans embraced the band during the tour, with
Johnston swaggering through the now-ubiquitous title track and "You
Shook Me All Night Long." Back in Black was the biggest album of the band's career, and has sold over 40 million copies to date.

Former AC/DC bassist Mark Evans has admitted the band never had any ''real'' rehearsals that would help with their performances.

AC/DC don't rehearse.

The
legendary rockers never did any preparations for early shows, and former
bassist Mark Evans - who was with the group from 1975 to 1977 - admits
they never changed their attitude as their success grew.

He said:
"There were no rehearsals! My very first gig with them was totally
spontaneous. This was after the audition. I went to see them at a local
pub, saw them play one set, and then I went on stage with them and
played the second set.

"For our first tour of England, they band rented a rehearsal space, but I think we mainly played some Elvis Presley songs.

"Real rehearsals - you know, running through the tunes and making sure everything was right - that stuff didn't happen."

Mark also revealed studio sessions were equally spontaneous, with songs recorded as they were written.
He
explained to website MusicRadar: "Songs would be written in the studio.
No demos. Angus [Young] and Malcolm [Young] would play things for
George Young, and the tunes would be assembled right there. Once we had
the skeleton of a song, we'd record it.

"Angus
was full-on in the studio. When it was time for him to record his
solos, he'd jump around and bounce off the walls, just like he would on
stage. It was impossible for him to play and sit still. For rhythm
tracks, he was somewhat subdued, but for solos, he went wild."
