I don’t think it will come as a surprise to learn that most small businesses do not have a clue about how to use video in their marketing.
The most popular misconceptions are that it is going to cost a ton of money and it takes ages and an army of people to produce. I’m going to dispel both those myths today and show you how it can be simple, inexpensive and even fun.
You can, if you want, have yourself or your staff appear in your promotional video, but that isn’t necessary if you don’t want too. One of the most efficient ways of producing a marketing video for your small business is by using pre existing photos and footage of your business and then using them to produce a video.
In video their is something called the Ken Burns effect, named after its inventor, which takes still photos and makes them appear as if they’re moving. It is extremely effective and relatively cheap to do.
Another great tip is to get a budding Spielberg from your local college, who wants to build their portfolio of work, and put him or her to work on your project.
It’s a win-win situation, as they will gain experience and footage for their portfolio and also earn some money, and you will get a great looking promotional video for your business for a fraction of the cost of hiring a professional videographer.
