It’s hard to keep reminding yourself that he is 18 due to his size and strength. At the moment the view of Pool fans is split, some think he’s great, some think he will be a great player in the future, some think he’s lazy and other think he’s a waste of space?

Well have your say in the poll on the right side of this article and we’ll see what the general opinion is. I’ve set the poll as one vote per person so no Afgan style rigging!

Although we have dipped out the ply-offs in the league we do have the best home record in the league. With five wins, two draws, 13 scored and 2 conceded (lowest in the league).

Growing up my dad always used to talk about the the legends he grew up watching, Suddick, Green, etc. I managed to find out about them via a book by Roy Calley’s which contained a history of the club.

Another book is now on it’s way called Blackpool FC on This Day this time written by Peter Gillett. Peter ran and still works on Seasiders.net and also set up the Seasiders mailing list. The Roy Calley was everything about Blackpool FC up to 1992, 17 years has now passed and the new book Blackpool FC on This Day will cover the last 17 successful years. In that time we’ve had a relegation, couple of promotions, new ground, cup wins etc etc which means there’s going to be plenty in there.

Blackpool FC – On this Day Book Cover

I can’t personally recommend the book yet as I haven’t read it put if it’s like anything else Peter Gillatt has done it will be a great read and source of information.

There is a discount on the book at the moment at Amazon so click this link or the picture to order Blackpool FC – On This Day ahead of release!

Ok, it seems that we beat Newcastle United tonight 2-1 in a league match, crazy crazy times. It was a great night with Bloomfield Road rocking with the South Stand looking great. Newcastle didn’t play brilliantly tonight be looked a lot better than when they beat Cardiff on Sunday.

We were all over them in the first half with numerous shot on target, Harper didn’t seem to be able to handle most of them well so wasn’t as surprise that he didn’t hold the Charlie Adams shot which Brett turned in.

Second half we did well to get the second goal and stand up to pressure from the Toon. We really should have grabbed a third on the counter. It was also good to see Alex Baptiste back in the team and also David Vaughan. We look balanced with Vaughan who plays the ball quick keeping attacks going.

Man of the Match had to go to Newcastle born and Newcastle fan Keith Southern who was awesome.

Wow the toon are in town tonight for what should be a great game. After a dissapointing result at Leicester this weekend it would be great to bounce back against the league’s big boys.

I watched the Newcastle Cardiff match on Sunday, they did ok but only created a couple of chances the one being the winning goal.

The great news ahead of tonight is no Alan Smith who was great playing in the middle of the park. He picked up two yellow cards for late tackles. Nicky Butt should replace him.

Up the pool!

Sorry for the lack of updates recently but it’s great to get back to the blog but most importantly to league football with a trip to Leicester tomorrow. It’s almost 2 years and a month since the opening day of the season in the Championship when we beat Leicester thanks to a scrappy goal from Keith Southern. It’s amazing to think how far we came from when I started watching Pool to that opening day win at the Walkers.

Looking on now it’s again amazing progress from 2 years ago. Our team that day was;

Rachubka ,Barker ,Jackson ,Evatt ,Crainey ,Taylor-Fletcher (Jorgensen ,69 ) ,Southern ,Fox ,Hoolahan (Hills ,81 ) ,Parker ,Morrell

Only five of those players remain at the club, we now have a Welsh international at right back, one of the most promising young center halfs in the division, an Scottish international with Champions league experience, a Welsh international, a player with over 250 top flight appearances and an Algerian international!

Bloody hell we’ve even almost got three sides to the ground!

Make sure you make some noise for the boys tomorrow.
