Apologies for the delay in posting this past week, I've been traveling / working late this past week and only got around to watching this today. I will be traveling again this week, so I will post the next episode ASAP.

The Episode starts off with a scientist in a lab testing ice core samples. Outside we see the FBI gathering. It becomes evident that this guy is one of Sophia's people looking for evidence of a super secret weapon that will help wipe out the humans. An alarm goes off, and he notices that the FBI are coming. Sophia orders him to shut the project down, and after some useless protesting, he does what he is told, and then jumps out a window to his death. Talk about dedication.

Sophia rehashes the fact that there are 2.5 billion of her people that need to be relocated to Earth. Also that in order to do this we need to remove the local population, something that has been mentioned a couple of times now, using literally the same words. Now I can't blame the actors for this shoddy writing, but seriously, they must think that the audience has zero attention span, or perhaps the fact that they try to introduce all these elaborate plot lines that interlink with each other somehow that they forgot what they have written, and have to rehash it all the time to ensure that you don't need to remember what happened. Either that or the viewing public really have no attention span.

We see the Vice President who in an earlier episode was found out to want to Kill the President. The relationship obviously soured when this happened and when the VP makes a suggestion to ask for help from other nations, and he is shot down by Martinez. This is done to sour the relationship between the President and the VP which should be fairly obvious since he did try and kill him. However the writers feel the need to ensure that we are reminded yet again. Later we see the VP meet up with Sophia, as they devise their evil plan to kill Martinez and place him in charge, using a "sweetener" sachet. This was self evident from earlier on in the episode when we see that he enjoys his coffee. The director making sure the camera focuses on the sachet for an extra long time.

We catch up on Senators Lewis investigation into who is an alien or not in the White House. All staff are clear but the Presidents wife is a possible Alien. He takes the big file that she has on her wife, and plants the seeds of doubt. Martinez takes it, and instead of reading it, brings it straight to his wife. If your going to accuse her of doing something wrong, at least know what is wrong. She admits that she is an alien, but not the ET kind, the illegal kind. She never told him because she was afraid it would come out. Like a chump he believes her, but we see her with her eyes open staring, which clearly means she is lying.

In France with the lovebirds

Sean rescues Vicky from the burning building, and brings her back to life this is all part of Dempsey's "evil" plan. After congratulating Sean for an impressive job, he throws him a bag, and shoots himself???? I honestly hope it wasn't the plan all along, as that would make this the stupidest plan in history. Who spends all their life sucking youth from little children only to shoot themselves, unless of course that was an act and he can't die!!!

Sean and Vicky make a runner for it, as you can hear Sirens. They run, until they are in the middle of a field, wide in the open which made no sense to me. Since they were being chased, not to mention the footprints in the crime scene and time of death the arriving police officers could have easily noticed that Dempsey's body was still warm.

So Sean has this secret map, that is 2000 years old. More spymance from Vicky and Sean to come, and Leila will be like, but Sean, I love youuuuu, do somethinggggg...

Alientopia

Alientopia is my self appointed name for the community that Sophia's people live in. Leila cuts her hand on purpose to get to meet with Simon who tells her the secret plan to kill all humans. What I don't understand is why Sophia is keeping Simon alive, I mean his cover is blown, and he is effectively useless to her now. Maybe she has feelings for him, and we know he likes redheads from an earlier episode.

Leila uses her feminine charm on Luis played by the excellent Noel Arthur, who is so far my new favourite character of the show. Unfortunately this is all to predicitable what will happen, that she distracts him, and steals his phone. He soon realises that she has absolutely no interest in him, and then checks for his phone. She's upstairs locked in a room talking to an operator on 911 claiming that they are going to kill us all and she doesn't know where she is, and they need to send someone quickly.

The Weapon

The big reveal at the end of the show is that the weapon is in fact a buried body of a dead person or alien. I'm assuming this has something to do with some sort of virus, that Sophia's people would have to be immune to otherwise this plan is about as solid as Dempseys one to "test Sean"..

All in all when history looks back at The Event, it will be yet another show that tries to copy Lost, that failed miserably.

If you would like to watch, you can do so in HD from Amazon:

This episode begins where the last one left off and in usual The Event style, they rehash everything that happened in the last episode. Thomas died, and Simon is a spy, lets keep stating the obvious.. Full credit to Ian Anthony Daly (Simon) in this episode for his acting in the first five minutes. He really did look like someone who just saw dozens of his friends murdered in front of him.

Sterling feeds Simon a line about how we were able to track the energy signature of the bus, and wants Simon to follow up on this, hoping that Simon will take the bait and call Sophia, which is the real tracking. Simon goes to his office (I'm assuming it's his, and ironically it says Communications on it) and is about to call Sophia who has used portal to transport her bus to the sleeper compound, which I think is close to the Portal array. Not sure about this, since the compound is only referenced in one episode earlier on, where Thomas first inspects the array. And since it looks like it's still inside the United States, and near Washington this would make the NSA, CIA, and FBI look very silly if they were unable to locate it. Just before Simon makes the call a phone starts ringing under his desk. The person on the other side who is either the Presidents wife, or the Alaskan Senator is hiding their voice. You will see later in the episode why this is.

The voice, directs him through the White House past the security cameras to a blind spot, which I find laughable, considering how "secure" the White House is supposed to be. Anyway Simon breaks out and finds his conveniently parked getaway car unlocked no less just meters away from the White House secret entrance. Not only that but there are cameras out here, so one could presume that i his accomplice had placed the car here, you could ID the person using facial recognition. Simon confirms that he's out, and is told, "be careful out there Simon" where Simon states you too.

Blake and the President are discussing how Simon knew that they were onto him. Martinez admits that it has to be someone on his inner circle which has to be the following:

Blake

His wife

The General

Alaskan Senator Lewis

Since we already now that Blake was with him at the time, he can't be the mole, and since the General is probably too stupid to hide his voice, it probably wasn't him either, leaving his wife, a possible sleeper, or Senator Lewis who has nothing to gain from helping the aliens unless she thinks they can get her into power.

They then discuss the sleepers, and their DNA. Blake seems to have ideas, how they can identify the aliens. We learn that Lewis was a doctor, who knows someone in the CDC. We also see that Martinez is really evil by wanting to test every American, at the cost of the taxpayer no less! Blake is stunned by the new plan.

Martinez then tells his wife everything when she asks him whats the test for. He could lie, but instead tells her everything. Lewis tells the President that she doesn't want to be tested, which would set alarm bells to go off if I were he. He walks past her later thinking wait a minute, how could yet another person make a fool out of me, three times in one day no less!!!

The Leila Show

We cut to Leila who if you don't know annoys me so much, that I manage to vomit a little each time she speaks. Her usual victim self calling Daad, where are you?? Also since she is presumably in Michael's house, why is she sleeping on the sofa? These things annoy me. She wanders outside only to run into a guy who is five times her size, smiling at her. This bit was very creepy but we get to see Simon driving in, using the SUV. See, this bit confused me, supposedly we have state of the art camera technology, and even tho the SUV was down an alley, how did the most wanted man in America slip out of sight in Washington DC? It doesn't make sense, since there are cameras everywhere! Not only that but it would take mere minutes to set up a blockade around the City Limits, since you know where he went, and your the President who only moments ago launched a Hind in LA, so why can't you get a "police" helicopter after Simon?

Sophia is in the house that belonged to Thomas. She walks upstairs and finds a photo of him and the woman who tried to kill Sophia a few episodes back. This sends Sophia into a deep depression and she breaks down. It's here she decides that Humans don't deserve to live and wants to wipe us all out, unless we are proven to be useful. I don't want to think what this will involve.Listening to Leila for an hour!! Michael isn't on board with Sophia's plan, and neither is Simon. Later Sophia asks Simon, are you with me? Where he says he is, but then that night wants Michael to run away with him. Michael of course betrays Simon at the last minute, and Simon is carried away.

Sean and his illusions

Sean still in France, wants to do a John McClain against Dempsey, when Vicky gently reminds him that he's a nobody, and that Dempsey is a multi billionaire. Sean's looks like, well, I know how to make computer viruses!! They discuss their plan to take down Dempsey who conveniently has a weak spot. Super Vicky with all her training should have spotted that this was a trap. I mean come on, I thought that was well dodgy! They drive up the mountains where the Frenchman told them to, and they can't find the house, so instead of leaving, they walk around only to be ambushed. Vicky is captured but Super Sean escapes, and goes back to the Frenchman to beat the life out of him. After breaking some bones in his hand, the Frenchman admits that it was all a trap. Sean rides off to her rescue again.

Dempsey has found what he's looking for, and his archeologist lives this time, when he screams at Dempsey. Vicky tells Dempsey everything about Sean, where he decides "meh, lets burn down the building". We see Vicky tied up in the burning building and we don't know if she is going to die or not. My gut says no, but common sense would say that she should since Leila is the love interest for the hero (Sean), but who knows in this crazy world?? :)

No new Episode this week, but it will be up the week after. Looks like Martinez finally figures out his wife's an Alien. Here's a promo:

I have mixed feelings about this show. While I do enjoy the odd Sci Fi Reference, the constant plotholes, bad characters (Leila with her "Ssseeeeaaaaaaannnnnnnnn I'm the most useless person in the world, do something!!!" moments) and the lets completely crazy moments that might keep viewers interested which were all demonstrated in this episode drive me insane, but we know we're gonna get cancelled anyway so trying anything is better than nothing.

Spoilers Ahead - you have been warned

The President & the aliens

This episode starts off where the last one finished, Sophia (the head alien), Thomas (head aliens son) and the other 200 or so of their people are inside a church surrounded by an insane amount of US Army super soldiers dressed as LA Swat teams. I counted something like 50 guys around the church that everybody could see. I mean they all saw them, and everyone could see in. As well as that there were satellite images showing in real time the heat signatures of the people inside, and I mean come on, you should have seen that they were all lining up to get their guns. Grr the stupidity of not using Technology annoys me.

Anyway President Martinez is angry about being "duped" by Sophia and is acting like I hope no American President would, by screaming at his staff, "I want them all dead". One of the Super Soldiers accidentally makes too much noise while trying to drill through the roof of the church, and gets shot. Nobody cares if he died or not.

At this point, as they can't be beamed out via the Portal, they decide to go completely against the entire character development and destroy the Washington monument killing 70 (or so) people. Martinez who has been extremely cocky arrogant and annoying till this point, puts on his Oh my god, what have I done face. At this point he's freaking out and says the stupidest line on television "who knows where they might attack next"?. Sophia calls him, and demands, buses and an Airplane. At this point by the way they don't have a clue that Sophia's technology and Portal array is nowhere near her, or how many other people there are. Based on the other storylines in this episode it looks like the aliens have been here for thousands of years which I will get to later.

Sterling realises that Simon (the undercover alien working for the President) is actually an alien after suddenly remembering where he saw Thomas before, and decides to tracks his phone calls just for the fun of it. Simon stupidly calls Sophia from his "work phone" saying why? I thought we were peaceful? Why why why? Sophia says I had no choice, my son who tried to kill me has convinced me that being a bad guy works cos it gets things done. Then they decide to talk about the fact that they are completely defenseless and that a kitten could probably take them all out. So Blake and the President hear this, and go, stop those buses. Too late since they are already off.

Then the real craziness starts. A hind helicopter comes after the buses and blows up two of them. Thomas and a few other aliens have died, saving Sophia, and unfortunately Leila lived. Sighs :( Sophia and the people on her bus are transported away and everyone is like WOW - that's amazing that they got away from our one Hind Helicopter. I still don't know if the drivers were aliens or not. I'm going to assume not since they were already on the bus.

So if I were the President, I'd probably have given Sophia the chance to explain herself, rather than acting like a douche. I don't blame Blair Underwoods acting, I blame the writers:

Nick Wauters

David Schulner

Lisa Zwerling

Anyway the whole thing was mind numbly stupid, and I will never get that hour back.

Dempsey, Sean & Vicky

Sean and Vicky, (who is the perfect match for Sean) are off in France, just cos, chasing Dempsey (the old guy with the shape shifting face). Now in case you don't know Vicky is the one who tried to kill / frame, have kinky bondage with Sean and Leila. Sean is blackmailing her into doing what he wants. And while doing this he is beginning to fall in love with her (who didn't see that coming since they day they met?) he starts hoping that she will forget that he is blackmailing her. ANNOYING MOMENT Sean wakes up when his enter the code or Vicky's family home will be all over the internet on a mac that can pick up a wireless signal in the countryside *rollseyes*.

They meet a French spy Henry who is the first person besides Vicky to kick Seans ass to the ground. Henry talks to Sean while Vicky gets drunk. Henry tells Sean that Vicky is into him, and suggests that they should take advantage of her. Sean looks horrified, and that's the scene, (as far as I can remember) I didn't really care for the France in California scene.

Meanwhile Dempsey is after finding a cave that nobody else managed to find in France (cos France is remote), and shoots his archeologist just cos he saw whats in the cave, where he finds out he's some sort of Angel or god, or something and needs little girls youth to live, or something. We'll find out next week I suppose

Next week Sophia uses Thomas's companies to buy Amazons entire inventory of Uranium Ore for her Portal array.
