The Barrier's total length is approximately 708 km, more than twice the length of the 320-kilometre-long 1949 Armistice Line (Green Line) between the West Bank and Israel. 61.8 percent of the Barrier is complete; a further 8.2 percent is under construction and 30 percent is planned but not yet constructed. The Gaza Strip's needs range between 240 and 280 megawatts (MW), of which at least 42 percent is purchased from Israel, distributed in separate feeder lines along the Gaza Strip, and six to seven percent is purchased from Egypt, distributed mainly to the Rafah area. The remaining electricity need is supposed to be met by the GPP. Following the latest decline in production, however, the GPP is able to meet less than 13 percent of the electricity needs. This is resulting in a deficit of up to 40 percent, compared to 31 percent in August 2009. The Gaza Electricity Distribution Company copes with the electricity shortage by applying a load sharing system, through which it schedules electricity cuts in one area in order to feed another

New Website Launched - DisputedTerritories.com

We have been getting a lot of hits on our 'Disputed Territories' pages on BlatantWorld.com which are quite text-heavy, and therefore hard to skim through and slow to load, so we decided to build a new website to deal with the issue of territorial disputes. All disputes featured on DisputedTerritories.com will have some general information to begin with, but we will be adding substantially to that with images, maps, facts and figures, timelines, etc...

Our Site ReDesign Is Still Ongoing

Subsequent to re-designing the homepage, we got some very helpful feedback relating to other improvements we could make to the website. The side menu is one thing we have totally changed, along with some other cosmetic changes, and we are beginning to roll this out site-wide. The entire Global Issues section is up there now if you want to see how the new look... looks...

The VIDEO FEED will be deleted

The VIDEO FEED will be deleted, and we will begin to publish all news and new content (including new videos) through this MAIN WEBSITE FEED from this point forward. This move is being made due to it making much more sense when dealing with feed aggregators and search engines...
