If you want to find intellectual property law in Edmonton, then there a few things you should know first.

Check out multiple lawyers and get multiple opinions. With anything as important as this, you need to get multiple opinions from a number of reputable lawyers. Educate yourself online before you go in so you can talk with the lingo well enough to ask some basic questions. By getting multiple opinions, you prevent yourself from being misled by one lawyer in hopes of billing a large number of hours.

Review the process yourself. A lot of the questions you may have don’t necessarily require a lawyer. The site we sourced above is the Canadian government’s official guide to patents, and it goes over a ton of information so you can get an idea of what you’re doing first. Lawyers charge hundreds per hour, so there’s no use getting charged hundreds of dollars for information you could have easily read yourself.

Be aware it can be very expensive. Getting and then maintaining a patent isn’t a cheap process. It can easily cost thousands of dollars. If you aren’t okay with this, then save yourself the money in the first place.

Other strategies can include using a directory to find a lawyer and using Google Reviews to see who is preferred.

Perhaps the man best known for being a lawyer, he had more than a few all-time great quotes. Despite his wit, his landmark legal reputation is what really defines him.

4. Abraham Lincoln

Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

Another US President making the list, he was actually a very famous lawyer. He was the first US President to hold a patent.

5. Johnnie Cochran

If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.

Cochran was best known as the key defense lawyer for OJ Simpson. However, he developed a reputation for fighting for the underdog through-out his career. Over the length of his career, he defended other notable clients like Tupac Shakur, Sean Combs, and Michael Jackson.…
