Finally - Our Last Baby Alpaca Of The Year Was Born Today!!

We finally had our last but certainly not least baby alpaca of the year. This little guy is a real looker! He was born about 11:30am this morning (Sunday, 10/24/2010).

Don't Know What To Do With Those Bags Of Fleece From Shearing??

Just wanted to share one of the ways I get our fleece from our annual shearing processed. I recently utilized Craigslist to locate fiber spinners. I placed very simple ads under the FOR SALE - ARTS & CRAFTS section of Craigslist looking for fiber spinners. Within a few days, I had at least 6 responses and over the next week I received an additional 4 or 5 responses. I was able to work out a deal with a local spinner where she will process our alpaca fleece into yarn and batts in return for half of the fleece after carding. This was a great way to get a product to show potential alpaca buyers without spending any money! Hope this post is useful.
