Two year old Vasyl and 3 year old Victoria came in for a family portrait with Mum recently. Vasyl was full of expressions and I think given all the arm movements that goes with it he would make an excellent politician one day. He wasn’t overly keen on the big hugs from sister Victoria though!! Mum jumped in on a few photos as well which is always great. We encourage parents to join in on the action when they came in for kids photos as what is a family portrait without Mum & Dad. We know its not always easy to make time to get everyone in the family together but you will appreciate it all in the end. To have the wonderful family portraits that you will treasure a life time makes up for any schedule adjustments that are needed. At Bliss we have tried to make it as easy as possible with working parents by having evening and weekend appointments available. Keep in mind to our portrait studio is very child friendly and we have lots of great props to add that little extra something to the photos…our retro red couch is a hot favourite at the moment and looks wonderful.

Amy’s Pregnancy Photographs

Amy came in for a wonderful pregnancy photography session. I absolutely LOVE the last photo with the silky fabric flowing and that far away look in Amy’s eyes. It says to me “can’t wait to have my new baby in my arms”. Pregnancy ‘bumps’ come in all shapes and sizes and although Amy would probably disagree her baby ‘bump was very petite. We love shooting pregnancy photography at Bliss Studio as most couples come in so excited about what is just around the corner. Even when the pregnancy has been not very pleasant most pregnant woman just glow when they get in front of the camera. What makes pregnancy photos even more exciting is that we usually end up seeing these couples back in the studio not long afterwards for newborn baby photos and then all of us here can ooh and aah at the latest arrival. We wish Amy all the very best for her remaining weeks and hope to see you back when the baby bump is gone and you’re holding the result in your arms!!

Tiny Timmy’s Video

Wow! Did Timmy have energy. We had to work fast to capture Timmy’s wonderful personality during his family portrait session as he was determined to be in many places at once. Many of these places were behind our photographer and not in front. Timmy was very observant of everything going on around him and was quick to comment on all the action. Now being a child photographer lets you see many interesting sides to children and many things that capture their attention. For Timmy he was fascinated by rubbish bins…yes rubbish bins. This came about, his Mum and Dad explained, because of his dairy allergy which saw them place emphasis on bad food going into the bin and thus a rubbish bin became his friend. So when he spotted our green ‘bin’ which is used as a stool usually it had to become apart of our studio session. The results are really quite cute. It was also a great chance for Timmy’s parent to have an updated couple photo as well which we encourage all parents/couples to do. We hope you enjoy the video of little Timmy and his family and we look forward to showing them the rest of the family portraits shortly.

Britt and Colin and Baby Piper (Family Portraits Perth)

It was wonderful to see past wedding clients Britt and Colin again this time with a wonderful additional to the family with one year old Piper. Piper was a perfect subject for baby photos and looked straight at the camera like a pro. Mum had bought in a special pink dress that she had worn herself as a child so we were able to get some gorgeous baby photos that will match exactly the ones Britt has of herself. It is little traditions or special outfits that can really make a photo shoot extra special. We encourage all our families to bring in items that might have a special meaning, whether that be a piece of jewelery, clothing or toy. Britt and Colin opted to just have photos of Piper on her on this time as there family is set to expand again in the near future so we look forward to doing a series of newborn and family portraits a little ways down the track. All our wedding clients receive a free family portrait so if we have lost touch with you please give us a call to arrange a time to catch up.

Beautiful Gemma (Baby Photos Perth)

Seven month old Gemma came in for her baby photos recently and she was a real treat to have in the studio. She certainly was pretty in pink. Her engaging stare made it very easy to capture beautiful photos like the one below. It is often difficult to get babies to look in the direction of the camera and the photographer or assistant often have to make complete fools of themselves to get the child to look the right way. That wasn’t a problem with Gemma. We hope next time Gemma comes in we can convince everyone to come in for a family portrait.

ZED!

This is Zed’s second trip to us, he first came in January 2009. He loves his trains, particularly crashing them! Check out his video below. You can see from his very cheeky smile that doing children photography can result in having to let kids get up to a bit of mischief occasionally. The results though are usually worth it! These photographs make you want to jump in with him and play trains as well. Bliss Studio has a whole bunch of toys for children to play with while having their family portrait. No matter their taste or age we have something for everyone. If that doesn’t work we always have other staff members willing to make fools of themselves to ensure we get THE photo. With smiles like that we will have you back anytime Zed. If your child has a favourite toy please feel free to bring it in to your children portrait session. Anything that will make them relax, smile and have fun is always appreciated by the children’s photographer’s. Baby photos are always cute when they have a special toy or outfit to have a photograph with as well. We are happy for you to bring in a suitcase full of ideas!!

Graces Video test

We haven’t seen Adam & Kristy since there wonderful wedding down south a couple of years ago so it was great to have them back for a family portrait with their gorgeous 8 month old Grace. Grace seems a popular name this year as it was only a few weeks ago we had another smiley Grace in the studio for some baby photos. Grace was such a happy little girl and we all had a great time during the shoot. We did a bit of a video to share with you all and show you what fun kids photography or family portraits can be. We hope you enjoy and can’t wait to show Kristy and Adam all the other wonderful photographs.

New Additions To Studio (Perth Photography)

The philosophy of Bliss Studio is simple – to create beautiful, natural family portraits. We want our photographs to really reflect who you are as a family so a lot of our photographs, especially with children and babies is your interaction with them, or them having fun. However, it is sometimes makes for great children photographs or baby photos when you add in a few simple props. It might be a chair or a firemans hat or a favourite cuddly toy. To this end I have recently gone on a shopping mission and come across some fabulous new items that are going to be gorgeous when we start using them in our family portraits. I have a range of wonderful hand knitted hats for newborn photographs, some cute pink and white chairs for the toddlers and some gorgeous oversized cane ‘bowls’ for the babies who are old enough to sit up but not move. I can’t wait to see what they look like in the end result and look forward to the next round of families coming into the studio to experiment with them. As a family photographer one of the challenges is to stay fresh and come up with unique ideas suited to each individual family. The addition of a new chair or hat can open up a whole world of possibilities and keeps us always looking forward to the next portrait session.

We welcome back Amelie and her new baby brother Ewan for an updated family portrait and a whole new round of baby photos. I think 80% of our previous 15 clients have been people coming back to us for a second or third shoot….that’s what we like to see!! Little Amelie sure has grown since we last saw her as a baby. She is now a gorgeous, smiling energetic 2 year old very proud of her baby brother. The whole family got into the act and we had a great time in the portrait studio capturing the various combinations. We all just love the little romper suit Ewan wore covered in guitars…very cute! Amelie had a hard time trying to hold a very wiggly worm Ewan still so they could have a photograph together but she kept smiling and we managed to capture a great family portrait. It is funny how siblings can react to a new brother or sister. It is always wonderful to see when families come in for newborn photography or a updated family portrait that so often the older sibling wants to help and becomes very protective of their baby brother or sister. Of course we also get our share who don’t want anything to do with the baby and we struggle to get them sitting in the same frame, let alone hugging each other!! For the most though little children just love having a real life doll to pretend with and so we get some fabulous photographs as a result. We look forward to watching the Maclennan children continue to grow
