Blogging For Books: Shattered by Dani Pettrey + A FABULOUS GIVEAWAY

Bethany House Publishers sent me a free copy of this book to review

Yesterday I finished Shattered (Alaskan Courage). It was one of those "I can't put it down" kind of books. Once I got into the second chapter, I couldn't stop reading. I was definitely having a few book nerd moments this week, as I told the Hubbs all about the characters and the plot. He gave me that smile, reassuring me in my book nerd status...good thing I take that as a complement. I love books like crazy and I accept it:)

Shattered is part of the Alaskan Courage Series, which are some of my favorite type of books. I love when an author keeps with a set of characters and tells their various stories throughout the series. I hadn't read book 1, but I was able to pick up the story just fine.

The story begins with a murder. Reef McKenna has been accused of murder and now it is up to Piper (his sister) to find out the who the real killer is. No one believes that Reef is innocent, considering his shady past, but Piper doesn't loose hope. The Sheriff pushes for a quick conviction, unexpected leads complicate the investigation, and pursuing the ultimate truth causes Piper to question her friendship with Deputy Landon Grainger. Enticing right!

Since I missed out on reading the first book in the Alaskan Courage Series, I was not able to see Piper McKenna and Landon Grainger's relationship begin, but that didn't distract me from falling in love with these characters. I love how they are devoted to each other. They are best friends, but begin to realize throughout the investigation that somewhere along the way their friendship has changed into something more.

As they figure out their feelings for each other, Landon must learn to repent and forgive himself for his past demons. He learns to rely on His Savior and no longer on vices that he once used to escape the pain that life can bring.

I loved seeing Landon's relationship with His Savior grow, while his love for Piper is strengthened. While all this is going on, a murder investigation is unfolding. I was completely shocked by the ending and it kept me on the edge of my seat.

I am excited for the third book in the series, so I can learn more about the McKenna family. Check your library and see if Shattered is in. It is a great read! You can also purchase it from Amazon HERE or enter to win a copy here on Blissful and Domestic - see giveaway below:)

Good Evening Lovelies! I just got back from a show choir production with my littles, it was beyond fun! The production was music through the decades and thankfully I wasn't the only one in the audience singing along. It was like Glee without the drama. Perfect for the littles and me!
