Divine Favor

“For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].”
(Ephesians 2:10, AMP)

God has already prepared paths for you to take in your future! When God laid out the plan for your life, He lined up the right people, the right circumstances and the right breaks. In your future, He’s already released favor, supernatural opportunities and divine connections. The breaks you need in life have already been preordained to come across your path. If you will stay in faith and go out each day and be a person of excellence, you’ll walk right into these appointments of favor. It will be just as if you stumbled into God’s blessings! When you really understand this principle, you’ll begin to get excited about every single day! You’ll have a spring in your step as you think about what blessing is coming next. It could be today. It could be tomorrow. It could be next week. Keep expecting. Keep believing. Stay focused on the fact that God has already released into your future everything you need to fulfill your destiny. Start declaring seasons of increase over your life. Declare that favor is on you and look for those appointments of divine favor!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for prearranging a good life for me. Thank You for ordering my steps and directing my path. Help me to understand Your goodness more so that I can know You and stay close to You all the days of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
— Joel & Victoria Osteen

As I read the above passage from a brother's FB wall, I am reminded of God's Divine Favour, not only for the past one year but how things had to happen to activate these Blessings. Many a times, when I pray, I expect immediate answers. Yes, they do happen. However, I learnt not to override God's timing for I may have the requests answered (I thought so), often, the price to pay was higher. I have learnt to wait for his Time for in Isaiah 40:31, in His Divine time, I shall soar on wings like eagles; I will run and not grow weary, I will walk and not be faint.

As I rejoice this one-year with Nice, I remind myself of God's Favours, sending many people to fulfil this childhood dream. Thank UFM1003, Nick and Mr Kua for without their help and ingenuity, it could have been an unfulfilled dream. Thank God for my family and friends for the love showered upon Nice. Thank God also for friends who took time off their busy schedule, walked with us at busy malls and streets in the initial months to help me ensure she concentrated on her work and picking from the floor has been much reduced.

Many people had crossed paths with me. Before she came into my life, conversations tended to be, "Where you want to go?", or "Why you come out alone. Where is your family? Do you know it is dangerous to come out alone?" I even overheard, "Very koliang hor. Blind also have to work ah. Noone help her."After she arrive: "How much you buy this dog for?", "She can go up bus, MRT and taxi ah!", "Such a beautiful dog". one instant, a lady came running to us exclaiming, "You were about to bang a pillar but it amazed me when the dog led you away. Do you know a pillar is so close by?" and many more. I am glad these encounters are opportunities to educate about guide dogs too.

Thanks to GDA whose GDMI and O&M instructors helped strengthen the O&M skills to go about independently, with or without a guide dog from 2008 to mid 2012 although there was a one-year break inbetween.

I read somewhere that most guide dog teams will break down or fail in the first year without active GDMI support. Thank God for taking us through this one year filled with fun, excitements, unknown journeys, and of course, not forgetting to instill discipline for her and myself for it takes two hands to clap.

I look forward to the many unknowns we will trudge together, my faithful partner, Nice. Many times, I wanted to throw in the towel when you wanted your way and disciplined just didn't seem to work.

Thank God for the full support the Eye Mate is giving. Advice is always prompt to come when they observe we weren't doing something right. Miki San is always in touch, via FB, emails and phone chats. As a commitment, Shotaro Hara San came in April to assess and strengthened certain techniques which I wasn't doing right.

Although I don't know what tomorrow holds but I know God holds my future firmly in His Hands and protects us under the shadow of His Wings.

Yes, we are His Workmanship, created to do Good Works. God's gift of Nice is for His Divine purpose in which I never fail to recognise. Her gentle, sweet and good nature has indeed melted and will melt many hearts, including 2-year-olds. Last evening, while taking evening walk, a daddy with his boy came along. He exclaimed, "Such a beautiful dog. Can I touch?" The daddy approached in which I consented. Before he left, said, "We are friends, ok." What a wonderful boy! This was only one encounter. More adventures to come!!!

Nice, I love you for you have enhanced my independence and travels to a whole new level. Let us go on educating people about your work and helps our society to be more acceptable to guide dogs as alternative aids. Happy first anniversary to us:)

Hello! I Am Back

Life has become more exciting and more meaningful after the last blog since July 2013. Seemed like so long ago that I might have forgotten about the blogsite which I have been updating since 2007. Please bear with me as this may be quite a long post as I try to recollect the happenings for the last 13 months.

You may recall from time to time from earlier posts of unsuccessfully acquiring a guide dog with the Guide Dogs Association of the Blind. I gave my best in the assessment in December 2012 in which I was uprightly rejected and disqualified. Hence, with the initiation of Nick, Cheng hock and Kendra (who passed on on 1 August), agreeing to go on the programme with me, we successfully raised $20,000 through UFM1003. We were invited to go on air on 13 December 2012 in which the funds was raised within 24 hours. Thanks UFM1003, the donors and Nick who turned this dream into reality. This sum of money was not to acquire or buy guide dog, but is used to support in the maintenance of the guide dog should unforeseen situations arise. Mr Kuaalso gave a breakdown of how the sum might be utilized, including the air fare and accommodation of the assessor (guide dog mobility instructor) who needed to visit Singapore to study the environment besides assessing my suitability of using a guide dog as a mobility aid, my travelling and accommodation expenses for staying one-month in the school and so on. He also qualified that it would take about one year to source for a suitable guide dog from an international accredited school.

With this sum ready, we embarked on the next stage—to source for a guide dog school which would be willing to give a free guide dog. As Cheng Hock has great connection internationally, he took on the task. He approached schools from Japan to USA to Europe—Norway.

However, futility was staring at us for the first five months. In mid May, he rang me and said, “Lee Lee, I still don’t have good news yet. The Norwegians wanted to give but had not heard from them. A school in USA was willing to give pups but not trained guide dogs. I had written to Japan but no reply. We may have to settle for the worse”. Although I resigned to the fact and that I might have to return the money to the donors by the end of 2013, I still continued to pray for an open door.

When I picked up the phone on the evening of 28 May, Cheng Hock’s voice came through delivering the good news with excitement that Eye Mate Inc Japan would be sending an instructor in the next few days to assess my suitability of acquiring a guide dog. I was elated and we met with Alvin at Swensens in Parkway Parade the next day to discuss plans as it was confirmed that Mr Shotaro Hara would arrive on 4 June and depart on 7 June. Eventually, we put him up at Grand Mercure Roxy Singapore, not only because the hotel was having a promotion but I was familiar with the area and would be confident to take him around the vicinity. Thank God that SIA was running promotion too.

Mr Shotaro Hara arrived on 4 June, hence,, upon completion of some formalities and paperwork, I took him around Singapore for the subsequent two days. While we trravelled on buses for the assessment on 5 June, we took the MRT on the 6.
Proper assessment commenced after he visited my home to assess if the environment was suitable to accommodate a guide dog. Aaron came to pick us at the Toa Payoh Hub, proceeded to the Rochor Road Bean curd for some light snacks. We then went to the Marina Barrage in which He took more pictures of the scenery from the rooftop in which we could get a bird's eyeview of the island of Singapore. He took care of his own dinner for the evening, window shopping around the vicinity.

On June 6, After meeting him, walked around the Parkway Parade perimeter. We then took a bus to a train station. I showed him the intricacies of our rail network. Our last stop was at Lucky Plaza to pick up some souvenirs. We had a sumptuous dinner at GuMaJia Restaurant in which Kendra was the star for the evening. Gwyn, the boss brought her son specially to capture a shot with her.

When he departed on 7 June, he assured me that I qualified but was to wait for an official email from Mr Takao Shioya, the president. His parting words, “You are all ready to go. I am thinking of the dog I have for you in Japan now.” He added, “We don’t have class from August to September because it is too hot to train. You will come in September if all goes well”. Cheng Hock then advised him with regards to the procedure of importing a guide dog into Singapore, which included the compulsory vaccinations for the dog and the documents needed to be approved by AVA before the guide dog touched down at Changi Airport. The confirmation email arrived on 26 June from Mr Takao Shioya and Notes for the walking nstruction arrived on 9 August, the same day that we booked the air ticket.

Thank Cheng Hock and Takao San for making the arrangements; for Cheng Hock told me, "Lee Lee, I don't want you to be bogged down with logistics. I'll handle this for you. You just go, train and come back with your guide dog. You have waited all these years seize this opportunity."

I jetted off from T3 on SQ636, having sent off by mother, brotehr, maid and Collette, arrived at Haneda International Airport at 6Am Tokyo time. As I was earlier by 30 minutes, a mandarin-speaking ground crew accompanied me till Till Shotaro San showed up at 6:30am. I was greeted by cold winds as it was autumn. Excitement overtook the chill and I asked many questions travlling in his car.

Later did I know that training to walk without a cane commenced upon arrival at the school. The cane was confiscated and I was supposed to follow his verbal queue. He would be my instructor for the next one month.

While at lunch, he said, “we will go shopping in a while”. It wasn’t exactly a shopping trip per say. He assessed my ability to cross streets and intersections without audible signals at traffic junction and taught some queues I am to issue my guide dog for a good working relationship for the years to come.

While touring the facility, walked by the kennel. Shotaro San’s intention was to slide open a little window so I may get a glimpse of the environment. Lo and behold! A dog on training hurriedly sped towards our direction. It greeted me and was instantly instructed to go back.

I don't know if I was excited or couldn't accustom to the time there, I woke up at 2:30Am Singapore time. As the regular bathroom would not be operational till after 7:00 a.m., I was directed to use the smaller one. Breakfast was quite sumptuous for I don’t eat so much even at home. It was to be a daily affair. I needed to butter the bread , to be accompanied by a cup of tea and a cup of yoghurt.

At 10:30 a.m. we gathered and everyone—instructors and trainees introduced ourselves. The lesson
“Don’t Free” was kind of interesting for I was taught handling the leash and harness. I never knew there were so many ways to direct, using the leash in different positions and methods. Rfer to the picture to understand. Different correction techniques require the handler to hold the leash and harness differently.

Japanese curry rice, salad and oranges was the menu for lunch. The sun was glaring as I walked without using a white cane for the first time. The different verbal queues were the orders as we walked through three intersections with Shotaro San playing Juno.

Every training will have pictures taken for keep sake as permission was granted by the school and my fellow trainees, all of whom were receiving their 2nd or 3rd guide dogs. Among them, Ms Michiko could converse in English, be it limited and I limited Japanese. Certain days, we shared the communal bathing facility due to the lack of time for life was quite regulated.

I shall follow up with subsequent post with regard to my training and Life after Nice becomes apart of me.

Adventure in Waiting

June and July had been exceptional months. I took on a new project--painting!

Painting? I hear you! You are right. Having visited Did/a>, Jeremy and Sharon decided to take Uncle William and myself into the journey of colours. Although Uncle Willian was excited at the beginning, due to family restriction, he opted out. Nonetheless, I would not allow this to deter me and onward we march.

Arteastiq@the Mandarin Gallery provided the unique ambiance. So far, the photos posted on FB were very encouraging. You may ask, "How do you paint? You have no inclination or the concept of colours". No worries, Sharon is very patient and we use acrylic paint, which is easily washable. The combination of fingers and brushes make the paintings unique in themselves. These art pieces would be auction for charitable causes.

Jeremy and Sharon would advise me on the colour combinations and the quantity to dish out so the colour combinations will be just right.

Another milestone will take place in September. Will update when the time is appropriate. However, I am eagerly anticipating for the moment to arrive.

Before this defining moment, August 17 will see SouthEast Asia's first Concert in Darkness at Scape Warehouse. Local celebrities and guides from Did/a> come together for a fun-filled and musical unique evening.

The paradise Kingdom Team had opportunities to minister in four churches in Johore from 28-30 June. All sessions were well attended. All of us knew the Holy Spirit was at work for we had such unity that never took place before this. Every session, the Holy Spirit will give us insights what to share and we were joined by a new emcee--Ying Jie. because Melvin had other engagements.

The last session was for a banquet of 180 guests. This information wasn't made known to us. I was given the honour to roll the ball first. I asked the Holy Sprit how to get the attention as it was a sit-down dinner. His reply, "Ask them if you are beautiful," in which I laughed. After giving much thought and confirming with Him I went ahead. True enough, throughout the 20 minutes or so, no cutlery sounds were heard. They were all listening attentively. Praise God that all went well. Although we reached home past midnight, it was all worthwhile. Praise God!

Being alumnus of FCBS, we were invited to attend sharings by special guest--one of which was Pastor David Damien. I came home with a greater desire to serve God, learnt that worship does not necessarily need the accompaniment of music or instruments. It must arise from our hearts.

10 participants were invited by 938Live for a focus group discussion on 20 July, in which I was among them. We were given a tour of the studio and made new friends.

Thank God for giving me the opportunity to be an internet VJ. I had interviewed four groups of guests and the trailer was also completed. It will go on the airwaves of In988.com soon. Please tune in.

That's all for now. Till the next post....

An Extraordinary but Unexpected Two Months

Since I left off in early March, much had taken place. Firstly, our Gospel sharing sessions on the 29 and 30 March (Good Friday and Easter Sunday) saw many giving their lives to Christ. We were rejoicing with the new believers who approached and wanted to know more of our stories. An encouragement was a sister even approached me to buy my CD. Upon hearing I have not released any, I could feel her disappointment.

Thank God for bringing more sponsors to support the Paradise Kingdom team. Bonafides Beauty was the latest addition to come on board. Each of us was given ten sessions of skin care with products and haircare. My appreciation to Ms Sylvia's generosity.
In March, Sleep-Ezy also supported us in which we gave our testimonies about two weeks ago, having used the pillow for about three months. With this pillow, I am now able to enjoy uninterrupted sleep and am able to drift at ease into lala land.

Work with Whizheartz Edu-Centre gave me lots of opportunities to meet and made new friends. I was rewarded with the first pay check from the wonderful Minds from Lenny who I helped to co-ordinate the preview session of the Fingerprint signs at the Singapore Management University in early April. This came about after Mr Carl Lim wrote an article in LianHeZaoBao on 26 March. The responses was overwhelming, which even surprised Ms Leny herself.

DiD will be holding the Concert in Darkness (CID) which evolved from the inaugural Music an the Dark (Mid) last year. This year, I took on a more proactive role as one of the performers. With Kelvin as my coach, I saw a tremendous improvement in my vocal prowess and technique. Of course, all these improvements would not have been possible without the patient coaching of XiaHui laoshi too. While Kelvin trained me to sing like an artiste of the 90s, my confidence had been boosted with each practice session. Just went through the second formal assessment yesterday, a result I was rather satisfied with, after all the unintentional yelling and shouting, taking a group of secondary students who were told by their teacher they were a bunch of students with no hope, now that they were condemned into the Normal Technical Stream. I was appalled upon hearing this. I used my personal story to hopefully encourage them to pursue their dreams and ambitions. As teachers nowadays attain better education, their role is to promote learning, encouragement and boosting the confidence of students instead of demoralising and condemning them. What kind of training the National Institute of Education and Ministry of Education give to so-called potential educators?

My trip to visit Mike was postponed till God knows when especially as he is busy these days. Viola had resigned from FCBC with the intention to return to Hong Kong to be with her family. I wish her well in her future endeavours. I accompanied her to see doc Tham for the final time to ensure all's well on 14 May. As little Jayden was been awarded there, dropped in to pay him a visit. I was glad to learn that he had recovered from a persistent fever. He was back to his cheerfrul self again.

My mom, brother and sister took a short trip to the Ghenting Highlands from 7-9 May in which I was running the show at the home front, constantly calling home to check on the FDW, especially when we were out at work. Thank God for protection for nothing major cropped up.

On 26 May, with the dedication of Jeremy and Sharon, I took on Acrylic painting as a new learning journey. Although it was meant to be an abstract form of painting, my Facebook friends complimented me for an excellent job and could make up it was a stalk of lily, which is still blooming in my home. I am eagerly looking forward to the next painting session. I was thrilled when the manager of the Arteastiq at Mandarin Gallery asked to take a photo of the painting. Thank God for such a fabulous opportunity that I now can play with colours which has been one of my dreams. Since a child. I was given crayons, colour pencils and magic pens to play with but was never taught that they could create wonders.

I rejoiced with KaiYu who told me that she attained an A1 score for her literature paper in the mid-term exams. This is a great booster as I am now more confident to take more students should the opportunity come by. Tilda also did quite well, despite only having two lessons.

I joined Colette and her family for a concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 19 April by the Holam Gospel Singers from the USA. We were greatly blessed and ministered by the songs and their way of presentation. Even her niece had a fun time too.

I'll end off this post with a sad note in which two friends were taken into Glory, Andrew on the 25 April and Wendy Ng, 30 April. Although we felt these were untimely deaths, who can fathom the Wisdom of God? I nearly recessed into depression, wrote to Doc Tham led to believe I was going through perimenopause. Thank God he rescued me in time. I believe that when I write the next post, my trigger finger would be healed .

Shall end here for now.Till the next post.....

Thanksgiving

March 2013 is here. Time really waits for no one. I deliberately refused to make any concrete plans for 2013 having gone through the episodes last year, fully aware God will. Indeed, He is really amazing. After the Christmas events, the Paradise Kingdom Team has been receiveing more invites from churches.

Furthermore, the Make Over Inc (Ms Brenda Goh) through Ms Agnes Tay, AT Marketing Consultancy gave the whole team a new look on January 25. The pictures were really gorgeous.

Not only that, Ms Carol Chiam arranged Ms Xia Hui as the vocal coach for Tan Lily and myself. Although only had two lessons, I found myself singing with more conviction and confidence as I employ the techniques consciously.

On 28 February, we were invited by the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for food tasting session at the new dining concept—restaurant at Ngee Ann City ( BeanStro by the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf). Our next two engagements will be happening on the Good Friday cum Easter weekend in Johore Bahru and Singapore. Do see our Facebook page for details and come join us!

As I mentioned earlier that I had not made any plans for 2013 but God opened up an opportunity to partner Whizheartz, a four-year-old SME founded by Nick Sim and his friends. We had a few meetings with potential clients and trainers. We are in the midst of drafting proposals to conduct training/motivation programmes be it onn short or long term contracts. Nick, Jeremy and myself will hold weekly meetings via Skype to monitor progress and outcomes. Should you or your organisation wants to organise such events of motivation with the difference, feel free to contact us.

Thank God that after taking nearly one year of the Fit Solution, my health is improving. I recorded in December 2012 that no new growth had been found but the good news is that I feel that I am losing the excess baggage in a positive manner with a significant improvement in my thalassemic condition. I no longer suffer from breathlessness when climbing the overhead bridge and going on brisk walks. I managed to introduce to Ing Ing and her sister, Ben, Lily and Dorothy. Hopefully, they would also see and feel the improvement in their health overall. If God willing, I hope He will open a door for this to be an income stream for me.

January and February saw two first. In the past eight years, I had no inclination and urge to send a Chinese new year hamper to Doc Tham. However, a voice kept prompting, “you must send him a hamper, regardless the amount”. Obeying, diligently did my research and “da!!!” called Bevien. The company she is working for carried the hamper I was thinking for which was within my budget. I called Sister Nina, his assistant to enquire after something and she told me the hamper was very beautiful.

The second first: I ordered some Chinese new ear goodies from Ean with the intention to consume them. However, God spoke and I cheerfully gave them to Monica who told me they tasted delicious. Thank God my obedience reaped positive results.

Monica surprised me when she gave me a new iPhone cover on 6 February when we met in ex as she said mine was wearing off. It felt so cool with youths telling me it looks funky and nice. I also took the opportunity to have dinner with Tommy and Tilda who met us there. Thank you.

Nick gave me the opportunity to attend the Family Constellations held from31 January to 3 February via a kind sponsorship from Jonathan. It was an interesting as it models the “Encounter weekends” without involving spiritual elements. I really learnt a lot about myself and my mindset. Slowly, but surely I am becoming more positive and energetic. I also treasured the opportunities of making new friends and acquaintances.

I also met up with Alvin, Seretta (the second guide dog handler), Sherrie and Ying at Swensons in Parkway Parade on 30 January. We had almost three hours of catch-ups, a rare opportunity.

On the same day, Claudia and I met at the AMK Hub where she blessed me with two sets of clothes for the Lunar new year. It was kind of surprise as I wasn’t expecting it.

I initiated a meet-up with MayXiang Jie on 4 February at the new Rediffusion office. Although the renovation was ongoing, the environment felt cosy. It was a good catch-up time. Nowadays, we communicate via Facebook very often.

Eileen, Annie and I had a wonderful lunch at Tamiko Tokyo at the Keppel Bay. Its environment was very inviting with man-made nature surrounding its exterior. Both of them caught great shots which I wish I could post them here. The dish we ordered was excellent both appealing to the eyes and appetising to the mouth and tummy. A company had their "lo Hei" there. We were caught up in their celebratory atmosphere too. They must be celebrating Lunar new year lunch. We wished Agnes could join us. Perhaps, the next time.

On 8 February, I finally met up with Rui Lan. I said "finally" because we had lost touch for more than 20 years. Thanks to Colin from Ocean Butterflies because her son, Elton was one of the finalist of the V Singers. They had a show in the Scape and Rui Lan wanted me to come along. Although Elton was only 15 years old, his singing was powerful. Jiayou Elton, you can go very far. Glad I went for I received a surprised from Colin--the six cds which my mom accidentally discarded on 8 September 2004. Praise God, I now have a brand new set. Although Colin was surprised at my appearance, he presented me and my photo albums which he kept for almost two years.

In January, Weng Yew conveyed that we were asked to volunteer to shoot a promo trailer for FCBS. Betsy, Joanna, Zechariah, Denise, Mirabel, MeiYunn, Weng Yew and myself volunteered on February 5. With Sharil as the director, we had a wonderful evening in which Pastors Tai Tong and Kang Ying were present throughout, supervising the whole procedure. When the trailer was aired last weekend, it turned out to be hilarious and hearty laughters rung throughout the auditoriums of Touch Centre and Touch Community Theatre. My prayer is that God would send more people to give off 2-4 months of their time this year to equipped themselves in His Word.

Work at Dialogue in the Dark went on as usual, with badge eight of interns to begin their internship tomorrow. The student interns so far have been a fun group, learning to work with us and vice versa.

Since October last year, After Mr Carl Lim of ZaoBao wrote an article, I have been getting invites for media coverage. The last article carried in the Zaobao on February 17 sparked another media showcase—"Secret in the Hood"—a new programme of Channel U.

Sherelene called Sing Yee the Ops Manager and the producer would visit DiD next Saturdayy. She also have the intention to attend the event of the Paradise Kingdom on 30 March.

On 13 January, I was invited by Nick, going on his evening programme at In988.com. It was a quiet evening and really enjoyed the casual chat session.

O yes! How could I forget the Lunar New Year which fell on 10 February this year. It was a quiet affair for me, apart from the first day in which relatives gathered at my home. All of us went to my sister's on the third day. It ended on a high note with relatives coming on the 14th day in commemoration of my late grandma's 30 death anniversary.

In the home front, we have engaged the service of an Indonesian FDW since January 8 and she is coping well so far. Apart from the language miscommunication at times, she is doing well. Hope she will stay on.

This is all for this round. More to come as the year progresses.

In my January post, recalled I had so much hope that when Doc Tham's verdict for surgery was final on February third, uncertainties set in. I recalled was gathering information of how I might volunteer with Singapore International Foundation having attended their talk in January at the Arts House. I went with Dorothy who I have been praying for the healing of her right eye as a result of a nasty fall in September 2011 and her "craving portal" project.

After the myomectomy and the contract with Save22 concluded in February, God had the idea that I'd be equipped in the FCBS which I prayerfully obeyed. As I could not afford the fees for ACCM, God opened the Way. I paid $100 for the whole course in which I had benefited much in many aspects--including persecution. Praise God!

Thank God for sending many young people in our midst for I have been greatly encouraged through them. Their never-ending energy, enthusiasm and zeal was so contageous that it still spurs me on to do things for God. The teachings by the pastors and marketpplace ministers also taught me much.

It was a very wonderful interesting journey in which I learnt what a mission trip was all about. In fact, we felt it was more of a rest and relaxation outing led by Pastors Kang Ying, Catherine Foo and James Sng.

We went to Blakang Padang, an island in Batam in which We saw "Singapore" in the 1960s to 1980s. Although it was only from 13-14 July, we learnt much.

Upon the completion of FCBS, God immediately opened the door to be part of the ministry team "Paradise Kingdom", formed by Sister Carol Chiam. Praise God for opening doors to five churches both in Singapore and Johore Bahru in which the mighty power of the Holy Spirit touched many lives who received Him as their Lord and Saviour. We only shared our testimonies in which God worked miracles. We are only His instruments, 2 Tim 2:20-21, "In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work". I know I am still being moulded by His hand that in time to come, I can fulfil His higher calling in my life.

The same goes for Gilbert, Dominic, Abel, Auntie May, Tan Lily, David, Melvin, Nick and Sister Carol. Keep praying for each other.

On 20 December, I ran into a Thai lady who confessed that she was on her way to commit suicide. Thank God for His Wisdom that I talked her out of it, sharing God's love with her. I pray that as He used me to sow the seed, He will send someone to reap the harvest.

God opened doors in May and October in which sister Carol and I shared our testimonies at the Global Business Network and the Bukit Arang Church in which many business people and Mr Seah Kian Ping were touched through the move of the Holy Spirit.

Rene and I have been praying for each other these years since 2008. Thank God that He not only delivered him from a debt in which he did not owe but also blessed him with a job in China. Rene: if you happen to read this, still praying for you. May 2013 bring you greater success.

Thank God for Facebook in which I can still communicate with my cousin, Amy who migrated to the USA with her husband and girls. I realised we communicated more nowadays then when she was living here. Amy, keep safe and healthy.

The workfront saw several positive changes. Dialogue in the Dark remained constant, gave a few motivation talks on my own accord, has been blessed with a tutoring opportunity with KaiYu through Mr Carl Lim's article carried in Lianhezaobao on 16 October. I started a temp assignment with YuZhen Jie since Mmid September. She has been instrumental in ensuring my health improves after the myomectomy for she has been tirelessly seeking sponsors so I can continue taking the Fit Solution having seen and heard my testimony.

Praise God!

This December was sort of different in which I was treated to at least eight feasts with the good news from Doc Tam that no new growth has been detected. Praise God that my next appointment will be in December 2013. I also had the opportunity to refer several friends to him who were very satisfied and happy with his services.

Meeting up with Samuel, Vera, Natasha, David and Eliot was the most joyous highlight for the month. The children had indeed grown, more matured and learnt to care for one another. The parents confided that by giving the opportunity to stay abroad helped them to treasure what they have and own now. They shared that a bear nearly rampped down their door one night when Samuel attempted to capture a shot of it. It was a black bear. When he noticed flashes of light, it made a dash. Fortunately, his home was spared.

PangYing Jie and I met in Coffee Bean at the Rail Mall on 30 December in which we had a good catch-up session despite her busy schedule. We agreed to keep each other in prayer.

I ended 2012 with a late meal at Pasta Mania with Jaafar, in which we had a great catch-up opportunity, returning home in time to watch the count down on tv with my mother.

I have been blogging of acquiring a guide dog year in year out yet, no good news. Encouraged by friends, I returned to GDA in May but was told on 17 December that GDV deemed I am not suitable to have a guide dog at this point in time. Thank God, while a door closes, another window opens. Hopes this dream can turn into fruition in 2013 by His Divine Plan.

Although 2012 had not turned out to be as I expected, it was still a year I would remember. HongYi said in January that God will shake the whole world and it would begin with his children. Never in my wildest dream have I expected I would be one of those.

July-Sept 2012--Eventful and Interesting

The last post in June was short but captured what happened during the 2nd quarter.

I made a lot of friends while studying at the Faith Community Bible School, (FCBC). I thank God that the church subsidised 90% of the course and I learnt insightful lessons from all the pastors and marketplace ministers. I now know I must be an effective instrument for God, if sharing the Gospel is not possible, using my personal testimony is an effective tool too.

God spoke Words which I released to bless others, for example, in July the Holy Spirit prompted me to write to Dr Tham which I procrestinated for 4 weeks. When I finally obeyed, was surprised at the reply that came back. God is using me to be an intercessor, not only to pray for others but also to stand by them. The practicum of the course gave me more boldness to share Christ with others, which I did not have the courage to do so prior to the course.

Although financially tough, God blessed me unexpectedly during the few instances, while going to work, people would pay for my taxi fares when I asked them for help to see bus number and unexpected love gifts of finances.

God is good for He brought employers to offer me part-time jobs, with the completion of FCBS. I pray that God would help me to manage my time wisely, so I may glorify His name through my performance.

Alvin had a mild stroke on 4 July but did not incapicitate him.

Thank God, he is still able to work and he allowed me to pray for him when he was hospitalised.

I enrolled again with GDA in the quest for a guide dog. Thank Lisa, the O&M instructor who helped to perfect a few routes so I can travel more independently.

All my dogs had been adopted, except one who is 3 months old. He is very sticky and adorable.

My mum celebrated her 71 birthday last Saturday in which all the little ones had as much a great time catching up, like the adults.

My Cousin, Amy migrated to the USA with family in August and I wish her all the best there. I also pray that the children could adapt to the environment and school, making new friends, at the same time not to forget her friends and relatives here.

God, I commit my uncle and auntie into your hands; that you will be with them and heal them of the stroke and nerve problems. Lord Jesus, strengthen every cell, tissue, organs, the circulatory system, that they would eventually be able to manage themselves so cousin Lee Cheng can go look for a new employment and cousin Lee Ngoh can work with a peace of mind. I also pray for our families that you will visit those who are yet to know you that you will claim them for your Kingdom. I pray all these in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Exciting May and June 2012

I finished my last post being excited about registering in the FCBS. Praise God! FCBC granted me a 90% sponsorship. How time flies! I am now into the last week of the first term. Thank God for understanding pastors who not only allow me to hand in my assignment a little later but allow me to leave the class midway for work as I still need to sustain myself financially. There are so many exciting facets about the Bible that I now can understand a little more. God has been good too, always bringing blessings when I least expect.

A few instances when I left the class late. Strangers have been paying for the taxi fares when I approached them to see a particular bus number. Not only that, I also had more than $10 to keep, a big surprise!

Thank God that my thalassemia has been confirmed by Dr Tham during my post-op review on 12 June. Also thank God that He has cleaned my uterus, no more fibroids! Hallelujah!!! Doc Tham could see the Joy on my face and was happy that the nearly 9-year battle is eventually over.

The recovery process

Many friends had been concerned about the recovery after the myomectomy. Praise God that I could manage on my own starting from the 2nd day. Home coming was a joyful occasion as I can enjoy the luxury of being on my own bed, although was sleeping on my Mom's for about two weeks upon her insistence.

The last time she put me on a special diet but this round, I stopped it because a lot of attention to detail had to be observed. We had came to an agreement that I'd eat whatever she cooked, except seafood.

The last surgery, Dr Tham gave me laxatives to soften the stools. It was not to be this round. I suffered from bulks of constipation for five days, after more than three attempts on the fifth day then I could clear the bowers. Checked with a friend who had the same type of surgery a year ago. She conquered with me too. So, I was not travelling on the lonely road afterall. On the first week, had to empty the bladder hourly fearing the wound might be affected. Even sleep had to be disrupted too. Thank God, it's all over now and I could return to routine sleep hours.

As I had not experienced any pain, I started going out upon the removal of the surgical stockings and the plaster, which was about 18 days later.

Dr Tham asked me what I had eaten for the wound had healed very nicely. When I said, "No seafood," he said, "It's a chinese thing. You can eat anything". He also encouraged me to give Praise and Thanks to God for this miracle.

My fear was not with the surgery itself but the overdosage of the anaesthesia for I had heard of stories that some don't wake up from it. One of which happened to a friend's mother.

I spent 3rd April with Monica as it was her birthday. We had lunch at Compass Point and spent the greater part of the day catching up at her cosy home. We enjoyed the day although no birthday cake!

My cell group had an excursion at the Labrador Park on 7 April as a TGIF outreach event. Although only two visitors responded to the invitation, we had a great time despite the rain midway through the trail. We learnt more about this park and the significance it made to the early christians who came to Singapore to live or to trade. Dinner at the Bukit Panjang Hawker Centre was great for I shared a table with the children and noticed Kai had grown up, ordering his own food.

I commenced work at Dialogue in the Dark on 18 April. I took a few minutes to familiarise with the exhibition again. As I walked through the theme rooms by myself, the scripts gradually returned. Of course, the first tour wasn't as good as I had expected. Nevertheless, I was happy to resume work again.

Appreciate Wesley's staying behind to observe and providing positive feedback to help improve my tours for subsequent visitors.

About three weeks ago, I was constantly awakened by sharp pains from the left side of the incision. Sought Dr Tham's advice who told me that the intestines were making some adjustments. He also advised me to start light exercises to speed up the healing process.

Took his advice, the pain has gone. He also suggested me to start taking Evening Primrose Oil and Iron/Folic acid when I asked him which was good to take. He said, "Both also good for they regenerate the cells".

After the 2003 surgery, I had episodes of upper body cramps and he told me it was premenstrual syndrome. Then, he prescribed EPO which not only controlled hormone levels but also kept the growth of the fibroid at bay. I stopped taking it because the price had increased and I wasn't gainfully employed for a period of time.

From this episode, I realised that while I can live without somethings, some vital supplements are must have to keep you away from the surgeon's knife. This is especially true for me as it runs in my family. I am praying that this stops here and future generations will not suffer from this condition as medical costs is on the rise.

I had applied to the FCBS and am waiting for the result of my application. Hope this will come to fruition as I want to learn to be more attentive and sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Shall end here for now. Sayonara till the next post.

God's Grace, Goodness, Divine Healing and Provision

As Mentioned, Jun accompanied me for the pre-admission test on 28 February. The nurse brought us to the hospital side where I was given the estimated bill size, a bottle of laxatives and for the pre-admission test. The doctor who did the test was informed that the results needed to be out in 1 hour for I was slated to see Dr Tham who had instructed me the Thursday before that I should see him after the test, for he would give me more instructions to prepare for the surgery.

As I was not scheduled for an appointment officially, naturally, waiting time would take a little longer. Jun became a little impatient. After about 40 minutes, Dr Tham saw me. He instructed that I should begin bowel prep at home after dinner on 29 Feb when I asked, "Do I need to do bowel prep? I dread the solution. It was horrible the last round," Came the reply, "You can drink it with fruit juice to mask the taste. I want you to have a good rest after the operation. It is crucial for your recovery".

I asked, "Cannot eat breakfast like the last time?" He replied, "Take a light breakfast by 7am in the morning of 1 March." However, no fibre, milk nor dairy productes were permitted. He said, "Take a few crackers and drink apple juice. That will do," to my question, "What is light breakfast?"

Jun interjected out of concern, "If she wants to remove her womb, can she tell you on the day itself?" I said, "I have no conviction to have a hysterectomy. I know it will solve my problem once and for all, I don't want to put myself in an irreversible situation". He said, "I know this is very personal. Tell me what you want, I'll do it for you. It's ok that you don't have the conviction. Then, a myomectomy shall be it". Turning to Jun, continued, "Had talked it with her many times but she still wants to only have the fibroids removed. I respect her decision. Leave it to her".

I said, "I only have one request. Please talk to me before you all knock me out," to which he replied, "I will talk to you. Don't worry. I do everything by myself. This is not KK Hospital".

He asked, "Do you still have the surgical stocking and the binder with you?" As my answer was negative, he said, "We'll give them to you. You'll wear them at the commencement of the surgery.

Before I left the consultation room, said, "Doc Tham, I am having throat irritation leh. Can operate or not?" He said, "Oh no. Cannot leh. Is it very bad? I'll give you antibiotics. Take 3 times a day. It should be better by then".

Praise God! Dr Tham confirmed that the HB level had gone up to 9.2, therefore, no bt required.

I went to MediaCorp to collect a book and to Anna's's salon for a haircut. By the time I got home, it was past 4pm. While Jun was with me, she was very helpful by talking it through making sure it was what I wanted.

29 Feb was relatively quiet. I went about the house aimlessly, listening to a few audio books, spending my afternoon packing things for the hospital stay. I took the laxatives after dinner at 6pm, the cycle started at 6:30pm till 1:30am. I cried many times during these hours for the anus hurt a lot with each cycle. No one could help me. I knew I needed to be strong. Thank God no one knew my ordeal for I managed to hide from all of them.

Barely could catch some sleep after 2:30am to be awakened by 4:00am by my mom who was more anxious than me. Cousin Lee Cheng and Mong picked me up at 6:10. I was admitted at 7:07am on 1 March. The nurse oriented me about the room having changed into the hospital gown. She said, "Just call us when you need. We will help you. She placed the call bell under my pillow because this was the best place. One of them attempted to erect 2 cot sides for fear I might fall but I told her one side will do.

As my auntie was unwell too, I urged Lee Cheng to leave as I was settling well in the ward, 4D. I began texting friends for prayer support for I was gripped by fear.

She returned at 12 noon as the nurse told her earlier they would begin to prepare me at 12pm for the surgery was scheduled at 1pm. I knew it was scheduled at 2Pm for I arranged it by myself. No point arguing with the nurses as they were following orders (what was written in the case sheet).

Moreover, the call had to come from the operating theatre staff, located on the 2nd floor who needed to come to the ward to get me.

However, it was not to be. At about 11am, an Indian nurse came to shave the affected part. When it was nearly time, everything took off very quickly. After some formalities, I was transferred onto a trolley bed and wheeled to the operating theatre. Unlike KK Hospital where a patient would wait at the holding area, straight into the OT!

On the way there, she told me 2 doctors were waiting already, one of whom was Dr Tham, the other Dr Teo. Upon seeing me, "Hi Lee Lee, How are you feeling?" came the smiling familiar voice, with the machinery humming upon entry, replying, "Hi Doc Tham. I am apprehensive and fearful and I only managed to finish seven tabs of the antibiotics leh".

He answered, "I am glad you are fearful. If you have no fear, then, I don't want to operate on you. You may be a terrorist or a suicide bomber, carrying a bomb in here. Then, I scared of you. It’s good enough. Don't worry, just leave it to me. When you awake, everything will be all right. You just sleep. Dr Peh is your anaesthetist. She will make sure you are comfortable".

As he saw the nurses were having a little challenge transferring me onto the operating table, he walk across saying, "Don't do this. You will injure yourself and hurt her. Use the slide pad". Before I could react, He lifted me onto it, sliding me across very calmly and effortlessly, saying, "Did you sleep well?" As he proceeded to carry on what he was doing, I replied, "Could only sleep for about 3 hours as the cycle ended at around 1:30am".

Dr Peh approached, saying, "Hi Lee Lee. I am Dr Peh. I am the anaesthetist. Which hand do you want me to set the IV drip?"

I said, "The left hand."

She added, "The anaesthesia will cause some throat irritation for about a week. After this, you will be ok". She proceeded to set the plug, saying, "I am setting the plug now... It is done, I am pouring the solution, etc". Amazed, I said, "You already set the plug? How come there is no pain or feeling?" Everything happened at lightning speed from here on.

Just as she was cupping the mixture of gases over my mouth, Dr Tham quizzed, "Is she gone?" "no. keep on talking. She will be gone in a little while,. She replied.

"Beep, beep," when the first electrode was placed near the heart with the rest in their positions within 5 seconds. Dr Tham carried on engaging me in conversation, "How are you feeling now." to which I said, "My body is getting more tired. What happen ah?" He calmly said, "You didn't sleep well last night. Naturally, it is tired. Don't worry, just sleep ok, just sleep. You will be all right after that," and I was knocked off. While these were going on, another nurse was undressing me at the same time after putting on the surgical stockings. As I was being knocked off, I felt something was seizing me that could not be expressed by words. It was the sensation of someone gripping me by the right of the back shoulder bone.

I had no inclination of time when I heard my cousin's voice, "You are already on your bed and Dialogue in the Dark sent a hamper". I knew I just asked, "How is auntie and you go visit her. I am fine here. You go".

Next, I heard my mom and sister's voices. She said, "She is sleeping. She looks tired". I chased them to go visit my auntie; that I'll be fine resting. I told my mom not to talk to me as I was very tired.

Before long, "Hi Irene. She is my cousin. Thanks for taking care of her," (for she works at TMC), as another round of blood and temperature monitoring was going on. This would be the hourly routine for the next 24-36 hours. Cousin Stella and her mom came.

"She is doing fine so far," came the answer. "Don’t worry. We’ll ensure she is well rested," Replied the nurse.

She said, "You rest," when I told her I was very tired. "They giv you pethidine. This is very strong. Of course, you will be tired. They also give you 100% oxygen to ease your pain (I sensed two tiny something were placed in my nose). You just rest. Irene is the nurse-in-charge of this ward. You are in safe hands". Before they left, placed 2 angpaos on the palm of my right hand, which the nurse helped stuffed into my bag later that evening.

I was surprised to be given seeps of water at intervals in the ward. During the last surgery in 2003 at KKH, water was forbidden, except to hydrate the lips. Dr Tham came later that evening, he asked, "Have you started drinking water?" I replied, "Yes," with the nurse saying, "Yes, have given her at intervals. No vomiting and she is doing well".

He proceeded to look at the sanitary pad and abdomen, making sure my body was in working order. I realised the binder was already snugly in place around the abdomen, saying, "Ok, continue monitoring her. You rest well and I'll see you tomorrow morning". I said I was very tired to which he replied, "Of course you are tired. You just came out from the surgery. Don't think too much. Just rest. I come and see you tomorrow morning. Dialogue in the Dark sent you a hamper".

In comparison, this surgery was a more pleasant experience. No tightness around the abdomen nor pain since the first hours.

At around 7ish on 2 March, Dr Tham visited. He asked if I was ok throughout these hours. He said, "You did very well. No excessive bleeding. I shall start you on porridge this morning. If you can eat without throwing out, We can remove the tubes and switch to oral medication".

I said, "Doc Tham, why I don't experience any pain nor bleeding?" I asked because this one is a far cry from the previous one. He said, "This is not as major as that. You are bleeding. Don't worry. You are doing ok".

I asked, "Why I still feel so tired?" He said, "The anaesthesia hasn't wear off its effect yet. It will eventually go off".

My mom and sister came around 10plus while I was beginning to be more conscious as the anaesthesia begun to wear off. While she was helping me with lunch, Jaafar visited with gifts-- my favourite Arnolds tim Tams and grapes. Soon to be followed by Hong Yi and Kia Hui and Viola and Jun with chicken and fish essence.

Lee cheng and her maid left about 4pm and I had the rest of the day to myself.

One episode I would not forget: A church group came to visit a patient opposite me with holy water. While they were praying for God's healing to be upon her, I said to god, "Lord, I receive your healing".

A nurse helped me with my dinner and told me Dr Tham would not be visiting as it was already 6ish. I took the liberty to wash up. While in the bathroom, I heard his footsteps followed by, "Where is my patient? Lee Lee, where are you?" (‘oh no! Is the nurse wrong or…’) replying, "Doc Tham, I am in the bathroom." He replied, "I visit another patient first. You take your time. I'll come back".

He returned after a few minutes and asked, "You want to go home tomorrow as you are able to move around already?" (the nurses had removed the catheter around 2pm).

I said, "I don't know. The decision lies in you. You are the doctor." He replied, "I'll come and see you tomorrow morning and we shall take it on from there," to which I said, "Ok. Doc Tham, Can the plug be removed as I feel very handicap using one hand to feed myself". He gave the green light. After he left, the nurse removed it as instructed.

You can imagine my joy and relief. Immediately took my mobile phone, texting friends and relatives informing them I was fine, without any pain, announcing my discharge the following day, as if I was the doctor. Also Thanked Hong Yi and Kia Hui for praying and visiting.

I could not enter lala land till past 2am cuz the patient opposite me was snoring very loudly and the patient next to her had the volume of the tv set turned on relatively loud while she talked on the phone till then.

I hardly dozed off for 3 hours when a patient was admitted at 5am, on the bed beside me. Her mother and sister were with her.

When they had prepared her for the surgery, I went to the bathroom on my own about 7ish. Dr Tham arrived calling, "Lee Lee, Are you in the bathroom? Take your time, I'll come back". I was walking towards my bed upon his return, he checked the wound area saying, "You can go home. I shall issue you 2 months or you prefer one month first of hospitalisation leave?" I said, "One month first. See how I progress and we take from there. is it ok?" He consented.

I quizzed, "Why I have throat irritation?" (forgot Dr Peh’s advice). He said, “You will feel like this for a week. Continue to take the antibiotics. Doctor Peh give you the best medicine. Three types of painkillers -- Arcoxia, Ultracet and paracetamol, the ultracet is stronger and has morphine. If it's not too painful don't take it. I have given you a medication to remove the gases from your tummy. I will see you on next monday for wound inspection. Don't come on Saturday for it is a mad house. the clinic is packed on Saturdays".

I asked, "Doc Tham, the scar ...?" He said, "You are still a lance corporal. You are not promoted yet. Still the same place". I was amazed how it could be! It's really at the bikini line, same as the last time. I'll always remember these words, "You can wear a bikini. Just wear a biggir one lah huh!" The last time, as he needed to change the dressing to one what was waterproof, I could touch the wound. However, it was not possible this surgery.

One significant difference was no pressure dressing was place on the abdomen this round. The last time, I couldn't rest well as I felt the weight of it on the abdomen till the second day.

"How many ah?" I asked. "Seven. The big one was causing the problem. The rest are insignificant. I have taken them out. No mor".

After he left, one of the nurses came and spoke with me and was happy that I could be discharged so soon.

At around 11:15, thanked the nurses and left Ward 4D. After settling the bill, was given the appointed time to see Dr Tham on 12 March.

During these weeks, remained connected with my friends at DiD through Talk Box, talked with friends over the phone, while friends and church mates visited me.

Upon wound inspection on 12 March, Dr Tham was very happy with the recovery and no redressing was needed. The last time, he used absorbent stitches. However, this time, he needed to cut through two layers of dressing and cut the threads on either side of the wound. There was a little pull, "snip, snip," that was it! I asked if he was prescribing the Centella cream as he did the last round. "No need. The wound is healing very well and you are doing great!" came the answer. I said, "Doc Tham, I am ok now, right?" Grasping my anxiety, he replied, "I had done a clean up operation. You are all right already".

He placed a small transparent plaster over it, which was removed on 17 March, earlier than instructed, for he wrote, "Sure. Please be gentle to the wound after the plaster is removed". It was itching profusely since 15 March that I had to request for its removal. my next visit is scheduled in June. The stitches were excellent an the scar is barely visible. He gave me the histology report – 7 fibroids ranging from 0.5 to 5cm. In comparison with the last surgery had a solitary huge one, 14 by 9 by 3cm weighing about 900G.

I must praise God for Hisprovision and sending friends to rally around in prayer. Dr Tham is indeed god sent for he taught me to manage the wound even after the surgery, for at one stage, I was in great pain for a few hours and couldn't grasp how it could have happened. Recovery has been better than expected with 2 bulks of constipation which was resolved by taking prune juice as advised by Dr Tham. The nurses were great on their jobs, even as one of the nurses was wiping me down on the morning of the second day with the tubes and catheter still intact before Doc Tham's round and the food tasted much better than KKH. For the least, they treat a patient with dignity.

The final bill from TMC arrived today so I can claim from AIA. Thank God for the window of opportunity enabling me to take up an affordable hospitalisation plan in April 2010. The fibroid episode started at the beginning of June and it was 24 months later that I get to utilise it.

In July 2010, I was also diagnosed with a bulk of anaemia 5 days after I returned from the Hill Songs Conference in Sydney but couldn’t agree with Doc Tham to have a myomectomy or hysterectomy then as they were very small, one, below 2cm, the other 4.3cm. Concerned with the higher charges at TMC, he sent mme to KKH for blood transfusion and some tests from the 16-17 July. The service was so substandard that I had to call the service quality unit to express my disappointment and for the reports as the nurses told me I could only get to see the consultant in 3 months. Besides, every question directed would receive, "I don't know," as if it had been rehearsed. The doctor who processed my admission was so silly thinking I am also dumb, directing all her questions at Jasmine who accompanied me. I woke her up by shouting, "Am I dumb or are you deaf? Who was answering you all this while!"

Upon this, I am convinced to follow Doc Tham even though he had gone into private practice. I was prescribed four doses of GNRH analogues via two japs which shrinked the fibroids, the smaller one disappeared altogether, the bigger one shrunk to about 3cm, at the posterior of the womb.

In December 2011, it had remained. I couldn’t fathom that it could proliferate so quickly that I became anaemic within 8 weeks for I did not have heavy menstrual bleeding, no clots or inter-menstrual bleeding, cramps, bulks of uncontrollable diarrhoea or constipation, urinary frequency and urgency, Abdominal discomfort or bloating, back ache, loss of appetite, nor fainting spells -- symptoms of fibroid proliferation.

Diagnosis/Denial/divine Intervention/acceptance/Date confirmed

I left off in January stating that my HB levels had gone down on the wrong end of the swing. Email Dr Tham replying, "You are probably bleeding fair amount during your periods.
Taking red meat , liver and spinach helps but you need to plug the bleeding. Otherwise, the blood your body made would eventually bleed away.

You can consider taking hormones to control period, or in the worse situation, surgery, to stop your period".

Spoke with him on the phone on 1 Feb. Then, his suggestion was I go consult him to do another hb count using it as a base, another cycle of GNRH and track the progress.

I dreaded the side effects the last round -- insomnia, extreme mood swings, hot flushes, persistent perspiration, etc. It lasted 9 months. Still, I agreed to go see him on 3rd Feb.

However, upon entering the consultation room, He said, "I want to scan you. It is better." I replied, "I thought you want to do an hb level count?"

He asked, "Where was the blood count done," to which I said, " Hougang Polyclinic".

He said, " OPD, I trust. They are very accurate. You go drink some water and I'll see you later".

During the scan, "It has grown in size, about 6.5 to 7cm with another 6-8 smaller ones sprouting. I can see another 2 tiny ones popping up at the front already," came the rude shock!

I said, "Huh, so fast? You said it was very good in December 2011. How come so fast, 8 weeks only? He said, " Fibroids can proliferate very quickly. No explanation could be given one. When was the last surgery?"

"nearly 9 years. the last one was on independence day in 2003".

He said, "You have taken care of yourself very well already. Fibroids usually resurface between 2-4 years. Be happy that you have maintained it consistently for these years".

So how? Still GNRH?"

"No! surgery the only option. If we do not plug them out now, more will surface and you'll be more anaemic, putting yourself in danger." came the answer.

I continued, "Huh? Laparoscopy can or not?"

He said, "cannot leh, either a myomectomy or hysterectomy. Because it is an abdomenal scan, I can't see clearly if there is any at the back of your womb. For a thorough job, a myomectomy has to be or you want a hysterectomy, which will eliminate this problem once and for all. Only the womb is removed. You still have your ovaries, hence, no menopausal symptoms".

When I sent him the email in December 2011, I had the impression that I was ready for surgery to remove the monster. However, it proved otherwise. I broke down straightaway, saying, "Dr Tham, I'm confuse," when he said, "Do you want a hysteractomy or myomectomy?"

As I went alone to consult him, the decision lied heavily upon my shoulders.

He suggested that I go KK Hospital for the surgery to save money but I refused because I had myself covered with a hospitalisation plan, and it's time to exercise this part of my bargain. Furthermore, in 2003, God had spoken clearly to me that he will be my gynae. The last experience staying in KK Hospital in July 2010 really sucked and I didn't like to be treated as a second class patient, for one nurse said, "Your consultant does not see subsidised patients".

Moreover, a "kaleidoscope" of imageries of the 2003 surgery gripped me immediately, especially These words by an indian nurse "Miss, You must pray to your God that you will come out alive" at the holding area, the doctor’ss trial-and-error of setting the IV drip, the 8 hours or so of blood transfusion, the 6-hour of bowel prep and so on haunted me in quick succession. Oh yes! How could I forget the food quality?

Fibroids affect 1 in 4 women, especially, when it's hereditary. It is the result of the muscles in the womb proliferating uncontrollably, feeding on memstrual blood.

Seeing that I was breaking down, he said "Cry first. I know it's hard to take it. Don't be confuse. Tell me what you want done, I'll do it for you".

I answered, "Doc Tham, I don't know. I am really confuse. What shall I do?"

He continued, "This is a very personal issue and emotional too. I had taken out 45 fibroids from one lady, still, she wanted to keep her womb. I had also removed 1 fibroid from another who wanted her uterus removed.

I quizzzed, "Doc Tham, I need blood transfusion, is it?" He replied, "Yes. I'll requisite 2 pints. You need to come on the 28 Feb for pre-admission testing. We need to do a cross match". I said, "Do you think my hb level can reach a level the blood transfusion may not be required?" "It may not be possible. Do whatever you can to increase your hb level. We'll see on 28 Feb, ok? The nurse at the counter will help you with the admission procedure and the bill size. You talk with her. She will fit my schedule. Don't think too much. Everything will be ok."

Lingering another 10 minutes in his consultation room searching for the answer, his verdict was final. So, me off to the counter to work out the estimated bill size and deciding on the date of the surgery.

Dorothy shocked me, "Your estimated bill size is between 10,000 and 20,000 dollars". I asked, "How come such a big difference? I only want a 4-bedder and 3day and 2night stay. Can you rework this again and itemise for me? I know complications would incur more cost".

Initially, I chose 23 February but changed it as I knew I would not be ready mentally.

1 March 2012, it shall be.

When I told my mom, she was in favour of the surgery, even wanting me to have a hysteractomy instead. During this periodd, I heard a lot of "noises", especially, from my cell leader and his wife.

When I told my cell group, requesting them to stand by me, my cell leader texted, "You may also need to give up some of your hurts. Sometimes, it is the past that eat us up," "No, not any particular person but society. Ppl in general. People that treat you differently, etc," not what I was expecting. I became more confused when someone said, "Why not a keyhole one? Doctor can do it via the bottom, my polyp was removed this way".

During these weeks, more emails were traded, like, "Ok Lee Lee. You still believe that this is the way forward. And it be open surgery instead of keyhole surgery?"

I had to explain. Even on 27 February he was still quizzing my decision.

Another friend asked, "Why you want to keep your womb? It has only three purposes -- to carry a fetal to term, shed the inner lining every month and it is a hot bed for cancer". However, she u-turned and encouraged me throughout, called me on 29 Feb, praying with me over the phone.

I signed up the G12 conference with the hope of receiving divine healing there. However, God's way was always not ours; I attended the Israel Haughton concert on 16 and the first session of the conference on 17 Feb. During the night, I was attacked with a bulk of fatigue, a feverish-like and an explained tired came over my body. I couldn't wake up till past 2pm.

On Sunday, I attended the Chinese service at Touch Centre but couldn't go to the conference at the Expo Hall 2 for I was shivering throughout the service, considering the aircon was not cold for every service I attended and have been attending. Hence, divine healing????

However, encouragement from Gwen, Monica, Mindy, Nancy, collette, my cousin, Lee Cheng and some others really helped me to be more positive.

To minimise the chance of needing blood transfusion a third time, I started taking the iron folate acid and protein powder from Amway, while my mother started diligently boiling Red dates, wulfberries and dansheng consistently to boost the hb levels, plus eating a moderate amount of liver.

Thank God, Jun accompanied me for the pre-admission testing on 28 March. While waiting for the result of the blood test, Isaiah 40:10 sufficed when a friend and dear colleague texted me, putting me at ease. What's more, Dr Tham confirmed that the HB level had increased, therefore, no bt required. Praise God!

While I was fighting this battle, asking God for a divine way out, work for the Lobangclub and DiD carried on per normal. Guyi and I went to promote Lobangclub at Y.E.S.933 during the night programme on 20 Feb. We were talking about the Lobangclub for about 45 minutes with songs playing in between. I informed Glen, Hwee Ley, Han Wei and Wesley in February of my leave of absence in March.

Eventually, my cell leader encouraged me by sending me a song by Scott Wesley Brown "He Will Carry You Through". As I listened attentively to the song meditating on the lyrics, God's presence enveloped me and I had His Peace which surpasses all understanding as I rested on the hospital bed, although I don't understand why I had to undergo this a third time and to surrender to His Will for this yet again.

As an answer, God sent this via NanSheng Gege on 29 Feb,
My friend,

If you walk, you will be able to see the budding of the trees in the early spring.
If you walk, you will be able to hear the birds squatting on the branches singing.
If you walk, you will be able to feel the warmth of the sun in the cool morning.
If you walk, you will be able to talk to Ellen.
She is digging her tulips from the ground to her pots.
She doesn’t want to violate the rules!
Oh, she said it was not about rules but obedience.
Why struggle with it for the few roots of tulips?
There is always a way in obedience.

If you walk, you will be able to meet me with God walking alongside and a day begins with fresh perspective.

If you walk, don’t walk too fast, enjoy!

Stay tune to my next entry where I would share about my ordeal and recovery.
This year's lunar new year arrived early, of course, entertaining kids as usual. On day 2, visited Andrew, which I had been putting on hold for a while.

The rude shock Was that my HB levels has gone down the wrong side of the rollercoaster. Although doctors in the polyclinic insisted I should be awarded into a hospital for blood transfusion, I chose not to. It had been barely 18 months from the last transfusion ... Phew!

I believe this is a spiritual attack, especially, interceeding for Dorothy has played a big part in my prayer, besides upholding Siao Peng, Colette and others, including my family's salvation.

I emailed Doc Tham who replied with a few suggestions, wondering if I should go consult him on Friday? Hmm!

Supposed to watch "The Lady" with Pamella and other ladies at GV Vivo this evening but received news the screening has to be cancelled pending approval from MDA, sigh! Having read much about the Burmese history during school days kinda kindled my interest to watch this show.

Time flies and tomorrow will be the end of January, another month. Treasure every moment and make the best we can.

What is 2011 to me

Since I last blogged in May, Had not updated, or rather, had not been putting in writing my thoughts. As we are into the lasg few hours of 2012, I feel it necessary to document in brief the events of the past 7 months.

Healthwise, it has been good, although the fibroid hasn't subsided as I had hoped for and believed in my last post. Thank God that it has remain consistent although it has not shrunk. When I pressed an answer, God answer has been, "My child, My Grace is sufficient for you". I noted in May Dr Tham had recommended surgery but I wasn't ready then. However, when I told him I was ready for the surgery option during my last check in early December, He instructed me to wait. What an irony!

In september, I was inflicted with an eye infection which rendered me unable to work effectively for nearly 3 weeks. Glory to God that it went away after applying the appropriate eyedrops prescribed by Dr Mark Tay.

Resumed my swimming lessons again in August. Although this time I had to pay from my own pocket, I managed to master the Breast Stroke and am now learning the Free Style. Swimming has helped to maintain my weight and makes me more alert with more agility both in the mental and the physical.

God has a way to tell me He doesn't want me to sell the cornflakes cookies for the Christmas this year. The particular cornflakes had not shown up in shelves in Fairprice or any supermarts since April. It resurfaced again at Sheng Siong Supermarts and Mustafa again since last Monday. Wondering if God is granting me the permission to bake again for the Lunar New Year, falling on 23 Jan 2012, Hmmm!

My quest for a guide dog has not come to fruition in 2011. Hopefully, it will be materialised in 2012. However, the second guide dog, Esme made her presence into Singapore in early December. A sweet lady indeed.

Enjoying my stint with Lobangclub. There are more than 60,000 downloads and users in the community, uploading prices of more than 50,000 items sold in Singapore. Blogging will be the main focus although getting publicity in the various media platforms has become part of my job since early December. Hopefully Lobangclub's users will increase explosively soon, reaching the 200,000 soon. God, I pray you will link Guyi and team with the right investors and technical team in 2012; that the business will reap profits.

Although I don't know yet if my contract will continue after or what God has installed for me, I know He has the best for me with Professor Tommy Koh helping to find employment opportunities in 2012.

God, I pray that 2012 will be a fruitful year for us; that my family will receive You as their Lord ans Saviour; that my youngest brother will have a bright career and may You keep him in good health.

Thank you for sending Maritas to help with the household chores and to keep watch over my mum.

I also commit my quest for a guide dog into your hands; that Cheng Hock can help to find the match for Alvin and myself. I also entrust my career into your hands, that I will have a better pay package. Dialogue in the Dark will be visited by more people so the guides and trainers can earn better wages.

I thank You Father for reading listening and answering my prayer. Kindly bless our cell group that more people will joins us that we will bring the lost into your wonderful Kingdom. Blessed everyone in the cell with good health, finances to support our families and ourselves and to live for you. Bless the children that they will grow in wisdom and stature and find favour with yourself and and friends around them.

Cover our families with your precious blood and build a ring of fire around us to keep us from all danger and harm.

Last but not least, keep Lee Cheng safe as she travels in China and grant her your journey mercy. Blessed the family with the knowledge of yourself; that everyone in the family will receive you as their love and saviour. 2012 will be a year of rejoicing for our families.

Thank you Lord Jesus for answering our prayers blessing Liming, Rachel whose babies were delivered in November and December and blessing Siao Peng with a baby boy due in May 2012. Indeed, you're a God who blesses in your perfect and beautiful time.
In Jesus Name I pray, giving thanks, Amen.

Exciting 3 moonths

I left off in Feb stating that I'd be on an internship program with a company funded by MDA. 3 months had gone by so quickly and I'd say am enjoying my stint with Lobangclub.com. I had to adjust to the new style of management as it is the complete opposite from the top-down approach which singapore employers adopt. I manage the publicity aspect of the company via various social platforms like facebook, twitter, post a something every day, involved in forum discussions. I am also securing sponsorship for iPhone accessories for a pre-launch contest by the company happening in mid June. If you are interested to win these dream products, visit lobangclub.com for more details. Alternatively, you can like us at facebook.com/lobangclub.

Because I just started this job, my involvement at DiD has been cut back since April. I'll be resuming my duty on some days to have some fresh air, starting June.

Singapore saw its most keenly fought elections on 7 may, in which not only did the overall margin for the PAP has dropped, lost a GRC to the Workers Party. Hence, this parliamentary term sees the most number of opposition MPs in comparison previously. An irony did take place. Mr George Yeo, who lost the GRC was gracious in his defeat and was more well received by the layman. Overnight, his facebook page had grown to more than 80,000 fans. Others making headlines were PAP's Tin Pei Ling and NSP's Nicole Seah who contested in the Marine Parade ward. I managed to cast my ballot freely this time round, unlike in 2006, someone harrassed me after I casted my vote.

Guide Dog Association in Singapore had broken partnership with Guide Dogs for the Blind in Oregon and had partnered Guide Dogs Victoria Australia for the importation of future guide dogs. Alvin and I were slated to be there in May but it has been differed to July. In early April, Justine from GDV came to assess us and informed us we are definitely ready to acquire guide dogs. The school informed us the intake in May was smaller, hence, couldn't cater to us. We're keeping fingers cross, hoping for better fortune in July.

I went for my follow-up check on 23 May. Dr Tham insisted I go for surgery to remove the fibroid that didn't seem to subside even after the treatment or even to remove the womb. I was not going to budge because I still believe, if God willing, I can be healed. Praise God! I received healing when I attended the Divine Healing and Health session organised by FCBC, Pastor Derek Hong from COOS was the speaker, pending affirmation through another scan by Dr Tham. Dropped an email to him, awaiting reply.

During the first night, A member of his team gave a word that a lady had a womb problem, the word 'fibroid' was also mentioned. I went forward and felt God's divine touch that very night.

On saturday morning, it was more affirming when a member of his ministry team also identified a pain in the lower left back and a fibroid in the womb too. I responded. When the sister released these words, "sister, God wants you to be fertile. I see the fibroid explode," when the word, "explode" was uttered, I felt something in my abdomen breakout within and the Lord says, "You are whole". I had started to share this healing experience with friends and hopes Dr Tham would accede my request for another scan.

What's mor amazing was on Sunday, I went for a sort of 'feasting" with Peck Lian and Alvin. We had durian at Alvin's house before proceeding to T3 at the Airport. Usually, I can't take more than 3-4 seeds. However, I ate more than 10 seeds and felt good. We went to Xin Wan for dinner and the Kopitiam for desserts. I felt very good. I ate some rice with some veggies later at home, still feeling good. I was not invaded by soft stools or diarrhoea-like symptoms when the fibroid was present in the womb. I am 110% sure that I am healed. I want to be God's instrument to bring life and health to those in need.

These were what took place between march and May. More interesting sharings to come soon.

Goodbye February 2011

Dear February,

You went by very quickly. However, you are 1 month that I would remember. You gave me the opportunity to rest because of the 5-day holiday break due to the Lunar new year. Hence, I was able to resume to work the subsequent week.

I was invited by YuZhen Jie to participate in a program broadcasted on 1/2/11, hosted by Violet FenYing at love972 on 1 Feb. It was an eye-opener for I discovered how in this new era, the world of programming has become more adaptable to the layman. Sound engineers and the back-end personnel are not required to stand-by in the studio to salvage situations.

Though DiD wasn't too busy in comparison with January, I thoroughly enjoyed my duties, receiving children, teens and adults alike. I achieved my objective of imparting some form of understanding and help changed perceptions of the masses regarding persons with visual impairment.

The sales of cookies had slowed down a lot because the main ingredient went out of stock islandwide. Hence, I wasn't proactive in soliciting orders. I am still trying to fulfil outstanding orders.

For me, the Lunar new year gave me the opportunity to catch up with relatives and friends. A little episode to record. I had a 5-day relationship, which gave me a little reprieve. Though saddened that it had to ended abruptly, thank God that He did not allow it to drag or the heartbreak would be more painful.

One positive news though: i'll be starting a 1-year stint with lobangclub.com with funding for my salary from MDA. Itt brings me excitement for I am back to the PR job again, a job I used to enjoy tremendously while I was with Aljunied Town Council. Though the new media has evolved, the opportunities to acquire new skills is abundant and really interests and excites me a lot.

With Colette's help, I attended a 1-day course with the renowned author Felix Cheong on 18 February on freelancing as a full-time writer. I gathered much knowledge and hope to apply them in my new employment. Wish me every success.

The earthquake in Christ Church in NZ has been on my mind since the past week. Kindly pray for those affected that they can find sleep and find strength in God to move on in life. Through this, I know Grace. May God bless her and console her and friends too.

First Month of 2011 is Finished

When I wrote my final post for 2010, I didn't imagine January 2011 could just run by us so fast. I recalled sending greetings to friends wishing them a fabulous 2011.

This month, I have been infected with the flu bug since Jan 17. Gone to the Doc 4 times, including today. I couldn't fulfil my duty at DiD since last Tuesday and realised the flu bug has been circulating in the Premises of DiD as several of my colleagues and student interns also took turns to fall sick.

Despite taking the flu jab in June, never I could be so affected that I became non-functional.

In DiD, January happened to be an exciting month. In the first week, we incorporated half tours into full tours for students visiting NP for the 3-day open house from 6-8. We also held 2 workshops for MCYS and some staff from MinDef also came to visit us 2 Fridays' ago. Though someone caught bringing in a camera but denied he had a lighter on him.

DiD also had a few firsts for this year, for instance, some of us were engaged as musicians on some shifts, hot beverages had been nade available for visitors to purchase, duets in the dark and FC connect in the dark. As the year progresses, I believe more programs would be in place.

As for myself, My mother had been helpful in meeting orders for the cookies for the Lunar New Year season. Due to the overwhelming demand, I had to decline some orders, while others would receive theirs after this season.

Every comment, regardless good or bad have been welcomed so I can improve the quality of the cookies. Starting and maintaining a business is not easy. It's through God's strength, provision and blessings that I can soar like an eagle. Under His protection will be able to fly high and to allow Him to determine my dynasty.

Though owning a guide dog is still an uncertainty, I am hopeful that come March-May, if GOd willing, I'll be a proud owner of a guide dog.

Now, time to whisper a prayer and await the arrival of February. Happy Lunar New Year of the rabbit.

Reflection

So fast, we will be saying good-bye to 2010 in a little more than 3 hours. On 1 Jan, I was looking forward to a year to be filled with excitements. Well, these have all been accomplished. Many great experiences and some not so good ones.

The first six months of 2010 went by quite quickly without any incidences. Life was a brisk, working in DiD, knowing I would be travelling to Sydney in the 1st week of July for the Hillsongs conference.

Indeed, Had learnt and gathered much during the conference, especially on how to exercise my Faith and to reap the harvest; that the heartbeat of God is that none should perish, the mission of our Lord and Saviour when He sacrificed himself on the cross more than 2000 years ago. During the conference, a sister from the US gave me a word that God has given me all authority that I will thrive from then on and not having to strive.

I was charged up, ready to carry out His Mission for me in my life.

I never once imagined that God should put me to the test upon my return. Six days later, I was discovered to be very anaemic. It was discovered by my company's physician. My Haemoglobin level had dropped to 6, which rendered me to be non-functional. He insisted that I be transfused blood immediately. I needed a second opinion and he, taking my instruction referred me back to Dr Tham which saw me about 5 weeks earlier.

When Dr Tham saw me, he put his foot down, referring bme to be admitted to KKH for immediate blood transfusion and for other tests to be conducted. The service I received at KKH was so substandard that I had to approach the feedback quality unit to get what I needed in order that Dr Tham could prescribe the appropriate treatment. Though long and tedious, thank God for the Faith and perseverance to go through. I had 4 doses of the GNRH Analogs which helped raise my haemoglobin to 13.2 in November. Technically, the medication should have completed its work. However, I am still getting the sight effects of the medication. Hopefully, it will ware itself out very quickly in 2011.

Apart from this, after 16 days of MC, I returned to DiD to work on the first week of August. Hwee Lei, Glen, Jacob and Yin Teng were very encouraging helping me to cope. Glen and Hwee Ley even visited me while I was in hospital. Glen's Mother also gave me good advice to cope with the blood transfusion while it was going on.

Though this seemed bad, God, through Nancy taught me baking to help me cope with the added expenses accompanying the treatment. Praise God. Since I started baking the cornflakes cookies responses have been overwhelming. With financial assistance from Mona, Jimmy, Jun, Patricia and Nancy, I have been blessed. My cell group, under the leadership of Hong Yi has been a great help too.

Thank God also that through this venture, my mom felt that she is more alert and useful. She enjoys baking the cookies. She also confesses that Jesus is the Greatest. I pray God that she will personally confess you as her Lord and Saviour publicly. Glory be to God. She has been eager to go grocery shopping with me since then. I have started baking easy fruit cake since Christmas day, a recipe Nancy through Jean had taught me. Through Pamela's connection, I shall be writing to Lyn Lee of Awfully Chocolate to learn from her. Hopefully, a good outcome can be reaped.

I have known Zhan YuZhen a MediaCorp producer since 2006 but our phone calls had always been short and sweet. Upon learning of my situation, she posted the pics on her Facebook. A journalist from XinMing Daily saw her post. he wrote an article which was carried on 1 oct. Upon its publication, my mind was completely blown off. I was awed by the number of responses of people ordering the cookies. They range from school students to professionals. Glory be to God. He is a God of all possibilities. They have become my friends and we have been in touch since. YuZhen Jie also sponsored a product from Fit Solution for 1 month which help me alleviate the sight effects of the treatment. I also stumbled upon the green bean drink which also helps to alleviate the sight effects.

On 21 Dec, 2 canes broke in one day. Thank God for Dennis who came to my rescue on Wednesday. My quest for a guide dog is still ongoing. With the departure of Jamie, Dennis came and has been helping me since. Hopefully by May 2011, my dream of having a guide dog can become a reality.

My Youngest brother has been a sore thumb since then. With the leaving of 2010, I pray God that he can be more responsible for himself, that he learns to manage his finances and to be more prudent in making friends. Heavenly Father, I pray that he would be able to find a good career and not to squander his time and resources in things useless; that he would return to your arms again and he be sealed and covered by the blood of Christ.

Mary left us in July and Irene has come to our family in September. I hope Irene would enjoy being with us for the duration God has destined her to be with us.

This has been an extraordinary year for me. I pray that 2011 will be filled with God's abundance and Victory, that I could reach out to others, to be an encouragement to others. Good-bye 2010 and Hello 2011.

Reflections For The Past 6 Months

It is nnearly 7 months since I last blogged. Not that I was too occupied with schedule, but, I wasn't diligent to do so and couldn't keep up with myself for this journal.

My full-time job is with DiD Singapore and involvement at Breezeto5 has cut down significantly as it is going through a revamp. I also took on the position as a sale rep with Scala some time in March, marketing slimming ware for ladies. My customers are mainly my friends, who wants to define the waistline.

Recollections and Reflections

Wow! Time and tide really waits for no man. Again, we're in the last hours of 2009. Actually, I should be in church celebrating 2009 and ushering 2010 with my spiritual family. However, the plan had to be altered cuz need to accompany my mother.

In the month of December, I thanked God that I could celebrate Christmas with 3 groups of friends, though one of which, cannot be classified as Christmas celebration.

Though I was down with flu from mid November, my commitment to the ID Service wasn't affected. Praise God for enabling me to hold firm to Him, hence, to be able to fulfil my duty and to glorify His Mighty Name with my Brothers and Sisters who are intellectually disabled.

The past year had indeed brought me many challenges in many fronts, firstly when the first set of managers could no longer pay my salary. It was made known to me in March. Almost instantaneously, God provided another person who took me according to the terms and conditions offered by the previous managers. the changing of jobs, switching to a new career path came about in mid July when I decided to leave telemarketing and to pursue a different journey. This job offered me a consultant's post, in which, I accepted as I could be in contact with more people, and at the same time, to try to start my own business. God alloted me some funds in which I was able to acquire a desktop pc at a very reasonable price. Praise His Great Name!!

In October, Dialogue-in-the-Dark Social Enterprise made it's entry into Singapore via Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I decided to join my friends and am currently enjoying myself serving in the capacity of a tour guide in this unique exhibition.

The trip to Hill Songs Conference had to be postponed to 2010 due to the H1N1 pandemic. At first, it was very disappointing. However, I always believe God makes everything beautiful in His time. Hence, I choose to believe it will come into fruition in 2010.

I joined a new cell group in April. It is not completely new, for most of my cell members were from the previous group.

There are many things to recall and reflect. However, I believe that 2010 will bring new breakthroughs and new things to look forward to.

Good-by 2009 and Welcome 2010. See you in 2010!

Anticipating September and Exciting October

Upon reflection, September was a relative quiet month, with the exception of telemarking for the Fringe activity for the Singapore Archifest 2009 to take place from 9-13 October at the National Library at Victoria Street. Though I did not manage to garner companies to participate in the career fare, did manage to clinch one sponsorship for the goody bag.

Besides, I was researching online for materials to put together 6 articles for the company's newsletter which goes out online fortnightly.

On 28 September, a litter of 6 pups made their arrival. Although only 3 managed to survive, they are growing steadily. Within a few days, we will realise they have grown, or their eyes had opened, and now, they are teething and seeking attention.

As I mentioned in my last blog that Glen called and told me I had been accepted by Ngee Ann Poly. Hence, without delay, the 15-day intensive training begun on 5 October. Though it was tiring, we are glad 14 of us have passed the exams and are now working as guides at Dialogue in the Dark (Singapore) located at blk 5 of Ngee Ann Polytechnic. According to the founder from Germany, Dr Andreas Heinecke, persons with disabilities have been marginalised and discriminated against. Hence, Dialogue in the Dark (a social enterprise) attempts to bridge this gap. He founded this concept in 1988 and subsequently, "Dialogue in Silence".

Ms Daniela Dimitrova, Ms Claudia Bade and Mr Pepe were 3 excellent trainers from Bulgaria, Germany and Mexico respectively. They would stretch our potential and maximise our ability to manage situation.

They told us that Singapore is kinda of unique for this the first Dialogue in the Dark project to be set up in an educational institution. They also applauded the directors of Ngee Ann Polytechnic that the whole works were set up in about a year's timeframe, in comparison to other which a longer time had to be taken for this project to materialise.

I'll encourage you to call Ngee Ann Poly at 6460 6222 to book the tours for you never know what you will take away from this unique exhibition.

As guides, my colleagues and myself are working happily, knowing we are helping others to discover their other senses that have taken a back seat with the advantage of sight.

So far, the feedback from visitors have been very positive and we hope it will generate public interest after its official launch, some time in the first quarter of 2010.

Extraordinary Augusg

This month greeted me with lots of excitement.

First, being on a new assignment since mid July, have been conscientiously learning the ropes. The area of Human Resource is new to me and, thankfully, Malcolm has been rather helpful to send me materials for the online newsletter, published fortnightly.

I took on an editing assignment for a 180-page book in Facilitating Transfromation. Glad to been given the opportunity to pursue my dream career. Praying for God's help to do a good job so I can be accorded more assignment of this nature.

I met Mike, Corona, Kate and Sharrie on 7 August. Mike's family and I went to Jambo Seafood where he enjoyed the chilli Crabs and Bens And Jerrys where Ice-cream was Kate's delight. Following which, Mike came over to my place for a short catch-up.

This year, for a change, I went to Lee Cheng's for one night, where we went to attend FCBC's first Saturday evening's service in TCT and spent sunday relaxing in the pool and celebrated the Nation's 44 BirthDay with relatives she invited.

Met Auntie Lee and David Chua at Thomson Plaza that afternoon with Amanda and Lee Cheng, while having lunch at the food court.

Ongoing project is the Archifest 2009, to recruit potential companies to come onboard Breezeto5 platform. I really hope we can fill up the 300 vacancies allocated for this exhibition to take place from 9/13 October.

Sam recommended me an interview, 'Dialogue In The Dark', a social enterprise project of Ngee Ann Polytechnic on 20 July. Glen call me on Friday evening informing me I have been selected for training from 1-13 October and to find out my preferred working schedule with them. Also had the opportunity to catch up with Aaron since our last meeting in 2002.

Cheng Hock arranged for me to undergo O & M with an American lady Jamie that completed last thursday, as part of the process of acquiring a guidedog as my guide. It is heartening that her assessment has been positive and she would return in Jan 2010 to assess the group again, to better prepare us for this possibility.

17 August was the last time I get to meet up with Nan sheng Gege and family for they have relocated to Boston for a couple of years to pursue his theological studies. It was a great time catching up with friends I've not met, some of them for years, for example, Billy Koh and Samuel Chong who I met 3 days before while he was part of the Cast from JiaXi Media performing a play at TC, "Life No Take 2". I had the privelege to meet him when he was a young producer in 1993 at the SBC, shooting a promo for wataboshi concert at the Yamaha Studio at Plaza Singapura. To my surprise, He could still recognise me and came to say hello. Likewise, he did the same thing at NanSheng Gege Farewell gathering.

Thankfully, Pan Ying gave me a lift home as it was late, about 11pm when the event ended.

On 29 August, we went to sell flags for TCS and Bevien and I had a wonderful time catching up and approaching the public.

Ah Hwa is on her annual visit to Singapore with her 2 daughters, and we managed to meet up on 2 occasions. Thank God for this opportunity.

I have been rather lethargic for the last 2 weeks. Hopefully, will get better.

These are some highlights for the month of August. Don't know what's installed in September?

An Eventful July

At the beginning of this month, I was praying that God help me out of telemarketing for I was having mild depression. I knew then that if I didn't get out, the consequence can be worse.

Thankfully, God got me out of telemarketing and by 15 July, I found myself embarking on a new journey.

I now work as a consultant with Breezeto5. The man who started this company is a lawyer turned businessman and having gone for 2 rounds of interviews was finally accepted.

Malcolm is a man of a few works and we usually communicate via sms or email. Though we speak once every few days, modern technology has enabled us to keep each other posted and updated of developments.

I mentioned to Karen that because of this, I want to apply for the Lovesingapore Entrenpreneur funds to enable me to acquire a desktop pc so I need not tax on my laptop which suffered a major breakdown and rendered me not being able to work for one week in June.

As an encouragement, she actually helped me with and discouraged me to take that journey. I am very grateful and actually drafted a rough business plan for the next 2 years, hopefully, God will help me to fulfil.

Back to my consultancy service, I am suppose to recruit employers to participate in the Archifest 2009 to be held in October to celebrate the build environment. Apart from this, my other roles are to furnish 3 articles for publication on a fortnightly basis. I am suppose to promote Breezeto5 to as many companies and to grant media exposure of the company, especially, Malcolm.

Today, Edwin delivered the desktop pc to the delight of my mom who sat at it for 2 hours enjoying her favourite game.

I'd like to thank Joe who willingly released me without one month's notice and am grateful for his understanding.

Yuru celebrated her 21-yyear-old birthday on 12 July and we celebrate little Sophie's birthday a week later. What joyous occasions. However, when she came, I was busy editing articles from Candid Creation that I didn't have the opportunity to play with her.

Just received news yesterday that Mike and family will be visiting Singapore next week and we shall have a time of catch-up to be arrange.

Thank God for answering Nansheng Gege's prayer, his family will be temporary relocating to USA to further his studies. Praise God that our prayers have been answered.

I shall end here and look forward for more good things to come in August.

Half Year has fly us by

Wow! How time flies. Already July is waiting on the wings to say hello.

This month has not been what I expected. The first weeks witnessed my PC having to replace certain parts for it to function and the second 2 weeks have grounded me.

I discovered my pc was showing signs of problems when the monitor gave way and it displayed messages I couldn't understand. I took it to Challenger but the technician could not resolve it.

On 1 June, with the help of Jaafar, I brought to HP service centre. I left it there till Friday 5 June evening and collected it. I then transported to Edwin's house to fix up the necessary accessories to enable me to use it. I got it back on 9 June noon and was glad I could resume my work.

Little did I know I came down with infection of some sort that grounded me non-functionable for the rest of June. The infection got so bad that my sleep had been affected. I knew my boss wasn't happy, but what can I do?

Eventually, I was driven to e-mail Dr Tham on 22 June and to confirm if my self-analysis was correct. He replied confirming it. I then went to see him on Wednesday, 24 June and found my relief after 2 dose of the medication.

However, my sleep had not improved. I wonder it is due to the Winbledon Open or what? I cannot explain.

Kok Hwa of Candid Creation gave me a trial project to edit on 15 June and reverted that He'd engage me as the editor for this project. Though it's only $250.00, it's a good experience for me to launch into the world of editing. He reverted on 22 June that for a first time editor, I am cut out for the job and hopefully we can work together for more projects.

I'm still looking for sponsors for Grandpa's book for it to see the light of day.

One not so good news to share: We have been advised by Pastor Kong to postpone our trip to the Hillsongs Conference till next year due to the A H1N1 pandemic. Though disappointed at first, but feels it's a prudent advice as we may be infected due to the uncertainty of the extent of magnitude of this flu.

Renuka from Ang Mo Kio-Yio Chu Kang Town Council asked me to write a jingle for them in May but it was called off because the committee wanted a professional company to do it. She fear I'd not meet her for lunch. We eventually met on 29 June after 2 years and am surprised she'd be married in November. Happy for her!

I spoke with Joe and told him I'll return to work once I am cleared and my insomnia problem is resolved.

Sadly, I llearned the passing of Dr Tham's wife in April. I had been wanting to speak to him but no opportunity. Hopefully, accompanying Soo Ling to see him on 6 July will offer me this opportunity to pass him a note.

Well, so much has happened, of course, not forgetting the demise of Michael Jackson during the wee hours of 26 June and remembered smsing my friends by 7am that morning.

I met Malcolm the Director of Breeze To 5 on 30 June. This was the most open-mined interview I'd ever been. He has been quite honest in that the company needs a PR personnel and an editor and that until and unless the project monetises, he is not able to pay me. He encouraged me to work with him on a part-time basis till the company finds the resources to engage me on a permanent basis.

Well, interesting! He e-mailed me some docs but I still having problems opening it. Hopefully, I can get that sorted during the weekend.

Praise The Lord! Song Jiang finally received the Lord as her saviour on 7 June and has been hungry for his word. Sharon has kindly given the bible which I'll hand her this weekend. Hong Kai has been enjoying himself in GKids.

Father, I pray you'll bless Puay Ning with excellent health; that he will defy all odds to live for you and to serve you with your abundance. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen!w

Events of May

Since the last edition, God has been using me to bless friends and in turn, I receive many blessings in return.

The transformation 09 conference has indeed been a great blessing, for it really displays the truth about the Word of God, that, it will be given you according to your measure of faith.

For instance, as I blogged previously of going for the Hillsong conference in July and had given up the attempt. God has been good in which he sends sponsors to pay for everything, including Rachael who blesses be with the ticket to the conference, Collette who sponsors about 75% of the air fares, my cousin, Lee Cheng sponsoring the allowance and well-wishers paying for the accommodation from 7-11 July in Sydney.

Thank God also for Mona who agrees to be my travelling partners and FCBC and Ps Paul doing all the arrangements for the conference.

Viola who links us up so this conference is possible for me to pursue.

All these came about cuz the speakers of the conference has tremendous, that Faith makes all things possible and when we believe God for it, it will happen.

Secondly, Since FCBC launched the 100k blessing two years ago, I didn't have the faith to do it. However, having taken the pack, God spoke to me through the conference that His command is that I must do this year and blindness cannot be neither an excuse nor reason. Because of this, I'm glad I took the challenge and has almost finished the 10 in the pack. I undertook 5 more from Lee Cheng to complete the challenge.

Dr Tham has been my Gynae since 2003 and when I went for my yearly review, told me that the fibroid has grown to 3.6cm and another one has grown to the size of 1.7cm. He says it is not a course for concern as it is too small to do anything.

I met Jennifer who also have similar situation as I am. She has been taking apple-cider vinegar and it shrinks the growth. I believe I'll be doing likewise. Trenny has recommended using aroma therapy to treat it and I am looking into this alternative too.

Dr Ho a professor in traditional chinese medicine tells me that it will take 1 year for the fibroid to shink by going this path

This month, I referred Pauline and Soo Ling to Dr Tham for their gynecological situations and they are happy with his prognosis and diagnosis.

Apart from this, We have so Beibei, Huanhuan and Lele and have given Hebe away to one family who loves dog.

Karen and Claudia had been put through career challenges, and through the wisdom of God, has reversed the negative into positive situations.

Time really pass us by so quickly and tomorrow, we are ushering the month of June. As I work and prepare for my Sydney trip, my desire is that I'll find more success in work and that Grandpa Trevor's book can see the light of day, that Candid Creation and Collette can come to an agreement for this publication.

Developments for the past 2 months

Since my last blog about 2 months ago, a lot have happened.

Firstly, I was told by my previous bosses that they couldn't pay me any longer and my contract would be terminated a week earlier. However, in mid March, the contract got terminated prematurely. I was a little panic. However, God brought me a new assignment. I was asked to train a group of Financial advisers on how to succeed in cold calling. Initially, my previous bosses were reluctant that I was being engaged for such an assignment.

Eventually, they relented when the branch manager approached them officially and the air was clear.

God had other surprises installed. Just as my contract was terminated, Joseph, the branch manager approached me and informed me his adviser was keen to engage me as his telemarketeer and he was willing to match the rate my bosses were paying me.

During the 3rd training session, he spoke with me and we came to a concensus and that work would commence in april. I was transparent with my bosses and they were happy for me.

Though I'm no longer their employee, we still spoke with each other whenever we meet in the office.

When I was approached by Joseph to conduct the training, I knew PPT slides were crucial for I am training a group of seeing people. I studied JAWS menu for a little and begun creating the PPT slides. However, because of accuracy, I asked another friend to vet. He gave a 'Fantastic' score. However, I felt that wasn't enough. On 21 March, he took 2 hours to teach me the proper procedures. What I now do is to follow the procedure and send him for vetting, which he happilly helps me every week.

The 3rd batch of 4 pups arrived on 14 March. Though 1 fatality, the rest are doing well and 2 will be going to their new owners end of the month.

I Registered for an ice cream making workshop organised by 938live. Initially, I couldn't find anyone to accompany me. However, on the last day of registration, Karen decided to come along. We felt it was an eye opening event for did we find out that making ice cream does not require a refrigerator to bring down the temperature. It was simple; that we add the exact measurements of whip cream milk and flavours. we then covered with a ziplock bag filled with salt and ice which brings the temperature to minus 20 degrees C and massage it. After about 25 mins to half an hour, the ice cream is ready for tasting. We made friends and got 20$ vouchers to spend at Udders ice cream.

Stanley and pamela profiled David the chief milkman of the ice cream shop on monday and I won another 20$ worth of icecream vouchers.

I brought Viola to the Udders Ice Cream on 14 April and we had a wonderful evening catching up with each other.

I went with Lay Hua and some friends for a musical on 17 March at the Drama Centre Theatre. This is the 2nd season. Though very touching, the play carried deep insights that worth reflection.

In Jan 2009, I submit my application to Pastor Paul to go to the HillSong's conference with the church. However, due to certain obstacles, I canceled my trip and committed it to our Good Lord. However, He cleared the way a few days ago, And now, I'm looking forward to attend the conference in July. I hope to grow in the Lord in Ministry and to serveHim more effectively and sensitively.

I hope this trip will be a refreshing one and will be praying and working hard that this trip will be a fruitful one.

That's all for now. Update soon and God bless.
