Stop into the Columbus Metropolitan Library at 96 South Grant Avenue, Columbus, OH and check out the exhibition in their Carnegie Gallery on the second floor! "Seasons of our Lives" is hosted by the member artists and writers of the National League of American Pen Women, who collaborated on numerous pieces. You'll find paintings, collages, sculpture, photography and poetry to please your eye! Curated by Stephanie Rond, it is worth the trip!

As an organization comprised of professional women writers, artists, musicians, singers, dancers and choreographers (to name a few), we have had our "Women of Letters" and "Women of Art" members collaborate on this exhibit.

Here's what I am finding...their colors are as bold as I was warned...loving that! They are similar to watercolor in terms of control, but they also lend themselves nicely to "happy mistakes"! They don't play well with gloss medium if they are being painted over, as they can bleed into the gel medium (even after they are dry) but they will happily sit atop of dried gloss medium!

I'm currently working on a series of 12" x 12" panels that combine acrylics with alcohol inks. So far I'm pleased with the results...happy mistakes and all! What do you think?

Hanging throughout the restaurant, you will find my fabric collages, acrylic and paper collages as well as my latest bold acrylic paintings! There will be a lot of color to take in- I hope you'll also participate in the restaurant's wine tasting ($5) or better yet, make a reservation and stay for dinner! The more the merrier, so please join me and bring your family and friends! My work will be hanging through the end of March!

Ok folks...we have arrived. We are there. You know...the month on the calendar, where the skies seem perpetually gray and the bitter temperatures outside only add to the dreary mood! Personally, I fight back with a lot of bold, bright color and like taking a multivitamin, I have to take in color every day.

So, I have been painting daily and some of my new work, seen here (in this blog post and my website's illustration gallery) will be available soon as more boxed sets of greeting cards! I will be sure to let you know when they are hot off the press and available, so subscribe to my blog or check back to my Facebook page!

In the mean time, surround yourself with color, stay safe, warm and HAPPY!

Holidays are fun but exhausting! There is a distinctive ebb & flow to our lives around the holidays with kids out of school, college students home, laundry piling up, grocery lists lengthening and the social calendar filling up! Every schedule remains discombobulated for weeks, sleep is nonexistent and I find myself clinging to any cup of caffeine, in any corner of quiet I can find! 

I realized it is a lot like my artistic process! There is an ebb & flow to my studio time. At any given time I have several pieces going at once, in various stages of completion. I move from piece to piece, adding colors, adding texture, working big, working small, or sometimes I just want to focus all of my attention on one particular piece. My personal ebb & flow, sans sand, sun and surf!

The collage featured here is one that has been painted with both a palette knife and brushes, with the addition of strips from unique security envelopes and vintage books. It's color scheme makes me think of early paintings of ships on fire, after cannon battles at sea. I like the smokiness of it and the strips of paper are like sightings of land or any small shred of reality through the heavy post-battle haze. And there is a small ebb & flow that can be found in the brushstrokes. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

With the holidays upon us and 2017 coming to a close, I wanted to wish everyone a restorative, peaceful, holiday season! Thank you all for following me on facebook and instagram and please know I count you followers among my many blessings!

Many have asked what is ahead...well, currently my boxed greeting cards are available through the Columbus Museum of Art store (and of course through me directly as I am working on getting my website's ecommerce section up and running). I have been painting a lot and so you can look for more blasts of color from me in the weeks and months ahead! I am still accepting commissions and will have some surprises for you in the near future!

This month's issue of Bexley Living Magazine...

Thank you to Kimarie Martin and Nick Hart of Bexley Living Magazine, for the great interview and photographs for the November issue!

I was commissioned to create books for many occasions: births, adoptions, birthdays, pet memorials, adult achievements, musical accomplishments and more. I am thrilled to have them featured in the current issue of GreenCraft magazine! Thank you to the many friends and clients who lent me their books for the magazine to photograph. Many thanks to the Editors I have worked with at GreenCraft, as they transitioned into different editorial roles!

Very excited to have a travel article on Columbus in the current issue of American Lifestyle magazine! This was something I pitched to the editor and as it worked out my husband had some great images to support the piece, so we ended up with a double billing! Many thanks to my hubby, Brad Feinknopf and to Matt Brady at American Lifestyle, it was great working with you both!
