Here i have put together the Top 10 Privacy Settings Every Facebook User Should Know. Some useful settings weather to just protect yourself and your privacy or if you use your facebook account for multiple uses like marketing your business, connecting to new clients and jsut general socialising. As you can imagine you don't want your clients knowing everything about your private life and you might not want your friends knowing everything about you busniess/clients. So here goes...

Understanding your Friends list.Facebook friend lists are the cornerstone of privacy on Facebook. While you don’t need to take advantage of friend lists, understanding this feature will instantly turn you into a “Facebook power user”. Understand that friend lists can take time to configure so don’t expect to breeze through this step. The concept behind friend lists is simple: it’s a way of organizing your friends into various affiliation groups. If you aren’t clear with our explanation, here’s how Facebook describes friend lists: "Friend Lists provide organized groupings of your friends on Facebook. For example, you can create a Friend List for your friends that meet for weekly book club meetings. You can filter your view of each list’s stream of activity separately on the home page. Friend Lists are easy to manage and allow you to send messages and invites to these groups of people all at once."With the friends lists you can...You can add each friend to more than one Friend List, Friend Lists should be used like “tags” as used elsewhere around the web, Friend Lists can have specific privacy policies applied to them. The most common lists that many privacy experts will refer to are “Friends”, “Family”, and “Professional” however there’s a limitless combination of lists that you can create. Truthfully, it doesn’t matter how many friend lists you create, although I prefer to simplify things as much as possible. The key thing to understand is that your friends’ privacy settings will always default to the most restrictive friend list they’ve been placed in.For example, let’s say your friend John is someone you met at work but continue to hang out with outside of work. You may have placed them in your “Work Contacts” Friend List and your “Local Friends” Friend List. Understandably she doesn’t want her middle school students to know what she’s up to in her personal life. There are numerous reasons that individuals don’t want their information to show up in search results on Facebook, and it’s simple to turn off your public visibility.Within the new search privacy settings page, Facebook has made things extremely straight forward. There are now two settings: one for those people who can find you when searching on Facebook, and one for those searching within search engines (which the next section describes). To block that information from being publicly accessible you can remove yourself from Google’s index and other search engines. Some people enjoy having their information displayed in search engines, as it makes them easy to find. For those that prefer to err on the side of privacy though, it’s often a good idea to remove yourself from the search engines.To remove yourself from the search engines, visit the search privacy settings page and simply uncheck the box next to “Public Search Results” which says “Allow Indexing”. Avoid The Infamous Photo Tag Mistake.Many users are getting smarter about their privacy settings, however I continue to hear horror stories of users who have their relationships damaged as a result of photos they’ve been tagged in. More than just having their relationships damaged, some users get fired as a result of photos they’ve been tagged in. There are a number of ways to work around this problem. One of the ways is described later in this guide, however there is an extremely easy way to avoid having compromising photos show up to friends.Head over to the profile privacy settings page and go to the section which says “Photos and Videos of Me”. Then click on the drop down selector, and click on the “Custom” option. You can then select “Only Me”. Keep in mind that this will block all people from seeing any images or videos that you’ve been tagged in. Many users want their friends to see photos they’ve been tagged in though.So how do you work around this issue without putting your job or relationships at risk? The best way is to take advantage of the friend lists that you previously created (in the first setting) and limit specific people from seeing the images and videos you’ve been tagged in. For example, it’s probably not the best idea to have your professional contacts see the images you’ve been tagged in. If you have a professional list, you can simply enter that friend list under “Hide this from” in the custom privacy dialog box which is shown below.
Protect Your Albums.It's been mentioned in previous privacy guides, one of the greatest risks on Facebook is that you get tagged in a compromising photo. However it’s important to consider who you really want to have viewing your photo albums. Given Facebook’s custom privacy settings you are able to get as granular as you’d like with the visibility of each album. Thanks to the new publisher privacy settings, you can even get granular with every photo that you post if you really want to have complete control.What privacy settings you choose for your albums is completely up to you, but if you do want to limit access to your albums, I recommend visiting the photos privacy settings page and limiting the access of each of your albums to “Only Friends” at the least. Unless you are a professional photographer, there probably isn’t much of a reason for making your albums visible so that the whole world can see them.
Avoid The Post-Breakup Facebook Effect.I’m seriously sorry to hear that you that you just broke up with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Do all of your contacts really need to hear about that though? I’ve seen countless people publicly update their relationship status as though everybody needs to hear about it. Relationship status changes have become such a large component of Facebook news feeds.Strangely enough, there is a new mating ritual which has evolved on Facebook and often relationship status changes are part of that process. Often times after a female changes her relationship status to “Single”, a whole slew of new “potential suitors” start commenting on the relationship status change and write posts on her wall. Honestly, I see nothing wrong with this process and find it quite entertaining, however it probably is something that you don’t want all of your contacts to know about, especially your professional contacts.Some have chosen to avoid relationship statuses altogether, some users still want to have them displayed. While many people like to let the world know that they are in a relationship, you can avoid having a relationship status change becoming the talk of the town. While Facebook has now removed the feature which lets users control which actions generate news feed stories, you can still protect the visibility of your relationship status.Simply go to your profile privacy settings page and change the “Family and Relationship” setting to “Only Me”. While it would be great to make that information public, it’s currently impossible to control whether or not a relationship status change creates a news feed story. As such, I believe it’s better to play things safe and block users from seeing your relationship status.
Control What Information Applications Can Access.
The risk of having applications publish stories without your approval, is being eliminated completely. However it’s important to understand what information applications can access. As Facebook writes, when you visit applications, they “may access any information you have made visible to Everyone as well as your publicly available information.” Publicly available information “includes your Name, Profile Picture, Gender, Current City, Networks, Friend List, and Pages.”The more restrictive you make your profile settings, the less information that’s available to applications. While applications must follow your existing privacy settings, your friends can also share information about you within applications. An example would be a greeting card application which uses your birthday to prompt your friend to send a card. Make Contact Information Private.I personally use Facebook for professional and personal use and it can frequently become overwhelming. That’s why I’ve taken the time to outline these ten privacy protection steps. Once I began approving friend requests from people that I hadn’t built strong relationships with, I immediately limited the visibility of my contact information so that only close friends could view things like my email and phone number.If you post any of your personally identifiable information (phone number, email, or address) on your profile, it makes sense to limit who can see it. There are two ways to limit who can see your contact information. The first is to visit the contact privacy settings page (http://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=privacy&section=contact). From there you can customize the contact settings as much as you’d like. As I previously wrote, for each contact item that you have in your profile, you should set custom privacy settings so that contacts who you aren’t close to don’t have access to your email and phone number.The second way to customize your contact privacy settings is directly from your profile. Your friends may not use Facebook for connecting with professional contacts, and as a result they don’t think twice about casually posting something that should be kept more private. As such, it makes sense to control what’s visible to others. There are two places where you can configure your wall privacy settings: directly from your profile page and from the profile privacy page.In order to edit the privacy settings from your profile page, click on the “Options” link directly under the publisher. The image below shows how to control your settings in three easy steps. The most dramatic modification that you can make is unchecking the box which says “Friends may post to my wall”. Most users want to be able to communicate via the wall so disabling this functionality will prevent anyone from communicating publicly with you.If you don’t want to take the most extreme step by blocking users from writing on your wall, you can customize who can view wall posts made by your friends by clicking on the drop down directly next to “Who can see posts made by my friends?” I recommend preventing all professional contacts from being able to view posts made by your friends.
Keep Friendships Private.Yes, I understand that you want the whole world to know that you are popular and have lots of friends! However, not all users want everybody knowing who their friends are and there are clear justifications for blocking others from seeing your Facebook friends. I’ve had a number of individuals visit my profile and then selectively pick off friends that are relevant to them for marketing purposes, or other reasons.Voyeurism is a key component of Facebook and one of the most frequent activities of users is to browse through other users’ friends. Whatever the reason is, just know that users are doing it. While your friendships can show up in search engines, we’ve already highlighted how to make your profile invisible to search engines in number 3 above. If you want to take things one step further and prevent others from viewing your friends, you can follow these steps:Go to your profile pageClick on the pencil icon in the top right corner of your “Friends” boxUncheck the box which says “Show my friends on my profile”Now you’ve successfully hidden others from viewing your friends. Keep in mind that your friends list is accessible to any Facebook applications you use. It’s also possible for users to view your friends list if they have access to your username. My guess is that Facebook will eventually provide functionality to block users from seeing your friends completely.

We have secured a new server to increase frag by decreasing lag. Most of you are aware that the server and connection has not been running as it used to or should be. So as of the 16th April 2011 we are switching to a new server with a better connection.

On the 16th April our new IP address will be: 81.19.201.129 The server is based in London and has a far better connection and support so any problems we come across will be sorted out quickly and promptly. So make sure on the 16th April you update your pinger to the new IP address.

Vegas is Awesome

So today is the 27th March, been in vegas since the afternoon of the 22nd And since i have been here, it has been nothing but absolutely awesome. The moment i got on the plane at gatwick airport on Tuesday morning i was able to leave my past behind for this trip. Forget all that has happened, all that has gotten me down. Had an absolutly fantastic birthday, reccomend flying with virgin atlantic to anyone, everything is complementary so was able to have a few birthday drinks while on the plane. Then once landing in vegas (mid afternoon) my eyes were wide open and in shock at the size of everything, the people are all so friendly and talkative and the culture is just so different to the UK. Customs was really quick and easy to get through, answered a few questions and that was it. Came to the imperial palace where i managed to get a room cheaper than i originally thought, which was even better. Seems the longer you stay the cheaper the rate, because for my second week here the rate is $25 a night, can't go wrong with that really can you? First day here i stayed in the casino, gamblled a bit, won a bit and made an amazing girl too, alexis. Completed my birthday really, we had a great evening together and then a great night. Neither of us are looking for a relationship so was good for us both. Next day the 23rd i took a tour of the strip first on foot to get lots of pictures, managed to walk the best part of the strip in a few hours, a great way to spend the day although you do need to take plenty of water. Then did it again from the top of a tour bus, $35 for a 2 day pass for the hop on hop off tour bus, amazing value can get on and off as much as you want. Then in the evening did the same thing. Everything looks completely different at night with all the lights on compared to during the day. On the night of the 23rd i got lucky in the casino and won $422 and booked myself in for a grand canyon tour, which included a helicopter tour and a boat trip down the Colorado river. Absolutely breath taking place. Loved every second of it, got lots of pictures and some videos. Didn't really do much in the evening was a bit heat struck, hadn't taken enough water with me. Then we come to the 25th took a wonder round and caught the deuce bus to the stratosphere tower where i also went to the worlds largest souvenir shop and got lots of souvenirs without spending much. Then caught the monorail right to the end to the MGM grand where i got lost while inside, so i found the CSI experience and took part in that, really good. Recommend that to anyone, good fun. Eventually found my way to the main lobby, where there is another huge gold lion. Headed back to my hotel and had a nice meal. And about 2pm i started drinking strawberry margaritas slushies.... By 3pm i was soo drunk and could not remember a thing after that time. Although sometime during the night i won $180. Then we come to yesterday... the 26th. Didn't really do much except for try to get rid of the first hangover ie ever had.; Tried everything, shower, water, strong coffee, fried breakfast, rode the new york new york roller coaster, nothing got rid of it. It finally went about 2pm. Then we come to today, sunday, a good chill out day, might take a wonder down to the pool, watch a couple of films. But truly recommend Vegas to everyone, compared to other holidays its quite cheap. Had an awesome time so far and have a few more days left here. Looking forward to friday where i have tickets to see Tim Allen at the Venetian Hotel, which is going to be excellent.

The countdown begins. I'm getting really excited now. I have never actually been this excited about a holiday before, i maybe going alone but it doesnt mean i'm going to enjoy it any less. Planning on staying at a wonderful hotel/casino that a very good friend of mine has stayed at and said its a great place to stay. Set off from home at 4am Tuesday morning to get to London Gatwick for 11:20am. Flight to Las Vegas. Truly am excited about this trip. Counting down the hours. Already checked in and have my boarding pass, managed to pick a window seat so gonna be really cool. Not going for sex or gambling although i will admit i may play a few hands of poker and many some slots jsut so i can say ive done it. My brother has asked me to try and get him an IPad 2 which should be fairly easy, checked out and there are a couple of apple stores about. Got the grand canyon and the EM Chocolate factory in my things to do, check out the casinos. It's just going to be a fantastic trip, and i can tell i'm going to enjoy it. It really is something i need, can get away from everything. Also want to say a huge thank you to all my friends who have been there for me over the past week or two, you are all awesome and you all rock and have brought me to laugh and smile, and i can feel myself already being me again, so thank you.

RewardVille is a Zynga property which has been discovered for a while (and we were right on the nose with our predictions), the website “www.rewardville.com” is now live. RewardVille is a service that grants players a new currency called zCoins when they play just about all Zynga games including YoVille, FarmVille, FrontierVille, CityVille, Mafia Wars, Cafe World and more. You earn zCoins by getting zPoints and levelling up, you can tell they were really imaginative with their names.

Players will need to connect their facebook account to participate in the service, something that might scare off some gamers but i have checked the permissions they ask and there is nothing wrong with connecting. The rate at which players will accumulate zCoins and the available rewards are still a little unknown at this point. In cityville for example you earn 1 zPoint for clicking on a business or house. YoVille you earn by leveling up and buying the same way you earn the in game points. You earn zPoints to level up and upon levelling up you earn those lovely zCoins. Straight from the FAQ.

What are zPoints?
zPoints are points you earn for playing Zynga games. You can earn a maximum of 80 points per game per day, with a maximum of 300 points across the entire Zynga network each day. As you earn points you increase your zLevel and earn zCoins. Currently, you can earn zPoints for playing the following games: FarmVille, FrontierVille, Mafia Wars, Treasure Isle, Zynga Poker

What are zCoins?

I also earned a bonus 20 zPoints while i was playing. I am unsure weather there was something I did or weather it was random, but it appeared pretty random.

How i made the heart

So i had a play around in Cinema 4D r12, the latest version of cinema 4d and found a great tutorial on lynda.com about the tracer object and how to use it, the tutorial is very easy to follow. In this heart what i did was, i started in photoshop and created a work path of a heart shape and exported it to illustrator. After that i jumped into cinema 4D and imported the illustrator paths for me to sue as a guide. I created a small cube, was about 10px x 10 px and then i manually animated and key framed the cube moving around the shape of the heart path that i imported, that way i now have a seamless animation of the cube making its way around the shape. I then made it so that the cube rotated every and which way about 7200 degrees in total for the 900 frame animation. The cube was key framed every 10-20 frames to keep it on the heart shape. After having that part of the animation done, i deleted the heart shape path/spline as it wasn't needed anymore and then hid the cube in both render and work view, we don't need to be seeing that. To the scene i added a tracer object, a sweep nurbs and a small circle spline (about 10 pixels) I Placed the circle spline and tracer object inside the sweep nurbs to make the splines that the tracer was making visible. And pointed the tracer object at the cube so the tracer was making splines off the corners of the cube. After hitting play and rendering you can see the effect, the growing sort of feel is made from the tracer creating the splines from the cube and the cube moving around, and the wiggly windy bits are created by the fact that the cube is rotating in every direction and has created this really cool effect. I then just added a simple material to the sweep nurb, red color with a little bit of glow and that was it done. This is the final product...900 frames, 30 seconds long, 1 hour render time (ish)

The Microsoft december 2010 security update has been released today. This secuirty update includes 17 updates and fixes.

The updates fix issues with the following programs:

Microsoft Exchange ServerMicrosoft Office
Microsoft Publisher
Microsoft SharePoint Server
Microsoft Windows
Windows Internet Explorer
Windows Movie Maker.

The update fixes 17 flaws. Two are listed as critical, the most urgent that the company provides. It also addresses another 15 flaws listed as important, the second most urgent.

They fix weaknesses in the programs that if exploited could allow somebody to take control of the applications to alter and delete data. The patches solve problems that can affect both PC users and Mac users. All Windows users, including those with Vista and windows 7, are urged to apply the update immediately.

SWFStore eBooks is Becoming SWFStore - Store

So recently i released SWFStore eBooks and Downloads and well to be honest, im not actually happy with my work, how it looks, how it oporates and its a little buggy. Sooo i have found my solution, ive opted to go for a pre made eccomerce website called OpenCart, it is real easy and simple to use. It is like most CMS type sites where you jsut upload the files, add the database and then add your personal settings and that is pretty much it. You are then ready to add the content you wish to your site. OpenCart ive found really easy, you just change your settings, things like your store title, logo etc, then you pick what payment modules you wish to use, i have opted for Paypal only at the moment, but if the site proves useful then i will branch out into other payment processors. Once you have changed your settings and sorted out your modules you are ready to start adding your own catagories and items. Just as easy as the rest and teh great thign is, the opencart website has a huge help section to help with every single thign, including setting up your paypal account and what information you need from it. I would deffinetly reccomend OpenCart to anyone wanting to set up an ecommerce site. So Keep a loo out for the new and improved SWFStore eBooks and Downloads coming back with the new name of SWFStore - Store.

Was about time i did somethign web design realated. So here it is, the festive season is upon us, and what better way to welcome it in than a little bit of snow on your website. I came across this script (the very one used on this blog and on realsnipers.com) that ads some snowflakes gently falling from the top of your screen down the page. It's really easy to implement, all you do is add the code below after uploading the files to your server and change the locations in the code to match where they are on the server, save and your good to snow.
